Vehicle will down shift randomly and still haven't heard back from ford about a remedy it's an open recall
Transmission shifted in to 2nd at 50 mph..lost control hit a fence pole..blew up my tranny..nobody will help with towing
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that the transmission failed and the vehicle exhibited engine oil failure. the vehicle was taken to randall reed's planet ford (19000 eastex fwy, humble, tx 77338, (866) 844-5995) where it was determined that the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 19v075000 (power train) and nhtsa campaign number: 11v128000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 172,245.
Only 98,000 miles on this very well maintained truck. no engine issue, no issues at all,, and as i accelerated to pass a slow moving vehicle, which means my turbos kicked in, my engine blew up. there was a clunck and then nothing. there is actually a hole in my engine block. this never should have happened. this engine is not built to withstand the turbos. i am aware of this happening to 4 other people with the exact same ecoboost motor. i have contact d ford and no one will take responsibility for this.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. while driving 65 mph, there was an explosive sound under the hood. the driver was able to coast the vehicle onto the road shoulder. the vehicle was towed to the contact's home. an independent mechanic arrived and found that one of the engine pistons failed and penetrated the engine, which caused the engine to explode. the vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, but was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 24890103. the approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
While driving on hwy at 55mph the transmission shifted from 6th to 3rd gear causing the truck to rapidly slow down mid traffic was able to pull over to the shoulder and stop this is the second time took it to the dealer they did something worked for a little but did not fix problem.
Timing chain stretch, code p0016
The timing chain was stretched and the end result is a bad engine. i purchased the truck in 2015 and only put 40,000 miles on it. the truck has a total of 110,000 miles . this model (ecoboost)has had numerous issues with the timing chain and ford refuses to do anything about it because it's not a " safety hazard ". i did the oil changes always at the recommended time and took good care of the truck. i reached out to the ford dealership i purchased it from and they will not help. in fact , i was told by the service department manager they were surprised this didn't happen sooner. this is a notorious issue and fords dirty little secret.
Throttle body needs replaced after 120000 miles after car stalled into 'limp mode' going highway speeds causing a dangerous situation. truck diagnosed at baxter ford south in omaha ne and anderson ford in libcoln ne. this is a safety concern when the truck gave no warning signs and just hesitated and slowed down with little or no response to throttling. there are hundreds of cases of this with the ford f-150 2011. there have been other fords around that year that have had throttle body issues. i don't know why this is. it a recall?
The truck on its own downshifted to 1st gear while driving on the freeway at 65-70mph. the check engine light came on. this happened 3 times. the obd error code p0720. the dealer could not find anything wrong with it and returned it without any updates to the software or replacing the speed sensor.
Loss of power while driving on interstate . whether accelerating to pass or the need to accelerate in any instance or any time!! in a recent trip via interstate the truck lost power !! if i would have been traveling on secondary roads and attempting to pass , i do not believe i would have made it. check engine light came on! i brought it to the repair shop and they ran tests on it and said it did code dtcp0016 when deleting the code it would come back!!! i have parked the truck and was told there were numerous complaints to the ntsb on same problems. i bought the truck new and it only has 56000 miles on it an the ford service said it was out of warranty i believe this is a safety problem that needs to be addressed!!!
Driving about 80 miles per hour, the engine battery light and overheating light came on, pulled over to find that the pulley by the idler pulley came off with part of the engine block. this should not have happened.
Truck had had a recall on the issues that we are having. now we have been told that recall no long exist and that it was taken off of recall. we are having trouble with the transmission range senor circuit. code p705 and it's hoing to cost almost 600.00 to fix. is there still at recall on this?
The engine revs and rpm suddenly increase regardless of gear. after the mph and rest of front display goes blank. after pulling over shutting of engine and restarting the truck the system resets. very dangerous at high speeds.
My check engine light came on, code scanned was p0016. the code scanner states it's an issue with the timing chain loosening over time. the truck has a very prominent rattle sound for about 2-3 seconds upon an initial start up in the cold weather. the other day i went to pass someone, and lost power in the engine and my truck would not accelerate past the car. ford is aware of the issue, as people all over the country and canada are having the same issue with 2011-2012 ford f150 with the ecoboost engine. to me this seems like an obvious safety issue that ford should take care of. seems like an engineering flaw to me. the timing chain coming loose, and engine rattling like it's coming apart has to be causing damage as time goes on. the problem i had while trying to pass the car was on a lane 55mph road.
When entering interstate in rain engine misfired truck slowed. ford engineers modified boost intake charged me $274.80 to correct design flaw.
Engine completely turns off or dies and all instruments also turn off. not able to steer or navigate the vehicle at all. it's completely dead. also transmission lurches forward with no warning at low speeds causing you to slam on brakes or hit whatever is in front of you.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to crank and start intermittently. on several occasions, the contact had to wait a brief moment before the vehicle would restart after several attempts. in addition, when the gear was changed, the gear indicator would not display on the instrument panel. also, the "prndl" illumination failed to illuminate. long mcarthur ford (3450 s 9th st, salina, ks 67401, (785) 823-2237) and the manufacturer indicated that the vehicle was excluded from manufacturer campaign number: 12c123 and nhtsa campaign number: 12v190000 (power train, exterior lighting) due to the mileage. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer provided no assistance. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 145,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. while driving various speeds, the vehicle shook and stalled. the vehicle had to remain parked for a while and multiple attempts had to be made for it to restart. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to bill alexander ford lincoln mercury (801 e 32nd st, yuma, az 85365, (928) 344-2200) where it was diagnosed and a computer reset was performed; however, the reset made things worse. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 50,000.
While driving down the highway the fault code for timing chain p0016 came on and engine seized in the middle of the highway. i lost all power steering and brake power which caused me to almost collide with other vehicles trying to get off the highway with no power. after finally getting truck on the off ramp it took all i had to get it to stop at the intersection putting my life and the driver of the suv at the intersection life in danger.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. while driving various speeds, the vehicle downshifted and the rear wheels seized. in addition, the rpm gauge decreased to zero and the wrench symbol illuminated. the local dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000 (power train). the failure mileage was 181,000.
Bad transmission leadframe assembly as previously identified by ford in a recall causing vehicle to lose power at 65mph requiring vehicle to be stopped and restarted; ford has identified issue as 16v-248 but told me that my vehicle missed the campaign as my vehicle build date was 11 days prior to their recall dates; however, my vehicle was built at same plant (dearborn) and had same identical error codes for problem; ford rep at 866-436-7332 told me that although problem seems the same nothing can be covered; to resolve cost me $751.27. always occurred while vehicle in motion.
Vehicle runs rough and throws a check engine light. when the engine is warm it runs smoother. after trouble shooting possible problems, it was determined to probably be a sticky valve. it is my understanding, there was a recall on this particular issue. i want to know if this truck was serviced and the issue corrected while owned by the original owner. if yes, it is broken again.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. while driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle downshifted to first gear and the rear wheels seized. in addition, the check engine indicator illuminated. the contact called the local dealer (al bilton ford, 7621 old state road, holly hill, sc 29059, 877-722-7214) and was informed that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000 (power train). the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 15747379. the failure mileage was 130,000. the vin was not available.
The truck looses power while driving down the road. most of the time i have been driving as a slow rate of speed 20-35 mph. the engine continues to run and the wrench light comes on the dash. the transmission receives no power and the truck will only coast forward . immediate solution is to pull over, shut the engine off and restart. the truck then has power. the problem may repeat itself within miles or it may not repeat for days/weeks. this happen 18 months ago, 4 months ago, and 2 days ago.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. when the accelerator pedal was depressed, there was a sudden loss of engine power and the vehicle hesitated to the point that it could stall without warning. capital ford (3660 s carson st, carson city, nv 89701, (775) 882-5353) was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to schedule a diagnostic appointment. the vehicle hesitated while at a stop, during acceleration, and while making a turn, which caused the contact to have to downshift. customer service campaign program number: 15n05 (electric vacuum pump recall) was referenced as a possible cause of the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
Had complete brake failure. was able to get the truck stopped. saw it was 2 pints low on fluid. added fluid, drove towards my auto shop, had to stop to fill the brake fluid again (the light went on this time). did this a few times. just before i got to the stop, the truck blew out some smoke, chugged, and the motor seized up. towed the truck to the shop, they found out the master cylinder leaked and the vacuum lines sucked the brake fluid out of the master cylinder and dumped it into the cylinders in the motor and this blew my motor. i hear there is a recall for this on 2014 f-150s but not on the 2011. terrible design. a brake problem should not blow up my motor.
While driving my 2011 f150 i got of i99 at the tyrone exit. while slowing to a stop at about 35 mph the truck shifted from 5thgear to 1st which cause the wheels to squawk and slide almost causing me to lose control, i pulled over in the bk parking lot shut it off an restarted once i put it in gear to drive it showed i was in 5th gear so i shut it off again waited a few minutes s td started it again and this time it was in 3rd so i repeated. the next time it was in first so i drove home the back roads to be safe as i got up to speed it started to act up again the speedometer show i was going 0mph but i was going 25mph again the truck slammed in an out of gear i took it to my local ford deal they diagnosed it as a lead frame hope this fixes the problem as i'm scared to drive my truck. i do have videos of when its acting up but i cant figure out how to upload them.
Vehicle downshifts while driving abruptly and without cause. this has occurred at highway and city speeds as well as with and without a trailer in tow. the front end still is all over the road, following tire replacement, brake replacement and alignment.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. while driving 55 mph, the vehicle shifted into first gear on its own. the contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road and powered off the engine. the vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normally. the vehicle was taken to bill marsh ford (located at 408 w mile rd, kalkaska, mi 49646, (231) 258-9192) where the transmission was upgraded. the vehicle was repaired. on another occasion, the engine performed as if it were misfiring. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine and timing chain needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. after leaving the independent mechanic and while at a stop sign, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle failed to start and was towed to the contact's residence. the vehicle was later taken to another independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact stated that he replaced the timing chain on his own, but not the engine. the vehicle was later taken to bill marsh ford gaylord (located at 1928 otsego ave, gaylord, mi 49735, (989) 732-6737) where it was diagnosed that the engine valve on the left bank failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees and still remained at the dealer. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. the contact was referred to nhtsa. the approximate failure mileage was 96,000.
Timing chain replaced 2015. started grinding noise at start up again & transmission light on again. timing chain again has to be replaced.
Driving 70 mph when 2011 ford f-150 while driving in cruise control with a/c on lost all power..........and a tool displayed on dash. i was able to pull over on-side of interstate luckily.......turned off vehicle waited a few minutes and re-started with no further issues. i'm concerned this is similar to other issues ford products have been having. need answers before your vehicle hurts my family!!!
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. while driving approximately 10 mph, the contact heard a loud bang sound from the engine compartment. the contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road to find that coolant was leaking onto the ground. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and it was determined that the coolant was leaking into the oil and there were also metal shavings in the mixture. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 94,000.
My truck is having the issues outlined in the nhtsa investgation pe13018. in some cases in rainy or humid conditions the engine misfires (sometimes without any codes) and loses power when accelerating. the engine sometimes than won't shift out of a lower gear until it is shut off and restarted. the ford tsb (12-10-19) and related q&a provided to the nhtsa has a fix but because the dealership has not repeated the issues (it hasn't been humid out and they aren't doing it under highway or open throttle speeds). we have given dates, experiences and codes to the dealership (including ones in the tsb). but as they can't recreate it in the service bay, they won't make the fix.
When coming to a stoplight on a city street, brakes were applied but the engine raced to a high rpm . next i pushed pedal harder but rear tires were now spinning on dry pavement. i put f-150 truck into park stopping inches from the car stopped ahead of me at stoplight.
Went to pass a slower car on the highway and my truck started shacking bad and slowed way down. the truck only has 60000 miles and has been well cared for.it felt like i was driving on square tires.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. while starting the vehicle, the contact heard a grinding noise coming from the engine. the dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 84,000.
My timing chain stretched at 48 thousand miles. ford needs to do a re-call on this. it is not ok that the consumer has to pay for a faulty product. long time ford owner and this needs to be fixed
5.0 engine started knocking at 130k miles. timing chains are also stretched causing another ticking sound.
The morning after i bought my truck in november. i went too start it on a cold morning and noticed a rattling noise coming from engine. only does it when engine is cold. i've been told it is my timing chain. and the dealer wouldn't fix it since there was no warranty
2011 3.5 ecoboost with 50,000 miles would lose power when passing and pulling into traffic due to cam timing chain defect and engine ended up blowing up. $5,640 repair at 54,000 miles and still no recall on this common problem with this engine .
The truck is making a severe rattling noise upon start up, which caused check engine light to come one. codes are saying its timing chain related. truck will loose power while driving, you can't push accelerator down without it stalling out or without it missing real bad and jerking. had truck worked on previously by ford dealer for the missing and acceleration issues. dealer said it was a coil pack and changed it out and plugs and wires. here i am within 10,000 miles later and its worst than ever. there is something seriously wrong with these ecoboost engines and timing chain issues. absolutely no reason that a $40,000+ vehicle can't make it past 70,000 miles without having timing chain issues! extremely disappointed in ford and the way they are handling this issue. zero assistance or help. next step after this official complaint will be a law suit.
At 10k blowing black smoke, lose power when passing at 10k also, check engine light at 40k. dealer found nothing wrong and cleared code and check engine light went off. at 54 k engine ran rough and wanted to stall, began to make noise. towed to dealer. timing chains went bad and bent valves. dealer said 10,000 dollars for new engine. i talked to ford and they said nothing could be done. dealer said to call them again. they said nothing can be done again. next day dealer called and said they would do the engine for 5643.00 dollars. the truck only has 54,000 miles!
Water pump failed
Coolant leaks at multiple points where o-rings are located.
I was driving home from the store when the check engine light came on so i connected a code reader and pulled a p0016. crankshaft/camshaft correlation sensor. i took the truck to a mechanic to find out what can cause this code. after checking out the engine they found that the primary timing chain is stretched causing the play in the engine. this play causes the crankshaft and camshaft timing to be off enough to cause this engine code. this truck has 55000 miles on it and in no way should be having timing chain issues this soon. clearly ford has a problem with this timing chain and i should not have to spend $3,500.00 to have this fixed. this is a growing problem for folks who have these trucks and needs to offer a solution before someone gets hurt.
Misfire at high speeds. causing engine shake and unable to accelerate. due to this problem it is a huge risk of being rear ended because of speed drop. huge safety concern . spark plug and coil change only helps for a month at a time. this is in the ecoboost model
While trying to accelerate at higher speeds the vehicle shakes and appears to misfire. when this happens the vehicle struggles to accelerate and black smoke appears from the exhaust. this occurs mostly while trying to pass another vehicle. the check engine light appeared in the beginning and the code referenced a problem with one of the ignition coils which was subsequently changed but the problem still existed without any codes appearing.
Going around 70mph on route 95, truck suddenly shifts from 6th gear down to 1st on it's own, rear wheels locked up and i skidded nearly off the road. luckily i had my seat belt on or i would have been thrown into the windshield it was so jolting. came to a stop, no dash lights or engine indicators came on. turned the truck off, waited about 5 minutes, turned the truck back on, no check engine light, everything seemed ok, slowly drove the next 2 miles to my office. checking ford's website, there appears to be a safety recall for this issue. the molded lead frame is the issue, causing random downshifts.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. while driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled and failed to reset. the contact stated that an unknown red warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to hagen ford (3980 euclid ave, bay city, mi 48706 (989) 684-4600) where it was diagnosed that valves within the engine came in contact with the engine heads and the engine needed replacement. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under warranty for the timing chain. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was out of the 24 month coverage because it began at 28 months. the manufacturer referred the contact to nhtsa. the failure mileage was 85,000.
