Changing a Bulb

WARNING:  Switch the lamps and the ignition off. Failure to do so could result in serious personal injury.    WARNING:  Lamps and associated components become hot when in use. Let them cool down before you remove them.

Use the correct specification bulb.   See   Bulb Specification Chart. 

Headlamp

You may have to remove the headlamp assembly prior to replacing a bulb.   See   Removing a Headlamp. 

Reflector Headlamp

ADaytime running lamp.

AFront direction indicator. BHigh beam headlamp and daytime running lamp. CLow beam headlamp.

Low Beam Headlamp

1. Carefully remove the cover.

1. Press the clip up to release the bulb holder.

1. Remove the bulb holder by pulling it straight out.

1. Remove the bulb by pulling it straight out.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Note:   Do not touch the bulb glass.

High Beam Headlamp and Daytime Running Lamp

1. Carefully remove the cover.

1. Disconnect the electrical connector.

1. Turn the bulb holder counterclockwise and remove it.

Note:   You cannot separate the bulb from the bulb holder.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Note:   Do not touch the bulb glass.

Projector Headlamp

ADaytime running lamp.

AFront direction indicator. BHigh beam headlamp. CLow beam headlamp.

Low Beam Headlamp

1. Carefully remove the cover.

1. Disconnect the electrical connector.

1. Turn the bulb holder counterclockwise and remove it.

1. Remove the bulb.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Note:   Do not touch the bulb glass.

High Beam Headlamp

1. Carefully remove the cover.

1. Press the clip up to release the bulb holder.

1. Remove the bulb holder by pulling it straight out.

1. Remove the bulb by pulling it straight out.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Note:   Do not touch the bulb glass.

Daytime Running Lamp

These lamps have LEDs.

Note:   We recommend that you have LEDs changed by an authorized dealer.

Front Direction Indicator

1. Turn the bulb holder counterclockwise and remove it.

1. Press the bulb in and turn the bulb counterclockwise to remove it.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

LED Headlamp

ADaytime running lamp.

These lamps have LEDs.

Note:   We recommend that you have LEDs changed by an authorized dealer.

Front Fog Lamp

All Vehicles - Excluding: ST, ST Line and Vignale

1. Use a suitable tool, for example a screwdriver, to carefully remove the wheel arch liner fasteners. Pull the wheel liner back toward the tire to gain access to the bulb.

1. Disconnect the electrical connector.

1. Turn the bulb holder counterclockwise and remove it.

Note:   You cannot separate the bulb from the bulb holder.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Note:   Do not touch the bulb glass.

ST, ST Line and Vignale

1. Use a suitable tool, for example a screwdriver, to carefully remove the housing cover.

1. Remove the screws and the lamp.

1. Disconnect the electrical connector.

1. Turn the bulb holder counterclockwise and remove it.

Note:   You cannot separate the bulb from the bulb holder.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Side Direction Indicator

1. Use a suitable tool, for example a screwdriver, to carefully lever the mirror glass from the lower outer edge and remove it.

1. Unplug the connector from the rear side of the glass.

1. Use a suitable tool, for example a screwdriver, to carefully press the two housing cover clips and release them.

1. Use a suitable tool, for example a screwdriver, to push the housing cover through the access hole and remove it.

1. Use a T10 Torx screwdriver to remove the lamp body.

1. Turn the bulb holder clockwise and remove it.

1. Pull the bulb straight out.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Note:   Make sure that both mirror housing cover clips lock into position.

Note:   We recommend that you have bulbs changed by an authorized dealer.

Rear Lamp

Remove the rear lamp assembly prior to replacing any bulb.   See   Removing a Rear Lamp. 

Rear Lamp and Stoplamp

1. Turn the bulb holder counterclockwise and remove it.

1. Press the bulb in and turn the bulb counterclockwise to remove it.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Note:   High series have LEDs.

Note:   We recommend that you have LEDs changed by an authorized dealer.

Rear Direction Indicator

1. Turn the bulb holder counterclockwise and remove it.

1. Press the bulb in and turn the bulb counterclockwise to remove it.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Reversing Lamp

1. Turn the bulb holder counterclockwise and remove it.

1. Press the bulb in and turn the bulb counterclockwise to remove it.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

License Plate Lamp

These lamps have LEDs.

Note:   We recommend that you have LEDs changed by an authorized dealer.

High Mounted Stoplamp

These lamps have LEDs.

Note:   We recommend that you have LEDs changed by an authorized dealer.

Rear Fog Lamp

Access the underside of your vehicle behind the rear wheel.

1. Turn the bulb holder counterclockwise and remove it.

1. Press the bulb in and turn the bulb counterclockwise to remove it.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
