When this incident occurred, i was driving 20 mph in a school zone and my daughter was in the van with me. all the electrical instrumentation suddenly turned off. the van continued to move forward, but the turn signals, dash instrument panel, windows, locks, etc. all failed to work. i thought a fuse had blown or something. i pulled off the road and parked, but the van would only turn part way off. the motor stopped running, but the key indicated that the motor was still on. the key would not turn counter clockwise, or "off" past the "on" designation marked on the ignition. the key would not release/come out of the ignition. since i could not get the key out of the ignition, i tried to start the van. it would not start. my husband came out and tried to jump start it, thinking it might be a problem with the battery. this was unsuccessful. i had called a local mechanic from the car, and with his help my husband was able to get the van started. he drove it to the mechanic's shop. the mechanic looked at the "codes" and said it looked like it was under recall. he was able to get the key to release and my husband drove the van to the local dodge dealership. the dealership told him that our van was part of an ignition recall and that dodge would have the parts replaced. we have been waiting more than two weeks now, and still the dealer says the parts are not available. i am afraid to drive the van. i transport my children and children in a carpool. i cannot risk their safety, and i have no car to drive to work. the first week without the van, i borrowed a car. i was on vacation for the next week. i believed dodge would have the parts to fix my van in those two weeks. dodge has still not fixed my van. if these problems cause a wreck, will the airbags even deploy? it is appalling that dodge expects me to drive my family around in an unsafe vehicle. *tr

On multiple occasions the electronic ignition switch has failed to operate. the switch fails to start the engine and the switch will not rotate to the off position (will not turn beyond acc. position). this is a family van used for many short trips, including starts and stops. unexpectedly being unable to start the engine, and being unable to turn the vehicle off, remove the key, or lock the vehicle is a serious security issue and a hazard in some situations. a quick look at the internet shows that this is a common problem. *tr

Key fob on recall for over six months. engine will occasionally shut down while driving. key sometimes not recognized and must be reinserted to start. can not get dodge on the phone. dealers have no suggestions. *tr

While driving vehicle in a residential area at 20 mph the vehicle shut off (engine stopped running, lost power steering, lost power brakes and im guessing the air bags). immediately checked the ignition and observed the key to be securely in the "on" position (it did not move to the accessory position). was able to immediately restart vehicle. took vehicle to dodge dealership and they did not find any problem with the ignition. there were no error codes in the vehicle computer. dealership suggested removing all extra keys/key rings...so did so. approximately 2 weeks later, with only the car key securely in the ignition (no key rings, etc) again while driving in a residential area at 20 mph the vehicle shut off (engine stopped running, lost power steering, lost power brakes and im guessing the air bags) and almost ran a stop sign. immediately checked the ignition and observed the key to be securely in the "on" position (it did not move to the accessory position). this recurring issue is going to result in a death. dodge needs to address this issue immediately. *tr

Wife was driving car, was approaching a left turn off the highway into a side street and the engine turned off. she tried starting the car again with the car in park, with the key fob, and it did start again. prior to this, when starting the car in the garage, several times it would start and turn off immediately. i thought it hadn't gotten enough gas to keep going so i just started it again. it might have been the ignition switch snapping out of the start position at that time as well. *tr

On or about december 5th 2014, my wife attempted to start the above mentioned vehicle with no success. we had to have it towed from colonial beach, va to safford automotive in fredericksburg, va to be repaired. after diagnosing, the win module was found to be bad also both door modules flashed bad. win module was replaced and two new key fobs had to be issued and programmed. our cost was $906.65. this item was on the recall list but we were made to pay out of pocket. we have spoken to the dealer and the better business bureau but have not been successful. we feel it is unfair that we were made to pay for something that was recalled. this expense caused a significant hardship to our family. we hope you are able to help us get our money back. thank you in advance for your help. we are in possession of both the recall notice as well as the original receipt. *tr
