Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel gauge sensor failed. when filling up the vehicle with gasoline, the "fuel gauge empty" warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. in addition, the fuel gauge would fluctuate and display incorrect fuel levels. the dealer stated that the vehicle could not be repaired under warranty. the contact could not determine how much fuel was in the vehicle. the vehicle has not been repaired. the current and failure mileages were less than 51,000. updated 8/18/09 *cn updated 08/21/09.*jb

My wife's 2005 chevy trailblazer's fuel gauge failed. she was driving on the road thinking she had a 1/4 tank or so of gas when it was actually empty causing her vehicle to stall which nearly resulted in an accident. fortunately for us, the driver behind her had ample distance to stop before hitting her vehicle. when the chevy dealer was contacted they indicated they were aware of a faulty pickup (?) in the tank and but it has not been recalled by general motors. i feel it should be recalled by the manufacturer and fixed. if this occurred on the highway there most likely would have been a serious accident. thank you for your time and please mandate a recall for this serious and possibly dangerous defect. *tr

Purchased 11/24/2008 ~20k miles. within 5months a whole host of issues started, the 1st being the fuel gauge not working by showing full & actually not (ran out of gas twice) and then showing empty after fillup. 1week later the engine light came on & the instrument panel stopped working. ~ one year later, dec 2009 the speedometer fluctuated from working properly to ~50-55mph base instead of 0. after a few days, the speedometer did zero-out but then did not show any speed but stayed at 0. along with the speedometer issue are the headlights dimming sporadically. all of the issues have continued on-off since. march 2012 the windshield reservoir started leaking/cracked. february 2013 had tuneup, brakes, and thermostat replaced and since then add front vents stopped working plus severe, sporadic, high idle - driving to work (metropolitan, downtown, capital of state-high rush hour) the high rev started and all i wanted was to get to workplace parking lot ~2miles. 2blcks fr pkg lot, i was braking at a left, dblturn light with the rev & brakes grabbingh/counteracting. i come to a full stop but my suv revs to over 3rpms & i thought the trblzr would break free & crash into the cars in front of me! i have a "christine" car and hate the feeling of driving an unsafe vehicle that chevy won't recall/fix and i can't afford to buy anything else currently or get all these issues repaired. i place mine, my kids and passengers' lives & safety into jeopardy every time we get in to drive/ride. i only have 78k miles and 1yr of car pymnts left. i will never buy another chevy again and i was a diehard chevy and "buy american" consumer. this vehicle is a piece of junk. my next purchase will be any vehicle that is safe, whoever the manufacturer may be. can anything be done to help??? *tr

My trailblazer's gas gauge has read empty for over 2 years now, the light is constantly on. it has caused breakdowns while driving. after reading other posts, this should be recalled no matter how many miles are on the truck. *tr

2005 chevy trailblazer gas gauge reads empty light on all the time last two years. *tr

2005 chevy trailblazer gas gauge does not work anymore. i have seen many complaints about this online. *tr

This seems to be a pervasive problem with recent models of chevy trailblazers; the fuel gauge goes up and down erratically when the vehicle is either low on fuel or is recently filled up. some sources indicate that the problem is with a faulty fuel pump sensor, which requires the gas tank to be removed and a sending unit sensor replaced. faulty equipment should be recalled, and not left for the chance that the problem will happen while still under warranty. *tr

My fuel gauge stopped working properly. i have been driving with the mileage meter set and make fill ups when i have 300 miles. *tr

I filled my 2005 chevy trailblazer and the fuel gauge started bouncing between the full and empty marks. shortly afterwards my check engine light came on. i took into my dealership and was told i had to replace the fuel sensor inside the gas tank for approx $900. i do not have the resources for the repair at this time so i will fill up every couple days to make sure i don't run out of gas. i researched on the internet and found multiple websites that indicates this is common with 2005 trailblazers. *tr

2005 chevrolet trailblazer fuel tank level sensor quit working . gas gauge light always on and showing empty and always beeping. never know how much fuel i have. does the same thing when tank is full. i spend alot of money in fuel because it's aggravating to keep track of mileage constantly. afraid i could get stranded or be hit if i run out while driving. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevy trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel gauge sensor was not working. the gauge displayed empty when the fuel tank was full and full when the fuel tank was empty. the vehicle also stalled due to the sensor in the tank indicating that the gauge was empty. the contact is concerned about the safety risk since the vehicle could be out of fuel but indicate that it was full. the current mileage was 107,000 and the failure mileage was 78,000.

Fuel gauge stopped working, reads empty at any fuel level, *tr

Fuel just stopped working, driving down the road and headlights start dimming gauges go all over the board. put a new battery in, changed the alternator and it continues to do this. check engine light keeps coming on for oxygen sensor had that replaced 1 year ago needs replaced again. *tr

1. check engine light stays on consistently no matter what repairs i have done. 2. speedometer fails to constantly. i recently got a speeding ticket for not staying within speed limit. 3. dealership has constantly said they have not heard of any complaints by any consumers. 4. onstar system has failed from a year after purchase. 5. occasionally stalls and smells of gasoline. *tr

First, fuel gauge, then the entire instrument panel stopped working. *jb

I am having problems with false readings with my fuel gauge. like everyone else, i fill up my tank and the gas gauge reads empty, but after about 20 minutes it would read full. now it reads full for 20 minutes and then starts to go down. i was told that is was a possible short in the wiring around the fuel pump. great, a good way to start a fire!!.. i am a gm employee of 14 yrs and think this problem should be fixed and fixed now. way too many people are having problems with this issue..... *tr

Speedometer no longer registers correct speed. gauge reads 110 mph while vehicle is sitting motionless in drive way. while driving speedometer swings wildly. while traveling using gps unit to give speed vehicle speedometer was consistently off by more than 50 mph. *tr

Chevy trailblazer 2005 fuel gauge reads empty, even after a fill-up . only have 46k miles on suv. *tr

Fuel gauge fluctuates between empty and full. when tank filled plummets to empty and will fluctuate between one quarter and empty after 20 miles are placed on vehicle. *tr

Gas gauge in 2005 chevy trailblazer does not work properly, inaccurate readings. *tr

My gas gauge no longer works properly. it reads empty even when the tank is full. the car is 4 years old and has about 50k miles. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel pump in the tank became hot enough to deteriorate the insulation on the wires. as a result, the fuel gate unit malfunctioned. the manufacturer stated that they would repair the failure at $350, which is half of the price they are charging. the failure and current mileages were 50,000.

Over a yr ago my fuel gauge stopped working properly it reads empty all the time and my fiance has ran out of gas and been stranded 3 times since this has happen it is very important that this device works properly it costs approx. $500 just for the part alone and im noticing im not the only person having this same problem. *tr

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). yesterday i filed a report #10316373 to amend a report i sent in to add my vin number. i submitted the wrong vin number. the number i sent in was on a 1998 chevy blazer. i am sending a new report with the proper vin number. sorry for the error i submitted.[xxx] *tr

In regards to my complaint #1030331, dp10-001 regarding my complaint of my fuel sensor and gauge always reading empty and the fact that this has been going on for over a year on my 2005 chevrolet trailblazer, i didn"t have the vin number at the time. i would like to provide it to you at this time in your form. please add it to my previous complaint. this is a serious problem that seems to be prevalent in several years of the trailblazers existence and could be a very dangerous situation especially if the computer decides to shut the truck down at an inopportune time. i read where nissan is recalling one of their models because of the fuel gauge. where is gm in this matter? *tr

Fuel sensor within fuel tank has failed twice within 130,000 miles. idler pulley has been replaced three times within 120,000 miles. *tr

Dec 2008 gas gauge went out will no longer read advised chevrolet. i was advised it would be $800.00 to fix and this is a common problem. next my speedometer just went out 12/2011 147000 miles and i find this to be another common problem with chevrolet. *tr

2005 chevy trailblazer - gas gauge fails to function - always stays on empty so i could run out of gas with no warning.*tr

Fuel gauge does not read properly. needle on gauge floats from empty to full and will read low fuel when tank is full. have read of other complaints regarding this problem. why no recall? *tr

2005 chevy trailblazer fuel gauge no longer works. when you fill it up it registers empty and the low fuel light comes on. *tr

Instrument cluster malfunctioning. speedometer, tachometer and oil pressure gauges are inaccurate. also had to replace fuel sensor/sending unit before vehicle reached 50,000 miles. *tr

Nearly eight months after the purchase of the chevy trailblazer (april 2008) and while traveling from tennessee to new york the instrument panel that controls the rpm, odometer, speed, fuel gauge, oil level, temperature, etc. completely stopped working. while traveling in the state of new york on i-90 e the driver had no indication of the vehicle speed. when shifting from the left passing lane to the nearest middle lane a ny state trooper clocked the vehicle speed at approximately 90+ miles per hour. the driver was sighted with a speeding ticket during the thanksgiving holiday weekend. the vehicle owner had the instrument panel replaced at a cost of more than $500. however, soon after the instrument panel was replaced the gas sensor stopped working. the owner complained to the chevy service department but was told that this was a separate issue and not caused by the replacement of the instrument panel. the owner checked for recalls on the internet but found more complaints of the same and no recall information. since the gas sensor/gauge/fuel level indicator does not work the vehicle owners have run out of gas at least 3 separate times. once on a friday night at 10:00 p.m. on a dark winding road. another time on a very busy 4-lane thorough fare the vehicle owners with a passenger ran out of gas at a stop light. most recently was approximately 3-weeks ago. the vehicle owners have purchased at least 3 new gas cans since we cannot tell with the vehicle is full of gas or not. when the gas tank is filled up there's no way of knowing and the owners cannot tell when the vehicle is running low on fuel since the "low gas" fuel light stays on most of the time or the gas gauge rarely moves passed "e". the owners were quoted that the cost to repair would be upwards of $500+. *jb

Shortly after my 2005 chevy trail blazer was out of warranty the gas gauge failed and left me stranded. when i fill the tank it registers empty. also left my wife and child stranded one other time. the gas gauge registers empty all the time now. after researching this on the internet i found that there are 100's of people that have this problem with either there envoy or there trailblazer. also have had a smell of gasoline from time to time. *tr

This goes with the office of defects investigation nhtsa action number: dp10001. i have a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. this is the second time the fuel area of the vehicle is having to be repaired. my fuel sensor is no longer working. this area of the vehicle is defective and, according to my search on the internet, many, many people have had the same issue (some multiple times) with the 05 trailblazer. this could result in the vehicle running out of gas without warning which could result in an accident. i have spoken with gm on multiple occasions regarding this issue as well as the oil gauge not working. as stated, this will be the second ~$500.00 repair on the area of this vehicle. *tr

2005 trailblazer lt gas gauge read empty when should read full , and when the truck is in drive the gas gauge goes up then goes back down. *tr

The fuel gauge on my 2005 chevy trailblazer has stopped working. the gauge always reads empty even after filling the tank to the fill level. this problem just started happen out of the blue one day about 6 months ago. have been reading online that many people are running into this issue with 2004-2006 chevy trailblazers. to date, i have not had the problem looked at, but will be within the next week. *tr

The speedometer, fuel gauge & oil pressure gauge do not work. i've look this problem up and there are thousands of complaints regarding these issues - why hasn't this been recalled!!! *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel gauge was not working properly on the instrument panel. he took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the fuel sensor located inside the gas tank was faulty and needed to be replaced. through online research, the contact discovered that fuel sensor failures for the trailblazers were very common. the vehicle has not been repaired due to the treatment the contact received at the dealer. he feels that the information about the fuel sensor should have been shared by the dealer, rather than being discovered on the internet. he also feels that the vehicle is unsafe because there could be no fuel in the tank unbeknownst to the contact. the current mileage was 57,985 and failure mileage was 52,000.

The fuel gauge will say empty when the tank is actually full. also the gauge is not accurate, never goes about 1/2. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated the fuel gauge became inoperative. the dealer diagnosed that the vehicle would need a fuel level sensor. the manufacturer assisted the contact with repairing the defect. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 53,000 and the current mileage was 73,838.

I started having problems with the fuel sensor last night. i started my 2005 chevy trailblazer and the gauge said half tank, left work a few hours later, the fuel light was on and after driving a few miles, it went up to a quarter tank. just filled it up tonight and its on e and the gas light is stuck on. after doing some research, seems to be a common problem. *tr

When i bought this vehicle 2 months ago, i thought the gas gauge was empty upon purchase, as it was a used car, but no it is the fuel system problem that everybody keeps mentioning. i fill the vehicle, and it only shows a half tank. then it will go to empty with the warning light coming on. as someone who travels a lot, and for long distances, this is a horrible defect. the exhaust manifold has become loud, which means another expense on a 2005 which shouldn't be happening. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the ignition switch failed in his vehicle and was replaced by the dealer. the resistance pig tail (wiring harness), the fuel pump module, and the clutch also failed; however, the dealer stated that the contact must pay for the repairs. the dealer stated that there were no recalls for the vehicle and it cannot be repaired for free. the failure mileage was 76,000. 4/01/09 *nj the water pump, pulley and serpentine belt was replaced. updated 04/09/09. *jb

1.) no events took place dashboard cluster just failed. 2.) speedometer, oil gage, rpm, gas gauge everything went haywire, impossible to tell speed... 3.) my understanding is the dash board cluster is bad, its 450-600 dollars to repair, there has been alot of complaints but no recall yet? this should be a recall, this issue is well documented and known about... this is a safety issue, the speedometer should work, the instruments should work. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel gauge was not functioning correctly. the gauge would show that the fuel level was empty and caused the indicator to illuminate. the dealer stated that the failure was caused by a faulty fuel sensor, which would cost approximately $700 to repair. the vehicle has not been repaired. most recently, the speedometer malfunctioned and would become stuck on 40 or 90 mph. occasionally, the contact would have to use the rpms to measure her speed. she had not taken the vehicle to the dealer or notified the manufacturer. the current mileage was approximately 83,000 and failure mileage was approximately 79,000.

The events leading up to failure i had just put gas in my car and my gas gauge would go down gas light would come on then it would go back indicating i had gas. then i would notice that my light was on knowing i had gas so the gas gauge kept going back and forth. i would put gas in my car but not being able to keep up with my gas because my gas gauge was not working correctly i ran out of gas while driving down the street, which is very scary and dangerous in the middle of traffic. this started about 2 and a half yrs ago and i went to find out what was the problem and the mechanic told me i had to replace the entire unit and it would cost about $550.00 to fix i didn't have that considering im still paying on the car i tried to monitor my gas but i keep running out. i would fill my car up and i would put gas in my car every day or two to be on the safe side, and that does not work either. the last episode i had was i put gas in my car on sunday which would at least take me to monday but i was on the highway and my car just cut off and i had to coast to safety. this is a problem i run out of gas too often i went online to see about parts for the gas gauge to be fixed only to discover that this has been a problem with so many other chevy trailblazers and other gm cars. i noticed this had been going on for years and gm has not done anything about it. this is a defect and they should have recalled the trailblazer. this is 1 of the major problems i have had with this car and i've had so many other problems that i've noticed other people were having also when i looked online. this problem of course started after my extended warranty was up. this has been so annoying to have your gas gauge stop working after you have brought a car brand new and is still paying on it. after my car was only a little 3yrs old that is ridiculous. how could gm get away with making cars ...

My vehicle is a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer: shortly after my last oil change on 8/11/2008 my fuel gauge began swinging between full and empty and every time i fill up my vehicle the "empty fuel light" stays on and the gauge reads empty even though the vehicle is full. i researched this problem online and have become aware that numerous people are having this problem and that gm is aware of it but they have neglected to do a recall. *tr

The fuel gauge stopped working almost immediately after my 3 year warranty expired. i have read on the online forums that this is a very common problem. also from talking to mechanics it appears that it is a very common problems with trailblazers. *tr

I have had the problem that so many others have had with the fuel gauge. after filling my tank, when i started my 2005 trailblazer the gauge read empty and the low fuel light was on. eventually, the needle did move to where i think it was maybe an accurate reading. how about the lunging forward the vehicle does when pulling into a parking spot which causes a danger to anyone possible walking in the area. also, for no apparent reason, my 4 wheel drive just stopped working. i have owned nothing but chevrolet's for the last 30 years and never have i been disappointed with any vehicle as i am with this one. oh yeah and i am also leaking transmission fluid. my 2005 trailblazer has approximately 80,000 miles on it which i don't feel warrants these major issues. *tr
