Initial Drive Information

This section provides a brief overview about some of the important features that may or may not be on your specific vehicle.

For more detailed information, refer to each of the features which can be found later in this owner manual.

Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System

The RKE transmitter is used to remotely lock and unlock the doors from up to 60 m (195 feet) away from the vehicle.

Press

Lock and unlock feedback can be personalized.

Press and hold for approximately one second to for approximately one second to open the trunk.

Remote Vehicle Start

With this feature the engine can be started from outside of the vehicle.

Starting the Vehicle

1. Aim the RKE transmitter at the vehicle.

2. Press . .

3. Immediately after completing Step 2, press and hold flash. until the turn signal lamps flash.

When the vehicle starts, the parking lamps will turn on and remain on as long as the engine is running.

The doors will be locked and the climate control system may come on.

The engine will continue to run for 10 minutes. Repeat the steps for a 10-minute time extension. Remote start can be extended only once.

Canceling a Remote Start

To cancel a remote start:

• Aim the RKE transmitter at the vehicle and press and hold turn off. until the parking lamps turn off.

• Turn on the hazard warning flashers.

• Turn the ignition switch on and then off.

Door Locks

Manual Locks

From the outside, unlock the door using either the key or the RKE transmitter.

From the inside, use the power door lock switches or manual lock knobs located at the top of the door panel near the window.

Power Door Locks

On vehicles with power door locks, the switches are located on the front doors.

(Unlock): Press to unlock the doors. (Unlock): Press to unlock the doors.

(Lock): Remove the key from the ignition and press (Lock): Remove the key from the ignition and press to lock the doors.

Trunk Release

In addition to the trunk release button on the RKE transmitter, there is a remote release button located button located on the instrument panel.

Windows

On vehicles with power windows, the switches are on

On vehicles with power windows, the switches are on the driver door armrest. Each passenger door has a switch that controls only that window.

Press the switch to lower the window. Pull the switch up to raise it.

Seat Adjustment

Manual Seats

1. Lift the bar under the seat to unlock the seat.

Power Lumbar

On vehicles equipped with either a two-way or four-way

Heated Seats

On vehicles with heated seats, the controls are located on the front doors and the ignition must be on to use the feature.

Head Restraint Adjustment

Do not drive until the head restraints for all occupants are installed and adjusted properly.

Sensing System for Passenger Airbag

The passenger sensing system will turn off the right front passenger frontal airbag and seat-mounted side impact airbag under certain conditions. The driver airbags and roof-rail airbags are not affected by this.

The passenger airbag status indicator will be visible on the overhead console when the vehicle is started.

Mirror Adjustment

Exterior Mirrors

Controls for the outside

Controls for the outside power mirrors are located on the driver door armrest.

1. Press the left or right side of the selector switch located beneath the control pad to choose the driver or passenger side mirror.

2. Press one of the four arrows located on the control pad to move the mirror in the desired direction.

Manually fold the mirrors inward to prevent damage when going through an automatic car wash. To fold, push the mirror toward the vehicle. Push the mirror outward, to return to its original position.

Interior Mirror

The vehicle has an automatic dimming inside rearview mirror. Automatic dimming reduces the glare of lights from behind the vehicle. The dimming feature comes on and the indicator light illuminates each time the vehicle is started.

Press the mirror, to turn the button, located on the mirror, to turn the dimming feature and compass on or off.

Steering Wheel Adjustment

The lever is located on the

The lever is located on the left side of the steering column.

To adjust the lever:

1. Hold the wheel and pull the lever toward you.

2. Move the steering wheel up or down into a comfortable position.

3. Release the lever to lock the wheel in place.

For vehicles with a power

For vehicles with a power tilt control, it is located on the left hand side of the steering column.

To adjust the power tilt wheel:

• Push the control up or down to tilt the steering wheel up or down.

• Push the control forward or rearward to move the steering wheel toward the front or rear of the vehicle.

Interior Lighting

Courtesy Lamps

When any door is opened, the interior lamps turn on to enter and exit the vehicle. Turn the instrument panel brightness control left side of located on the left side of the steering wheel, completely clockwise to manually turn on these lamps.

Front Reading Lamps

The front reading lamps are located on the headliner.

Press the button near each lamp to turn them on or off.
