We have classified the 777 complaints from 2010 Ford Fusion about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
I was traveling at highway speed when suddenly lost power and unable to accelerate. pulled over shut the engine off and in about 30 seconds restarted the engine and was able to drive off with no issues. *tr
Driving 40-60mph, car suddenly loses throttle control, wrench light comes on. after it happened i took it for service and was told there were no error codes. it has happened 6 more times, and i was almost in an accident on the highway today. car continues to idle after losing speed, but runs rough. turning the car off, and back on- and it runs normally again. after web search it seems this is a known issue with defective throttles and nhtsa is investigating. *tr
Driving at 45 mph, car loses power and/or acceleration. wrench light illuminates and pulled car to side of road and vehicle shakes terribly. shut car off and waited a couple of minutes and restarted car. wrench light was not on and car ran fine. this problem has occurred on three more occasion within a week. dealer could not find any codes but stated it would be a problem with the throttle body, even driving the car by a mechanic with a diagnostic tester, they could not duplicate the problem. this is a serious safety issue that ford evidently does not want to fix under warranty because their is no code yet. their are a lot of complaints on this issue on the internet. ford needs to recall this part. *tr
Car lost power while driving on highway, vehicle slowly coasted to a stop despite pressing the accelerator, only worked after turning vehicle off and restarting with the key. this has happened twice while traveling on the highway and once at about 45mph. throttle body needed to be replaced. *tr
We were driving along a city street heading toward a busy freeway. we stopped at a red light. when the light changed my wife accelerated (pushed the pedal) to get going the car traveled about 500 feet. it lunged and slowed to about 2 - 3 mph. when my wife tried to accelerate again the car wouldn't speed up. we pulled the car over to the curb as best we could. the car wouldn't start right away. a yellow warning wrench lit up showing this to be a powertrain problem. the car did start after about a 5 minute wait. we drove it home and parked it. i am afraid to get in it until it is checked out by the dealer. thus, i am having it towed to the dealer this morning. i have read online of a similar incident happening to other owners of the 2010 ford fusion. had we reached the freeway and had it stalled like this we could've caused a serious accident involving other vehicles. *tr
Driving on the highway going approximately 70 mph when my car acceleration seize to accelerated. the wrench light and check engine light came on. i coasted to the shoulder of the highway were i put my hazards on. i shut the car off waited 5 minutes then started back up. i turned around drove home. this happen two times before on the same day. i read a forum of other fusions owners who this happen to. they all said it was the full throttle body. i replaced the part and not had a problem since. *tr
I was driving on the highway going 70mph taking my son to hospital and was almost killed. my car did not cut off just stalled. i come to find out it's a faulty throttle body. i cut car off restart and a mile later it happens again. i was so close to being hit. this problem is very serious. *tr
It first started on the highway doing 75mph. my car jerked and wouldn't accelerate and the wrench light came on. i pulled over and shut off my car, turned it back on and it worked fine for about a month. now it happens much more frequently, it goes about 100 feet before repeating but now my check engine light is on, the wrench light comes on, and my cars shakes when i stop and pull over. i got the code checked and it says it's the throttle body plate getting stuck, i have tried cleaning it already with throttle body cleaner and it hasn't helped at all. i have seen many posts about this happening. not safe to drive when my car shuts down in the middle of a highway or road. *js
I was driving 35-40 mph when all of a sudden my vehicle slowed, started shaking, the wrench light came on and my gas pedal would not respond. i pulled over, turned my car off, waited for a moment then turned it back on. the check engine light was on but it seemed fine so i decided to continue my drive toward home. 10 minutes later, as i was getting off the highway at 55 mph in rush hour traffic, the car suddenly started shaking, slowed to limp mode and my gas pedal became unresponsive. i continued in limp mode trying to get off the highway and pulled into a business parking lot. this happened several more times as we drove in the parking lot trying to diagnose the problem - once even coming to a complete stop. we used a code scanner, but no codes were being set. we suspect the throttle body but local dealer has none and we r told it is "deep back ordered". not only do i now have no car to drive, but it is extremely dangerous! *tr
I was driving on the highway at about 70 mph. the car suddenly shut down and started coasting. pressing the gas pedal did nothing. the throttle control/transmission warning light came on. i coasted off of the highway and turned off my car. i turned the car back on, warning light was gone, car drove fine the rest of the way to my destination. next morning the exact same thing happened. stopped at an auto repair shop. they could not diagnose the problem. got back on the highway and made it to my destination without incident. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact was driving approximately 55 mph when the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated to 80 mph. the brake pedal was engaged repeatedly until the failure ceased. in addition, the vehicle would sporadically and violently jerk. the failure was recurring. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer five times where several repairs were made which consisted of a transmission flush, torque converter replacement as well as other related components however, the failure recurred. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign 10v222000 (power train) but did not confirm if the vehicle was included in the recall. the contact stated that he no longer owned the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 39,936.
I was traveling on interstate at 65-70 mph, when my fusion's rpm's all of a sudden dropped to 1 and would not react to the gas pedal, luckily i was in the slow lane and managed to coast off the interstate. fortunately for me this was during non-rush hour traffic, otherwise it could have been quite dangerous with not being able to get out of the way of continued interstate traffic. after turning the vehicle off and sitting for a few minutes, i was able to start the engine and continue to my point of destination. i googled the problem and found that the cause is a faulty throttle body. i called the local ford dealership, where i was advised the part was on a lengthy back order and due to me being just outside my warranty, the hefty repair cost of between $500 and $600 would be my responsibility. this is a known party failure on many fords and it appears they've even redesigned the part due to the issues. there is currently an open investigation with nhtsa on this issue. hopefully it will not take something as serious as a fatality for ford to see they need to have an immediate recall. i have had the incident occur two more times since the original incident date. once again on interstate at interstate speed and once in city driving, it occurred as i was pulling out from a parking lot, against traffic onto a major city thoroughfare. again, fortunate for the lighter traffic time and the ability to coast to the center turn lane to turn the vehicle off and wait to restart. the dealer has scheduled to diagnose the vehicle and charge me $95 for what they have already advised me over the phone. as for resolution, i am among the many who are at the mercy of shipping schedules of this necessary, apparently, illusive part. *tr
I was driving down the interstate at approx 60 when all of a sudden the car was running but when i pushed on the gas nothing happened... and the wrench on the dashboard came on.... the car coasted to a stop finally... i then shut off the car and restarted it.. and no prob then on.. so far... *tr
2010 ford fusion / 2.5l se. one the freeway at a speed of 70mph and engine rpm at 2100 and transmission in d the throttle stopped responding and the vehicle speed began to rapidly decrease. the engine rpm dropped to 900. very dangerous situation because of freeway traffic and no shoulder. after vehicle throttle stopped responding put the vehicle in neutral (now gliding down the freeway) and turned the engine off and restarted. this did not fix the problem, engine rpm returned to 900 and no throttle control. was nearly hit while trying to glide to the right lane by traffic. once the vehicle was glided to a stop shut the car off and removed key and waited a few minutes as semi's came within inches of my vehicle at 70mph. restarted the vehicle and throttle responded. after two minutes of driving the issue repeated again. *tr
I was driving car three different time when the transmission shifts strangely and loses power then idles erratically and cannot accelerate, car displays error code on dash. i turn off car and restart and code goes away and runs good. *tr
Car idling rough, engine stalls multiple times when at idle or slow (parking lot) speeds. multiple occurrences over several days. read that it was a very common problem with these ford fusion cars, being the throttle body. verified with mechanics. no trouble codes given by on board computer. several days later, engine stalled while driving on the interstate at speeds of 65-70mph. this has continued happening from time to time, even after cleaning of the throttle body that is on national backorder. idle issues also continue. still no trouble codes given by the on board computer. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated while driving 55 mph while the accelerator pedal was depressed the vehicle failed to increase speed. the contact pulled over and the vehicle was restarted numerous times before it would accelerate. the vehicle was not repaired nor was the failure diagnosed. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 63,000.
Driving to work on 8/5/13 at around 40mph when my vehicle starts to automatically slow down and shake. i looked down at the dashboard and noticed a "wrench" was lit up for a warning, but it was not there when i started the car before going to work. i was able to pull over and stop for a few minutes. i started the car again without any problems, and the "wrench" sign was not lit. i was able to make it to work, which was another 5-10 miles away, but i drove around 25mph in case i needed to pull over again. later that same day, the same exact thing happened while driving on the highway on an incline at a speed of 50mph. i was almost hit from behind because the car stalled immediately without warning and the driver behind me could not tell that my car was slowing down immediately. luckily i was not hit and i was able to pull over and stopped the car for a few minutes. again, i re-started the car without the "wrench" sign lighting up. i drove straight to the dealership. they were not able to look at it that day, so i had to leave the car overnight and get a rental. i received a call the next day from the dealership and was told that it was a failure of the electronic throttle body. total out of pocket cost of almost $690. my vehicle is only a little over 3 years old and only has 52,000 miles on it. *tr
As i accelerated the car would not increase in speed. i continued to coast until the car came to a stop on the expressway! this happened a second time 5 days later while driving 55 on a two lane road. *tr
Car jerking and depressed pedal car not going. found that it is a throttle body issue. lucky i wasn't on the freeway when this happened. *tr
I was driving home at a speed of 70 from work on the freeway when the car powered down all of a sudden. a wrench light turned on and the accelerator pedal did not work i had to pull to the side of the freeway when i stopped my car the car felt as if it was trembling so i turned it off for a few seconds then turned it back on surprisingly the wrench light turned off and the car worked fine again. i kept driving carefully at a speed of 60 now and 20 miles later it stalled again. my car at the moment is at 43,000 miles i bought it new in june 2010. i took it to o'reillys so they can troubleshoot and find out what was wrong with my car and they said it was the throttle body. i continued to call a ford dealership since i still have powertrain warranty which covers the engine and transmission but unfortunately the sales rep. said it did not cover the throttle body. at the dealership to fix this problem will cost me $93.00 to find the problem, $150.00 for the service and $400.00 for the part. i am a nmsu student living in texas and drive 30 miles everyday to school and sadly cannot afford this kind of expense. i'm afraid to keep driving it causing to get rear ended while the car stalls or even worst causing a car incident leaving injuries. *tr
When leaving home to go to the store, accelerator peddle stopped responding shortly after shifting into drive after leaving the driveway. the engine idled very roughly, so i shifted into neutral and pulled over. i put the transmission into park, turned off the ignition and then restarted the engine. it idled fine, so i continued on my trip. shortly after, stopping at a stop sign, the same thing happened when pulling away from the stop. i was turning left, so i had to immediately turn right and pull over to avoid an accident. restarted engine and continued to my destination. the same behavior occurred again on y way back home when starting another left turn. *tr
Engine lost power without warning. we were at low speed and could get off the road. dealer has cleaned the electronic throttle body and reinstalled it. concern is what happens in the future if failure is in a very dangerous location. there should be a recall for this condition. *tr
At 65 mph the car all of the sudden shuttered and went into limp mode. pulled over to the side, wrench light was on and the car sat an idled/shuttered. turned it off. waited about 30 seconds and turned it back on, everything appeared fine, and no lights on the dashboard. did an internet search and discovered many 2010 fusion owners having same issue...throttle body. took the car to dealer and confirmed faulty throttle body. wanted $596 to replace throttle body and reprogram pcm. way too much for a part that is about $150 and 10 minutes work. dangerous situation, as highway speed and sudden loss of power do not mix. *tr
I drive approximately 80 miles per day, 5 days a week. while driving on the highway at normal speeds of 45-60 mph, my fusion lost all acceleration power. this has happened 3 times in the last week alone. each time, the wrench warning light appeared on the dashboard so i had to coast to the side of the highway and restart my vehicle before i could return safely to the road. during each incident, i was in several lanes of traffic, and losing all power certainly creates a dangerous environment for me and other drivers around. *tr
In the past week, my vehicle has "stalled," for lack of a better word, at moderate to high speeds on three separate occasions. the third time this occurred, i was driving uphill during rush hour on "the cut in the hill," a stretch of highway in northern kentucky near cincinnati known for its disproportionately high number of auto accidents. it's a very dangerous place for a vehicle to simply stop at the busiest time of day. because it was going uphill, the vehicle did not coast to a safer location (or even coast at all) as it had done during previous episodes and i was unable to pull over to the shoulder. i was stuck, broken down, in the middle left lane. i have brought my car into the dealership for this exact issue twice in the past while it was covered under the bumper-to-bumper warranty. they claimed they could not replicate the problem or find a code so it was probably just a fluke and not to worry about it. this time, when i brought my car in last friday 8/30/13, they knew exactly what was wrong with it and had the part to replace it (which was amazing since it's on a national back order because this problem is apparently happening to everyone). my 12 month/12,000 mile certified bumper-to-bumper warranty expired 1,200 miles ago, shortly after the last time i brought it in for service. it took less than an hour for them to call me with a diagnosis. it was a faulty throttle body, just like i had told them, and it cost me almost $600 out-of-pocket to replace it. none of it was covered. unbelievable. ford needs to stand behind their product and reimburse me and everyone else with this issue. unsafe and unfair! *jb
i have spoken to a representative in response to an email sent to your tier1 email crcfmc and am not satisfied with the results.. if this is the wrong department would you please forward this on. while driving, my car lost power. i shut off the engine. after 5 min or so the ignition started so i drove it home. i took it in for service the following a.m. and was told there was a problem with the throttle which had been seen many times before.my warranty had run out a short time before this incident so i was required to pay out-of-pocket. i explained in the tier 1 email crdfmc mentioned above that this seems like a design problem and i feel i shouldn't be responsible for payment. a representative contacted me explaining my part had been replaced with one of a new design. i was offered a 50"% refund and advised that in the event of a recall i would get reimbursed the other 50%. i do not find this acceptable. obviously fmc has a problem with the original throttle hence the necessity for a new design. i should not be responsible for payment and expect to be reimbursed 100%. *js
The first time i noticed something wrong i was trying to pass a slower moving car. i turned the signal on, moved over to the passing lane, went to accl. and the car basically red lined and went no where. so i don't pass and god for bid pull out in front of faster moving cars. now, after driving across town, and it gets up to normal running temps the car has trouble shifting around 3rd through 5th gears. it lurches like it would if a new driver in a manual transmission might do, until you let off the gas and i guess let the motor catch up. *tr
The car was being driven on the interstate when the engine went into idle and would not maintain speed. *tr
Fuel inlet error on dash..transmission shifts hard when pulling out. *jb
While driving on the freeway my car was running but when i pushed on the gas nothing was happening and the yellow wrench light was on in the car. i had to coast out of the way of all the traffic with being ran into and thank goodness it wasn't during rush hour. this has happened five times since i bought the car used and it doesn't even have 65,000 miles on it yet. i have already taken it to the shop and they determined it was a clogged fuel injector. that was cleaned it the car ran fine for half a day and then it did the same thing twice in one day within fifteen minutes of each event. i put the car in park and turn it off and turn it back on and its fine. this seems to be a problem with the throttle body which seems to be the issue that is all over the internet. this needs to be recalled because its a matter of time before someone dies or gets hurt when this happens to their car. *tr
Traveling down the highway at 70mph using cruise control, when the wrench symbol appeared on the dial and the car slowed way down and would not accelerate. we were able to pull to the side of the road, turned off the engine, waited a few minutes to restart and were able to drive away at normal speeds. this happened two more times within the 2 hour trip. we scheduled an appointment with the dealership and were told the problem was the throttle body and that it had to be replaced, but there were no parts available in the entire country and the part was on back order until perhaps 2 months. we were told this is a fairly common problem, but there was no recall forthcoming. i believe this is potentially a life-threatening problem that should be addressed by the company. i'm getting my car back from the dealership because i need transportation and have not been offered a loaner for the duration of the time it will take to get the new part. i will be living in constant fear that the problem will recur and i could be left stranded on the side of the road at some point when the car will not reset. *tr
While driving on the interstate, approx. 65-70 mph, the vehicle shudders, loses all throttle response, and the wrench light and check engine light illuminate on the dash display. the vehicle does not shut off or stall, but it does enter limp mode. once the vehicle is shut off and restarted the wrench light is no longer illuminated and the vehicle will operate normally. this situation repeated 4 different times on the incident date. after speaking with the service manager at the local ford dealership the problem was acknowledged as a defective throttle body. *tr
I was traveling at approximately 65mph down a two lane highway when i lost all throttle response through my accelerator pedal. engine went to a very "rough" idle around 600 - 800 rpm and the maintenance wrench indicator light illuminated. luckily i was traveling down grade and was able to safely coast the vehicle to the shoulder of the highway. after safely parking the vehicle i depressed the accelerator pedal with absolutely no response. after having the vehicle towed to a dealership the service technician smiled and told me it was the throttle body that was malfunctioning. quoted me on a price for a new part and labor without even inspecting the vehicle ($352)! if this problem was obvious to the technician without the vehicle even being checked, why hasn't ford recalled this part? *tr
While driving on i-85 south approximately 50-60 mph in moderately heavy traffic, between exits 27 and 26, the car sounded like it dropped out of gear while accelerating. i was able to merge to the shoulder of the highway. the car continued decelerating and the "wrench light" appeared. the car would not accelerate at all. when stopped (at the ramp for exit 26), the car rattled and idled very hard and was shaking. the battery light appeared, then the oil lamp appeared and the car shut off completely. i was towed an hour later to keith hawthorne ford in belmont. on monday, july 29, 2013, the service manager, stated that the throttle body had failed; when they hooked-up the car to the testing machine, it did not show any codes. they replaced the failed throttle body, i paid for repairs and have the failed throttle body in my possession. *tr
While driving on the highway the vehicle suddenly lost power, the wrench light turned on and it began to shake as if driving on a rumble strip. i had to pull through three lanes of traffic during rush hour without power just to reach the shoulder. i turned the vehicle off and had to gather myself, really happy not to have been hit by other vehicles. i attempted to turn the vehicle back on after a few minutes and the light had turned off and everything worked fine. the same thing happened the next morning on a residential street. taking the car into a ford dealer as soon as i can. *tr
I was traveling on interstate at approx. 65mph downhill when i lost throttle power. wrench light came on and i could not accelerate. i was able to coast to bottom of hill. turned off car and restarted and drove a few miles when it happened again. appears to be throttle body issue that many others are having. contacted ford dealership and obtained new throttle body. will be putting in new throttle body tomorrow. ford dealership parts employee stated that i should save my receipts as a recall in the future could result in reimbursement for my new part. this really needs to be looked at by ford before serious injuries are incurred. *tr
I was driving on the highway when my car starting losing power. the little wrench light and check engine light came on. i was able to pull over to the side of the road and shut off the car. i restarted the car, but turned off the air conditioning. after driving another 7-8 miles, i turned on the air conditioning and the same thing happened. when i restarted the car, i turned off the air and it drove fine. i took it to a mechanic because the book that came with my vehicle said to have the diagnostics checked, but the mechanic said no code is showing up. *tr
I was driving home from the store today on a 4 lane road and was making a left turn when the car powered down to 1 mph and stayed there. thankfully the car i turned in front of had plenty of time to slow down to avoid me. i traveled two blocks home as the car only allowed me to go 1 mph with the wrench light on and with a slightly jerky ride. i called my local repair shop and they got me in to take a look at it. i assumed bad gas or a fuel line needed to be cleaned, but also thought it was odd that a three year old car needed any work. they troubleshooter and cleaned the fuel lines and took out the moisture they thought was causing this. the mechanic then took it for a test run in the local parking lot where the car shut down on him and once he restarted the car ran fine. he said no codes came up but with investigating online he found it to be the fuel throttle needed to be replaced and he would call me for an estimate and that i might want to join the complaint issue online. i will receive my estimate on monday. ford really needs to take care of their customers. i have no problem paying for a wear and tear issue. i do have a problem with companies ignoring customer complaints and not tackling the issue before a death ensues. is it really worth someone being severely injured or killed over saving your name? funny part is that i choose to go back to an american made car after wanting to support the recovery and fellow family members that work for ford. i will never forgive ford if they do not take care of this and if my car is $400.00 or more in repair. this has happened 4 times now and i am afraid to drive the car. please help. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled with the illumination of the check engine light. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated that the throttle body needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure, and they claimed there was no defect. the approximate failure mileage was 53,000. updated 10/22/13*lj
I have a 2010 ford fusion that has been stalling the last month or 2.. it has done this 12 to 15 times now.. at one time it almost caused an accident.. code shows it to be the throttle body... ford wants me to pay out of pocket to fix the safety issue!!..i guess people need to get killed before anything is done!.. and latest problem the trans has been acting funny?.. i feel like my money on this car as been stolen .. sorry ford this is my last car from you.. *js
Just adding to the list. twice in the past two weeks my husband has experienced the same issue as everyone else posting a safety complaint about their 2010 ford fusion. he found himself not able to accelerate while driving on the highway. the first time he brought the car into a ford dealership. they found no issue, and apparently are not aware of the overall issue. this morning (after the second occurrence) he brought the car into a non-dealership auto mechanic - no word from them yet. i am worried about his safety, and frustrated that ford has not issued a recall given how wide-spread and long-known this problem is. *tr
While accelerating up a hill or incline, the motor powered down to the point of stalling, whereby i was almost involved in an accident. this has happened twice today, and on one occasion in december 2012, but the specifics i cannot recall. *tr
I was going down the interstate felt my car jerk like it slipped out of gear and then i was unable to accelerate, i managed to pull over turn the car off. after restarting it, it was fine. i took it to the dealership i purchased it at turns out it was the throttle body, which seems to be a common problem with the 2010 fusions. since it was no longer under warranty i did some research on line and found a ton of complaints just like mine. i called ford and asked about the recall however my car was not under recall for this problem. and there was nothing they would do to make it good. so i'm stuck paying the repair bill for something evidentially is a common problem. it is a safety concern and dangerous. *tr
Car was idling in park. put car in drive, started moving forward slowly and the engine started to shake, lost throttle control, check engine and wrench lights illuminated. engine died within about 10 seconds. turned the ignition off and restarted the car. it ran normally for about 25 feet and exhibited the same symptoms as before. restarted the car again and was able to limp the car to a suitable parking space about 250 feet away. after sitting for a minute with the car off, i started it again and it ran normal for the rest of the day. i drove to the nearest autozone and had them scan the computer codes. found p2111 - throttle actuator control. *tr
Today i was driving through a residential neighborhood at about 20 mph. my car slowly started to lose power. i was able to pull off to the side of a road in a parking lot where the vehicle began to shake violently. i put the car in park and turned the car off immediately. upon restarting, i was able to begin to drive and the car drove for several miles as normal. then, the car seemed to lose power again, quicker this time, and shake violently. i was on a busy road with one lane of traffic and could very nearly have been rear ended. it appears to be the throttle body, as so many other reviewers have claimed. what is not understandable is that the part is back ordered. even though my husband can repair it himself, we'll have to wait for the part and wait to have a car back. as a full time teacher, i am not sure how ford has not recalled such a consistent issue that takes away from the reliability of their automobiles. i hope someone can address this issue immediately and place a recall on this part. i am so disappointed in ford products. *tr
Three incidences since onset. when accelerating car at approx 20-30 mph car appears to stall. "wrench" light comes on. unable to press gas, appears as if car does not receive fuel. if able to pull to side, turn car off then back on able to proceed. diagnosed as a throttle body issue. however will take ford 2 months to receive this part, and its not under warranty. under further investigation, appears this is a common flaw with the car. the fact that it is going to take 2 months to get repaired suggests that it is happening too often. article published 2/25/13 suggests there have been 725k ford vehicles with similar issue. there needs to be a recall. *tr
Ford should recall the 2010 ford fusion. many incidents have been reported of it, the fusion, not being able to accelerate while driving. does someone need to be hurt or, worst before ford addresses this with something other than a bulletin to repair shops. i loaned my fusion to my daughter and this happened to her at very busy intersections in chicago twice in one day. it happened one other time for a total of three times within a one month period. i looked it up on line and found out, i'm not the only one but one of many. with that said ford should take action on this matter. *tr
The wrench light comes on and the car loses its acceleration completely. as i pull over the side of the road and brake, the car will start shaking. the only way to fix it is to turn the car off and back on again. the wrench light will disappear after that and it'll start driving normally again. first time this happened i was on the interstate with my three year old in the car with me. one unhappy momma!!!! the code it read p2111 which i have been told it is a defect in the throttle body. hope they are right. *tr
I was at a stop at a railroad crossing. upon applying the gas to go, i started to loose all power with the engine starting to shake, and the car seeming to stall, but limping along. nothing happened as i pressed the gas pedal. i was able to pull the car over to the side of the road in a parking lot. the dashboard had a wrench light on. the car in the engine area was still vibrating and shaking, with no power but to limp along. i turned the car off. waiting a few minutes and the car started up, but shaking an sputtering. i was able to drive the car to my job without any further problem. i called the ford dealer and make an appointment for the following monday. when going home, i drove at 30 miles per hour. the car lost all power two more times, stalling and limping along with the wrench lite on. i was able to get the car to the side of the road and it limped to my home. at this point, car was not safe to drive and the next day, aaa towed car from my driveway to ford dealer. i mentioned the throttle body problem and dealer told me it would have to happen when they test drive in order to have part changed. they did give me a loaner and reported to me that car stalled out and lost power on their test drive. throttle body part was changed and car has performed well since that time. $550 bill at ford. this car was a death trap to drive with the throttle body defect. *tr
