We have classified the 779 complaints from 2010 Ford Fusion about VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL into the following categories.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact was driving 65 mph when the wrench warning symbol illumined. the contact also stated that the vehicle started decelerating and stalled. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnosis and the dealer advised that the throttle body needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired.the manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not under warranty. the failure and the current mileage was 42,000. the vin was not available.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle decelerated and would not regain acceleration. the wrench warning icon illuminated. the failure recurred intermittently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis however, the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. the contact stated that the manual indicated that the wrench illumination was related to a throttle body failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 26,400.
On take off in heavy traffic the transmission slipped and jerked hard. i was frightened and pulled over for about 20 minutes to call my dad whom is a mechanic. he stated that it was the transmission and that i should drive it home which was a hour away. i was scared that it would do it again at full speed. 2 days later as i tried to reverse out of my driveway the car revved up but didn't move then jerked into gear and i flew out the driveway very hard and jerking violently. i don't want to drive with my niece or my little 4 year old brother in case of something dangerous. i haven't experienced this ever with a vehicle. i plan to take the car in immediately! i have been driving another car for the moment. because i have to travel alot. *js
Over the last couple weeks i have noticed slight jerks or sputters when i'm driving. speed ranges anywhere from 10-70 mph when it occurs. this morning on the highway it was much more noticeable and after about 10 miles the wrench light came on and i lost all acceleration, luckily the right lane was clear and i could get to the shoulder safely. as i slowed down the engine shook heavily and i turned the car off. i waited a couple minutes and restarted the car fine...no light, no shaking. i was able to drive the 3.5 miles to work. same day, driving home i made it about 10 miles again and the same thing happened. i waited a couple minutes, restarted and made it to a shop a couple miles down the road (still could feel the jerking slightly but the light didn't come on and i didn't lose acceleration). once i got there and they hooked up the diagnostic machine they could not read any codes, which is very common from what i'm reading about other fusion owners who have this problem. they are going to drive it in the morning so they can read the code when the light comes on and hopefully determine if it is the throttle body. i am so frustrated as this car is barely 2 years old and apparently this is a very common and dangerous problem. *js
On june 19, 2012, driving at approximately 40 mph, the car does not respond to pressing gas pedal, and it slows to a stop; everything else seems to continue to work fine. turned car off, then restarted it with no issues. on july 7, 2012, again driving at about 40-45 mph, the car starts to jerk, the gas pedal doesn't work, and the car starts to slow, while jerking, and a wrench/tool symbol appears on the dashboard. i pulled over, turned the car off, then turned it back on. i made it about 1 mile (close to home) and the car loses power in the same manner, jerking and slowing, gas pedal doesn't work, and the wrench light and the engine light both come on. i was able to roll down the road into my driveway. final incident with the same issues occurred on july 9, 2012. i called ford (car was still under warranty), and they said it was the throttle body, and the throttle body was replaced. *tr
As i was driving at approximately 40 mph on a busy 4 lane highway, and my engine lost all power. it slowed to about 3 mph and would not accelerate at all, nearly causing a major crash. i had to proceed for a distance to find a place to pull off the road. i turned the car off for maybe 5 minutes then restarted the car and it seemed to be over the problem. i contacted the local dealer and was told it was the "throttle body" that was causing the problem and they did not have any on stock since they have been repairing other vehicles with this part... the problem has happened 3 more times now and because it is a safety issue i need to replace the part myself and not wait for ford. my car has now passed 36,000 miles and is not covered by warranty. *tr
While cruising between 65 - 70 mph, vehicle stuttered, then "throttle control/transmission' warning light illuminated, and vehicle lost power. accelerator pedal completely unresponsive and engine becomes erratic, but power steering and other electrical components unaffected. able to coast to side of road, where engine continues to sputter, but does not stall. changing transmission position has no effect. turning vehicle off and then back on appears to rectify the condition. two identical occurrences, but first time (06/15/12) with cruise control on, second time (07/06/12) with cruise control off. dealership unable to find source of problem. *tr
I and my children were traveling down the highway at 60 mph and i all of a sudden i could not give the car any gas. the motor was still running but i had no control over the gas. so i coasted until i could pull over. as i slowed down, the car shuttered. i turned the car off and restarted it. it ran fine for awhile. then it happened again and again (as i was entering an intersection, turning onto a major highway, and rounding a curve) until it was happening 3-4 times in a trip. i took the vehicle in to the dealership and they cleaned the throttle body. it ran ok for about 2 weeks and then became worse than it was before. i took it back to the dealership and they replaced the throttle body. so now time will tell. i was/am concerned about the fact i might not have been so lucky to be able to get off of the road and could have been in an accident. i have seen that this is a common occurrence in the 2010 ford fusion. i have contacted ford motor company as well to no avail. *tr
I was just leaving my neighborhood and just got down to the end of the road, when all of a sudden i feel this really bad shaking, had no acceleration when pressed on gas and car kept jerking until i finally had to shut it off. i did research on it immediately and found out that this is a throttle body issue that has become very relevant with my car make/model. this is very dangerous! if i was in heavy traffic or god forbid had kids in the car, this could have caused a major accident! this recall needs to be taken seriously and addressed fast!!!! *tr
Without warning the car lost all ability to accelerate. this occurred several times over the course of two days, sometimes at speeds up to 70 mph. the car jerks, wrench light comes on, and there is no power from the gas pedal. a/c and radio work fine. after navigating thru traffic without power, we turn car off and back on, and it's good to go. but for how long? could be very dangerous, recall is necessary. dealer says 2010 fusions are "notorious" for this throttle body problem and charged $502 to correct it. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving approximately 45 mph, the wrench warning symbol illuminated on continuously as the engine stalled. the contact was able to restart the vehicle. the contact stated that the same malfunction occurred in 2010 and the throttle body was replaced by the dealer. the vehicle had not been diagnosed for the most recent failure. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 89,000.
Making a left hand turn from a complete stop onto a busy avenue when the "wrench light" on the dash light up, the car started to shudder & could not accelerate, and had to pull over to the side of the road. turned car off and back on and it happened again within 1 mile. drove to the home of a friend and had him go with me to try and figure out what was wrong. car shook hard and nearly died when coming to a stop sign. after doing a google search of the problem i found it to be a very widespread problem and many times at 70 mph in heavy traffic even on new cars with as few as 1300 miles on them. this is very dangerous and only a matter of time before somebody dies. in many cases rather than losing the ability to accelerate, the opposite will happen and the car goes full throttle forward! there is an avalanche of documentation on this problem and ford refuses to do a safety recall. the nhtsa's sole reason to exist in the first place is safety and this is clearly unsafe. rest assured that if the nhtsa does not force ford to do a recall people will die. as for myself and several others i have been in contact with, we will be filing a lawsuit against ford for their negligence and the nhtsa for failing to act despite the large volume of readily accessible information regarding this very serious safety issue. *tr
Going about 75 mph with cruise on when problem occurred. the wrench light comes on and the car loses its acceleration completely. i pull over the side of the road. the engine would only turn 1000 rpm. the only way to fix it is to turn the car off and back on again. the wrench light will disappear after that and it'll start driving normally again. the problems seems to be with a bad throttle body assembly part. contacted ford about safety problem. many examples on the internet of other owners with this problem with the 2010 ford fusion. *tr
While making a turn my car lost all power. i coasted to the side of the road and had to wait a few minutes for my car to be able to start again. no error codes were posted. since then i have been having intermittent and significant power losses while driving and while idling. driving in reverse is difficult and i have to practically burn my clutch just to back up. i took my car to the dealer who said that the spark plugs had gone bad and they replaced them. the car ran smoothly for a few weeks but the power loss returned. i have not taken it back to the dealership since they have proven to be incompetent. i suspect the problem is the throttle body. *tr
When i purchased the vehicle at 43,000 miles a check fuel fill inlet warning appeared. i main tended the inlet system and the warning and check engine light would disappear. as time went on i noticed that when i would merge onto a busy highway, my car would barely move. i have come very close to death and causing others injuries because of this. i had the throttle body checked after the recall and the mechanic said that the throttle wasn't the issue. a p0456 appeared and that means a small evaporate leak. i asked the dealership if they performed a smoke test and he said no. after paying 90$ for a diagnostic fee that wasn't performed accordingly to the tab bulletin, i became very angry and frustrated with ford. every ime i switch gears or even accelerate my car jerks so hard that i hear what is my engine or transmission loudly shifting. this past week my car won't start. it takes 15-20 seconds to turn on. after someone jumped the vehicle when i was stuck at work, my check engine light disappeared, my sync and voice featured disappeared, and now i can't even charge my phone! also, the air conditioner quit working as well. i feel as though all of the cars functions are deleting themselves from the car. i do not feel safe in this vehicle and i cannot continue to work because of it. how can i pay for an expensive repair when i can't drive to make the money? i take very good care of the vehicle and do not feel financially responsible for this poorly manufactured car. they need to recall the 2010 ford fusion before someone gets hurt or even something worse. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the throttle failed with the illumination of the maintenance light. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000. *tr
I have purchased this ford fusion new from rogers ford in odessa texas. 1n 2011 as 2010 leftover car quits running at any speed or just loose all power then i must pull to side of road/median to restart car. then it may run correctly for 50 miles or 50 feet then, repeat with same problem. this started at 38,000 miles not covered under warranty. the code is p2111 throttlebody. i have myself (dealer will not install used part) replaced throttlebody 3 times (used new is not available) because when i spoke with ford motor co. and dealers they stated a mass nationwide back order and every dealer i have spoken with has no idea when part will be available. i have had several close calls by almost being hit by other cars/semis when engine power quits or when it stalls i loose power steering and brakes. i have spoke with ford motor company today 06/17/2013 1300 hrs and was told to bring to any ford dealer and i called three ford dealers and was told cant get part it is on nationwide back order. *tr
This goes on repeatedly at all speeds but usually worse when above 50 degrees outside and especially when applying slight pressure to gas pedal whether care is already moving or at stop the car engine just stops and little wrench sign comes on and you coast to stop and then have to restart. ( i have had to replace several batteries due to all this restarting) . also this seems to be triggered or aggravated when you hit slight bump in road. this occurs the least number of times on days when we leave in driveway. we don't take care on highway anymore for obvious safety reasons. for example driving around town in atlanta today it does this and stops between 20 and 40 times per hour. no one has been able to explain over the past year this has been going on. this is aggravating since sometimes it will happen in middle of intersections. ford of course is clueless and not helpful having suggested that perhaps it was bad gas or caused by using off air conditioning too much since this is atlanta. of course it is neither since we have tried multiple gas stations and it happens when ac is not on.. i think henry ford had the engineering better on the model t but we own it now and we are now stuck with it. no more american cars for this former michigan resident. loyalty to detroit is not mutual. *tr
2010 ford fusion car stalled and engine shut off in heavy traffic 2 mths ago. had to pull over. cranked it was fine. days later, engine begins to crank every few days, slow at first but will start. been going on since. 3 wks today, car powers down while driving 65 mph this morning on main int. hwy.the wrench light came on dashboard. car would not accelerate when i pressed the gas peddle. had to "coast" to er lane. car was running, but could not accelerate at all. when stopped, turned car off. recranked engine. wrench light went off, and drove to work fine. took to dealer today. while explaining the issue, an employee overheard and said "do you drive a fusion?" i said yes, he said its your throttle body. he says this without even looking at the car! confirmed it was throttle body part after inspection. part was not in stock. told i could drive car home. they would call when part comes in. dealer called this evening and said my manf. warranty was past time, and additional warranty tech would not cover throttle body part. part expense $261 plus taxes and 30 minutes labor time to install. i'm disturbed to know ford is aware and others are having this problem and i am extremely scared to drive this car knowing it stalled at 65 miles an hour!!! someone needs to pull these cars off the road and make the repairs to these vehicles. i have never owned an american made car. this is my first one. some first impression. i will be trading this car as soon as i can. i am just so disappointed in ford claiming the "built ford tough" motto. this isn't tough, its dangerous! i've never owned a car where being less than 2yrs old, a part already has to be replaced? seriously?? ford should pay attention to their complaints. how many complaints does it take to get a recall??????????? mine makes number 320........ a recall should be after 2 people are claiming the same thing. *js
Was going up a small hill about 30 miles an hour when the car started to lose power. even with hitting the gas all i got was a jerk forward. i made it up the hill lurching forward all the way and got home (only a block). research on the internet indicates this is a known problem with this car that really never gets fixed. what can i do? here are some links to the search sites: http://www.arfc.org/complaints/2010/ford/fusion/ http://forums.automobilemag.com/70/7761889/ford/2010-ford-fusion-transmission/page18.html#ixzz1tlq3uk95. *tr
The first time, the car was pulling on to a main road going up to 15 mph while turning right. the car began to shudder, stall (only able to coast to a stop), many warning lights including the wrench light came on and dinged. after shutting the key off and waiting up to a couple of minutes, engine started fine and drove normally. 1 month later, this exact scenario happened again while turning right from a complete stop. 1 month later, it happened again but with only the yellow wrench light coming on (the car was curving to the right at about 40 mph). 2 days later the car did the same thing at about 35 mph. this time the car would start up, and be fine until we accelerated. we narrowly avoided an accident when the car did the same thing a second time. it then did it a third time and we waited to start the car. we were then able to drive the car home normally with a code alert on the dash. i took the car to get a diagnosis and they showed code p2111. *tr
My 2010 fusion has a defective throttle body. i have contacted ford about this issue and i get the answer that its my problem not theirs. i have been waiting for a part to fix this that has been on back order since april but of course this will be at my expense. i see that this problem is effecting hundreds of other 2010 fusions and would like to know why this would not reach recall status? it also will accelerate on its own which in its self is a major safety concern. *tr
I was driving in busy traffic area when my throttle body caused issues on my 2010 ford fusion. i managed to get out of the flow of traffic. my car has only 47,700 miles on it. i have learned other ford fusion owners have experienced the same problem. i managed to get my car home (3 miles away). my son reset the computer, and i drove the car again the following day, and it happened again on the interstate. driving 65 mph in heavy traffic, it happened -- the speed dropped down to 20 mph. i could not go any faster. it was 2 miles until i could get off the next exit ramp. i drove on the shoulder part of the way but there were two cars on the shoulder with other issues that i had to drive around. it was frightening and potentially hazardous. i did not know what the problem was. i did not know if the car was going to die at any time or not. it was dark and late on a sunday. i felt vulnerable. i have read on the internet that other 2010 fusion owners have experienced similar problems - hazardous situations and having to pay for repairs when the car doesn't have high mileage like mine. some are covered under warranty (under 36,000) and some just barely over the 36,000 miles so they were not covered under their warranty. the cost of the repair was just barely under $470. for some reason it wasn't covered under my esp extracare warranty, and i don't get that either. please consider a recall on this part for others who might experience an serious accident as a result. *js
I drive approximately 30 miles on the highway to get to work. the day this problem first occurred, i got off the highway and came to a stop sign. i checked for traffic both directions. a car was coming from the left, and i was turning right. i knew with my car's acceleration i had plenty of space to pull out safely (it has a v6 engine, automatic transmission). i hit the gas and pulled out. the car did not accelerate as expected. i barely hit 5 mph and the tachometer redlined. i took my foot off the gas pedal and tried again. same thing - redlined. the third time i tried, the car shuddered and finally shifted to the next gear. the car behind me was far enough away to slow down safely, but in a different situation they could have easily hit me. i just rolled out in front of them because the car didn't respond when i hit the gas. immediately after that incident, i scheduled a service appointment at a ford dealership. the first available appointment was two weeks out. i booked the appointment and continued to (cautiously) drive my car to work. the car ran rough even at constant highway speeds. last night i dropped my car off at the dealership for the service appointment. i took the highway to get there. when i tried to accelerate to merge onto the highway, the problem occurred again. i rolled out into traffic at about 5 mph, hitting the gas pedal and getting nothing. again, i was lucky that there was enough room between me and the approaching traffic. this problem could have easily caused a bad accident. my car is currently at the ford dealership. i'm waiting for them to call back with a diagnosis. *tt
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, there was a complete loss of the engine power and the vehicle stalled. the contact was able to maneuver to the side of the road, where the engine was turned off and then restarted. the vehicle resumed as normal. the failure occurred five times. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on three different occasions for diagnosis. the third time a trouble code was detected and the throttle body was replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 43,000.
The throttle body assembly failed after 70,000 miles. the vehicle would stall at speed, have to be pulled over, stopped, engine turned off and completely restarted. the vehicle had multiple incidences of this nature, and i have been told the problem is a common problem with this year/make/model, that being the throttle body assembly which required replacement. *tr
When driving the vehicle it will seemingly randomly bring the engine down to idle or stall the car completely and send a p2111 or p2112 error code (throttle body stuck open/close, respectively) and the car needs to be completely shut off in order to bring the car back into a normal running state. resetting the car does not guarantee that the issue will go away, and about 40-50% of the time the car stalls again right after attempting to re-enter traffic. this issue will commonly happen when making turns, although it is not limited to that situation. *tr
It is the typical throttle body issue everyone else is complaining about. it would randomly stall completely out on the main road. occasionally, i could turn off the car and then turn it back on and it would drive me a few more miles before stalling out again. car would randomly accelerate while applying the brakes. car would violently "jump" like it was missing gears while accelerating. almost impossible to accelerate speed without putting my foot to the floor. i bought a new throttle body for about $400 i think in september 2012 and within a year it was already doing the same things mentioned above. i just received an extended warranty from ford in the mail and will get a refund for my previous expense on a new throttle body. it pretty much seems like a recall but without actually saying it is. i don't know if there is any further action that can be taken but if so then please do. this is a dangerous car with a short shelf life. i almost got blasted from my side twice because i would be turning off a 4 lane route with plenty of distance from oncoming traffic and the car would stall. i was basically a sitting duck sideways hoping it would roll me fast enough to get out of the way. i hope this helps. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled and the throttle control warning lamp illuminated. the contact mentioned that the failure recurred several times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the throttle was defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 48,000.
I was driving about 70mph when i realized, the gas pedal wasn't working. there was no acceleration then the car starting knocking like it was out of gas so i coasted over to the side of the road. i turned the car off, waited about 5 mins and tried to start the car. it started up fine and drove fine the rest of the way home. a few days later, i was turning at a light and it the acceleration stopped again. fortunately, there was a median for turn lanes that i coated in to. otherwise, this could have been an accident. i took the car in to ford, they replaced the throttle body and motor assembly. it took several days because i was told that the part was on back order and that ford had changed manufacturers. this made me wonder why was the part on back order - it seemed like such an odd thing to happen on a fairly new car and why would ford have changed manufacturers. i googled my year and model and discussed this same thing has happened to a lot of people. my son started driving a couple of months ago and thank goodness this happened with me in the car and not an inexperienced driver. with the car suddenly dying and no gas, this presents with a very dangerous situation depending on the road and traffic you may be in. i think ford needs to recall this and make repairs before someone is injured or killed. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the failure caused the vehicle that was following the contact's vehicle to abruptly turn to avoid crashing into the contact however, the second vehicle became involved in a crash as a result. the contact's vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where a diagnostic was performed, which located the failure at the throttle body actuator control system. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure recurred one year later but the dealer was unable to duplicate or diagnose the failure. the failure mileage was 60,000, and the current mileage was 75,500.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle began to jerk, shake and decelerate abnormally. the contact shut off the vehicle and after restarting, was able to drive without a failure. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. the approximate failure mileage was 28,000. updated 02/15/12*lj the vehicle was taken to the dealer on dec 28th and was returned to the consumer the next day. the dealer was unable to diagnose the problem. the second time the incident occurred. the dealer was able to pull up code from the vehicle's computer, which stated the throttle body needed to be replaced, along with a new battery. updated 02/29/12
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle decelerated abnormally. the contact stopped the vehicle and shifted into park as the vehicle began to shake vigorously and stalled. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics and stalled a second time on while in route. the technician was unable to diagnose the failure because the computer was not providing a failure code. the failure recurred three times. the third time, the vehicle was towed to the dealer and the technician advised that the computer was not reading a failure code but the electronic throttle body would likely have to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 43,000. updated 03/02/12*lj the consumer stated the rear window, weather stripping on the doors, and door handles had to be replaced. the consumer stated there have been numerous problems with the transmission. updated 03/08/12
The vehicle lost power, the gas pedal had no effect, and it would surge forward by itself. created a very scary and unsafe situation for my wife. i went to the gas station where she had managed to get pulled into and shut it off, i looked it over and restarted it. it seemed to have power and throttle response, so i attempted to drive it on home since it was within a mile. it again failed on me within 100 yards but i was able to limp it on home. the dealership towed it into service and they thought the throttle body was bad...so they replaced it and now it is working. they said this is happening to a lot of throttle bodies! i am not sure why there isn't a recall or more investigations happening here. this was totally unexpected from a vehicle with only 11k miles on it. *tr
Car had a faulty throttle body, which would cause the car to lose power. you could be running any speed and the car would jerk and you would have no power car would coast to the side of the road. very dangerous on the interstate or any heavy traffic. the dealer knew exactly what the problem was when i described it to him, which led me to believe they have seen this problem many times. checked online and saw where many others had the same problem. ford told me it was my problem and were sorry it had happened but there was nothing they could do. case #[xxx]. this is a very dangerous problem if the vehicle is in traffic.ford has had a recall on the transmission which was due to holes being drilled wrong on the throttle body. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).*tr
When driving the vehicle the throttle body fails putting the car into "limp mode". acceleration is impossible and the car will stall while attempting to safely pull off the road. after a single search online for "ford fusion throttle body" numerous instances of similar failures appear beginning in approximately 2005. the vehicle will lose all ability to accelerate but maintain electrical power until the vehicle stalls. this occurred to me while traveling on the highway at 75 mph and is extremely unsafe. the problem is so widespread that the local ford dealers maintain a stock of throttle body units to replace. the risk of an accident very high because of the possibility of stalling out and losing control of the vehicle. *kb
While driving down the interstate in rush hour traffic, my 2010 fusion (35,265 mi) lost acceleration. jerked car into the median and put into park, it immediately began idling very rough and almost sputtering to cut off. the wrench light displayed. i cut the car off and let it sit for a moment and then cut the car back on. i pressed the gas and the cars rpm shot up to over 5000 rpm. it then idled normally and i merged back in traffic just hoping to get it to my office. i made it another 2-3 miles and it did it again, this time both the engine light and wrench lit up. i immediately cut it off, restarted it and it seemed fine. i decided to get off at the exit i was close too and park the car as i knew i was going to cause a major accident if i did not get it off the road. i came to the top of the exit ramp and sat in traffic for a few minutes, the car seemed okay, no rough idle nothing strange except the engine light was still displayed. i merged into traffic off the ramp and in the middle of the road same thing occurred, no acceleration, i had my foot to the floor. i got it into a parking lot and called the dealership. i had the car towed in got a loaner to drive into work. the ford dealership called about an hour later and said the car is fixed and i can come get it. they said their was an issue in my electronic throttle body and they have replaced the throttle body. i love this car but at 35,000 miles i should not have already had a bad battery and now this issue. i am starting to not trust the car. i hope the issue is fixed, but i am almost scared to go pick it up tonight. i had no idea of these issues until i looked it up online after the this morning. *kb
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate. the check engine warning light and the electronic throttle body control warning light became illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for an inspection, who installed a new relay for the fuel pump and located a failure with the catalytic assembly. the failure was not reported to the manufacturer. the failure mileage was 15,000. the current mileage was 29,000. updated 08/06/13*lj updated 08/06/2013 *js
On october 1, 2011, while pulling into a parking space, going less than a few miles an hour and applying the brake , the car suddenly lurched forward and accelerated on its on - jumped the curb and crashed through the window of a business. *tr
While traveling 45 mph lost acceleration and coasted to side of the road. wrench or service light came on. shut car off and waited about 30 seconds and restarted car and service light went off and car operated normally. took the car to nearest dealer and they said they couldn't pull up any diagnostic codes and for me to wait for the problem to occur again and bring it back. car only has 37000 miles and after doing some research i have found multiple complaints about the very same issue with other fusion owners. all the cars that have been repaired had to replace the throttle body. *tr

There was a recall on the 2010 ford fusion transmissions. i took the car in on 12/31/10 to automax ford, killeen, tx. they told me that nothing was wrong with it and it is fine. on 3 august 2011 my car felt like it did a downshift while going down the highway. at this point my accelerator fails to work. the car is not in any gear and even when i give the car gas the engine will not rev. i then have to come to a complete stop and put the car in park. while in park the car idles really heavy like and stuttters to keep going so i have to turn the car off. when i turn the car back on it will turn over about 6 or 7 times before it starts. i have to do this process every time the car does this which has been about 6 times in the past two days. the incident happens on the highway and in regular city driving. i believe automax ford has failed to do the inspection right and now the recall letter is expired as of april 2011. i was also deployed overseas during that time period of expiration. *tr

while going 70 mph on the highway i experienced the same issues. my car stalled out shut off the cruise control and started shaking uncontrollable. i shut off the car and waited about five minutes and started it back up drove maybe another ten miles and it started again. on the following day i took it to the dealership where i purchased it from and they made it seem as if i had no ideal of what i was talking about. once they realized i knew that it was the throttle body assembly that was the problem i was told that this was not a part that was covered under warranty so i would have to pay for it out of pocket. i took the time to talk to several reps at ford and i was told that if the mechanic did not think it was defective then there was nothing they could do. i talked to the mechanic at the dealership and they told me that it just stopped working. so i ended up paying $479.05 for a new throttle body assembly and having to be without my car for a total of four day. only to get it back with a cracked windshield, but that is a different issue. *tr
I was driving on the freeway 101. i accelerated to change lanes and the gas pedal stuck in that position. i put on the brakes to slow me down as soon as i took my foot off the brake the car started to speed again, i braked again and exited the freeway and pulled to the side of road, put it in neutral and turned of the engine. when i looked at the gas pedal, the rubber mat had stuck on top of the accelerator. i called my ford dealer today they had no knowledge of this problem, however i noted on the web today you had issued a warning about this problem in june of 2010, we bought our car in oct. 2010, and i guess ford didn't tell dealers not to put this all weather mat on top of an existing mat, as per their printed instructions on the mat itself.
Pushed accelerator with no response above idle. *tr
