We have classified the 429 complaints from 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer about FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE into the following categories.
2005 chevrolet trailblazer. consumer writes in regards to reimbursement for fuel level sensor recall repairs. *smd the consumer stated the exhaust manifold needed to be replaced. the consumer requested to be reimbursed for the sensor recall and the manifold repairs, *js
Immediately after filling the gas tank the gas gauge went from showing a full tank to showing empty and the gas light came on. after a few miles the gas gauge was showing a half tank. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was advised that the fuel level sensor could potentially fail prematurely. the manufacturer was made aware of the concern. the failure and current mileage was 48,000. updated 08/14/14*lj updated 8/29/2017*cn
The fuel gauge malfunctions after filling tank - it reads empty immediately and intermittently thereafter at any fuel level. it makes it difficult for traveling any long distance as you are not quite sure how much fuel is available or if it will shut down on me during a difficult situation. we have contacted gm and they want to charge me to check it and this has been reported as a problem for multiple models to gm. this is very scary as i travel long distances to and from work each day - i feel that this puts me in harms way. i don't believe that i should pay to a defective part that gm knows about but doesn't acknowledge. *tr
I just purchased this vehicle yesterday from a dealership. they filled the gas tank up before i drove it off the lot because, they said, "the gas gauge isn't working." i was looking up what it could be and noticed there was a lot of people with complaints of this, 668 people. i suppose i'm the 669th person. there wasn't a recall that i could find, but investigations were being done? *tr
Approximately 5 or 6 months ago i started noticing when i would fill my tank, the fuel gauge would not register full. i took my car to the dealership and they told me it was the fuel sensor that wasn't working. they told me it would be $600 for a new one. i couldn't afford that, so now i use my mileage indicator as to when i fill up. *tr
Vehicle's headlamps will power surge, dim while driving periodically. fuel sensor showed constant empty until repaired by the recall. vehicle will occasionally surge forward revving on it's own at random times. the blower resistor pack has burnt up twice, the blower motor has been replaced as well as the melted wires.now the vehicle will not start. the power windows, locks, radio, dome lights, dash lights are inoperative and the vehicle will not attempt to turn over. seems like this vehicle has had a lot of electrical issues. *tr
After filling up with gas and restarting the engine i heard a "ding" followed by gas empty light indicator. the suv will now not move off of "e" and the empty light indicator will not go off either. *tr
Fuel gauge pegged out past full then returned to empty. it has not been correct since. mechanics i have talked to said this is an ongoing problem with the trailblazers. i think there should be a recall issued for the problem. i noticed on the nhtsa website that there have been over 600 complaints filed. this could be a real problem and could possibly be a real safety hazard to families. suppose you run out of fuel going down the interstate at 70 mph and you run out of fuel and can't get to the emergency lane, someone could possibly rear-end you because you can't get over. i think this should be fixed at gm's cost. *tr
My fuel gauge reads empty after i fill the tank with fuel. after driving some duration of time the tank will only read a quarter of a tank full. i find this to be a hazard because i travel for long distance trips and you are unable to get an accurate reading of the amount of fuel that is in your tank. i have read this to be an issue on multiple different websites with the same make and model and i believe that gmc should offer to pay full price and fix the issue because it appears to be a defect. *js
My 2005 chevrolet trailblazer shows empty when vehicle is filled up, this lasts until close to a quarter tank has been used; frequency: 100% of the time. contacted prior owner and he confirmed it had been doing it off and on since 2 year of ownership but dealer could not duplicate. took to chevrolet dealership for diagnostic and was told its the fuel sending unit, a common problem in my year in particular. vehicle also is beginning to have issues with showing correct fuel left when it drops below a quarter tank, it does not drop consistently which would lead to my running out of gas if i trusted it, to date i fill before it gets to a quarter tank to avoid the problem. *tr
Driver side master power window switch does not work the driver side window at all! out of the blue this stopped working. further research shows that the 2006-2007 models were recalled not the 2005! really, this car is "currently registered in a cold weather state which uses salt to clear the roads" (direct quote from general motors and isuzu recall 258,000 suvs, the associated press, august 19, 2012) since 12/2005 which is when the vehicle was purchased. just because my vehicle did not have a fire "yet" but i have the "exact" problem which arose before these vehicles did catch fire, mine is not recalled? not only was the transmission recalled in 2008, i had a problem with the "blower motor" not working when you turn on the heat. you could only turn on the heat to no. 4. the truck was taken for service on 1/10/06, 1/30/06, 2/7/06 and 2/17/06 which was not even 2 mo. after purchasing said vehicle before the problem was corrected. in 11/06 the "fuel pump module" was replaced and covered "only" because i had the extended warranty and i had to pay the $100.00 deductible, because i had gas but it was not registering. again, i continue to have this problem. when calling gm on 7/24/13 about the window switch recall, i now find out that there is a "special coverage" for the "fuel level sensor". this is covered until 7/24/14, per gm (866-694-6546), unless you have more than 120,000 something miles. was not sure of the mileage exactly since mine is below that figure. the window switch is a serious malfunction that needs to be covered in "all years" of this vehicle. while sitting at a red light with your foot on the brake, the vehicle will just rev up and want to take off. i guess this isn't a "big deal" either. you can't even listen to the radio to distract you with all these problems going on because the radio only comes out of "one" speaker! go figure, it is gm! *tr
2005 chevrolet trailblazer. consumer writes in regards to vehicle fuel gauge sensor issues. *smd the consumer state the first time the fuel gauge starting acting erratic was in 2007. the dealer informed his wife, the vehicle had ran out of gas, even though the gauge indicated there was 1/2 tank of gas. the consumer stated he continues to experience an erratic behavior of the fuel pump and the low fuel indicator light illuminated. the latest preliminary diagnosis was the vehicle was unable to sustain an idle, because of the erratic fuel pressure (fuel pump). the consumer also stated the vehicle has electrical problems and the oil pressure gauge was inoperative.
Fuel gauge reads empty when car is filled and the needle only moves a little..i never can tell how much gas there is. *tr
The fuel gauge reads empty when there is plenty of gas in the tank. it sometimes read full when there is little gas left. *tr
2005 trailblazer ext, 55500 miles, bought new. in january 2013 i filled up my gas tank. within one block of leaving the gas station the fuel gauge went to 0 (empty). thereafter, the gauge reads intermittently between what seems to be normal & empty. the error code p0463 (obd ii, obd2) indicates a fuel sending unit failure. this leaves me with a dangerous vehicle. why? scenario: your traveling 60 mph, run out of fuel & now have a disabled vehicle on a highway with other travelers whizzing by. the repair for the fuel sending unit is said to be $600 to over $1000. by the way, i had a '97 s10 blazer that had the same problem. i understand there are currently almost one million complaints registered for the same thing on gm vehicles.
While driving to work i felt my truck lose power a few times while slowing to stop as well as taking off after a complete stop. my fuel tank was approximately half full and it kept feeling like i was running out of gas. this really scared me because i was in the middle of heavy traffic and trying to accelerate it finally kicked in and i almost ran into the person in front of me. please let me know what i can do about this? thank you very much. *tr
I have a 2005 chevy trailblazer ext that has a faulty gas gauge i cannot tell how much gas i have its extremely dangerous when you have children you need to pick up daily and drive to practives not knowing how much gas you have so your always in a panic to put more. *tr
My vehicle shows gauge light as empty even after filling up. my vehicle stopped in middle off road on early morning traffic. now we have to estimate mileage to make sure we are not left without gas, very frustrating and unsafe but can't afford to fix. *tr
Filled up truck and gas gauge still said it was empty. gas gauge is faulty and no longer works. have to keep track of mileage now so i don't run out of gas. i also read that gm is willing to cover half the cost and were suppose to send a letter stating that. never received anything. not at all impressed with gm and will find it hard to stay a loyal customer. *tr
I was driving during summer time and my fuel gage went from full to empty for no reason. i had just filled up, so i knew there was gas in the tank. it has since given me random readings. if i let the gas level fall below 3/4 of a tank. it will go to empty even if i filled the tank. it does work randomly sometimes. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving approximately 25 mph, the brakes failed. the failure occurred intermittently for three years. the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 62,000. the window regulator, battery cable, tank level sensor, clutch fan, serpentine belt, tight outer tie rod, hood latch, water pump, were all replaced. also, the rotors were warped, due to rust by climate, the rear brakes pads were worn and had to be replaced. the front rotors were machined. there was an intermittent surge after accelerating from a stop. there was a squealing noise coming from the brakes. the passenger side brake lights were blowing out. the tail light circuit board was replaced. the check engine light illuminated, due to a faulty emission vent valve and hose assembly. the abs was engaging, when coming to a stop. updated 10/01/14
The vehicle presented with error on reading the speed one is traveling at. fuel gauge not working properly and not reading gas correctly. *tr
The fuel gauge stopped working then all the other gauges of the instrument panel began intermittently then permanently stopped working. aside from the battery gauge, the least important of them all. *tr
Gas gauge stopped working which resulted in running out of gas on a major highway. *tr
Fuel gauge does not work. shows that there is fuel when it is empty and appears to show empty at random times as it's showing me empty when i just filled up. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the odometer and fuel level gauge failed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated that the clusters needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 110,000. *tr
I filled up my gas tank completely and the gas gauge registered "empty." the truck has also stalled a few times in both drive and reverse. this is extremely dangerous as i was backing into traffic when it stalled. i had to quickly re-start it to avoid being hit by oncoming traffic. since my fuel gage sensor broke i have been watching the needle go from "full" to "empty" all within a minute. i've done some research on this matter and have found that chevrolet used a cheaper fuel sensor manufacturer (delco) in order to save money. the customer should not be responsible for any of the cost to repair the fuel sensor. please advise chevrolet to recall this faulty part at their expense. thank you. *tr
The fuel gauge has stopped working and i never know how much fuel i have.....is there a recall? *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel gauge indicated a level of empty although the fuel tank was full. the low fuel warning light was also illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics. the contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the fuel tank sending unit was fractured and would have to be replaced. there was an investigation under nhtsa action number: dp10001 (fuel tank fuel system, other:storage:fuel gauge system) that could possibly have been related to the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 175,000.
1 fuel level sensor not working 2. 70% of the time 3.by gm nothing 2005 trailblazer. *tr
Cluster instrument panel failed. rpm odometer doesn't work, speed ranges from 80-off the charts, gas gauge not accurate. apparently big problem w/over 300 complaints yet no recall. firestone just quoted me $700 for a remove and replace instrument cluster gauge. $600 for the gauge itself. i can't afford that. *tr
After filling my gas tank and exiting gas station. i noticed that my fuel gauge was showing half full, even though i just put in 20 gallons of gas in the tank. as i drove further down the rode i noticed the gauge would go back and forth from empty to full stopping at different points. at some points would stay at empty. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel gauge would erroneously provide an empty reading when the fuel tank was filled to capacity. the contact stated that the check engine light would sporadically illuminate when the failure occurred as well as the vehicle exhibiting sporadic stalling. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection or repairs. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 72,000 and the current mileage was 73,000.
Fuel sensor stopped working. *kb
My fuel sensor and fuel pump have stopped working on my vehicle. i would like to have this fixed but i don't have the $1100.00 to pay for it. *tr
Gas gauge fails. after completely filling gas tank, gauge still shows below empty and light stays on. this has been going on for several months. i have run out of gas twice - once at a busy intersection and was fortunate to coast thru the intersection and make it to the side. i now track my gas usage via mileage but this is not accurate and causes me to have to stop and put gas in every other day for fear of breaking down again with my four year old son in the car. i have a couple of friends that also own 2005 trailblazers and they are also having the same problem. i have found numerous online forums discussing this an i am surprised chevrolet has not issued a recall. if they have, i have never been notified. this is a serious issue and chevrolet should be responsible and resolve this before someone is seriously hurt because of this problem. *tr
Fuel gauge stopped working. *tr
On december 21, 2011 my fuel had a half tank of gas. i went into the store and came out my fuel registered empty light came on. i rushed to the gas station to put more gas in and thought some one stole my gas out of my tank. this happened with the amount of fuel in my tank not registering four times since the first incident. than on january 01, 2012 my front wind shield wipers will not stop. when i turn off the vehicle they stop, when i turn on the vehicle they continue to wipe my windows until i turn my vehicle off. *tr
The gas gauge no longer works. i filled my suv up with gas, the gauge reads empty. while driving the gauge will bounce from 1/2 tank to full to empty. i never really know how much gas i have or when i will run out. looking on the internet i see that this has been a very common issue for a bunch of people. *tr
Gas gauge is reading wrong. once i fill up the tank with gas, it's reading empty and the gas light is on. it fluctuates all over the place while driving it. *tr
The speedometer in my vehicle suddenly shows over 120 mph no matter what speed i am traveling. i have found this to be a common complaint. the fuel gauge is also very inaccurate never showing more than 1/4 tank of fuel regardless of how much i put in. *kb
Gas gauge went to empty while traveling down a steeper hill. low fuel light came on as well, even though the gauge had been reading approx. 1/4 tank remaining. stopped and filled the tank but gauge did not move from empty and fuel light stayed on even with a full tank of gas. no longer able to gauge fuel levels and have to track it using trip mileage. *tr
Fuel gauge remains at empty even with a full tank. tt
I was driving on the highway at 70mph when my engine suddenly cut. i lost power steering and brakes. luckily, traffic was clear enough and an exit ramp was accessible; however, i had a very difficult time steering to the side and thought i was going to be unable to brake. i was stranded on the off ramp for hours by myself in 40 degree weather and no heat. my gas gauge has not worked for several months (see my first complaint 10408603). i have been guessing at amount of fuel by miles driven. i should have had at least 30 miles more of gas. obviously, this is not a safe way to gauge fuel level. it will cost $600 to have the fuel system fixed. because this is an obvious problem with trailblazers, i feel the company should issue a recall. *tr
The fuel gauge registers empty when the tank has just been filled. it never recovers to an accurate reading and has never since this incident initially occured. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel gauge malfunctioned due to a faulty fuel sensor and the contact was not able to read the correct fuel levels in the vehicle. the manufacturer was contacted and offered to cover fifty percent of the repair costs. the failure mileage was 105,000.
My 2005 trailblazer has begun to have several problems and in speaking to other chevy owners the same problems have been found in other models and years of chevy trucks and suvs. i'm very disappointed to see that chevy chooses not to recall, which is why i'll never purchase another chevrolet. beginning a few months ago my gauges began to be erratic. starting with my speedometer sticking at zero and then later sticking at 60mph even while sitting still. sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. next while sitting at traffice lights or stops signs my engine began to surge forward without applying the gas. when the vehicle surges the rpm gauge also jumps up. i already replaced one transmission at 50k miles and now since passing 100k miles have begun to have rough shifting again in my vehicle. i do not drive my vehicle in a rough manner, speed, or haul a trailer, so there is no reason to be going through transmissions. now my fuel gauge has stopped working and i'm having to track my mileage with my odometer. i've never seen a vehicle with so many problems and no help offered from the maker. * tr
We ran out of gas on the highway 20 miles from a gas station with kids in the car. the gas gauge in our 05 chevy trailblazer was wrong and indicated we had gas in the tank. *kb
I have a 2005 chevy trailblazer the gas gauge has stopped working. it is always on empty even when i fill it up. i received a letter that gm would pay for half only if it had less than 100,000 miles on it. i have seen this is a constant problem but still no recall. *tr
