While driving on the highway the vehicle seem to lose power i pull over to see if something major was wrong but nothing i can tell. i took it for service they told me the vehicle needed updates. a month later took another road trip the same thing happen, this is very dangerous. it happen on a major highway with vehicle driving at a high rate of speed and for my truck just loses power and speed on the highway. *tr
I own a 2011 f150 3.5l turbo ecoboost truck. it has cause me nothing but grief! violent hesitation/shaking on highway when passing. lose of power with engine light coming on left me on the road twice. finally engine block exploded with a rod shooting out of engine. oil spayed all over engine creating thick black smoke and poor visibility. pulled over had to get out of the truck because smoke was inside. countless ford attempts to fix the issue and nothing worked. eventually the whole engine was replaced. i just received my truck back and have lost total faith in this product. there is something wrong with this engine! i have all documentation for this. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated when the vehicle was turned on the engine idled excessively and the began to smoke. the failure was experienced numerous times. the vehicle also stalled while driving approximately 20 mph. the contact was a able to drive onto the emergency lane and restart the vehicle; however, when the accelerator pedal was depressed the transmission disengaged and the rpms increased. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing but they were unable to locate the failure. the dealer replaced the turbo charger line; yet, the failure was not corrected. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 20,000. the current mileage was 23,800.
When getting on the highway with pedal all the way down start to get shutter at 4100 rpm through 2nd gear and then when it is in 3rd gear at the same rpm it will shutter even worse and then sometimes the check engine light will come on and start blinking for up to a min and then the truck will not move at all. *tr
issue started again on 10 aug. 2013. when under mild to heavy acceleration (such as merging onto interstates) the engine develops a significant miss and shudder. vehicle was repaired once on 20 mar. 2013 under tsb # 13-3-3. *tr weather does not appear to be a factor. the "miss" was so severe with a k&n air charger high-flow intake kit installed that i had to reinstall the stock system. this was a none issue eventually because the ford dealership would not place the vehicle on diagnostics until i had reinstalled the stock kit.
Generally speaking with a new vehicle i "baby" a new vehicle until i get over 75,000 mi. first incident - noticed around 40,000 mi. when accelerating to pass at highway speeds the vehicle shudders and doesn't have power. thought it was bad gas, turbo lag, or intermittent transmission issue. problem occurred a few times over the years, every time was during acceleration to pass or merge on to expressway conditions. keep in mind since i was in the babying mileage range i rarely performed such acceleration. but after a couple of occurrences, i discussed this with a friend that also owns an ecoboost and he thought the same reasons. i have 7 year 100,000 extended warranty so i thought i would wait until the problem occurred frequently enough to easily trouble shoot. of course frequency wouldn't be enough until after i get out of the "baby" stage on mileage. currently the vehicle has over 75,000 miles. i no longer baby it. problem occurs every time i accelerate to pass at highway speeds. also, i have had the problem when accelerating to enter highway traffic from ramp. the ramp occurrence appears to be when i'm at a speed and then accelerate. not sure if the problem happens when accelerating from a stop or slow speed. i'm concerned this may lead to an accident and potential a life threatening or changing event. what is one life worth? i guess that depends on if its yours. i believe this is a life threatening event and know that drivers like myself once aware pay attention and proceed with caution and this is the reason there hasn't been life lost, or no one has proven this was the root cause to accidents that have occurred. i fear for those who are not aware of this issue and that they may discover it at the wrong time. please do something to help. *tr
My ford f150 eco boost lost power suddenly while trying to enter a rural route at a stop sign.while trying to accelerate it just died for several seconds and then took off since i was pushing on the accelerator wondering what had just happened .the vehicle has been shuddering a lot on acceleration now with a substantial loss of fuel economy . i have personally had it at two ford dealership which say they can find no problem with it , but shop foreman told me and my wife we where stuck with it and to fix it by pulling the battery cable off every once in awhile. *tr
Under hard acceleration on the highway, the engine began to cut out and misfire, then the check engine light began to flash. i took the vehicle to the dealership and they said the innercooler had failed and needed to be replaced. now, at roughly 55,000 miles it has begun to do it again, i had noticed it some before, but now it is worse. i took my 2011 f150 with the ecoboost to the dealership again and they said a tsb had been written and they changed the replaced the lower air deflector. this actually made the problem worse. at wide open throttle from a stop to about 80 mph, every gear will cut out and sometimes put the engine into a protection mode beginning around 4,000 rpm. if it shakes and shudders made enough the check engine light will flash, and now it has come on and stayed on. it has been very dangerous if i pull out to make a pass and then the engine shuts down and i can no longer accelerate. this has happened dozens of times, and has been addressed twice now by the dealership without any fix. *tr
When accelerating my f150 cuts out and hesitates along with a rough idle. i have taken to local ford dealer and it shows to be a misfiring issue in 4 of 6 cylinders. ford recommended replacing a couple of parts, but it did not fix the issue. the printout given to me said it may or may not fix the issue and was under further investigation with ford engineers. the truck has been maintained on time with scheduled oil changes, etc...the truck now has 75k miles and has an extended warranty up to 125k miles. each time the truck has begun to misfire and stall out the engine light comes on and has heavy vibration until stopping and restarting the truck. the dealership replaced the spark plugs because they were all burned out which seemed to help, but continues to idle rough. it's just a matter of time before they burn out again. i spoke with someone from ford and they offered me no help other than to stay in touch with my dealership which who knows when ford will release a fix. i now pay for a truck that i bought an extended warranty for and does not run correctly. everyone that rides with me has said, "man why does your truck idle like this?" my truck stickered for $41,460. this is unacceptable to have a nice looking truck that doesn't perform up to par. *tr
2011 ford f150 fx4 eco boost road conditions - dry. external temperature - approximately 35f. highway on ramp accelerating to merge. the motor hesitated for a few seconds before kicking in, the front end felt like it was slipping while trying to accelerate as well. as the truck passed approximately 65 mph the engine lost power and began to shake violently, the check engine light came on as well. i had to keep the truck around 45 mph to avoid the shaking for about 5 minutes before it stopped and the engine light turned off. i noticed a slight burning smell and the engine didn't sound like it did prior to the incident. if someone had been behind me on the ramp, or i was passing a vehicle in poor road conditions or in busy traffic there is a strong possibility i would have been in an accident of some sort, most likely a rear end collision. *tr
After running a long highway run i was coming off an on ramp and step on the throttle to merge. the motor hesitated for few seconds before it kicked in. i was almost rear ended by the car behind me. the dealership tells me they are working on a fix. this needs to be fixed now before someone dies in an accident due to this issue. *tr
On i-70 near st. louis, i was in the inside lane and when i press the gas pedal to pass with my f-150 ecoboost, the truck lost power and had almost completely shut itself off and the check engine light came on. i had to shut it down and let it set for almost 20 minutes before it would restart correctly and check engine light would go off. by luck i had enough room to move over on the median of the highway. *tr
My 2011 ecoboost f150 would sputter, shake and chug as i do a hard acceleration entering a highway or pass a vehicle. 4 times i have had my truck for service with the last 12 months for the same exact problem. my engine light will flash several times and then it will stay on till i take the vehicle in for service. 2 times the dealer has told me the problem is a turbo cooler issue and want to charge me $200 for some cheap lick and stick plastic air deflector. the other 2 times they have said i have a bad distribution wire and plug. first was on cylinder 3 and second time on cylinder 1. every time this has happened on a hard acceleration, its been during heavy traffic and i have had to pull of the road to avoid an accident. i have to now be very cautious when accelerating as i feel this truck is an accident waiting to happen. i hope someone can get this recalled as i know there is a lot of these trucks out there with the same problem. *tr
Related to the f-150 ecoboost investigation : pe 13-018 date opened: 05/22/2013. my truck had the same intermittent stumble/misfire on acceleration described in the investigation above. i was driving on a highway early morning during a heavy rain storm. as i accelerated to pass a car the truck began to shake violently and lost all power. i was forced to cut a vehicle off to pull over and shut the truck off. i was able to restart it and bring it to the dealer who told me that nothing was wrong with it. *tr
When attempting to pass a slower moving vehicle, i moved into the left pass lane and pushed on the gas, the truck began to shudder violently, lose power, and the check engine light came on. i took it to the dealership where i bought it and they did the intercooler fix. after that the problem continued. check engine light came on, took back to dealership, they told me it was a spark plug, replaced it, on the drive home same problem, engine shudders violently, loses power, goes into limp mode, and check engine light either flashes or goes solid. i have had this problem since the day i purchased the truck new from the dealer. *tr
Repeated misfires, and loss of power when accelerating, engine lights flashes. this has happened 2 additional times since the first incident. the last 2 times i narrowly avoided accidents at highway speeds. the inter-cooler has been replaced and now they say i need plugs. i need help to fix this problem. *tr
Well i have an issue with my trucks i have purchased from ford. well in august of 2011 i purchased the new f150 with ecoboost. the truck drove like a dream for a while then i started having issue, with the transmission, then engine losing power. this happen about 4 time during the life of the truck.the last time was in january 2013, it was the last straw for me. the reprogrammed the trans/computer and put a wind deflector in the front of the intercool. still lost power on a road trip on the way back home from s carolina. mind you the truck was in the shop for tran/engine/the right fender had to be adjusted it was misaligned, the bed of the truck same thing. this lost of power almost caused me to have a accident because i was merging onto the highway. i also had to sunroof replaced as it was vibrating the whole truck when moving. the driver seat track was replaced and the sliding glass window in the back was replaced too. the defrost stopped then the window stopped sliding. i stopped driving the truck so i could get rid of it i have a 2013 limited and have some of the same issue. now that i have a new 2013 vehicle i experience some of the same issue. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated while driving various speeds there was a reduction in the engine power with an illumination of the warning indicator. the vehicle failed to accelerate over 30 mph. the failure recurred repeatedly over time. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer numerous times; however, they were unable to duplicate or remedy the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 29,000.
This is on the ecoboost f150. i was driving during a rain and had been around 70 miles. the weather was rainy. i went to pass a farm tractor on a 2 lane road and the vehicle stuttered and had no power to pass. i had to take evasive action and get back into my lane where there vehicle continued to sputter for approximately another 2 minutes. i took truck to ford and they replaced a converter and cooler. last wednesday under similar conditions, the same thing happened again on a vacation trip. oncoming traffic had to evade me as i tried to get back into my lane. it has been less than 10, 000 miles since last attempted repair was performed by dealer. obviously the repair did not work and now i am left with a vehicle with an obvious design defect that ford doesn't know how to correct. under different circumstances, this could be a serious safety issue. *tr
We were merging onto the highway outside of st. louis mo and when the accelerator was fully depressed the engine started to misfire and power was reduced. a blinking cel was displaying on the dashboard. it seemed as though the turbo system was not adding any extra charge to the ambient air. there was a pronounced vibration to the vehicle that seemed to originate from the engine/drive train. luckily there as not a lot of traffic at the time and our poor acceleration did not result in an accident. my solution was to manually select the gears and drive at much higher rpm. this smoothed the misfire and we had an adequate amount of power to keep up with traffic. after about 10 minutes everything smoothed out and the misfire was gone. truck behavior returned to normal. the weather that day was a pleasant 60 degrees and sunny. the previous day we drove from central ohio to st. louis through much rain and fog. since we were on vacation and away from home we did not take the truck to a dealer to be serviced. the problem has not occurred since then. there was one previous occurrence at a previous date. i don't know exactly when it was. we were traveling home to vt from ohio. we had been driving for many hours, mostly on highway/cruise control driving. we had just gotten off the interstate highway and were on state highway. i went to pass a slower vehicle in my lane and upon depressing the accelerator the engine seemed to misfire (rpm went up but power delivery fell flat). i stepped off the gas pedal and slowly pressed a second time and this time the truck responded as expected. there was no cel this time. each of these incidents occurred with my entire family in the vehicle. we were not very happy about it and did not feel safe at the time. *tr
Slowed down to make a turn, tried to accelerate and engine hesitated for five seconds. tried to merge into trafic and engine hesitated . this has happened many times, had to pull over on shoulder till engine picked up speed. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the vehicle shook violently and the check engine lamp illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 25,000....updated 04/25/13 *bf updated 05/21/2013 *js
Vehicle shifts hard when not under power. when under power vehicle backfires, mis fires, loses acceleration completely. have brought vehicle to deal 4 times and have been told there is nothing they can do. there is black sut on the exhaust. i do not feel safe driving in the vehicle if it cannot accelerate or will just completely shut off. *tr
The vehicle was being driven for approximately 300 miles when while attempting to pass another vehicle (accelerating from ~50 mph to ~65 mph) the engine lost all power. as the vehicle coasted back into the lane of travel power was restored to the engine. the following week the vehicle was inspected by bill brown ford in livonia, michigan. the dealer stated they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle but there was a technical service bulletin from ford for the inter-cooler. however the necessary parts were on back order for over 3 months. *tr
Rapid acceleration while passing caused engine to cut out and shudder. the second time it happened in april 2013 i had to pull over and kill the engine so the computer could reset. took vehicle to ford dealer for warranty repair, 2 months later the problem has re-occurred. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated the vehicle loss power when accelerating. the contact stated there was a long hesitation prior to the vehicle accelerating. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the turbo intercooler was replaced. the computer was also reprogrammed but failed to correct the failure. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 2,000 and the current mileage was 6,000. *tr
Dates and mileage are close but aprox. this is going on now and ford has been unable to fix the problem after being in for repair multiple times. this is a constant problem with truck now. the first occurrence i was taking off from a light and went to accelerate and truck started hesitating and check engine light came on. ford said it was intercooler and fixed that but drove truck from dealership and did not get 1/4mile down road before it hesitated again. then ford said it was coil pack and seemed to fix it but then it started right back up within a month. *tr
While driving, rear wheels lock up for a few seconds, then truck shakes and has no acceleration power. this is happening at least once weekly now with loss of power lasting from 10 to 45 seconds. not safe when in traffic. local dealer says they can't find anything wrong and that they have no tsb on it. *tr
Event occurred 3 times over a period from 27 oct 13 to 21 nov 13, decelerating while towing a trailer. speed varied all three times from a high of about 60mph, to a low of 45mph. message center would turn orange and display a wrench symbol, while the engine discontinues producing power. after pulling over, simply turning the vehicle off, then restarting, everything appears normal again. two ford dealers "found no codes", and were unable to further diagnose the issue. the second dealer attempted to collect data via an onboard computer as well, but the event wouldn't repeat while the device was installed, nor was i towing during that time. one of these events occurred on a two lane road with no shoulder available. traffic had to stop until i restarted. dangerous at best. the third even occurred going up a one lane freeway flyover. i was able to coast past the bridge structures and onto the shoulder, however, this occurred during rain, and multiple other vehicles had to make accident avoiding maneuvers, including tractor trailer rigs. very dangerous. i have replaced the vehicle. *tr
Vehicle loses power and misses at around 1500-2200 rpm's. *tr
My 2011 ford f-150 ecoboost 3.5 was idling at a red light then suddenly began a very rough idle. this went on for about twenty minutes ( on and off) then cleared up . we took the truck to the local dealership and had them look at it . they did a service order and came up with nothing wrong. we took the truck home and the problem remained. the truck was taken back 4 or 5 more times for the same problem and the dealership could never find a problem. while driving the vehicle on the highway and attempting to pass slower moving cars, the truck hesitated and sputtered when the gas pedal was depressed. a month ago the engine started making a noise after a cold start and then lately a louder noise from time to time in the passenger side front area of the valve cover. then the truck just stopped on me while on the highway . i had it towed to the dealer and now we are talking about a new engine? what the ????? it has 50k and the oil was changed regularly, but the dealer is saying there is sludge in the oil which was changed less than 2000 miles ago. the timing chain is stretched, the intake cam vtc is broken and based on all of the other similar post i've been reading about this same issue they have revealed that the rod and cam bearings are also more than likely prematurely worn, requiring a new engine to repair the damage.
The first problem was while driving on the interstate at around 70mph it felt like i was rear ended and pretty hard. i looked around and there were no cars nearby. in about 2 minutes it did it again and again the started to be intermittent. i took it to the shop the replaced coil pack and plugs and sent me on my way. i did not make it 2 miles down the road when the engine started to shudder. took truck back they kept it for weeks then said it was fixed. they had installed the shield per the tsb and again sent me on my way. within 1 mile it did it again and i waited to take it back as i needed my truck for work and they were giving me tiny suv loaner cars. this time they replaced intercooler after weeks and weeks of it sitting there. this happened approx. 12 times. during this time i sent letters about my concerns to every person on the board of directors at ford with no response. the customer service manager for ford not only avoided my calls and would not reply to me then i tried to escalate above her and reached a very arrogant jerk that blew me off. once finally getting a reply from [xxx] i got the reply i have expected. the corporate blow off! ford does not let you get past csm. this has been going on for over 7 months. i had enough so decided to try to sell this death trap and dealerships were low balling me do to the known issues. when leaving a dealership and trying to cross a rural hwy the truck lost power and i was nervously slamming the gas pedal to the floor and nothing happened. i had a dump truck coming at me blowing its air horns. the truck started to go but barely limping. this has now happened 3 more times and ford denied this has happened to other trucks and that they knew of the problem. they now will not even work on the problem period i was told they are not allowed to try to repair these trucks at all. i have a very dangerous truck. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Dozens of incidents of misfire and loss of power upon acceleration sometimes resulting in severe shaking and flashing of engine light. has nearly caused accident on 2 occasions where i was unable to maneuver through traffic. in shop 3 times, first 2 times technicians supposedly could not replicate problem (very easy to replicate if trying to do it). most recently advised that i might need a "tune-up" and oil change. 2 different service centers refuse to acknowledge a known problem despite a flood of postings on internet forums describing the exact same issue.
First, this has happened many times, i would guess at a minimum 20 times over the past year or so. the date an mileage listed are estimates about the first time this happened. what usually happens is that i am waiting at a stop light and my vehicle will shutter as if it were about to stall and will then get a small burst of power and jerk forward slightly. as i mentioned, this has happened multiple times, and i always thought that my foot had come off the brake because of the jerking forward. i recently realized this was a problem when i heard about other people having similar issues. *tr
Driving 60 mph at night in the rain climbing up a moderate slope (1-2%), towing a 6800 lbs 35ft travel trailer, and suddenly the engine check light turns on and starts flashing, vibrations from what i assume was the engine, shook the entire truck and caused my vehicle speed to drop from 60 mph to approximately 40 mph in a few seconds. turned on my hazard lights slowly pulled off to the shoulder, then in a few moment the light went off and engine everything was find. i was lucky there was no one behind me and the trailer didn't jack knife on the highway at night in the rain in traffic. this is a serious matter than needs attention and investigated and action taken against. i will be taking my truck into the dealership first thing monday morning to find out what is going on. take action before someone dies from this. *tr
The vehicle lost acceleration in a major highway and started to smoke. my wife and i were almost killed when we tried to move off the road by a tractor trailer. there was no way of controlling the vehicle with no acceleration and major vibration of the truck. i notice that many others are having problems with the ecoboost f150 engines as well. *tr
Yesterday i went to pass a truck that made an illegal turn, and had to hit the gas hard to get out of the way, only did it for about 2 seconds, than when i let off the gas, the engine kept running at high speed for about another 3 seconds? and my foot was not on the pedal at that time. *tr
Traveling at speeds above 50 when hard acceleration vehicle goes into limp mode becomes very dangerous have almost caused major pile up due to loss of power and total loss of vehicle control this vehicle and others like it are going to start killing people. all over the internet people are complaining about same problem and so far ford has not recalled these vehicles and that is very concerning. please help before many people are killed. *tr
My truck is equipped with the ecoboost 3.5l engine. twice now i have attempted to accelerate and had the truck lose power and shake violently, creating a very dangerous situation. the first time was attempting to pass another vehicle. weather conditions were warm (75 degrees f) with light rain. i pulled out to pass and attempted to accelerate when the truck suddenly acted as if the gas was shut off. it then began to shake and shudder violently as if the rear axel was being ripped from beneath it. i was able to fall back behind the vehicle i was attempting to pass, out of the way of oncoming traffic, and pull to the side of the road. after shutting off and restarting the truck, it seemed to run normal. the dealership service tech inspected the truck and stated it is a problem ford is aware of (in wet conditions), but has no fixes. the second time i was attempting to enter the interstate from a rest stop into a single lane construction zone. the weather was cool (45 degrees f), dry and sunny. i attempted to accelerate to enter the highway and the truck acted as it did on the first instance. i was forced to pull off of the lane between two large construction pylons in order to avoid being struck by a tractor/trailer. the supplied dates, mileage and speed were from the most recent incident. *tr
I had just turned onto the on ramp of the turnpike. there was heavy traffic and i needed to accelerate quickly to avoid a semi truck traveling in the right lane. as i pushed the pedal down the truck began to shake violently and lost power. the check engine light came on and i had to swerve to the emergency lane to avoid a collision. this loss of power has happened multiple times since then. at first on hard acceleration and then it became common at any level of acceleration. as of this writing the dealer has done his best to fix the problem but there seems to be a shortage of parts from the manufacturer. ford needs to step up to the plate and either buy these vehicles back or find a reliable fix. if it is water entering the engine as their initial investigation says, are they going to cover that damage if any? *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving 10 mph, the vehicle jerk and crashed into another vehicle without warning. the failure recurred several times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed but not repaired. there were no injuries reported and no medical attention was required. a police report was filed. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 30,000.
Vehicle has approximately 130,000 miles. i have had the timing chain replaced, the plugs have been changed 3 times, the ignition coils have all been changed. the is an intermittent misfire which is unexplained. ford does not have an answer for the ghosts in this machine. upon searching the timing chain issue in the f-150 ecoboost, i have found that i am not alone, however was unlucky that mine was out of warranty. i do mostly highway driving with this vehicle. most cases online are under 90,000 miles. it is absurd for a vehicle to experience these kind of issues with the highway driving. this is also the same engine that is being supplied to our law enforcement agencies in ford interceptor and explorer models. i am sure this issue would become escalated the moment an officer cannot pursue a vehicle because of misfires and bad timing. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle went into limp mode. the vehicle was moved to the shoulder and restarted. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where it was found that the turbo charger needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. the failure mileage was 45,000. *tr
On two occasions on the same date i lost power under acceleration and on the second occasion i was presented a "check engine" light. the vehicle was delivered to billy howell ford cumming, ga that same date and left with them while i was out of town for a couple of days. i had just had it in the same dealer on 8/30 complaining of missing and "backfiring", but they claimed nothing was wrong. the dealer claims to have replaced air deflector and problem has not presented itself to that extent again. however, i do experience fairly significant stalling or delay in accelerating from dead stop. *tr
Lack of acceleration - i had been driving on an interstate in heavy rain. i then stopped for gas. after stopping for gas i went through a toll booth and re-entered the interstate. the pickup would not accelerate at a normal rate. i could only go 30-40 mile per hour for the first mile or so then it returned to normal. the computer set a code. after returning home i took the truck in to the ford dealer where i purchased the vehicle. they checked the code and replaced the converter asy. *tr
I would like to add to the complaints of the eco-boost. i was going about 75 mph on interstate in alabama. floored it to pass and engine went dead. check engine light came on. coasted to shoulder of highway and it started to sputter and was able to get to gas station on exit about 200 yds away. turned off engine for about 10 min. got back on highway(with engine light off ) and was able to make it back home in east texas. took to ford dealership to get looked at. they put on some plate on the turbo cooling radiator. last month, took it up to iowa. coming back, it did it again in tulsa ok. this time engine light on all the way home. took to dealership, they said a 3 pronged cable, the prongs broke, going to one of the turbos. *tr
My 2011 f150 is equipped with the ecoboost engine and has had problems since new. during long drives when it is wet out the truck loses power, stumbles and the check engine light comes on. on one occasion i was making a pass and the problem occurred, creating a very dangerous situation due to extreme loss of power. after a minute or so it seems to re-set but the check engine light stays on and fuel economy is poor. i have had my truck back to ford at least 4 times for this issue and every time i get a different story. i think this issue effects a lot more f150's than reported since the vehicle needs to be driven a long time in wet conditions and then the problem will occur under hard acceleration. fords has told me many solutions to the problem from a bad coil, catalytic converter, intercooler, air cooler ect. ect. i get a different story every time i take it back. my big problem is my truck now has 47000 miles on it and out of warranty. *tr
Went to pass a car, lost power, had to drop back. *tr
Driving on interstate. attempted to pass slow moving vehicle. truck shuddered and lost ability to accelerate. this has happened several times. dealership has been unable to fix problem, and has just reprogrammed computer each time. they now say that it's an intercooler issue. was told part is on backorder, and would be in by end of april. have attempted to contact them re: part availability, with no response, and it's now may 23rd. this truck is dangerous, and has left me on the side of the road more than once. *tr
Truck lost all power, could not maintain speed. no throttle response. *tr
