Problems with 2011 Ford F-150 ENGINE

On average, the 2011 Ford F-150 starts to “feel” problems with the ENGINE and its various aspects after 53 463 miles.

Recently reported ENGINE problems on 2011 Ford F-150

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that the vehicle shook violently. the contact heard an abnormal noise and experienced a complete loss of power. the vehicle was not operable. the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the camshaft failed, there were multiple cylinder failures, low compression, and the engine was no longer salvageable. the technician diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. prior to the failure, the driveshaft was replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 121,000.

Takata recall there is a cold start noise kinda sounds like a grinding noise also have a huge power loss when ever trying to accelerate. i get codes p0016 p0017 p0299 . i have changed all came and crank sensors.

While traveling at highway speed i wanted to accelerate and pass someone. i pulled into the left lane and pressed the gas. the engine shook the truck and it loss power. i had to move back into the lane.

The timing chain belt was skipping, it would cause the engine light to come on while driving but then the engine light would go off the next time i'd stay it. this did this for as long as i had it. i mentioned the issue tho the dealer but when in the garage the engine light was no longer on and they would tell me nothing was wrong and no error codes were coming up. i've had this truck only 1 year 7 months and it started stalling out. i brought it to the garage and it was the timing chain.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle lost power. in addition, the check engine warning light illuminated. the failure recurred on numerous occasions. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 86,000.

The engine (3.5l ecoboost) has a rattle in the front region when started and at lower rpm's which was followed by the check engine indicator (timing chain issue). when driving in the city the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light and started to shake violently. the shaking ceased upon accelerating. the vehicle was immediately driven to a mechanic where we learned that the vct unit (exhaust side) had separated and a piece of the internal component flew outward boring a hole through the valve cover. we do not know where the projectile ended (hopefully not into another vehicle or pedestrian). it was also found that the oil was so low (from the hole in the valve cover) that it did not register on the dip stick nor did the indication alert notify the driver in the instrument panel. we brought the vehicle to a local kendall ford dealership for the rattle/misfire issue before the vct ruptured and they gave the truck a clean bill of health after the replacement of a spark plug on cylinder #2. the misfire occurred when we were driving on a long highway 60mph and started to shutter and shake which almost caused us to crash (it already has the cac tsb fix installed). nhtsa should re-open the investigation on that because the fix did not work. it may have improved it, but didn't fix the problem. we have contacted ford on may 4th about this issue and the representative said there is no recalls or alerts concerning our vehicle and we would have to fix it out of pocket. we are currently trying to work something out with the dealer. however, this issue when searched appears to be a very common one and due to faulty parts, ford should in good faith offer a recall because for this fix, like ours, is about $2000.00 conservatively. our vehicle has about 121,000 miles on it.

On wide open throttle engine misfires . got it to set a code after another hard throttle.drove truck 1500 miles and got 21 mpg.after trip i took it to dealer codes po300 0304 0305 0306.had tsb for problem done last june. still has same problem.dealer states may be plugs. doesn"t seem possible getting 21 mpg with bad plugs. they want 260 dollars to check plugs on one bank. ford needs to get this problem with wide open throttle miss fixed before someone gets hurt or killed.tsb did not fix the problem. the newer trucks have a different innercooler system is the moisture causing bad spark plugs? what's going on here?

Thousands of ford f150 owners (20011-2015) bave experiencing with ecoboost engines mostly with my most recent issue "timing chain stretching chain" and faulty cam phasers, i believe we deserve to at least get our vehicles fix. i struggle paying my truck and i cant pay 4000 dlls to fix this issue that i strongly believe is a ford's negligence. please help us my name is [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

#1: driving down the interstate, attempting to pass a semi; vehicle lost power as i tried to accelerate and we had to coast to a stop. this has actually happened twice. the first time they replaced the intercooler and the second time i replaced the spark plugs. it occurred about three weeks after getting the vehicle it's regular service. if there was a problem with the gaps on the plugs, and they knew cars were losing power because of it, then they should have mentioned that at the service! #2: driving down the interstate and speedometer jumped around and went to zero. after i got off the highway, i lost power and had erratic shifting while trying to cross an intersection. there's a tsb out for this too!! why isn't there a recall if there's a defective part that creates dangerous situations!?!?

At 50 mph while accelerating in traffic the engine shook and i lost power. this only happens with the ecoboost engine. ford told the nhtsa this was corrected and the suit was ended. ford will not install this repair in my truck.

Under acceleration the vehicle shudders, and shakes. it seems to lose power for seconds before it picks back up. has happened several times while pulling my camper and passing vehicles on highway and interstate. the other day while driving down the parkway the truck down shifted from 6th gear to 1st or 2nd without warning. i was almost rear ended and had to drive off onto the shoulder to avoid the collision. i have contacted ford and i will be taking the truck in for warranty work on wednesday april 6th 2016. i only have 3k miles left on power train warranty and none left on bumper to bumper. i purchase ford vehicles cause of there long lasting and reliable reputation. i have two children and wife that i expect to keep safe while driving this truck. i hope ford will look deeper into the problems at hand, dont be like gm and kill people before you fix the issues.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that the instrument panel seized without warning. the failure was persistent. the engine stalled while the failure was occurring. the vehicle was able to restart. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure could not be determined. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 50,000. the vin was not available.

My f-150 supercrew 4x4 with ecoboost engine began misfiring on hard acceleration situations, such as merging and changing lanes on the interstate. after approximately 2 months, the issue has gotten worse to the point of misfiring under normal acceleration. the jerking from the misfire condition is quite violent, and i believe to be unsafe. this is a known issue related to the design of the trucks intercooler. condensation builds during prolonged highway driving, particularly in humid climates. i am in arizona, but i drive 50+ miles a day on the freeway. the nhtsa dropped their investigation of this unsafe condition, apparently agreeing that ford's tsb was sufficient in dealing with the matter. my truck is not under warranty, however it exhibits a design flaw that is unsafe. how is there not a recall on this? disappointing.

I own a 2011 ford f150 ecoboost v6. for the past year, the engine will quit making power under acceleration when merging onto a highway or passing. i currently have 65000 miles. ford has told me there are no recalls and invited me to spend my money in their service department when this is clearly a known issue. this is clearly and unsafe issue and just a matter of time before someone attempts to merge on a highway and is hit by another vehicle because the truck suddenly lost power.

There are @ hoses that come out of the radiator and go into a hard plastic t-piece (part number dr3z-8566-a) and there are o-rings inside of it. mine started leaking and i was informed that i had to replace the whole piece no big deal. then the dealer ship went on to tell me that they have replaced 6 in the last 2 weeks of the same exact year and model. the dealer ship is in lima ohio. that being said if there are so many of these that are going bad and the vehicle only being 5 years old i feel like there is obviously a defect in the part/ design of it that causes it to fail.

When accelerating, especially going uphill, the engine makes a repetitive whooshing noise.

My 2011 ford f-150 with the ecoboost package will stall upon acceleration. the engine light will flash momentarily. this is a safety issues as it causes the vehicle to act in a manner that inst predictable when changing lanes on an interstate or passing. this has happened on multiple occasions and a simple google search indicates this issue is widespread with this model.

In 2016 i went to get recall repaired from franklin tn dealership i purchased the truck from, they refused, in 2019, they claim that the software was not available from ford, online in emails to another dealer, i have not been told when to bring truck in to get all recalls repaired. both dealerships are in tn. when in first gear, the truck will jerk back down and won't allow me to go to 2nd gear without pressing hard on gas, loud fan noise from the hood, breaks go to the floor and i have to pump to feel truck slowing down, air and heat continue to not work, air won't get cool and heat won't get hot, both dealerships have refused to repair or blamed ford for not giving them what they needed to fix the recalls. i am documenting so my family will be able to give this to attorney. the down shift happens when the truck is in drive moving on any and every street, parking lot, stop light/sign. the loud fan noise from the engine only happens when the truck is started, the brakes have been going to the floor for 8 years at different times of the day/night when driving.

Engine coolant is overheating. engine coolant temperature gauge in the normal range ( between h and c ) .transmission fluid temperature gauge (between h and c ) . gauge detail- ---- trans temp -195 - 210 f .20 minutes driving (not towing ) .check the level of the coolant in the reservoir --- low!!! . adding 1/2 gall -5o/50 mixture coolant. 02/16/2016 - apple ford (columbia , md ) check engine cooling system. --- found coolant tank and coolant hose from tank to heater core leaking. car mileage-44117. car for life oil and filter change, mulitpoint inspection.

2011 ford f150 lariat - when accelerating to pass, engine lights will flash and the truck will lose power. after several seconds of flashing, the engine light stays on and the truck decelerates. i shut the truck off and then re-started but the engine light stayed on. i was traveling on a highway and had to pull off to a city street. very dangerous situation.

Upon downshift during acceleration, the truck shudders, misfires, backfires through exhaust system, and loses power while creating a violent shake in the drivetrain. this occurs in below 35 dry or wet weather. this issue destroyed my catalytic converters, as well as broke loose the baffles in factory muffler causing over $2,000 in repairs for exhaust. i further replaced plugs, and plug boots. the vehicle continues to have this severe issue, and the only way to keep from further damaging the vehicle is to pull off the road, and idle as well as rev engine for several minutes. it is extremely unsafe, and nearly caused other vehicles to rear ended me on at least 5 occasions. all of which i had to jump onto shoulder of road or in median to keep from getting hit. my research shows that this is a common problem amongst owners of this vehicle. i currently owe $22,000 on this vehicle, and am quite frustrated with the lack of a recall from ford. solutions of a walker cac are known; however, ford is not willing to even consider paying for this fix. please help in the resolving of this issue?

Primary timing chain wear. according to tsb. 15-0044,the structure of the timing chain is inferior to the point it stretches. if it breaks, the engine will be compromised and a full re-haul of engines interior will be needed. a loud grinding noise is always heard upon startup in a "cold" start up.several complaints on line concering ford's below standard of material / cost of any repairs. also mentioned is after repairs are done, same trouble returns in short period of time after repairs. unknown the affect the timing chain will have on vehicle if it breaks in transit. note: as far as i can tell, the issue has started as soon as vehicle purchased reaches "out of warranty" mileage status.

Vehicle has been sputtering & missing. heavy hesitation on acceleration. on 12/01/15 my truck equipped 3.5 ecoboost started missing upon acceleration then lost all power and started to shake vigorously. after taking it to the ford dealership for diagnostics they returned with saying my engine, turbos & crankshaft are damaged and must be all replaced. i am within the 5 year warranty but exceeding the mileage with 71,000. myself & holmes tuttle ford filed a claim with ford both being denied any help.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. while driving approximately 50 mph attempting to pass a tractor trailer, the engine misfired and the vehicle would not properly accelerate. during the incident, the check engine light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the spark plugs were replaced, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 88,000.

Ford f150 3.5l ecoboost completely looses power when accelerating in passing gear. vehicle shutters and bucks severally and does not allow any type of acceleration to be able to exit into slow lane interstate traffic. normal operation returns after about 1.5 minutes of coasting and then gently applying accelerator to regain vehicle control. during the recovery time the engine runs very rough as if timing was completely out of sync.i drive 1000 miles per week on interstate 95 and this condition is ongoing. i experience at least 2 or 3 of these episodes per week when i try to accelerate to pass another vehicle. this is a safety concern to me because the vehicle looses power completely and does not recover until 1.5 minutes later. the check engine light comes on very time this condition occurs. when reading the error codes it only show misfiring of all cylinders (code p0300).

Engine losses power and shudders badly when trying to accelerate to over take. engine light comes on and when diagnosed says misfire number 4 cylinder, checked and installed new plug and coil after 50 miles the same problem and dealer says they can not fix issue. this is the third time this has happened after coils have been replaced. the replacement coils were oem motorcraft units. in reading about this problem it appears that this power unit has a large number of complaints and issues.

Truck has loss of power when pulling out to pass at highway speeds nearly causing head on crashes.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the vehicle stalled without warning while driving 40 mph. the vehicle resumed normal function after restarting the engine. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was unable to be determined; however, the dealer discovered that the coolant system was not separating the sludge causing the sludge to penetrate the engine and activating the vehicle limp mode. the contact stated that the vehicle was not repaired. the contact stated that he would install an oil separation device to the vehicle independently. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 31,263.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving at 55 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed and the gauges in the instrument panel began to fluctuate. the check engine and the wrench warning light illuminated. in addition, the gear shift indicator began to change rapidly. the failure recurred intermittently. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

While accelerating on to the highway on a clear, warm, sunny day; the turbo engaged and the truck began to shudder. there was immediate deceleration and the check engine light began to flash. after easing up on the throttle and coasting, the light turned off and the truck began operating normally. this occurred within 1-mile of travel. i was unable to replicate the issue on the remainder of the drive. this is a major safety concern as the speed of the vehicle drops dramatically in a short distance and the vehicle is unable to recover rapidly, leaving the vehicle's occupants susceptible to potentially catastrophic accidents on the roadway.

Under acceleration or trying to pass a vehicle loss of power has been occuring. trying to accelerate into interstate from on ramp have had power loss and vehicle loses all acceleration.

Eco boost engine. problem has occurred several times. problem has occurred when rapidly pulling away from a toll booth after several hour of continuous interstate driving in the rain (occurred 10/2013 and 10/2015). problem has occurred when trying to pass another vehicle on a 2 lane road under the same type of rainy conditions (occurred 10/2015). engine will shudder and go into limp mode. truck was taken 2 years ago to the ford dealership for repair of this problem. two events occurred this past week under rainy conditions. truck is now out of warranty and still not fixed.

On october 26 at around 1230 pm i was going the speed limit 60 mph. on loop 250.all of a sudden my truck starts jerking really hard. i let go of the gas and looked at the dash the speedometer and gears were going crazy up and down. i was able to pull over safe cause it was lunch hour lots of traffic. turned truck off was shaking, scared and very upset. called my husband told him what happened asked if i was ok i said yes besides very shaken up. he said it might be the transmission or tcm . started the truck went slow to dealership. this was very traumatic experience i'm thinking what if the gears would've gotten stuck or reverse and i would've rolled. please look into this cause it was very scary.

On october 26 was on my way to work i was on loop 250 which is 60 mph. got on the loop was approaching an over pass when suddenly with no warning lights it starts jerking, a pulling, shaking. took foot off gas pedal looked at dash no warning lights on but the speedometer and gears on dash were going crazy going up and down. slowing down applying the brake slowly cause lots of traffic behind and i front of me. i was shaking and very upset finally pulled over and turned truck off called my husband i told him what happened. he asked if the truck turned on it did i took it to dealership going very slow. my husband met me there and i told them what happened. i was very shaken up almost in tears. this is a saftey issue im like what if the truck would have caught one of those gears when it was going up and down from 1-6 or reverse i would have flipped that truck. please please investigate this problem before it happens to someone else and is hurt or killed. it is nov 1 and they still have not even diagnosed my vehicle. i want it fixed correctly but 1 week and not even looked at yet. that is my only vehicle and it's been very inconvenient getting to work.

Reference 2011 ford f-150 ecoboost: was driving on the expressway at highway speeds and slowed to about 30mph for heavy traffic. when i began to increase speed truck began to shudder and the "check engine" light came on. started to pull toward the right shoulder from far left lane, when the engine stalled completely and had to roll without power to the shoulder. the truck/engine continued to limp to the dealer. this is the 8-9th time i've experienced this problem and the truck has left me and my kids in a dangerous situation on the interstate. to add insult to injury, each time this happened, the dealer hit me with the $100 diagnostic fee even though the truck is under warranty. all tsb's have been done and nothing has fixed the problem and actually has made matters worse by the dealer "reflashing" the truck and killing the avg. mpg. it is well known that the issue is with the intercooler and will have future major effects on the cat converter and turbos as well as carbon issues in the rear cylinders. the truck is in the shop at this moment and i am awaiting the dealers call. ford has done nothing to remedy this unsafe problem, that puts myself, my family and others at risk. btw, i have replaced the coils and spark plugs 4 times since the problem started at about the 34-36k mile mark.

Fault log code p0234, turbo noise hissing, cutting out. loss of power. poor acceleration. coolant leeks, oil leeks. returned to corning ford for more service work. original service october 11 / 2015. second service december 28 / 2015 coolant leek, turbo hissing, cutting out hissing when under acceleration. condition when in motion on city street and highway driving.

While driving on interstate my vehicle started to miss fire and lose power. i was hauling a horse trailer going approximately 60 mph with large 18 wheel vehicles when the engine started miss firing and loosing power. was able to get off interstate and find a local ford dealership. while driving to ford dealership the check engine light continued to flash, i finally lost all power and the truck shuddered and flashers automatically went on, was able to get to dealer ship and was diagnosed with bad #4 coil. this was replaced under warranty with a $100 deductible and 6 days later same thing happened, again while hauling horse trailer on interstate, same issues with loosing power, check engine light flashing and truck shuddered. again was lucky enough to make it to a local ford dealership, this time #6 coil was diagnosed as being bad. this was changed under warranty with another payment of $100 deductible. because this happened twice while hauling my horses, and i had another 400 miles to go before reaching my final destination, i could not take the risk of this happening and loosing power while driving on interstates with 18 wheel vehicles at 60 mph and figure i might get lucky a third time and not be killed because an 18 wheeler couldn't stop or avoid hitting me when loosing power from 60 mph to 30 mph, i chose to have the other 4 coils replaced. after getting home i did some research and see this is under investigation with nhtsa and wanted to report the same issue. the other 4 coils i had replaced were not covered under warranty and now i find out that possibly that wasn't the issue but most likely moisture accumulation in intercooler system of truck. i'm concerned i don't have a truck that can be depended upon to keep me and my animals that are being transported in horse trailer safe.

Accelerated to merge onto the highway. truck suddenly lost all acceleration and began to shake. engine light came on. deceleration was as sudden as if i had slammed on my brakes. coasted to the side of the highway and turned of the truck. after a few minutes of me shaking, i restarted the truck. engine light was still on, but truck drove normally as long as i "crept" up to speed.

The low oil pressure light comes on when the oil is full. saying oil pump low pressure. this started about 4 weeks ago. it seems to only do this when rpm's are 1200 and below.

I was driving on a highway, towing a trailer in an area of heavy congestion. when i attempted to accelerate, the vehicle began to shake violently and lost power. the engine was apparently misfiring and was running very rough. the check engine light came on and i pulled off the highway. when i stopped, i put the vehicle in neutral, but left it running. the check engine light went off and the engine seemed to run fine. but ever since then, whenever i attempt to accelerate, the vehicle shakes violently and won't accelerate. this is going to cause an accident! i checked around the internet and this seems to be a common problem with this vehicle, but when i called ford they told me i would have to pay to have a local dealer run diagnostics. they admitted that they had issued a technical service bulletin to the dealers on a possible fix for the problem, but reading the other complaints on this nhtsa website, the fix did not solve the problem. i've never sued anyone in my life, but i see there is a class-action lawsuit against ford for this problem. i was hoping that if enough people report this problem that ford would do the right thing- we shall see....

My vehicle downshifts into 1st gear at all times but specifically when traveling about 70 mph, it has caused me to almost get ran into on the highway and almost seems you lose control for a bit, its been doing this for 2 1/2 years and is getting worse, i saw ford had a recall on this type of thing but they said it wasn't in my batch of trucks, i think my batch should also be investigated because my truck is doing exactly that

We drove the vehicle 6 hours with the air conditioner on.... parked it - started it again about 2 hours later. the vehicle revved very high, barely chugged as we drove and then the yellow "wrench" light came on - indicating transmission issues as well as a "limp home" mode. we were unable to drive the vehicle at that point and had to keep it parked.... after doing some research - we discovered that condensation had gotten into some sort of condenser and caused the eco-boost engine to misfire and essentially malfunction.

My vehicle as been miss firing since it had 20,000 miles. i have been involved in almost 2 accidents because upon merging onto oncoming traffic my vehicle will misfire, slowdown and will not speed up fast enough to merge onto the highway safely. because of this i have almost been hit twice by an 18 wheeler truck. i have taken the truck back to the dealership and they stated the miss firing due to air cooling system and it destroyed my catalytic converter. the dealership replaced my catalytic converter and installed some type of cooling shield, and now at 110,000 miles it's miss firing again and running sluggish. the cooling shield that was installed did not fix the problem at all. not only is the on going miss firing life threatening but has destroyed my catalytic converters twice which is causing my emissions to emit harmful smog into the environment. isn't their emission laws automakers must abide by? the miss firing is messing up my emission's which is harming the environment too.

When the turbo boost is 11psi misfiring begins - no after market engine programming. if turbo demand is not reduced, or is increased the engine light will come on and the transmission will be disengaged - 'limp mode.' on the date cited, this happened no less that 3 times. local humidity was 50-70%, as i recall, and there was no rain. i have experienced this multiple times with local humidity noted at 50 %. my experience is that the misfiring will occur anytime turbo psi exceeds 11, whether towing or not, though towing will be more apt to encounter 11psi. my trailer is within all tow load limits for my truck, axles and tongue, per ford's rv & trailer towing guide. my first experience with the truck going limp was june of 2014. i pulled the truck to the shoulder next to a guard rail and called for towing. the local ford dealer said that there had been a #3 cylinder misfire and a momentary head over-temp was - which triggered limp mode. i have reported the misfiring to my dealer, and with ford's customer service. the dealer says ford has nothing listed for my truck or the issue. i told customer service and my dealer that there is plenty of internet traffic on this issue. aside from the technical service bulletin implemented to put a larger air shield on the intercooler (cac), done to my truck in 2014 as a result of my experience, the issue still exists. it would seem to me that ford has not engineered a water separator to then drain off developed water from the condensation process before it is ingested into the cylinders. ingestion of the water into the cylinders would cause a spark misfire, as was suggested to me by a ford mechanic. my vehicle is still under a ford issued extended warranty, as a result of a separate transmission issue. god forbid this occur while to someone towing on a two lane road with no shoulder!

The engine lost power, the airconditioning shut off. when trying to accelerate, the truck shuddered hard. when the truck was brought to a stop, it was like everything reset. the engine would accelerate correctly, the air conditioning came back on, and there was no shudder.. the ford house said there were no codes stored to identify the problem. they recommended a $1100.00 tuneup.

On june 12, 2015 i was driving south on i 75 in georgia on my way to florida. i had the cruise set at around 80 mph and came up to a slower moving vehicle. i tapped the breaks to cancel the cruise control and then pressed the accelerator to pass the slower moving vehicle. as i pressed the accelerator the truck began to shake quite violently and the engine light on the dash began to flash. my truck slowed to about 55 or 60 mph. i attempted to accelerate my truck for a second time but i received no response from the throttle. i pulled the truck in to the far right lane and attempted several more times to get the truck to accelerate but with no response. about one or two miles later i felt a "kick" and the truck was back to normal like nothing had ever happened. the accelerator was working and the engine light was no longer on. i wrote the incident off to mabe getting a batch of bad gas at my last fill up.the rest of the trip and the return trip back to ohio my truck preformed fine. fast forward to yesterday june 21, 2015 i was on my way to the store and attempted to pass a slower moving vehicle on a country road when the same thing happened. again my truck began to shake and the engine light came on. my truck would not accelerate and i had to pull back in to my lane. after a couple hundred yards my truck snapped out of it and i could once again accelerate. after researching this issue i noticed that several other ford owners have been having similar issues. my truck is a 2011 ford f150 with the 3.5 l ecoboost v6 which seems to be the engine that is having the trouble. i also read that ford is refusing to acknowledge the potential problem with this particular engine.

I have taken my truck back while under warranty they never could find anything, but it had a mis when i would get on the gas. it never really stalled out but would jump pretty good, never seemed to run really smooth. i keep telling the dealer to please check out. i give up and keep driving the truck and now that its out of warranty they find that its something to do with variable camshaft and going to cost $4,400.00 to fix not counting the other things i having to pay for that was taken back while under warranty. from the day i bought the truck water has been in the passenger floor board and now they tell me, its the heater box need replace at a cost of $1,400.00 strange they can find all this now that i have to pay for it. my truck had to be parked due to this and i now have to figure out if i want to invest any more money in a truck or just junk what should be a truck worth $30,000.00

I was driving to work this very humid morning merging onto the interstate in my 2011 ecoboost f-150. as i accelerated to merge, my rpm's went up but my speed actually dropped just as vehicles were coming in at a high rate of speed behind me. i let off on the throttle and again pressed down on the accelerator with the same result. i was trapped between cars and caused one car to swerve dangerously on the highway. thankfully there was not an accident, but certainly got my fill of middle fingers from upset motorists and lucked out not being the victim of road rage my truck caused. a minute or so later the vehicle began to operate as normal. after researching online this morning i realized this is extremely common with this engine. i contacted both my local dealer and ford corporate only to be told there is no recall and if i "want someone to look at it" i would have to bring my vehicle in and pay for service since i am out of warranty.

Driving with my daughter, i took a corner at approximately 25mph and then pushed the gas to get moving and lost all power to the engine, tried putting in low gear but to no prevail, tried again shifting back to drive with nothing happening. at this time we are stuck in traffic with people flying by us and nothing i can do. finally i shut off the engine and let it sit for a minute. restarted and the check engine light came on but ran well enough for us to get home. i have not experienced this before and luckily we were close to home. if it happened once it will happen again and probably not the same luck i had this time. something needs to be done about this problem. thank you

Fx2 3.5l v6 ecoboost: was driving approx. 65 and had to quickly accelerate to pass. the turbos started to kick in and suddenly the engine began to shudder and misfire. check engine light came on and then went off. problem occurs during any sudden acceleration.
