Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2010 Ford Fusion

Vehicle is a 2010 fusion hybrid. vehicle hesitates for 1-3 seconds when accelerating from a stop. there is a delay because of what appears to be a failure of the hybrid drive system to provide adequate power. i also notice this during routine driving, although it is not a safety concern then. the hybrid power system has simply stopped providing the additional power required by the powertrain to operate properly. this is particularly problematic when pulling out of a side street onto a busy road. the car has enough power to get me into the middle of the road but then hesitates to accelerate properly for 2-3 seconds, presenting a danger to me and other cars. i am learning to compensate for this delay but this is safety concern for me and other drivers. other drivers of the same model of similar age are reporting the same issues on forums such as "fordfusionhybridforum.com"

My 2010 ford fusion had the service power steering light come on while driving down the highway, and then the power steering went out and the service advancetrac came on. i called the dealership and even though my car has two open recalls for airbags and fuel tank, along with an extended one on my throttle body, they can't get my car in until next month. i've tried disconnecting the battery terminals, and replaced the battery in hopes that it would reset the computer as the car does not have a power steering pump and is controlled by a computer chip.

Bought used ford fusion on 9/16/19 from fred bean cadillac- buick in doyalstown pa. after about driving it for 950 miles on 10/04/19 an yellow wrench icon appeared on the dash board and the car seemed to lose power. the car was parked and the car was turned off, once the car was restarted the wrench icon disappeared. made appointment with dealer where the car was purchased from at 7:30am on 10/05/19 to have the car looked at. was told no error code was found, but later that same day while driving home around 2:00pm the wrench icon reappeared and the loss of power happened turning off from rt 332 (yardley-newton rd speed 55mph) on to stony hill rd speed 40mph. once i go to a red light at stony hill and yardley langhorne rd intersection i turned car off, then restarted car and wrench icon disappeared.

Transmission fluid leaking bad from front of bell housing when in any gear. l/h axle seal went bad 3 years ago, fixed that been fine until this. a lot of tbs on this problem, time ford did something about it.

'takata' i have looked up the problem with my ford fusion 2010 which is the electrical power steering and there is no recall on the vechile but so many people are having problems with it. the models after it have a recall but none for the 2010 make. i feel as if, there should be a recall on any and every vechile ford makes. no matter the year or model. the manufacturer made the vechile and of its a problem that was not caused by customers but by the manufacturer then it should be fixed. some people can't afford to fix problems that are so expensive and the charge of labor like myself! my vechile was stationary when the power steering light had come on.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while the vehicle was parked, the contact experienced difficulty shifting the gear from park into reverse and the vehicle began to hesitate. on another occasion, while driving 30 mph and approaching a stop sign, the vehicle turned off, but was able to restart after several attempts. the contact depressed the accelerator pedal to the floorboard and the vehicle failed to respond initially. the contact heard an abnormal noise and the vehicle began to drive normally. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 148,000.

Well for one ford was supppse to have done transmission work on my car two years ago n now my car is doing the same thing. for example it started with when 8n park it rocks back and foward more the a inch in either direction. i seen where there was a recall on the transmission for that very problem but it was never fixed on my car. second thing is there were a recall on my airbags , ford had my car for 2 weeks n said they fix the airbag problem but that was a lie. i have plenty of recordings of the passenger airbags off light still coming on. so if u would be so kind and get these problems n recalls taking care of it would be great thanks..

While in motion my vehicle does not speed up when coming from a dead stop. even traveling speeds of 60mph i can not push on the gas and proceed fast enough to quickly switch lanes. it runs high rpms

While driving fusion service down highway sunday(12-16-18) service power steering now light came on & couldn't turn steering wheel without complications & had to get home to park car before i hit something due to steering wheel too hard to steer, car shaking, and couldn't hardly keep in lane. the service advance light also came on & both remain on & little to no control left to steer the car so car remains parked. ford knows there are issues with this part and extremely costly repairs and part is a necessity to safely operate the car. this part should be recalled and repaired at the cost of ford motor not their customers who seek a safe car to transport themselves and their families in.

My electronic power steering went out on the freeway. it's a known problem with the electronic power assisted steering.

Trans. problem happening for a long time. since 2015. trans jumps out of gear, loses power and lurches. experienced 3 near he ad on colisions when jumping out of gear. i have noticed scores of compaints online about this identical problem.all with vehical in motion.

Transmission slipping and engine racing

Takata recall: my daughter was driving her 2010 ford fusion when the steering wheel seemingly locked up. she was on the freeway and nearly wrecked in panic. luckily it did loosen enough for her to get off of the highway. this could have been a terrible situation.

This vehicle has been sitting for over a month due to my limited income as a veteran i can not afford to repair this issue at an estimate cost of $1600. this issue is not due to my negligence.power steering assist failure is the issue. i was driving it to work in dallas,nc when i experienced the steering wheel locked as i made a right turn into a parking space. after i struggled to get it into the parking space i also struggle to drive it home as well.once i got the vehicle home i called tindol ford in gastonia,nc regarding my concern i was informed that i need to have it diagnosed at my expense of $99. then if it is the epas (electric power assist system) repair estimate cost can be about $1600. this vehicle specifically had a recall before not sure but i think it was for airbag and or seatbelt. well since then i borrowed a temporary vehicle from family member due to repair cost being expensive. this ford fusion has a title lien through bridgecrest, in whom i finance with. vehicle is almost paid in full.this issue however is not any of negligence but more so a manufacturer issue. the epas consist of a trw component which consist of everything to this failure such as the hydraulic the belt drive the drive rack the coder interface etc. i had a local mechanic look at it and the observation made was it's a power steering issue that only manufacturer can correct due to the complexity. the trw is a non serviceable unit. enclosing i ask that you please contact the manufacturer and look into the facts of this matter which is fault of the manufacturer. i thank you in advance for your time and help with this matter.

Vehicle will lose power at times and hesitate upon acceleration

My abs and traction light stays on. my car shifts really bad when i hit an hole and when i go over 65 mph i fell like i am losing control.

My car has a problem hanging up when you accelerate. this is my second transmission. first one went out at 41,000 and i had to get a new one. the car has a total of 109,000 on it and i think this transmission is going out. it hangs up when you accelerate so i have to be careful about how i accelerate .so that the gears will change. it is an automatic transmission. it has been slipping for at least the past 10,000 miles, i am worried that it will go out again. the last transmission went out in heavy traffic in dallas texas. we almost died in that incident. the car wouldn't go and stopped in the middle of the intersection. i am worried that the same thing will happen with this transmission. this problem started last year in early part of 2017 and is ongoing

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving approximately 70 mph, the different gear selection options started to illuminate on the instrument panel. the service advance track warning indicator also illuminated. the vehicle started to decelerate, all the warning indicators illuminated, and the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was determined that the vehicle was stuck in fifth gear. the mechanic recommended that the vehicle be taken to the dealer for further diagnostic testing and repairs. the dealer was not notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 180,000.

Have a 2010 ford fusion. lf cv axel seal was leaking. took car in and had bushing, seal, and shaft replaced. drove car 150 miles. same exact issue. after researching this problem. this transmission leak is a "very" common problem with these cars. not only did i pay hundreds of dollars to fix the leak with all new parts, but this leak can cause the transmission to blow. ford needs to recall this and get the problem fixed. how does a person have all new parts put in to fix the leak and the problem still exist??? manufactures should have to stand by there products and fix such a major problem. every time i drive the car it leaks fluid. what will be next to fix?? my transmission because ford won't fix the problem.

Transmission failure due to inside bushing wearing out and damaging axle at 58,328 miles last week. we purchased this car new in 2010 and have taken good care of it. check engine light went on. last week and our mechanic discovered the damage during a routine oil change/maintenance check up. transmission and axle have to be replaced at $4300. ford company seems to be "aware" of this problem and nothing has been done. should be a recall and fall under the lemon law due to the number of complaints of transmission failure in the fusions and this is dangerous and expensive, to say the least. we are not the only ones to have this problem. not happy with ford motor company. doesn't fall under warranty even though we have less than 60,000 miles on it because we have had it longer than five years. also local ford dealership charges $100 just to do a check engine light test. the independent mechanics in town charge nothing.

Transmission slips, hard, going 1st to 2nd. transmission oil is black at 55,000 and the service "advancetrac" keeps coming on.

My car keeps switching to manual steering while i'm driving. there was a recall issued for the exact issue but not for my year or vin. i almost got in an accident trying to turn on a main street

I have noticed a vibration in my car at about 55-65 mph, upon further investigation i found out it is the power transfer unit for my awd. i am a mechanic and called ford for them to verify that the fluid is non servicable and is good for a life time. this is crazy because a new one is $900 or more not including labor, and because they are not servicable every about 80,000 - 100,000 miles you will have to replace it. who has $2,000 to spend every time this breaks to fix it. this is outrageous and ford should be doing something about this.

Takata recalls - i was driving and my car sensor came on saying power steering assist fault. i didn't think nothing of it. so the next day taking my daughter to school and my steering wheel would turn at all. i had to get towing services. i call ford about it they told me in customer no parts available at this time. the company is in bankrupt . they don't know when to get it in. when they do they will notify me

My car was having multiple issues. first the epas system went out as i was driving. there was a recall for previous versions but when i looked up the 2010 ford fusion 3.0lv6 awd it was not included even though it was one of the pioneer vehicles of fords to have the system. once i got the power steering repaired i started hearing a grinding. as i drove the car to my house to get a safe look all of a sudden there was a jerking and crunching sound as i drove on a straight road with slight grading. luckily i was only going 35mph and was able to control the vehicle. i took it to the mechanic and found out that it was the power transfer unit and the rear drive shaft. after talking to the mechanic he said that the ptu is one of the most commonly replaced parts in the awd ford vehicles. it is obvious after more research that ford is well aware that they are providing a faulty product and are placing them in all of their awd systems. my understanding is that the ptu unit in the ford fusion 2010 is the same as in all other ford awd vehicles. since i spent so much money to get the power steering fixed i had to put my car in a garage for the winter so i could save up to fix the now funked ptu. my car hasn't even cracked 89k miles.

Rolls while in park

Ford knows of the transmission fluid leak in the cars but ford and nhtsa wont do a recall on them and it is costing thousands of dollars to fix. ford ran a customer satisfaction program on it but the of course stopped it. i can not understand why the government would allow ford to screw the public on a major repair.

In lower gears / below 3500 rpm, i will occasionally experience a sudden deceleration, and then an abrupt acceleration as the vehicle attempts to make it to the commanded speed. this only occurs when the vehicle is already in motion, most often city streets, occasionally while accelerating onto a highway. i believe this creates a potentially dangerous situation, as a driver may not have the full, consistent acceleration that he expects to have. this issue began shortly after receiving "check fuel filter" codes, due to a poorly designed inner gas cap gasket, which allows for contamination to obstruct the easy fill system's inner seal. i believe this may also be related to an issue with a throttle body controller, similar to the many ford products and customers whom have submitted prior complaints. not sure why those throttle body controllers didn't get a recall, the problem is common enough and the potential damage substantial.

The passenger frontal airbag inflator could rupture if the vehicle is involved in a crash where the supplemental frontal airbags are designed to deploy. this defect report is in response to takata dirs 16e-042, 16e-043, 16e-044.

One day i got in my car to go out and the warning popped up service advancetrac and power steering failure. i turned my car off then back on and it was fixed. the next day it popped up with the same things, but this time turning it off did not fix the power steering. it has left me unable to use my car for a while, because i do not have the money to fix it. thank gosh this happened in my driveway. i read many stories about it happening while others where driving. please recall this issue ford...

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle hesitated before accelerating. the transmission and check engine warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 50,820.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving various speeds and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle shifted gears roughly. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the failure occurred on several occasions without warning. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 25,000.

Hard & rough shifting from 1-2 during startup and driving. transmission jolts vehicle forward or feels like the vehicle is going to stall mid-intersection or while getting on the highway.

This instance vehicle going steady 35mph and started revving rpm's up like it was going to shift into another gear, it then slammed and jerked the car and started the revving again. stopped at a stop light and turned left, while turning and hitting accelerator the car did not want to move and started revving again and then slammed and jerked almost making the person behind me rear end me. previous instance was a steady 75 mph on the flat highway and the same revving and slam/jerking had happened. 5th time it's done it this year alone. 13 times since 2011. this instance the orange wrench light came on the dash. car is at dealership to get looked at. this is very unsafe especially since it is erratic and does it at any time it feels like. this car is not safe to have my family in. *tr

Service engine light remained on along with throttle wrench light...car shaking little power....pulled over ,restart car lights still on , slow drive and shaky ride home..

The power steering module is broken on my vehicle. this has been an issue now for a few years. there is and has been an open recall for the same problem for 2011 and newer vehicle. this is a problem with my year make and model of my vehicle and apparently many others. this is a dangerous problem could cause accidents even death. if this is not fixed on 2010 vehicles as well. i will be taking matters to a lawyer. this is unsafe. i was driving my vehicle when it went out and almost crashed my car

My 2010 ford fusion started expierencing transmission problems while at a traffic light last week. the car suddenly went into neutral while the gear shift was in the drive position. after pushing the gas pedal to the floor for several seconds the car slamed into gear. i took it immediately for repair. there have been no issues with this transmission proir to this event. the car has exactly 111,856 miles on it to date. the ford dealership did an update on the powertrain control module and transmission control module. this did not fix the problem. upon further inspection, the car was found to need a complete transmission replacement. i did some research and found hundreds of complaints online about ford fusions having transmission issues. i contacted ford so that they could document yet another complaint about one of their fusions having transmission failure, and asked that there be a recall issued. they said they had no intention of issuing a recall. so i am asking the nhtsa to put some pressure on them to seriously consider issuing a recall before someone gets injured due to a tranmssion failure on the road.

Engine stalls/shuts down while driving. check engine light came on. alarm p2111 came up. throttle actuator control system - stuck open. my vehicle stalled while turning left with oncoming traffic. it did this 3 times while driving home from work. this is an intermittent issue. i take it to the dealer, they adjust, it works for a while, then occurs again. this is a very dangerous problem.

When vehicle is stationary throttle decreases to below 500 rpm, and sometimes stalls. transmission and engine check come in intermittently. ford aware of the throttle body and accelerator problem but won't fix it until broken. took it to dealership and paid $125 for diagnostic but they told me there is no problem. i called ford and they just referred me back to the dealership stating they are aware of the problem but won't fix it until it is broken. please help, i can't drive the car due to the safety concern.

Car looses power and the check engine and transmition light comes on car while driving at low rpms while driving on city streets . had to pull over and shut off car and restart in order to drive home . had computer system scaned and a p2119 code comes up for throttle body . just had car in for a 15s34 recall purge valve assy and has been doing this since . cleared code and for a coupe of days its fine then it starts all over agin

Loss of power during acceleration, due to transmission not shifting properly. the engine runs at high rpm, but car doesn't move. this only happens after car/transmission has been driven for hour or more. it appears based on internet searching, to be a common problem with 6f35 transmissions in fusions and escapes. this happens mostly on city driving - which after it is on highway speeds is in the top gear. on hot day, when the car is well warmed up, stop and go traffic is very difficult and could cause accidents.

Reported my ford fusion electronic throttle body issue yesterday. lost power while driving in rush hour traffic on the freeway - terrifying exerience. it is field service action 13n03. took to dealership today and they can't diagnose because the wrench light is not on right now. reading post, other owners state light goes on and off until car is drivable. my car just started acting up, but i can't get it fixed since it is not a recall. this car is unsafe to drive. i've attached my conversation with ford customer service chat.

Throttle body accelerator. started the vehicle, engine and wrench light on. car acceleration was jerky, almost stalled, and underpowered. internet states this is a common problem, but no recall.

Vehicle loses acceleration a wrench illuminates on the dash and i have both p2111 and p2112 trouble codes with a check engine light on. at highway speed the vehicle had to coast to the side and be restarted in order to accelerate. 2010 ford fusion hybrid with 46,900 miles on it.

While driving at highway speeds my vehicle lost power (i.e. the engine and electronics stayed active, however my accelerator no longer was operable). i coasted to the side of the road and my engine began to operate in a rough manner. i also noticed that my rpm indicator was bouncing erratically from low to about half way along the dial. my check engine light also illuminated. i shut the vehicle down and immediately turned it back on and operation was restored.

This first happened to me on june 1, 2016. my 2010 ford fusion loses power once in a while when driving. a wrench light appears on the dash board and the car starts to slow down, accelerator does not work and sometimes the car starts to shake. you will have to pull over, turn the car off for a few minutes and then turn it off in order to drive it until the light comes back on again. it is very dangerous to drive it in the highway and specially when speed limit its 50 and trucks or other cars are coming at a high speed behind you because you do not know when this is going to happen to you again. i have this problem for a few weeks. i took my car for a recall for something else on june 24, 2016 and i mentioned to them about this issue and they said everything was fine. but i'm sure it will not be fine if i get into a car accident after complaining about this issue. the dealer will ask if the light its on in order for them to check it. but i have mention that the light goes on and as soon as you lose power and turn the car off and on it disappears.

Car in motion rapidly decelerated on major highway at speed of 65 mph. code on computer showed a throttle body issue. ford has agreed to replace throttle body

Leaking transmission fluid after defective axle shaft wore seal down. multiple customer complaints of same issue.

The wrench light is on and i lost power and speed i was on a street.

Worn axle shaft seal at only 83,000 miles. possible poor surface finish on the axle shaft. transmission fluid leaking from the drivers front half shaft.
