The vehicle was coming to a stop and the engine lost power and stalled. this has occurred two time in the past 4 weeks. the vehicle had been driven at least a few miles before this occurred both times. put the vehicle in park and it started immediately and i was able to drive away. the vehicle appears to not be idling to slow. *jb
I was driving at 45 mph and the car jolted then the wrench symbol came on the dash. the car than began to slow and the rpm would not go above 1000. i pulled over and the car was idling very badly. i turned the car off waited a few minutes then turned it back on and it was fine. my husband has a code reader and when we hooked it up and there were no codes. i started looking on the internet and found a lot of complaints regarding the throttle body and that ford is under investigation for this. *tr
Car loses power and stalls at city or highway speeds (have to pull over). car shuts down when idling. ford was contacted by our service center and we're told we need a new throttle body, but they are on back-order. there are at least 5000 orders ahead of us. service person said he is not aware of a recall for this problem. car was purchased new. *tr
Was going 60 in the middle of rush hour and car just went to nothing in seconds. had my 14 month old son with me. scared me. car was puttering wouldn't go over 10 miles an hour. didn't know i could shut it off and back on. found out later by doing research it could be the throttle body. took to shop and they said that is what it is. costing me 600 dollars to fix and they consider it a hazard. noticed after doing research that this is happening on alot of 2010 - 2012 ford fusions. not sure why a recall hasn't been done. i would like my money back if there is was or gonna be one.. *tr
I was traveling on the interstate at highway speed. traffic had slowed alittle so i began to slow as well. when i pressed the accelerator nothing happened. the wrench light came on the dash. i had no control over the acceleration of the car. after almost being taken out be a semi i was able to get the car off to the side of the interstate. the car was idling very rough. i shut the car off and waited a few seconds. i restarted the car and the light was off. i was able to drive home with no more problems. seems that ford has a major issue. i thing they should be made to recall these cars before someone gets killed. *tr
I was driving 35-40 mph when all of a sudden my vehicle slowed, started shaking, the wrench light came on and my gas pedal would not respond. i pulled over, turned my car off, waited for a moment then turned it back on. the check engine light was on but it seemed fine so i decided to continue my drive toward home. 10 minutes later, as i was getting off the highway at 55 mph in rush hour traffic, the car suddenly started shaking, slowed to limp mode and my gas pedal became unresponsive. i continued in limp mode trying to get off the highway and pulled into a business parking lot. this happened several more times as we drove in the parking lot trying to diagnose the problem - once even coming to a complete stop. we used a code scanner, but no codes were being set. we suspect the throttle body but local dealer has none and we r told it is "deep back ordered". not only do i now have no car to drive, but it is extremely dangerous! *tr
Was driving on a state road going approximately 40-45 mph. began to accelerate to go up an incline and then engine sputtered and then shut off. same thing happened a week later going about 5-10 mph while accelerating from a stop sign on a residential street. took the car to the dealership and the problem was a bad throttle body which was replaced. *tr
For the last couple of weeks i have been having an issue with my 3 year old ford fusion (2010) started stalling out at random times for no apparent reason. when this happened the first time i called my local dealer and asked him what may be wrong with my vehicle and he said that there was a common issue with the throttle body, which causes the car to stall occasionally and that it would cost me around $350 for the part alone. i believe this to a major safety problem because one time this happened to me i was traveling on the highway at 60mph with a semi-truck behind me and the trucker came very close to hitting me. i also had this happen to me at an intersection while taking off from a red light, turning left. i have done some online research about this issue and it does seem to be a problem amongst many ford fusion owners in cars that are only 2 or 3 years old. if this is such a common occurrence that ford dealers know that this issue exists then i ask why hasn't this part been recalled? *tr
My 2010 ford fusion has stalled several times while driving and while attempting to accelerate from a stopped position. several times it has almost caused me to stall in the middle of a busy intersection when turning left, stop while driving on a busy freeway, and quickly accelerate when my foot has been on the brake peddle. *tr
Going on the highway at 70 mph, engine just dies on me, forcing me to pull over, it looses all power but it goes to a very low rpm's for a while, engine shakes and after a couple of minutes just turn off, i turn it back on and it runs like nothing happened. i was out of time approximately 200 miles away from home, this condition happened to me for about 15 times in a 100 miles range. some times it takes place just after leaving a parking lot, some other times at 20 mph so it is very unpredictible but at the same time pretty dangerous. every once on a while check engine light goes off, then it is not there. *tt
2010 ford fusion / 2.5l se. one the freeway at a speed of 70mph and engine rpm at 2100 and transmission in d the throttle stopped responding and the vehicle speed began to rapidly decrease. the engine rpm dropped to 900. very dangerous situation because of freeway traffic and no shoulder. after vehicle throttle stopped responding put the vehicle in neutral (now gliding down the freeway) and turned the engine off and restarted. this did not fix the problem, engine rpm returned to 900 and no throttle control. was nearly hit while trying to glide to the right lane by traffic. once the vehicle was glided to a stop shut the car off and removed key and waited a few minutes as semi's came within inches of my vehicle at 70mph. restarted the vehicle and throttle responded. after two minutes of driving the issue repeated again. *tr
I was driving car three different time when the transmission shifts strangely and loses power then idles erratically and cannot accelerate, car displays error code on dash. i turn off car and restart and code goes away and runs good. *tr
Car idling rough, engine stalls multiple times when at idle or slow (parking lot) speeds. multiple occurrences over several days. read that it was a very common problem with these ford fusion cars, being the throttle body. verified with mechanics. no trouble codes given by on board computer. several days later, engine stalled while driving on the interstate at speeds of 65-70mph. this has continued happening from time to time, even after cleaning of the throttle body that is on national backorder. idle issues also continue. still no trouble codes given by the on board computer. *tr
The car suddenly stopped accelerating and the engine would only produce about 800 rpm. i shut the car off and restarted it and the problem repeated the next day at a lower speed (30 mph). the dealer diagnosed it and said it due to a defective throttle position sensor which would cost $475 and is not covered under any warranty. *tr
Car loses power at highway speed, rpms drop to idle, engine idles rough as if it is not getting sufficient air or fuel, after turning engine off and restarting, engine operation returns to normal. incident has recurred once. *jb
Car engine shut off at 40 mph , step on gas nothing happens. car jerks and sputters. must pull to side of road and shut off engine. wait 2 minutes and try to restart. returned to dealer without success 3 times. car has shut off 6 times since at different speeds and heavy traffic. a real safety hazard! *jb
When leaving home to go to the store, accelerator peddle stopped responding shortly after shifting into drive after leaving the driveway. the engine idled very roughly, so i shifted into neutral and pulled over. i put the transmission into park, turned off the ignition and then restarted the engine. it idled fine, so i continued on my trip. shortly after, stopping at a stop sign, the same thing happened when pulling away from the stop. i was turning left, so i had to immediately turn right and pull over to avoid an accident. restarted engine and continued to my destination. the same behavior occurred again on y way back home when starting another left turn. *tr
Engine lost power without warning. we were at low speed and could get off the road. dealer has cleaned the electronic throttle body and reinstalled it. concern is what happens in the future if failure is in a very dangerous location. there should be a recall for this condition. *tr
I was traveling on the hwy going home. the little wrench light came on the dashboard without warning or any kind of notice and i could not accelerate at all. when i tried to press the gas pedal it would not do anything at all. i managed to pull over to the median. i tried shutting off the vehicle and then restarting it. this solved the problem temporarily. this happened to me three times the rest of my way home. without warning the light comes on and you have no acceleration. i'm being told it could be the throttle body. *tr
At 65 mph the car all of the sudden shuttered and went into limp mode. pulled over to the side, wrench light was on and the car sat an idled/shuttered. turned it off. waited about 30 seconds and turned it back on, everything appeared fine, and no lights on the dashboard. did an internet search and discovered many 2010 fusion owners having same issue...throttle body. took the car to dealer and confirmed faulty throttle body. wanted $596 to replace throttle body and reprogram pcm. way too much for a part that is about $150 and 10 minutes work. dangerous situation, as highway speed and sudden loss of power do not mix. *tr
In the past week, my vehicle has "stalled," for lack of a better word, at moderate to high speeds on three separate occasions. the third time this occurred, i was driving uphill during rush hour on "the cut in the hill," a stretch of highway in northern kentucky near cincinnati known for its disproportionately high number of auto accidents. it's a very dangerous place for a vehicle to simply stop at the busiest time of day. because it was going uphill, the vehicle did not coast to a safer location (or even coast at all) as it had done during previous episodes and i was unable to pull over to the shoulder. i was stuck, broken down, in the middle left lane. i have brought my car into the dealership for this exact issue twice in the past while it was covered under the bumper-to-bumper warranty. they claimed they could not replicate the problem or find a code so it was probably just a fluke and not to worry about it. this time, when i brought my car in last friday 8/30/13, they knew exactly what was wrong with it and had the part to replace it (which was amazing since it's on a national back order because this problem is apparently happening to everyone). my 12 month/12,000 mile certified bumper-to-bumper warranty expired 1,200 miles ago, shortly after the last time i brought it in for service. it took less than an hour for them to call me with a diagnosis. it was a faulty throttle body, just like i had told them, and it cost me almost $600 out-of-pocket to replace it. none of it was covered. unbelievable. ford needs to stand behind their product and reimburse me and everyone else with this issue. unsafe and unfair! *jb
The first incident i was driving down the highway doing 55 mph and my car shut off. i was able o start the car again and get out of the road. i replaced the battery since later that day my card wouldn't turn on. *tr the second incident i was headed to the airport on my morning commute; i came to a stop sign and the car accelerated and the engine began to rev very loudly then i my car stalled out. i have my car in the shop and they advised that i have a bad throttle body and it will require replacement, the cost is $345.00 for the part and $190.00 for the labor. all while i am still paying on the loan. *tr
We were driving down a busy road when we suddenly lost acceleration and could not move to safety. the wrench light came on and we had to get towed. we later found out that it was the throttle body, which was a common, known problem with this particular model. *tr
I was driving on the freeway and the car jerked i tried to give it gas and it wouldn't go anywhere had to pull over on the side of highway and turned the car off and it worked fine i hooked a code scanner and trouble code p2111 popped up throttle body stuck open.. *tr
I was traveling on roadway at approximately 35 mph when throttle suddenly stopped responding. i pressed the accelerator repeatedly but engine appeared to stay at idle and vehicle slowed to a stop. a wrench symbol lit up on dashboard. shut vehicle off and restarted and engine began running normally. fortunately there were no vehicles behind me or intersecting with me which i would have had to avoid. *tr
The first time i noticed something wrong i was trying to pass a slower moving car. i turned the signal on, moved over to the passing lane, went to accl. and the car basically red lined and went no where. so i don't pass and god for bid pull out in front of faster moving cars. now, after driving across town, and it gets up to normal running temps the car has trouble shifting around 3rd through 5th gears. it lurches like it would if a new driver in a manual transmission might do, until you let off the gas and i guess let the motor catch up. *tr
The car was being driven on the interstate when the engine went into idle and would not maintain speed. *tr
I was driving along the tollway and had to slow down due to congestion. my car made a lunge, like a hard downshift and was left with no response from the engine. the engine was running as indicated by the tachometer and power steering, however i was not able to accelerate. after pulling over to the side of the road, nearly being rear ended by oncoming traffic, i turned on the flashers and shut the engine off. i let the car set for about 30 seconds before restarting. upon restart the car ran fine as though nothing had happened. i had a second occurrence just today (8/1/2013). i now have an engine light and have read the code - p2112. the dealership/service department that i called mentioned that this is a common issue with the ford fusion. *tr
Traveling down the highway at 70mph using cruise control, when the wrench symbol appeared on the dial and the car slowed way down and would not accelerate. we were able to pull to the side of the road, turned off the engine, waited a few minutes to restart and were able to drive away at normal speeds. this happened two more times within the 2 hour trip. we scheduled an appointment with the dealership and were told the problem was the throttle body and that it had to be replaced, but there were no parts available in the entire country and the part was on back order until perhaps 2 months. we were told this is a fairly common problem, but there was no recall forthcoming. i believe this is potentially a life-threatening problem that should be addressed by the company. i'm getting my car back from the dealership because i need transportation and have not been offered a loaner for the duration of the time it will take to get the new part. i will be living in constant fear that the problem will recur and i could be left stranded on the side of the road at some point when the car will not reset. *tr
While driving on the interstate, approx. 65-70 mph, the vehicle shudders, loses all throttle response, and the wrench light and check engine light illuminate on the dash display. the vehicle does not shut off or stall, but it does enter limp mode. once the vehicle is shut off and restarted the wrench light is no longer illuminated and the vehicle will operate normally. this situation repeated 4 different times on the incident date. after speaking with the service manager at the local ford dealership the problem was acknowledged as a defective throttle body. *tr
I was traveling at approximately 65mph down a two lane highway when i lost all throttle response through my accelerator pedal. engine went to a very "rough" idle around 600 - 800 rpm and the maintenance wrench indicator light illuminated. luckily i was traveling down grade and was able to safely coast the vehicle to the shoulder of the highway. after safely parking the vehicle i depressed the accelerator pedal with absolutely no response. after having the vehicle towed to a dealership the service technician smiled and told me it was the throttle body that was malfunctioning. quoted me on a price for a new part and labor without even inspecting the vehicle ($352)! if this problem was obvious to the technician without the vehicle even being checked, why hasn't ford recalled this part? *tr
While driving on the highway the vehicle suddenly lost power, the wrench light turned on and it began to shake as if driving on a rumble strip. i had to pull through three lanes of traffic during rush hour without power just to reach the shoulder. i turned the vehicle off and had to gather myself, really happy not to have been hit by other vehicles. i attempted to turn the vehicle back on after a few minutes and the light had turned off and everything worked fine. the same thing happened the next morning on a residential street. taking the car into a ford dealer as soon as i can. *tr
Multiple incidents have occurred. the vehicle will be cruising at highway speeds, then lose all engine power and the car begins to shake violently. i need to put my hazards on and come to a complete stop wherever i am, including busy traffic. the car continues to shake while shifting into park. after in park, i turn the car off, wait 30 seconds, then start it again. the shaking ceases upon restarting, and will drive fine for 5-10 minutes before repeating the incident over again and losing all engine power. a ford dealership diagnosed the problem as a failed throttle body. the repair cost over $500. *tr
When traveling down the road in typical conditions the power could cut out on the engine. electrical power would still be on but no power would go to the engine forcing me to pull off the road and restart. this has happened several times and caused a minor bump with a traffic barrel. ford lists this as service notice when it should be a recall, i could have been killed had i not had enough room to avoid the semi truck speeding behind me. *tr
I was driving home from the store today on a 4 lane road and was making a left turn when the car powered down to 1 mph and stayed there. thankfully the car i turned in front of had plenty of time to slow down to avoid me. i traveled two blocks home as the car only allowed me to go 1 mph with the wrench light on and with a slightly jerky ride. i called my local repair shop and they got me in to take a look at it. i assumed bad gas or a fuel line needed to be cleaned, but also thought it was odd that a three year old car needed any work. they troubleshooter and cleaned the fuel lines and took out the moisture they thought was causing this. the mechanic then took it for a test run in the local parking lot where the car shut down on him and once he restarted the car ran fine. he said no codes came up but with investigating online he found it to be the fuel throttle needed to be replaced and he would call me for an estimate and that i might want to join the complaint issue online. i will receive my estimate on monday. ford really needs to take care of their customers. i have no problem paying for a wear and tear issue. i do have a problem with companies ignoring customer complaints and not tackling the issue before a death ensues. is it really worth someone being severely injured or killed over saving your name? funny part is that i choose to go back to an american made car after wanting to support the recovery and fellow family members that work for ford. i will never forgive ford if they do not take care of this and if my car is $400.00 or more in repair. this has happened 4 times now and i am afraid to drive the car. please help. *tr
This has happened twice. when i reach speeds around 45 and above, the car seems to stall and the throttle cuts out, leaving me without a way to accelerate. i have had to pull over on the side of busy highways, let my car rest for a little bit then start it back up. it seems reluctant to start. took it to local ford dealership and they concluded it was the throttle body and i would need it replaced. googled ford fusion throttle body and many others have had the same thing happen, including accidents cause by it. *tr
Car lost power while driving at 45 mph, after about 10 minutes of driving. it would not respond to accelerator pedal and the wrench light went on. i pulled off to side of road; car restarted after 2-3 tries; drove without incident for next 1500 miles. since then has stalled three times, usually within a few minutes of initial start driving at 30-40 mph. each time, restarts with one or two tries and runs ok, but feels sluggish. *tr
Throttle body shorted battery and caused engine to stall in traffic. when trying to restart, engine sped up fast became very dangerous. ford has these throttle bodys on back order... that's sad. pls recall asap before someone loses their life. *tr
While accelerating up a hill or incline, the motor powered down to the point of stalling, whereby i was almost involved in an accident. this has happened twice today, and on one occasion in december 2012, but the specifics i cannot recall. *tr
I was going down the interstate felt my car jerk like it slipped out of gear and then i was unable to accelerate, i managed to pull over turn the car off. after restarting it, it was fine. i took it to the dealership i purchased it at turns out it was the throttle body, which seems to be a common problem with the 2010 fusions. since it was no longer under warranty i did some research on line and found a ton of complaints just like mine. i called ford and asked about the recall however my car was not under recall for this problem. and there was nothing they would do to make it good. so i'm stuck paying the repair bill for something evidentially is a common problem. it is a safety concern and dangerous. *tr
Car lost acceleration, power, there was shaking had to pull over turn car off and continue on. happened again on aug 8th, 2013. *tr
Car was idling in park. put car in drive, started moving forward slowly and the engine started to shake, lost throttle control, check engine and wrench lights illuminated. engine died within about 10 seconds. turned the ignition off and restarted the car. it ran normally for about 25 feet and exhibited the same symptoms as before. restarted the car again and was able to limp the car to a suitable parking space about 250 feet away. after sitting for a minute with the car off, i started it again and it ran normal for the rest of the day. i drove to the nearest autozone and had them scan the computer codes. found p2111 - throttle actuator control. *tr
Driver was driving 2010 ford fusion approximately 50 mph when the vehicle started to shake and decelerate. it felt like the vehicle was losing power. driver had to put hazard lights on and pull off the road. the vehicle was turned off and the driver was able to restart the vehicle and drive slowly to a convenience store where she was able to call to be towed to the nearest ford dealership. when the vehicle arrived at the ford dealership it was diagnosed as having a throttle body failure. the vehicle is currently still in the shop waiting for the throttle body assembly to be available to replace the faulty part. currently the driver is without the vehicle that is required for them to do their job. *tr
Engine is surging when stopped at lights and now when air conditioner is on it goes almost off while the surge happens then comes back on when the surge stops. i have to keep my foot on the brake tight as the car wants to move. happens every 5-10 seconds or so and every time i am at idle. when pulling into garage at slow speed the car surges so i have to drive with my foot on the brake. *tr
I was very worried when my car appeared to just turn off as i was slowing down from the interstate. i thought it was a fluke, bad connection and hoped it would never do it again. car did start back up with no issues, that day. unfortunately, it happened a lot on saturday 7/20/13. i parked the car and never drove it sunday. called ford first thing monday - 7/22/13 and they were too busy to help. i had to take my car to a non dealership and they confirmed it was the throttle body. i had previously researched and wrote down the codes that would possibly come up. as the other company stated this is a known issue, i thankfully have an extended warranty to cover cost but i was advised that this is around $1,000. ford is charging me my deductible for a known safely issue that has not been recalled? why? when? im hoping by adding to the list we can make sure they take care of their customers before they issue arises rather than after we are stuck on the side of the road. i've been without a car for 2 days and no concern of ford. i need a reliable car, as im still paying for it. all of the issues are exactly following these articles - http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2013/02/25/probe-ford-cars-suvs-stalling/1945799/ and http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2013/02/25/feds-probe-725000-limp-ford-mercury-vehicles-for-fault/ i've had horrible service from ford and would prefer a non partisan company to fix but i am forced to go back to them to take car of issue. *tr
My wife was driving the car on our residential street a couple of weeks ago when the car began shaking and stopped. after restarting, car functioned normally. this was dismissed as an anomaly the first time. on 8.1 the car did it twice in the 8 mile trip home from work with my son and wife. today, my wife and i were in the car when it did it right in front of the dealer where we bought it (unfortunately, it is saturday and the garage is closed) then while i was waiting in front of panera a short time later the car just died. there again, each time the car restarted and ran normally. *tr
Leaving driveway vehicle appeared to loose all power from the engine, it did not stall, engine indicator light came on the first attempt to leave backed car up into drive way. checked all fluids engine oil, transmission oil were both in the appropriate range. restarting the car engine light cleared, second attempt to leave car hesitated and then did stall check engine light returned and stayed illuminated. restarting the vehicle and returned home. let vehicle set about ten minutes, restarted engine light stayed on, drove car short distance about .25 miles did not stall or hesitate however check engine light remained illuminated. *tr
60 mph on highway. wrench light came on. lost power. coasted to side of road (luckily safely). turned car off. restarted after a few minutes. continued about 1/2 mile. happened again. did same thing. continued another 1/2 mile. did it again. engine shuttered this time. check engine light remains on. was able to restart vehicle and get home (approximately 2 miles). happened once shortly after used vehicle purchase in 2011 but never did again until now. internet search indicates defective throttle body part is cause. very unsafe particularly in highway driving when this happens! just purchased a second 2011 ford fusion se (2011) for our teenager. concerned about our child's safety. ford needs to issue a recall!. *tr
I was at a stop at a railroad crossing. upon applying the gas to go, i started to loose all power with the engine starting to shake, and the car seeming to stall, but limping along. nothing happened as i pressed the gas pedal. i was able to pull the car over to the side of the road in a parking lot. the dashboard had a wrench light on. the car in the engine area was still vibrating and shaking, with no power but to limp along. i turned the car off. waiting a few minutes and the car started up, but shaking an sputtering. i was able to drive the car to my job without any further problem. i called the ford dealer and make an appointment for the following monday. when going home, i drove at 30 miles per hour. the car lost all power two more times, stalling and limping along with the wrench lite on. i was able to get the car to the side of the road and it limped to my home. at this point, car was not safe to drive and the next day, aaa towed car from my driveway to ford dealer. i mentioned the throttle body problem and dealer told me it would have to happen when they test drive in order to have part changed. they did give me a loaner and reported to me that car stalled out and lost power on their test drive. throttle body part was changed and car has performed well since that time. $550 bill at ford. this car was a death trap to drive with the throttle body defect. *tr
While accelerating, cruising or at idle, the engine stalls then dies. when restarting engine stumbles badly and dies. this happens in traffic, accelerating into intersections, at highway speeds, etc. mil is now on constantly. vehicle is completely unusable because it is past the warranty period. we will be replacing the throttle body at our own expense, but would like ford to reimburse us. *tr
