While i was driving in the fast lane on the highway my 2010 ford fusion sport overheated and cut off due to a faulty heat pump which resulted in coolant leaking into it and warping my engine. there was no check engine light or any other indicator that there was an issue with my vehicle. i had even just gotten my car "winter ready" with my mechanic and in november.
Vehicle has 1 to 2 second delay after depressing throttle before acceleration occurs. very similar to nhtsa id number: 11219222 and nhtsa id number: 10167224. suspect it's related to nhtsa id number: 11233861 this has resulted in numerous close calls and near t-bone accidents in this car.
I purchased a new 2010 ford fusion hybrid se from a ford dealership in fairfax, va. after owning the vehicle for approximately 9 years, the vehicle no longer operates in electric mode (it only operates in gas mode). my average mpg has dropped from 37-40 mpg to 25-27 mpg. i took it to a ford dealership service center manassas, va in nov 2019 who indicated they are aware of the problem but they have no solution to fix it (they initially were going to charge me $150 diagnostic fee but waived the fee and sent me home). there are numerous reports in ford vehicle forums with the same complaint. consensus is that ford programmed the electronic mode to stop working after 9 years. when i purchased the vehicle, there was no disclosure that i would no longer have a properly working hybrid after 9 years. this end-of-life decision would have to be programmed into the vehicle's ecu at the time of manufacturing and should have been disclosed by ford at the time of purchase. had ford disclosed this, it would have directly impacted my decision to purchase the vehicle. the fix appears to be reprogramming the vehicle to make it think it is less than 9 years old which returns the hybrid functions to normal. according to several forums, some ford service centers have conduct this fix, but the majority of ford service centers are not willing/able to resolve this issue. this issue has been identified in ford's oasis database with no solution. tsb #ssm 48238 nhtsa id #10167224 was announced in oct 2019. refer to forums with identical issues and solutions: (https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-c28475_ds1000144), (https://www.carcomplaints.com/ford/fusion_hybrid/2010/tsbs/), (https://www.fordfusionforum.com/topic/19361-my-instructions-on-restoring-the-hybrid-ev-function-on-the-ford-fusion-hybrid-approaching-the-89-years-mark/).
Bought used ford fusion on 9/16/19 from fred bean cadillac- buick in doyalstown pa. after about driving it for 950 miles on 10/04/19 an yellow wrench icon appeared on the dash board and the car seemed to lose power. the car was parked and the car was turned off, once the car was restarted the wrench icon disappeared. made appointment with dealer where the car was purchased from at 7:30am on 10/05/19 to have the car looked at. was told no error code was found, but later that same day while driving home around 2:00pm the wrench icon reappeared and the loss of power happened turning off from rt 332 (yardley-newton rd speed 55mph) on to stony hill rd speed 40mph. once i go to a red light at stony hill and yardley langhorne rd intersection i turned car off, then restarted car and wrench icon disappeared.
We had driven to a football game, when we returned to the car it would not start. all the lights worked, it turned over perfectly every time, but it would not start. had it towed to the mechanic in the morning and it started for them. however, after multiple test they were able to get it to stop starting. checked the codes and it said o2 sensor. replaced o2 sensor. car died on my way home from the mechanic while pulling out onto the highway from a stop sign where vehicles are traveling 60mph with my two small children in the car. terrifying! i barely chugged across the lanes and got the nose of my car on the shoulder. i turned the car off and after a few tries it restarted. when i got home, i took the battery cables off the battery for the weekend as i read that could help the faulty computer issue. so far, i have not experienced this issue again. a couple of weeks before this, i noticed that at speeds of 50 mph the car felt like it was speeding up and slowing down really fast like pulsing.
The car stalls and shifts gears after stopping at a red light or stop sign then after moments of pressing the gas pedal it spins off and jerks really hard on a freeway it rides very well it only stalls after waiting at a light or stop sign or tapping onto the break also the car has new break pads but it sounds like something is scrubbing and while i was backing out of a parking lot the car made a huge popping and threw me back while my foot was on the break it scared me so i got out to see what happened and i didn't hit anything nor did anything hit me so i tried to drive home and the car jerked the entire way home almost
Dashboard warning lights suddenly came on, temperature gage went to hot and car suddenly shut off while moving
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving 25 mph, the vehicle stalled and turned off. the contact was able to turn on the ignition and park on the side of the road, but the vehicle stalled again. in addition, the check engine and battery/charging alert warning indicators illuminated. the contact also noticed fuel leaking from both exhaust pipes and noticed a fuel stain underneath the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to the contact's home and then taken to north county ford (located at 5829, 450 w vista way, vista, ca 92083, (888) 833-0634). the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 117,000.
I was driving 70 mph down the highway and my car just quit running. a few warning lights came on and i pulled over to the shoulder of the road. i was able to restart the car and merged onto the highway; the car quickly died again. i had the car towed home and was unable to start the car again since the anti-theft lock light was on. i had the car towed to a dealership and i am waiting to hear back from them.
Rapid deceleration: while driving on the freeway rapid deceleration occurred. car slowed to about 25mph and would not accelerate when gas pedal was pushed. exited freeway.. turned engine off and restarted. car operated normal. no error icons showed. about a half mile from home problem reoccurred crawled home at 10mph. next several days problem did not reoccur. about a week later same problem reoccurred while driving home ..10mph. spoke to ford service to see if they would cover repairs and they declined. took it to my repair shop and they replaced the throttle body. $600. very scary dangerous situation when this occurs on the freeway.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while reversing into a parking space, the engine suddenly revved very high before the vehicle suddenly accelerated. after turning the vehicle off and restarting the engine, the vehicle operated normally; however, the failure recurred approximately four hours later. while at a stop light, the engine suddenly began to rev very high and the engine suddenly accelerated. while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle suddenly accelerated forward and caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. the driver shifted into park to stop the vehicle. there was a car in front of me and a car in back of me. car violently shook and sped forward at a fast speed. car veered into oncoming traffic and went up over the curb. consumer's foot was on the brake the whole time. consumer put the car in park and the vehicle stopped. engine was racing. the vehicle was taken to jd byrider (1561 west liberty ave, pittsburgh, pa) where it was diagnosed that the motor mount was faulty and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 90,000. *bf*jb
2010 fusion hybrid lost power then shut down. a warning on the instrument panel said to pull over safely and stop. i have done research and found other drivers of the same make and model are having the same problem. if this were to happen in heavy traffic it could cause an accident. apparently ford motor is aware of the problem but has done nothing to remedy the situation. my understanding is the problem may be with the throttle body according to some of the complaints i have read. my vehicle is out of warranty but others have had the problem with vehicles under warranty. this problem occurred at 45 mph, thankfully just before turning onto i95 interstate entrance.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving various speeds, the check engine indicator illuminated continuously. the vehicle was taken to cavalier ford greenbrier (1515 s military hwy, chesapeake, va 23320) where it was diagnosed that the evaporator purge valve needed to be repaired. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel vapor vent valve failed and the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v79300 (fuel systm, gasoline). the vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 135,676.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v384000 (air bags). the manufacturer advised the contact not to drive the vehicle due to the recall. the contact stated that the part was available, but the vehicle failed to start. the vehicle was not driven for six months and became totally inoperable. the contact stated that the brakes have rusted out, the accelerator and brake pedals go down to the floorboard when depressed, and there was an abnormal oil odor coming from inside and outside the vehicle. the contact called elder ford (9560 n florida ave, tampa, fl 33612, (813) 498-0779), but no assistance was provided. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. the failure mileage was 98,196.
Throttle body recall i have a 2010 ford fusion that i just purchased less then a year ago. one day my check engine light came on and i returned the car they told me it was the throttle body. they replaced it and 3 months later it went again. i looked up the recalls and they said that the throttle body was one of them. it has already been fixed 4 times in the last couple of years. now my car is stalling and shutting off in traffic. how do i go about getting this fixed or something new. i looked up the recalls and it saids im suppose to have a 10 year extended warranty or 150,000 mile warranty. but no one is giving me any answers. this car is very dangerous for me and my family to be driving in. where do i go from here..
Takata recall i was driving and the car began to slow down rapidly. i was unable to control where i was going and unable to accelerate or decelerate. i have no control over the vehicle when this happens. it is not an all the time problem, but does happen very often. the check engine light comes on when it happens and the car accelerates briefly before instantly shutting off. the wrench symbol also comes on before this all takes place. i could be using cruise control or just normal driving and it happens in both situations. the vehicle tends to do it no matter where you are such as a high way or on a regular city street. i have had the vehicle checked out numerous (six) times to see why it does this. the mechanic hooks it up to the computer every time and states there is nothing wrong but then resets the symbol lights so they go out. the car will be fine for a week or so and then do it again! it is scary when it happens and i try not to drive the car due to this issue. how can you fix something the mechanics state is not broken? something isnt right with the vehicle and something needs to be investigated to see why it does this! it can not only be my car!
I noticed today there is a ford recall for 2012 through 2018 ford focus for a faulty part that could lead to engine stalls. the recall states a malfunctioning valve that could result in inaccurate fuel level readings and potentially engine stalls or an inability to restart the vehicle. this is exactly what i have been experiencing in my 2010 ford fusion. while i am driving and start to slow down at a stop sign or to turn the corner the engine stalls and jerks and then it goes away until the next time i slow down or turn. i believe this to be the same situation as the current recall for the ford focus. driver side door can't lock.
I took my 2010 ford fusion to one of my local ford dealerships for electronic throttle body issue. i was charged for $450 for the manufactured recall/investigation, when it is supposed to be free. please find my bill attached in documentation. thanks
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that the brakes failed to function properly when applied. the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard several times, which caused the contact to have to apply force and pump the brake pedal each time the failure occurred. in addition, the electric power steering failed and caused the steering wheel to become extremely tight when attempting to turn in either direction. the vehicle was also serviced for a manufacturer extended warranty campaign regarding the throttle body; however, the contact noticed that the vehicle was slow to accelerate while the other two failures progressed. the dealer (worthington ford, 2950 n bellflower blvd, long beach, ca 90815, (562) 420-3333) was unable to provide a permanent remedy yet for the three failures that were experienced. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa action numbers: ea17004 (steering) and pe13003 (engine). the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the contact was waiting for a response from the manufacturer to determine if they could provide a permanent repair. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin and failure mileage were not available.
Error code p2112 - stuck throttle body. acceleration disappears at high rate of speed, resulting in limp along, no propulsion to zero. car stalls in high speed traffic, requiring immediate pullover. very unsafe. other fusions of same exact year, production location, and model are covered under a customer service bulletin 13n03, but not the hybrids, even though experiencing the same exact issue. just want this potentially fatal bug to be removed from my vehicle. ford indicates no coverage or fix, due to it being a hybrid... although same issue as non-hybrid fusions from same year, production facility, build date.
Electronic throttle body fialure. my car has same issue as campaign 13n03 but since mine is hybrid ford will mot honor it. my car shut off three times on a drive from california back to az with error please pull over and lost all engine power. highway speeds and hot outside
Loss power steering in my 2010 ford fusion on my way to work. assit fault came on. this is freaking ridiculous that ford is not stepping up and taking care this. how can they be so careless. other issues include front seat recliner driver side. electrical issues. engine issues. disappointed my first car i played off. nothing to show for it.
There has been an investigation on this complaint but it not under my vin number. my car is shaking causing vibration when i'm driving. the tire seems if it's going to fall off the car as i'm driving. there is no light indicating there is something wrong. it does not pick up speed i would have to put my foot all the way to the floor for it to really go anywhere. i'm on the highway everyday going to work. i hope one of these days nothing happens to me or my family because ford won't just take a look at the car when i'm calling them telling them that it's the same problem the recall explains what the problems are. recall #11v57400
Driving down a exit, ramp, lost all ability to accelerate. i idled to the parts store, had the check engine code read, it indicated a throttle body malfunction. i ordered and then replaced the throttle body and it fixed the problem
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle stalled and the check engine indicator illuminated. the contact stated that the moon roof failed to open or close and the doors failed to open. the contact had to use the window to exit the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (long-lewis ford lincoln, 2551 john hawkins pkwy, hoover, al 35244, (205) 718-7027) where it was diagnosed that the moon roof was off track and the throttle body needed to be replaced. the throttle body was repaired. the other failures were not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failures and did not assist. the failure mileage was 82,000. the vin was not available.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. when the vehicle was turned off and restarted, it operated normally. the vehicle was taken to the dealer cloninger ford (1241 us hwy 70 se, hickory, nc 28602), but the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 56,000.
I inherited this vehicle a little over a year ago. the vehicle shuts off for no reason and the battery and wrench light come on. after much research i have found that this could be the etb assembly and that several people have complained about this. this is dangerous and i do not know why ford has not recalled it yet rather than offering the customer satisfaction program. i have an appt to take it to a dealership on saturday. this is a known issue and we shouldnt have to pay for any diagnostics. if something happens to me while driving i will sue.
Variable valve timing needs replaced vehicle shakes. should not be a problem with a vehicle 7 years old
Takata recall when i bought the car from a car lot it was said that it was inspected and ready. ended up having to replace (2) motor mounts and (1) transmission mount. was having a vibration from car, running, in gear, at stops, holding brake.
While driving on the highway my 2010 ford fusion hybrid suddenly lost power and quickly decelerated from 65 mph to less than 20mph. i took it to the dealer who said that the throttle body needed to be replaced. this is the same issue on the non-hybrid ford fusion for which ford has issued an extended warranty under customer satisfaction program 13n03 however ford has excluded hybrids and manual transmissions that have the same throttle body part.
Engine went to limp mode.
In lower gears / below 3500 rpm, i will occasionally experience a sudden deceleration, and then an abrupt acceleration as the vehicle attempts to make it to the commanded speed. this only occurs when the vehicle is already in motion, most often city streets, occasionally while accelerating onto a highway. i believe this creates a potentially dangerous situation, as a driver may not have the full, consistent acceleration that he expects to have. this issue began shortly after receiving "check fuel filter" codes, due to a poorly designed inner gas cap gasket, which allows for contamination to obstruct the easy fill system's inner seal. i believe this may also be related to an issue with a throttle body controller, similar to the many ford products and customers whom have submitted prior complaints. not sure why those throttle body controllers didn't get a recall, the problem is common enough and the potential damage substantial.
Takata recall whenever i come to a complete stop, my car seems to stop accelerating or stall. the rpm goes up, put it does not accelerate. i have to pull over, and cut my car off for it to start driving again and repeat that process when it happens again and its been happening for a while. when i got my transmission fluid flushed and topped of it stopped happening for a few months, but then it started messing up again.
Driving locally, wrench and engine lights came on suddenly. when i got short ways to store, turned engine off and restarted, lights gone - thought it was a fluke. proceed to drive home to contact ford, both lights come on again, car begins declerating with no warning, no action on accelerator, car slows (i didn't know this was called limping) and i pulled of highway and get to parking lot. car towed to ford dealer. i had no clue what problem was replaced electronic throttle body car is 7 years old, only 43,700 miles. afraid to drive car as this can happen again - what if i'm in heavy traffic at high speeds. can't believe ford was able to avoid a recall --- this is a very dangerous problem!!!!
While driving at highway speed with cruise control engaged, the cruise control de-activates, the check engine light comes on, and the wrench icon comes on at the instrument panel. the engine begins to run very rough, surging, then slowing down, and the cruise control cannot be re-engaged. the throttle body was replaced by the ford dealer 18 months ago, and the condition that exists now was the same that existed prior to the throttle body being replaced 18 months ago. vehicle currently has less than 68,000 miles. fuel economy is 20% lower than normal. it is frightening to attempt to pass on 2-lane roads, because you never know when the engine will sputter. this started occurring occasionally in mid-june, 2017, and now occurs every time you drive the car. code that was stored was p2119, "throttle body range."
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle hesitated before accelerating. the transmission and check engine warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 50,820.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 15v793000 (fuel system), but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. the contact mentioned that the check engine indicator illuminated 90 days after the recall repair. the vehicle error code was in reference to the canister purge valve. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 98,000.
2010 ford fusion idler pulley bolt sheered off along with piece of engine block and pulley resulting in a near accident as drive belt, and power steering failed and vehicle would not go past 20 miles per hour (on highway). my wife (5 months pregnant) was driving at the posted speed of 70 mph when the pulley and bolt sheered off. her car was nearly struck from behind by several vehicles as well as not being able to steer the car herself. looking at ford fusion blogs, this appears to be a common problem that ford has not fixed in their earlier models. this design and/or stress fault causes safety concerns as well as costly repairs since piece of the engine block can sheer off with the idler pulley bolt.
The issue i have been having with this vehicle involves the throttle body which has been replaced twice now since i have owned this car. while driving this vehicle, myself and my daughter, at separate times, lost acceleration while on the highway. this could have been a very dangerous situation if the timing of being on the road was different as well as the amount of vehicles on the road. we both were able to pull over to the side of the road. thank goodness we were both in the far right lane when the acceleration failed. ford did recall the product at one time, however, now they are unwilling to assist with the 2nd fail. this appears to be either an engineering defect or vendor defect in the part. this is a dangerous defect as collisions could occur when unable to accelerate on high speed roads as well as dangerous for other drivers who are unable to gage the speed of the slow moving vehicle.

Without warning, driving highway speeds we lost power. got the car started again and realized there was no heat, then noticed the temperature gauge was on hot. the battery light, check engine light and wrench light turned on. we eventually had to be towed at a cost of $460. the master mechanic identified the water pump cracked, then resealed itself and coolant mixed with the oil which killed the engine. he said there would have not been any warning and this issue has been seen before and is catastrophic. we now have to replace the engine at a cost of $8000. there are forums online with other fusion owners experiencing the same issue but no recognition or recall from ford. i have had issues with this car since the day i bought it. i had to have my electronic throttle body replaced twice, also not a recall by ford but a customer satisfaction program. i guess they are ok with having cars literally turning off at highway speeds before they fix the issues. *tr
My child was driving my ford 2010 fusion and it suddenly caught fire destroying the engine and surrounding components, everything inside the car was melted. fire destroyed the front of the inside of the car . there were no check engine lights or other warning signs displayed on the car dashboard. *tr
While driving at approximately 40 mph, the car began to shake and immediately lost power. the service engine soon light illuminated and the car would not accelerate in traffic. luckily our house was within 1 mile of where the failure happened. after making it home we had the obd engine code read and it stated that it was an issue with the throttle body. we found out searching the internet this is a known issue and ford has extended the warranty for this issue to 10 years 150,000 miles. car is 6 years old with 109,000 miles. after turning the car off and back on the service engine soon light was no longer illuminated. we immediately scheduled service at a local ford dealership. dealership claimed they would not make any repairs under field service action number: 13n03 because the service engine soon light was no longer illuminated. they suggested we return when the car exhibits the issue again. in other words "come back next time your car fails while driving". this is a known issue, with dangerous consequences, and service was refused. we contacted ford customer relations and was told the car should have been fixed. they contacted the dealer and afterwards revised their statement, claiming the service engine soon must be illuminated for the repair to be covered under field service action number: 13n03. this is a known intermittent issue, and according to the servicing dealer "the code is cleared after restarting the vehicle 3 times". this was never mentioned when making the service appointment. if the burden of proof was on us, we would have taken the car immediately to the dealership. now we are simply waiting for the failure to occur again so we can have the repairs made. hopefully, the failure does not happen at highway speeds. *tr

My vehicle has the tendency of reducing acceleration, when you are driving at a speed of 35 or above the car will slow down and almost come to a complete stop. if you are in the fast lane and your car will not accelerate what can you do if there is lots of traffic behind you, this will definitely cause an accident because you have no where to go and cars are right up on you. this is an accident waiting to happen. this problem has happened to me 4 times when i was on just the streets and not the highway, i was going 45 mph and all of a sudden my car loses speed and it went all the way down and no matter how much i tried to accelerate it would not go any faster, so i coasted over to the side of the road and turned the engine off and called my son to meet me because i didn't know if it would start again. it did but the engine light stayed on. i started driving it again and it did the same thing. i got a little closer to home and pulled over to this exxon gas station; sit there until my son came and he started it again and he followed me home. a few days later it did it again; it has done this 4 times even this morning on my way to the ford dealership whom i thought was going to fix the problem but wanted me to pay them $115 out of pocket for a diagnostic that i should not be paying anything that is their mistake or mess up. i will see if i can round up enough complaints for a class action lawsuit, because why would i have to pay for something that's their fault when the car was built.
