Basic HFL Operation

To reduce the potential for driver distraction, certain manual functions may be inoperable or grayed out while the vehicle is moving. Voice commands are always available.

Models with One Display

Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® allows you to place and receive phone calls using your vehicle's audio system, without handling your cell phone.

Pick-up button: Press to go directly to the Phone screen or to answer an incoming call.

Hang-up button: Press to end a call.

Talk button: Press to call a number with a stored voice tag.

Back button: Press to cancel a command.

PHONE button: Press to go directly to the Phone screen.

Selector knob: Rotate to select an item on the screen, then press it.

Models with Two Displays

Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®/Hands-Free Telephone (HFT) system allows you to place and receive phone calls using your vehicle’s audio system, without handling your mobile phone.

Pick-up button: Press to go directly to the phone menu screen, to dialing a call or to answer an incoming call. Press and hold to redial the last number dialed in the phone’s history.

Hang-up/back button: Press to end a call, or to cancel a command.

Talk button: Press to give HFL/HFT voice commands.

PHONE button: Press to go directly to the phone menu screen.

Interface dial (ENTER/MENU button): Rotate to select an item on the screen, then press .

When using the Talk button, wait for the beep before saying a command. The system recognizes .

When using the Talk button, wait for the beep before saying a command. The system recognizes only the commands in the Voice Command Index (see page 143).
  • To bypass the system prompts, simply press the Talk button again to say your command.
  • Speak in a clear, natural voice.
  • Reduce all background noise.
  • Adjust the dashboard and side vents away from the microphone in the ceiling. Fan speed may be temporarily reduced during voice recognition operation.
  • Close the windows and moonroof.
