Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan

The key fob locks the car if lightly bumped. the danger is leaving the keys in the car and closing a door which triggers the lock. this could lock one out in freezing weather or lock a child in the van when parked and closing the drivers door then trying to open the rear door to get a child out. i spoke to my office employee and similar problems with dodge key fobs happen to her and a friend.

While driving the 2010 dodge grand caravan it will just shut down. while trying to figure out the problem i found 2 recalls for electrical issues both having to do with the vehicle shutting down while driving. when i entered my vin it showed one that needed the ignition and fobs replaced. we took it to our local dealer tri-star of indiana and they say the recall was completed in june of 2016. i can't find any paperwork on this and it still shows up. even if it was done, it's obvious it needs done again because their replacement parts are defective just like the ones they replaced. i already informed them if anything happens to my family or me while driving this, they will be the first names on the law suit the dodge for not fixing the issue correctly the first time. this happens in town, on country roads, sitting at stop lights. the last time it happened my daughter was taking her kids to the doctor on tuesday 12/3/2019.

Engine shut off on 2 occasions while driving 40 mph on city road. luckily no traffic so no crash. power steering and power brakes went out as well. dealer said no open recalls. this sounds like wins recall that impacted some 2010 caravans

I recently purchased a 2010 dodge grand caravan. the car shuts off on me while driving . it will start back up after you put it in park and turn it back on but it just shuts off . it shut off on me twice on the highway with my kids in the car and four times while driving in the city.it makes this weird noise when turning left and the lights are flickering on and off. if that's not enough the doors seem to just open and close on there own the trunk shut on me while i was getting groceries out. i brought the car into the shop and they said they can't duplicate the shutting off and claimed they fixed the door opening in it's own problem .well the doors continue to open and now they are hard to open with the key and you have to manually open them . this is a safety concern and the dealer is claiming there is nothing wrong please help me.

The vehicle sliding door has locked and will not open with the key nor manually. the door is locked in position.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge grand caravan. when the key was removed from the ignition switch, the vehicle failed to shut down and the battery was disconnected. additionally, the vehicle failed to start occasionally. also, the bad key message was displayed and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the contact called kelley sales & service (74 clinton st, springfield, vt 05156, (802) 885-2186, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 172,000.

The 2010 dodge grand caravan left hand side wiring loom wears on an aluminum obtrusion beneath where it lies. this causes the wire's shielding to be worn off and causes shorting. the engine will die when the wire contacts metal or each other during travel. this problem will cause the engine to die at road speeds leaving the vehicle without steering, brakes, and other safety related equipment. i believe this to be common and undetected because the wear point is on the underside of the wiring loom near the engine. the harness is hard to lift and inspect because of the location and lack of slack at the point of the obtrusion. vibration causes the short, the vehicle will normally start after coming to a stop when there is no friction between the worn wires. i believe this should be reviewed and analyzed for a recall because of the safety issue involved as others have stated but are unaware of the cause. i have added additional wrapping to limp my vehicle home during a three hour trip. additionally, this form would not let me select steering, brakes, or other safety features when i selected electrical, which is specifically what causes the safety issues. *js

Since getting the vehicle in oct. 2018, its been in the shop for starter issues. we have replaced the starter 4 times and still doesn't want to start. the next thing we did was replace the tipm module and 2 days later still having a problem with it starting. at times it takes 1-5 minutes to start and at times it doesn't want to start at all. not sure what is wrong with it. needless to say we have paid close to $1600 on the vehicle and it still isn't fixed.

Car dies while driving will not start some times

I bought my 2010 van in 2017. march 1st 2019 my complete and brake control module has completely failed. my brake, abs, esp bad and traction sensor lights remain on my dash board, and i have no emergency braking at all. i have no idea how a complete abs braking system computer can just fail. the light came on while i was driving in traffic.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge grand caravan. while the vehicle was in a parking lot, the contact noticed smoke coming from the vehicle. the contact rolled the windows down and noticed smoke coming from the driver's side window switch panel. the contact stated that the window switch panel was melted. the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v234000 (electrical system). the failure mileage was 93,228. *dt

The engine will cut off while the vehicle is driving. it does not stall or sputter to a stop, it is an immediate cut off. the vehicle has a brand new battery, and the alternator and starter passed inspection and tested fine. when the engine stops, we attempt to start it back up but the engine doesn't turn over. it will eventually start back up after a few minutes.

Mileage: 100,000 the engine will cut out while driving. dash lights will flash, warning chime will beep, and the vehicle will rev and lurch forward before dying. this leaves the car at a coast. when the vehicle is brought to a stop, it restarts without a problem. has happened in cold and warm weather alike.. has happened while coasting, braking, and accelerating. most stalls have been while driving straight in the city. no highways stalls to date . cause: unkown; we have not been able to reproduce the event reliably, though it now occurs with some frequency (e.g. driving more than 20 min). i suspect the power control module (pcm) or the ignition switch somehow moving between on and accessory modes. available data: issues similar to this one can be found on forums, it does not seem that many have been able to resolve the problem, despite replace the computer and alternator.

Can shut off when driving i have to come to a full stop put in park and turn it back on. while this happens you lose all-powerful no brakes no starting no gas. very scary i was traveling around 45mph when it shut off this time i was completely in head on lane when i was able to steer it back. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge grand caravan. while driving, the speedometer did not display the correct speed, the fuel level indicator was inoperative, and the odometer no longer recorded the mileage. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but a failure was not found. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was 207,000.

The van started randomly shutting down/turning off/stalling (however you want to term it) while in drive and in motion. happens at any speed, any road conditions, all gas levels, and any temperature. last occurrence was 4 times in less than 10 mins. 3 separate mechanics have no idea what's wrong and since it can't be produced at will, they are unable to diagnose. it's only a matter of time before something happens and results in an accident. this has been ongoing since september 2018.

My van was repaired under a factory recall on march 21, 2016. on paper, it's called "r-03 ignition mode". prior to that the car would have trouble starting, sometimes not able to start it at all. the repair fixed it and i was issued a new key. about a year ago, it started again. this time though, it always starts after it turns over for 3-10 seconds. occasionally it won't start the first time but always starts on the second try. we have had it to a mechanic over the past year three different time, and they all think it's a problem that the dealership needs to handle. they have not been able to find the problem despite us spending over $500 replacing things they thought it might be. i have tried using the other key and the same problem happens. the problem has gotten worse over the months. at first it would only do it once in awhile. for the past six months at least, it does it every time i try to start the car.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge grand caravan. the contact received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign number: 14v234000 (electrical system). while driving at unknown speeds in the rain, water entered the vehicle and the driver's side door and vent switch caught fire. the contact extinguished the fire. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 124,367.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge grand caravan. while the vehicle was stationary, the engine independently started and the power sliding door opened simultaneously. the contact stated that the failure was intermittent and that the vehicle was not subject to a remote start. on one occasion, the contact wore the key around his neck to avoid accidentally causing the failure. the contact stated that the vehicle's handicap ramp was open as well without being prompted. prior to the failures, patterson chevrolet (1611 us-259 bus, kilgore, texas 75662, (903) 218-4651) reprogrammed the ecm and replaced the key fobiks in the vehicle. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired for the recent failures. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was approximately 19,000. the vin was not available.

The speedometer flatlines and the lights flicker indicating 'brakes, traction control, abs, battery, temp, and direction'. a warning dings and it goes on and off a few times with all the flickering. pull onto the side of the road and upon applying brakes to a full stop the car feels like it stalls and then comes back in without assistance. now the clock has reset to 12:00. turn off car and restart all clear for now. all is well until it randomly happens again. scary with kids in the car or in the winter. not cool dodge....not cool at all!

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge grand caravan. the contact stated that several warning lights became illuminated, the instrument cluster was inoperable and the windshield wipers activated independently. the contact stated that the ignition was cycled on and off several times before the vehicle operated as intended. the contact stated that the failure was more prevalent during the winter months. the vehicle was taken to (five star chevrolet buick located at 300 s boone st, aberdeen, wa 98520, phone number 360-532-0650) to be diagnosed. the contact was informed that the totally integrated power module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue and referred the contact to nhtsa to file a complaint. the approximate failure mileage was 76,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge grand caravan. while driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly shut off and the traction control warning indicator illuminated. after restarting the engine, the vehicle operated normally. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. the dealer was not notified. the failure mileage was 150,000.

I have had the battery and alternator replaced. a few days after the alternator was installed, the car would not start again. nor the next day. the mechanic kept the car for two days and could not replicate it not starting. a few days later it would not start again, and it continues to not start intermittently. all diagnostics come back fine. the left sliding door works intermittenlty and the window on the same door wouldn't close, but now does. the abs/stability light was on solid, but is now off.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge grand caravan. the contact stated that when the vehicle was stopped and turned off, the key fob could not be pulled out. also, the shifter did not click and caused the vehicle to roll forward. there was no warning. the vehicle was taken to the morlan chrysler dealer (573- 388-3331, 374 siemers dr, cape girardeau, mo 63701) where the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 9,999.

2010 dodge grand caravan. car shuts down while drive. causes to have no steering or brakes. no warning before it happens. on street moving. unknown of what is actually happening or why it is doing this. *tt *tr

Inserted & turned ignition key. got "click" sound but car did not start.

Often after starting the vehicle and in drive it will automatically shut off. i have to put in neutral and turn ignition over again to make it drive again. this happens at stop lights, city streets and expressways. the radio and air will still work but i'm just coasting with no power steering.

I have had my van switch not turn and then get stuck in the acc/on position and have had my key replaced. i am now having the same problem again and have read that the 2010 dodge grand caravan was suppose to be in the recall for the switch, but i have been told that it is not. i am having to leave my key in the switch in order to drive the van because the switch will not recognize that it is in place and turned to the on position.

When starting the vehicle about 3 months ago the van began to stall immediately after it started. today while driving the van shut off on me at a stop. tried several times to get it restarted but after a few minutes it finally started. no one was injured or damage. i began looking through recalls fir the win module and found there was already a recall for 2009 and 2010 dodge grand caravans.

When driving along the vehicle just shuts off

Few just a few of original purchase the engine started to kill for no apparent reason. it was taken to the dealer many times, they say they could not find a problem. finally there were a few recalls. problem of engine killing was solved, but then all electrical components would kill, took to dealer several times, again they no indication of an event. not till after it was out of warranty and the exist problems continued didthey say they found the problem, they said it was the timp. replaced for $1200.00, w 24 month warranty on new timp. no that new timp is acting up. kills all electrical and engine, when taken to dealer, naturally no record of events in storage unit. this happening random for no apparent reason.serious safety problem.

There is a problem with my wireless ignition node (win) that causes my van's engine to shut off randomly while it is being driven. this has happened at least 25 times over the past two years, during times of high speed, low speed, and stopped at intersections. there is zero warning and the issue does not trigger any check engine light. there is a recall related to this exact issue (r03/nhtsa 14v-373) that has already been issued for "most" 2010 dodge grand caravans, but i am told my vin does not qualify! this recall must be updated to include all 2010 dodge grand caravans as soon as possible. the repair needed to correct the problem is over $1000 and this issue poses a significant safety hazard!

When driving down the road at any speed vehicle will shut off randomly with losing power steering and brakes. have to pull over and restart it and is fine. had the r03 recall done before. safety issue is it's hard to control and brake without crashing.. it's happebing more and more. started out just maybe once or twice now it can happen 3-4x in one trip of 20 min drive

The van shuts of randomly and loses power steering and brakes. this has occurred multiple times. multiple visits to mechanic have failed to find a solution. based on online postings, this appears to be a routine problem that dodge has failed to address.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge grand caravan. while driving approximately 45 mph, the electronic control system warning indicator illuminated and the steering ability, braking, and acceleration seized. the contact coasted the vehicle to a parking lot. when the vehicle was turned off and restarted, the contact drove home. the vehicle was taken to nichols dodge in burlington, north carolina in october of 2017 for a tipm issue. the dealer kept the vehicle for approximately 30 days, but was unable to duplicate the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 118,700.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge grand caravan. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced a loss of engine power. the contact stated that all the warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to ancira volkswagen of laredo (2701 bob bullock loop, laredo, tx), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was approximately 97,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge grand caravan. while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle completely shut off. the vehicle was placed in neutral and started to reverse. there were no warning indicators illuminated before the failure. an unknown dealer location was contacted and referred the contact to the manufacturer. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that the vehicle had no recalls; therefore, he would have to pay for the repair. the failure mileage was 152,000.

The vehicle will not turn off after key has been removed. vehicle will stay running until either battery is disconnected or it runs out of gas.

My dodge grand caravan, 2010, has started cutting off on me while driving. my stabilizer light comes on, rpms drop to 0, and i lose my power steering along with low break reaction. i feel this is very unsafe. i have changed several sensors to no avail. i started doing research and found that they have safety recall l25. called my local dodge dealership to set up the repair, only to find out my van was not included in the recall, even though it is in the alotted years (2008-2010). what am i supposed to do. this could easily cause a wreck

Sometimes the car won't start unless you turn the key in twice

My wife's 2010 dodge grand caravan is experiencing the exact issue described in recall l02 and described here... https://repairpal.com/recall/11v139000 but our vin number was not included in the recall. details of the issue: when driving on various streets (more often when on neighborhood streets), the van randomly shuts off. the dashboard lights remain on. the van can be put into neutral or park and restarted without issue. it has happened about eight times in the last couple of months and a few times in dangerous situations. it happens when driving straight or turning.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge grand caravan. while making a left turn, the vehicle lost power without warning. the contact managed to pull the vehicle over to the side of the road. after a few attempts, the vehicle was able to restart and drive normally. the contact stated that the failure occurred multiple times. the dealer (lakeland chrysler jeep dodge ram, 31 hadley rd, greenville, pa 16125) stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v373000 (electrical system, air bags). the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 101,000.

The vehicle has shut down while driving about 15 times over the last 2 years. while driving, usually at slower speeds but once on the freeway and a few times at about 45 mph, the abs light comes on and then everything shuts off -- engine, power steering, brakes -- everything. it is a miracle it hasn't killed us yet. we have taken it to the dealer several times and they can not replicate it or find any code that is the problem. it is not the ignition recall as we have had that fixed. during my research i have found that this is a problem with this vehicle.

The tipm (totally integrated power module) is either defective, or damaged from weather exposure. sparatic power issues are present causing odd things to go wrong, from the battery being drained, to backlight flickering on the dash, to upon exiting the vehicle attempting to lock vehicle to only have it unlock again, to also upon locking, having the front windows randomly go down.

Vehicle is stalling out without warning. i have noticed it is a common problem with the vans from dodge and chrysler. it is dangerous to drive, it stalls in traffic at idle or when pulling into traffic. when it stalls sometimes it will activatee the esp light and set off multiple obd2 codes, orbit will stall and not set off any lights.

While driving and or coming to a stop sign or light the brake light ,the slippery road icon, speedometer jumps only no acceleration, just jumps other icon lights as well appear on dash, often it stalls at light and is difficult to restart tying up traffic on several occasions this problem has caused a stall on the highway where i can loosed control of the vehicle making it difficult to get off the highway safely,i was told that the computer shows a faulty brake light switch sensor ,i did replace it yesterday,9/29/17 with a factory duplicate but the problem still exist. i'm concerned so if you can help please let me know. After driving with vehicle in park, turn key off and engine keeps running as smooth as normal running, pull fobik key out and move it 50 ft away and vehicle keeps running.
