What Is Remote Start
The system allows you to remotely start your vehicle and therefore to heat or cool the interior to a predetermined temperature.
Remote Start Limitations
Remote start does not work if:
- The alarm horn is sounding.
- The hood is open.
- The transmission is not in park (P).
- Remote start is not enabled.
- The ignition is on.
Note: Do not use remote start if your fuel level is low.
ENABLING REMOTE START - VEHICLES WITH: 4.2 INCH INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DISPLAY SCREEN
- Using the information display controls on the steering wheel, select Settings.
- Select Vehicle Settings.
- Select Remote Start.
- Switch System on.
Note: To use remote start, make sure that the modem is enabled. See Enabling and Disabling the Modem - Vehicles With: 8 Inch Center Display Screen/SYNC 3/SYNC 2.5.
ENABLING REMOTE START - VEHICLES WITH: 12.3 INCH INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DISPLAY SCREEN
- Press the menu button on the steering wheel to enter the information display main menu.
- Select Settings.
- Select Vehicle.
- Select Remote Start.
- Switch System on.

REMOTELY STARTING THE ENGINE
Use the FordPass App to start the engine.
Note: The direction indicators flash twice.
Note: The parking lamps turn on when the engine is running.
Note: The horn sounds if the system fails to start.
Note: All other vehicle systems remain off when you have remotely started the engine.
Note: Wait a few seconds before remotely starting the engine after the engine stops running.
Note: The vehicle remains secured when you have remotely started the engine. A valid key must be inside your vehicle to switch the ignition on and drive your vehicle.
