Overview
General information
The Teleservices, intelligent emergency call or ConnectedDrive Services features are required to use the services and applications described here.
The content and scope of the services that are available may vary by country. Therefore, it is possible that some of the services and applications described in the Owner's Manual may not be offered, or not yet be offered, in the vehicle's country of registration.
Details on availability, General Terms and Conditions and Terms of Use, the establishment of the contract, as well as the content and scope of ConnectedDrive can be obtained as follows:

Services and applications may be provided in the following ways:
In the scope of the vehicle order; e.g., as optional equipment.
Via the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal on the Internet.

BMW Teleservices
Principle
Teleservices are services that help to maintain vehicle mobility.
General information
The offering depends on the vehicle equipment and the national-market version.
For more information on available services, the vehicle manufacturer recommends contacting an authorized service center or the hotline/customer support.
Teleservices can comprise the following services:
BMW Roadside Assistance.
BMW Accident Assistance.
Teleservice Call.
Your authorized service center.
Prerequisites
Active ConnectedDrive contract, equipment with intelligent emergency call or BMW ConnectedDrive services.
Cellular network reception.
Standby state is switched on.
The corresponding consent for the transmission of the data was selected and given in the Data Protection menu.
Teleservice Call
Automatic Teleservice Call
Principle
Teleservice data for vehicle service notifications is sent automatically to the authorized service center by BMW prior to the service due date. The authorized service center will contact you about arranging a service appointment, if possible.
General information
The authorized service center can use the transmitted data to prepare for necessary work in advance. This shortens the workshop visit.
Your service center
Principle
The desired service center is saved in the vehicle. This means that the service center can be contacted directly from the vehicle.
Functional requirements
The following prerequisites must be met to enable use:
The user has registered using ConnectedDrive access data.
The vehicle is assigned to the ConnectedDrive account in the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal.
Displaying service centers
The service center that is currently assigned to the vehicle is displayed as a contact in the vehicle.

The assigned service center is displayed along with all its contact information.
Depending on the vehicle equipment, the following functions are available in the contact:

Changing service centers
In special cases, for instance following a change of owner or a move, an adaptation of the entered service center may be necessary. The following options are available:
Via Hotline/Customer Support
From an authorized service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.
Where applicable, via the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal on the Internet.
Where applicable, independently via iDrive on the Control Display of the vehicle.

The assigned service center is displayed along with all its contact information.

You can search for a different service center under this menu item.
The current location of the vehicle is preselected to change the service center. Adjust the search criteria of the current location search as needed.
The new service center is informed of all future service notifications that are reported automatically or manually.
Updating BMW services
Principle
Starts the manual update of all services available in the vehicle.

Principle
Contact the hotline/customer support for information on all aspects of your vehicle.

The number of the hotline/customer support is displayed and a voice connection is established. If a voice connection is not established, dial the number manually.
BMW ConnectedDrive Services
Functional requirements
Subscription to the optional Convenience Plan.
Cellular network reception must be available.
The date setting on the Control Display is current.
BMW ConnectedDrive Store
Principle
Using ConnectedDrive, various services and functions for your vehicle can be booked or purchased at a later date.
General information
The range of services offered depends on the country. The vehicle must meet certain technical prerequisites.
Booking or purchasing services and functions
Depending on the national-market version, services and functions can be booked or purchased differently.
In the vehicle:

An overview is displayed of the services or functions booked in the vehicle and those that can still be booked.
To book or purchase a service or function, follow the instructions on the control display.
In the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal:
Call up the BMW ConnectedDrive Store via the BMW website.
Select the desired service or function.
Purchased services and functions are automatically transferred to the vehicle.
If necessary, services and functions must be activated in the vehicle.
Logging on to the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal on the Internet under: www.bmw-connecteddrive.com.
BMW messages
General information
Messages may originate from a range of different sources.
Messages from the manufacturer of the vehicle, for instance, with technical information or important customer information.
Displaying BMW messages

Messages from the manufacturer of the vehicle with technical information or important customer information cannot be deleted.
These messages are displayed as long as they are relevant.
Further functions
Depending on the equipment and the type of message, the following functions are available for a selected message:
Select the location to start destination guidance.
Select phone number to make a call.
Select the displayed icon to access the corresponding application.
Vehicle apps
Principle
The vehicle apps can be used to display information on the control display, for instance, the weather or news.
General information
BMW ConnectedDrive Services offer the option to display information regarding the weather or sports, for example, on the Control Display using apps and other functions.
Functional requirement
The following conditions must be met to display personal data:
Vehicle is linked with the ConnectedDrive account.
The corresponding driver profile is selected.

Third-party apps
Principle
Third-party apps approved by BMW can be used depending on the country. The third party provider is responsible for the content and scope of the available apps.
General information
Depending on vehicle equipment, it can be operated via iDrive, the buttons on the steering wheel, or via voice control.
For reasons of safety, some apps are usable only while the vehicle is stationary.
Information on use:
It may not be possible to use the functions of the selected app in the vehicle and on the smartphone at the same time.
The use of third-party apps can incur costs. These costs are borne by the user of the respective app.
For more detailed information, contact an authorized service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.
Functional requirement
An account with the provider may be necessary to use the app.
Opening apps
Via the main menu:

Select desired app.
Tap the desired function.
Via voice operation:

Press the button on the steering wheel.
Speak the command to access the desired app.
Accepting addresses as destinations
Depending on the app, an address can be accepted into the BMW navigation system as a destination.
Select the desired address.
"Check address" or, if necessary "Search for address online"
Correct entries, if necessary.

Exiting apps

Press the button on the Controller.

Press the button on the Controller when the main menu is displayed.
BMW Assistance
Principle
BMW Assist includes various services having to do with the vehicle, e.g., customer support. The services help maintain mobility.
General information
The offering depends on the vehicle equipment and the national-market version.
Assistance may include the following services:
Accident Assistance.
Roadside Assistance.
Customer support or Customer Relations.
For more information on available services, the vehicle manufacturer recommends contacting an authorized service center or the hotline/customer support.

A voice connection is established.
Remote Services
Principle
Remote Services enable some vehicle functions to be controlled remotely via the BMW app.
General information
The use of the Remote Services requires an active ConnectedDrive contract.
The vehicle is controlled via the BMW app. The BMW app is available for iOS from the Apple App Store and for Android from the Google Play Store.
The app can be used to lock and unlock the vehicle, for instance. Other functions may be available, depending on the vehicle.
Alternatively, remote control of certain functions can also be requested via the BMW ConnectedDrive Call Center.
Apple CarPlay© preparation
Principle
CarPlay allows select functions of a compatible Apple iPhone to be used via Siri voice control and iDrive.
General information
Depending on the national-market version, CarPlay may not be available. For more detailed information, contact an authorized service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.
The iPhone provides CarPlay and any associated apps. The scope and content depend on the equipment manufacturer and can vary depending on the country-specific version.
The following restrictions apply to an iPhone connected via CarPlay:
Not every app installed on the iPhone can be used via CarPlay.
Calling is only possible via CarPlay.
The iPhone cannot be paired as additional telephone.
The phone book entries are not transferred into the vehicle.
Only one additional telephone can be connected with the vehicle.
Using CarPlay can incur mobile radio costs. These costs are not a part of the optional vehicle feature.

The iPhone is connected to the vehicle.

Selecting CarPlay
CarPlay can be selected via different menus:
On the touchscreen via the status bar or using the display bar that is shown.

The iPhone music app opens.
Via the Communication menu:

Using CarPlay
CarPlay can be used via iDrive and voice operation.
Via voice operation:

Press and hold the button on the steering wheel until the Siri voice control is activated on the iPhone.
Say the same commands as if using the iPhone directly.

Switching between CarPlay and iDrive
To use the iPhone without CarPlay, CarPlay must be switched off. CarPlay remains active in the background and can be selected again at any time.

Select the entry to switch CarPlay off. The iPhone remains connected as a smartphone.

Select the entry to switch CarPlay on.
Exit CarPlay
The following options are available to exit CarPlay without switching CarPlay off:
Select the BMW icon in the CarPlay main menu.

Press the button on the Controller.

Press the button on the Controller when the CarPlay main menu is displayed.
Android Auto© preparation
Principle
Android Auto allows select functions of a compatible smartphone to be operated via Google Assistant voice control and via iDrive.
General information
Depending on the national-market version, Android Auto may not be available. For more detailed information, contact an authorized service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.
The smartphone provides Android Auto and any associated apps. The scope and content depend on the equipment manufacturer and can vary depending on the national-market version.
The following restrictions apply to a smartphone connected via Android Auto:
Not every app installed on the smartphone can be used via Android Auto.
The smartphone cannot be paired as additional telephone.
Only one additional telephone can be connected with the vehicle.
Using Android Auto can incur wireless service fees. These costs are not a part of the optional vehicle feature.

Selecting Android Auto
Android Auto can be selected via a variety of menus.
On the touchscreen via the status bar in the main menu or using the display bar that is shown:

The Music app of the smartphone opens.

Operating Android Auto

Press and hold the button on the steering wheel until the Google voice control is activated on the smartphone.
Say the commands familiar from the smartphone.

Turning Android Auto on/off
Turning off:

Select the smartphone with Android Auto function.

Select the entry to switch Android Auto off.
The smartphone remains connected as a smartphone.

If necessary, confirm Connection mode on the smartphone.
Detected devices are shown on the Control Display.
Select the desired smartphone for Android Auto.
Follow the instructions on the Control Display.
The smartphone is being connected via Android Auto.
Exiting Android Auto
The following options are available for exiting Android Auto without switching Android Auto off:
In the main Android Auto menu, select the EXIT button with the BMW icon.

My BMW app
Principle
BMW provides mobility-based services and applications in an app.
General information
The BMW app is available for iOS from the Apple App Store and for Android from the Google Play Store. The app must be downloaded and installed on the smartphone. The installation process depends on the smartphone that is used and the installed software.
When starting the app, a one-time registration is required provided no ConnectedDrive account with a BMW ID has been created yet.
The vehicle must be linked to the BMW ID in order to use the functions; you only need to do this once. The link is established with the app. Confirmation in the vehicle via iDrive is also required.
Some functions, e.g., BMW Remote Services, enable communication with the vehicle without the need for you to be inside or at the vehicle.
