Pairing a Phone

To use hands-free phone and streaming audio functions, you must first pair your phone to the system. This can only be done when the vehicle is stopped. If there is an active connection to Apple CarPlay® (see Apple CarPlay) or Android Auto™ (see Android Auto), pairing of additional Bluetooth-compatible devices is unavailable and Add Bluetooth Device is grayed out from the Bluetooth Device List screen.

■Pairing the First Phone

  1. From the Settings Menu, press the PHONE button.
  2. Select Yes.
  3. Confirm your phone is discoverable, then select Yes.
  4. HFL searches for your phone. Select your phone when it appears on the list.

    If your phone does not appear:

    Select Refresh to search again. If your phone still does not appear, select Options, then Device Not Found? and search for HandsFreeLink from your phone.

  5. HFL gives you a pairing code. Compare it to the code that appears on your phone. Connect to HFL from your phone.
  6. A notification appears on the screen if pairing is successful.

■Pairing an Additional Phone

  1. Press the SETTINGS button.
  2. Select Bluetooth®/Phone Settings.

    Repeat the procedure to select Bluetooth® Device List, then Add Bluetooth® Device.

  3. Make sure your phone is in search or discoverable mode.

    HFL automatically searches for a Bluetooth® device.

  4. When your phone appears on the list, select it.

    If your phone does not appear, you can select Options... and Refresh to search again.

    If your phone still does not appear, select Options... to select Device Not Found? and search for Bluetooth® devices using your phone. From your phone, select HandsFreeLink®.

  5. HFL gives you a pairing code on the information screen.

    Confirm if the pairing code on the screen and your phone match.

    This may vary by phone.

  6. A notification appears on the screen if pairing is successful.
