We have classified the 779 complaints from 2010 Ford Fusion about VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL into the following categories.
I was driving my car and had gone approx 1-1/2 - 2 miles down the road and the car was driving fine then all of a sudden my car started to hesitate and would barely move. i pulled over on a side road and turned my car off and restarted it sounded fine i turned around and pulled onto main road again and again the car started puttering and would barely move i managed to get car off the road. i had it towed to tasca ford where they said the throttle body needed to be replaced. it has been a week now and i still don't have my car and they can't tell me when the new part will come in because it is being manufactured? they are also stating they have 18 - 20 cars waiting for this same part. *tr
Three times, the car hesitated and nearly stalled, then would not accelerate normally. it was stopped and restarted and was able to be driven home but traffic was disrupted on a major thoroughfare and very scary. when we took it to the dealer, they said it was a throttle body problem and was unsafe to be driven home. unfortunately parts are back ordered and we are without a vehicle because they said it is unsafe to drive, as is. *tr
First incident was vehicle stalled while entering a intersection from a stop sign. stalled half way into intersection and had a near miss of being hit do to loss of power and other traffic not having to stop in their direction. car was dieseling when it came to a stop ,had to be shut off, then restarted with no problems or indicator lights afterward. this same stalling has happened at highway speeds of 60 mph + and on side roads at 30 mph. from stops to full power going up hills or trying to pass another car. no power to move car exist once it has happened ,you must come to a complete stop , shut completely off and then restart. this has happened at least a dozen times over last few weeks.took to dealer today and was told throttle body is showing a fault and parts can only be received by overnight delivery "as this part is in very high demand and they can't order one in and get it by regular delivery". *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the check engine warning lamp and the wrench warning icon were illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body sensor was defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 44,000 and the current mileage was 44,300.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact merged to the shoulder and was able to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was diagnosed that the electronic throttle body needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 115,000 and the current mileage was 121,000. the vin was not available.
Lost power while driving on freeway. engine would only idle, very rough. wrench symbol lit. shut car off, opened/closed door and car was ok until next incident. failure occurred several more times while driving home on freeway and at slower speed. diagnostic at the dealer was a throttle body failure. *tr

Faulty throttle body has caused several engine stall events on and off highway. car in shop awaiting replacement part. ford service acknowledged that this is a well known defect without a recall yet announced. they advised not driving the car again until part is replaced as that would be "very dangerous." why would this not be a recall yet? *tr
During morning rush hour traffic, my 2010 ford fusion began to lose acceleration and shake violently while i was traveling at approximately 65 miles per hour. fortunately, i was already in the far right travel lane so i could put on my flashers and pull off the road. i cut the engine and waited for a few minutes. i restarted the car and was able to get to my workplace. based upon my preliminary research, this appears to be a widespread problem that has serious safety implications. i strongly encourage investigation and study of this issue with ford to institute a recall to resolve such issues. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that the vehicle lost power and stalled. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer where it was determined that the throttle body needed to be replaced however, the part needed to correct the failure was on back order. the failure and the current mileages were 77,063. *tr
While resuming travel after stopping at a stoplight the engine would not allow me to continue to accelerate. as there was a line of traffic behind me, i quickly turned on my 4-way flashers and coasted to the side of the road. after shutting off the ignition and waiting for a few minutes, i tried restarting the car. the engine restarted normally and i was able to proceed with full throttle functionally. this same problem happened to me three more times since the first incident. i have read on the internet that several people are experiencing this problem and that ford is not issuing a recall to fix this problem. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle surged and stalled with the illumination of the check engine light. the failure recurred on several occasions. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis where it was stated that the throttle body needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 58,000.
Driving car approx. 50 to 60 miles an hour, engine just stops, no accelerator pedal pressure. wrench light comes on(ford owners manual shows it to be throttle body/drive-train). this has happened several times previous to yesterday's occurrence. we brought the car from drivetime and took it to their mechanic and he said he could not find a stored code, was i do not believe to be true. after searching online concerning some incident, we noticed that owners of the same model car have had the same problem. very dangerous while traveling and the car just quits. apparently ford knows about because a car a local dealer and the parts department has parts on back order. yesterday, 7/10 the check engine light came on and the code was p2112(throttle body stuck closed). something needs to be done about this problem. thanks for your time. *tr
Driving along on a local road (35 mph) the car suddenly lost most of it's power and started shaking. i was able to coast to a gas station and get a tow to my dealership...they tell me it's the throttle control and will cost about $500. going online to find out more information about this i see there are several thousand complaints about the same issue in this model. the severity of this type of breakdown (some people were on the highway) and with no warning whatsoever makes this a very important issue to be dealt with. i was lucky, but am still out $500. *tr
Car was running but would not accelerate after a stop. gas pedal was inoperative. electronic throttle body. *tr
While driving my 2010 ford fusion at around 25 mph, the vehicle stalled while in motion and i could not accelerate. the wrench warning light also came on. luckily, i managed to get my vehicle safely to the side of the road, and when i placed it in park, the car started to shudder. i turned the car off, and when i re-started it, the warning light was gone and the car was operating normally. i am very lucky that the stall did not occur on the highway at a faster speed. a co-worker of mine also has a 2010 ford fusion and had this same issue a few months ago. *tr
As i was driving the car the engine lost power and the check engine light and wrench light came on this happened at least 10 times in a 24 mile drive (to and from work) auto zone says it is the throttle body sticking. i went to carcomplaints.com and my car is not the only 2010 fusion experiencing this issue i feel ford needs to recall these vehicles and fix the throttle body before someone gets killed. *tr
Driving down highway at 70 mph, wrench light came out, car died down to 900 rpm and fluctuated erratically with no gas pedal response at all. dodged several cars trying to avoid rear end collision to pull off side of road to turn off and turn car back on, problem then went away and happened again roughly 20 miles again down the highway. car will not drive past 20 miles without having an issue. *tr
The car began to stall on the freeway, so i had to drive it off the freeway after it had turned off twice. the first time, it went off in the middle of the freeway as i luckily veered to the side and no one was hurt. i took it to be serviced. it turns out there was a faulty throttle control: the throttle actuator was stuck closed (p2111), and also would get stuck open (p2112). this must have happened while i was on the freeway. the auto service center ran the tests and tested my vehicle after replacing that throttle assembly and now my car runs back to normal. also, my rear parking aid back up tone is out of order. sometimes it just beeps constantly and there is nothing behind the vehicle. it seems to be working in order, but once in a while it does that. *tr
This has happened on multiple occasions. while driving down the road going approx 45 mph. suddenly the vehicle would lose throttle response and/or stall all together. on at least two occasions i have almost been rear-ended once almost by a semi-truck. i have done my research on the symptoms concerning my vehicle, and have found out that this is due to a failing throttle body. i have also found out that this has happened on quite a lot of ford fusions built at least between 2006 and 2011. i am quite surprised that ford has not issued a recall on these vehicles' parts, this is definitely a safety issue. *jb
I was driving along an expressway at 55 miles an hour when the car suddenly slowed down and would not accelerate upon stepping on the gas pedal. i had to pull over and turn the car off. when i turned it back on, it ran fine but the wrench light came on and then went off. the next day, the same thing happened on an expressway. i took it to a local garage but no lights were on and it did not repeat the problem. a few weeks later, driving on a street road at 35 mph, the same thing happened. it occurred again a few minutes later on a highway at 55 mph. this time the check engine light came on and stayed on. i went to my local garage the next day and they put the computer on the car and found the problem was the throttle activator. i have just left a message with the dealer today and am waiting to hear back if they will fix it even though the car is no longer under warranty. i am very concerned about driving the car as my daily drive to work is on expressways with limited access to a shoulder to park on. *tr
Traveling down the road at 60 mph on a major highway and the car stalls....this has been repeatedly happening in the last two months. at least 6 times in july and so far 4 times in august. what has to happen for ford to do a[xxx] recall on this part (throttle body and circuit board) that is causing this, a death???? i pray its not mine! we just bought this car from widricks auto sales in watertown new york in march of this year and this is whats happening....i will not drive the car until it is fixed because whether ford cares or not it is an accident waiting to happen!!!! i am so frustrated that a company this big doesnt give a[xxx] about people that buy their products enough to do a recall on this part and replace it for nothingwhen ford knows about the problem!!!!!! ...seriously what is the difference between one complaint and a thousand???? what about the lives of drivers and passengers of vehicles that ford know have this problem??? can you say law suit ford people\ information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Driving on highway to vacation, after 1 hour my car began to shake and slow down. car did not respond to gas pedal and continued to decelerate on one lane highway. due to no pull off area had to continue on hwy with possibility of crash imminent. cel light came on and wrench light came on. pulled off hwy and at stop car shake and stalled. after a few minutes restarted car and continued trip. car repeated sequence of events 3 more times before reaching destination. on return home next day car repeated sequence. car remained off for 15 mins during which time i pressed the reset button. car restarted and did not stall and returned home. next day i took car into dealer. my car stalled 3 times on the highway on trip to dealer. after throttle body was replaced, had incident with engine racing to 6 rpms. *tr
Engine wrench light comes on, car will not maintain speed, engine drops to rough idle, accelerator is unresponsive. car must be stopped, with trans mission in park, turned off and restarted. it has done this 9 times in the last day and a half ... once while turning across traffic. this puts my life and passenger's lives at jeopardy. *tr
I was driving 70 mph on a 4 lane interstate, as far away from the shoulder as i could get...suddenly the car lost all acceleration. i had to make my way over the 4 lanes to pull over. put the car in park, restarted and drove for another 45 minutes and it happened again. since this first time, it has now occurred with no warning, no pattern at least 10 times - one time i was going across multiple lanes of on-coming traffic and cars going 50+ mph had to stop to avoid t-boning me. took my car into mechanic, they say its the throttle actuator control and that it will be more than a month wait for repair because ford can't keep up with the demand for this faulty part. there should be a recall for this very dangerous defect that ford is well aware of. in researching my cars issue online i am stunned to see so many others experiencing this same issue. what does it take to get someone to realize this is a major issue that needs attention??? does someone have to die? really? i just purchased this vehicle approx 6 mo's ago with just under 60,000 miles. ridiculous that it's now needing this repair. i can't drive this car for over a month now, due to ford's inability to keep up. i have 2 small children that can't ride in the vehicle due to the extreme hazard of this vehicle stopping at any time/speed. so unbelievably dangerous and unacceptable. *tr
While driving at 45mph lost throttle control. gas pedal had no response. was able to coast to side of highway. the "wrench light" came on the instrument panel. i restarted the vehicle and the throttle was responsive, dove approx 1/4 mile and the same situation occurred; however, this time the check engine and wrench lights were illuminated. turned vehicle off and on and warning lights reset and i had throttle control. drove approx 1000 feet and lost throttle control again; however, this time i was making a turn through an intersection. i was able to coast through the intersection and off the highway onto the shoulder of the road. the check engine and throttle control/transmission(wrench) lights were illuminated. at this point i had the vehicle towed to the dealer. *tr
Earlier this month, i started my car [ford fusion 2010 se] after having it parked [never having this situation before] my car started vibrating after i turned the car on and barely driving it. i placed the car in park and popped my hood and looked at the engine, the entire thing was vibrating so i turned the car off for a few minutes and restarted, the problem was then gone and i thought hmm.. maybe its just a minor issue. this same thing happened again a few days after and then a few times within the same week up until now. so i'll be driving and the car would just slow down and my engine would be vibrating. i took my car to the shop [barely making it there] i went to "broad & james auto care located at 3288 e broad st columbus, oh 43213" after having a diagnostics done i was advised that i had a throttle body failure and they contacted ford krieger in columbus oh and was advised that the parts are on back order and that there are no specific date of receipt. upon research i've found out that this is an ongoing issue for this vehicle. now my car can't be driven at all. *tr
Car engine unexpectedly jerked and rpms locked at 1000 no matter what was done with gas pedal. did not recover until turned off and then on. repeated over the next several days. also engine would stall when trying to idle. resolution was replacement of faulty throttle body assembly. *tr
The car suddenly lost power and we lost speed and had to pull over. we turned the car off, turned the car back on and was able to drive home. *tr
While driving in heavy traffic the car suddenly lost power, i pulled the car over to get out of the traffic. i came to a stop turned the engine off let it sit for approximately 10 minutes. i restarted the engine it seemed fine, i attempted to return home but experienced the same problem twice on my way home. i called the dealer to bring the car in regarding the problem. i described the problem to the service advisor, he seemed to know immediately what is causing the problem. $575.00 later i'm back on the road. less than 4,000 out of warranty and this happens, it seems a common occurrence with other fusions. *tr
While driving down the highway at 70mph, the car experienced a sudden loss in power followed by fluxuating rpm and no throttle control. had vehicle towed to dealership and problem was diagnosed as a faulty throttle body. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled and the wrench warning icon illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 53,000 and the current mileage was 53,600. *tr
I was making a turn into a mall when my car's accelerator quit working. i let off and pressed the accelerator and still nothing. i had to coast over to the side of the road and turn my car off. i left it off for a minute and restarted. it worked fine after the restart. a few miles later i had the same problem on the interstate at 60 mph. i did the same procedure as before and again, my car ran fine. a few minutes later i was pulling into a church parking lot and the same thing happened again. i decided to just go back home before i had serious problems at night. a few miles further the same thing happened while trying to accelerate after stopping at a traffic light. i had a parts store hook up a diagnostics machine and got a "throttle actuator control system stuck open" code. i began to google this and found that there have been multiple complaints about fords doing this, yet ford has not issued a recall. needless to say, i am a bit furious that they would know there is a potentially deadly problem with their vehicles and they won't issue a recall to fix this. *tr
While driving on a crowded highway the vehicle lost all ability to accelerate or maintain speed. wrench light was illuminated, car did not stall. once brought to the dealership no code was available. *tr
Vehicles unexpectedly goes into "limp home mode" at reduced power. vehicle was taken to dealer on july 17, 2013 after repeated incidents. owner was told by dealer that the throttle control must be replaced. the dealer will order the new throttle control which is on national backorder and should arrive in 1-2 weeks. even though there have been numerous complaints and news articles about this common problem in the 2010 ford fusion, the owner was quoted that the cost to replace the throttle control would be $368 as ford has yet to take responsibility for this obvious safety problem with the vehicle. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled. the contact mentioned that the wrench and check engine warning lamps were illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the throttle body was defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 66,000 and the current mileage was 68,000.
Driving down the interstate and lost power, as if pedal was not connected to engine. the tachometer fell to idle rpm and wrench light came on. proceeded to glide off to the shoulder where, when stopped, the engine began to shake and shudder. i turned off then restarted my car which took 4 seconds of the engine turning over. started up and all seemed okay but as i went to get back on the interstate it stalled again. proceeded to turn off and on again with no problems. very lucky i was not in traffic on the interstate or could have been in an accident. *tr
I was stopped at a light when trying to accelerate through the intersection the car acted like it was getting no gas. it was a rainy day and i assumed the undercarriage had gotten it wet. i stuttered through the intersection and was able to pull the car over and stop the car. after sitting for 5 minutes i was able to restart the car and get off the road into a parking lot. i then let it sit for an hour and was able to make it home the 10 miles without incident. i drove the car for 2 more days without incident, then on 7-5-2013 during a 30 mile trip it did the same thing. stopped at a light and suddenly the car acted like it could get no gas. we parked it for an hour and made it home. the following day when trying to take it to the dealer, car would speed up and slow down on a sidestreet! was a scary 2 mile drive to the dealership. after 9 hours they figured out it was the "throttle arm". after the diagnosis i find that this is a common issue with my 3 year old car. i bought the car new, and having to spend $427 to get this fixed is ridiculous. there should be a recall on this part. *tr
I was driving down the freeway in the middle lane at 65 miles an hours and my car started jerking and seemed to have no power, i was at a place where 2 highways were coming together which caused getting the vehicle off the road difficult! i was able to get inbetween the 2 highways and stop the car, i put it in park and turned the key off and waited a few minutes then started the car and it seemed to run fine. the it happened again to me while driving on a sunday at 35 miles an hour again stopped on the side of the road and turned it off and then on again. called the dealer on monday to get it into the shop had an appointment on tuesday morning to take it in, on my way home from work at 5:00 pm it started jerking and i ended up having to stop the car in the middle of the intersection and turn it off an on again. thank god i was not hit in either incidence!! i have been told that it is my throttle body and that this part is on national back order which tells me this is a major problem. i am being told they do not know how long it will be before this part is available and i am having to get a rent a car in the mean time. my new car warranty ended in time april 2013 and i am 3000 miles over the 30,000. i think this is just wrong to have this kind of problem with a newer vehicle!! *tr
Driving down highway alternating in and out of traffic. at one point the traffic opens. i step on the gas and nothing happens. the car sputters and nearly stalls. i'm able to coast it into the breakdown lane, where it sits and sputters. i shut the car off, restarted it, and it seems to be fine. i drive to a restaurant and have dinner. the car sits for an hour. i get back in and the car drives for a few minutes, then stutters, nearly stalls, and limps along again. i restart the car again, and again it's fine. my wife has also indicated engine racing in first gear. internet research indicates this is a very common issue with ford's throttle bodies of this model / timeframe. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while attempting to merge onto the highway, the vehicle stalled without warning. the failure was experienced several times. the contact was able to coast onto the road shoulder, restarted the engine and resumed normal function. the engine and the wrench warning icon illuminated after the failure occurred. the vehicle was taken to a mechanic where a diagnostic was performed, which located at the throttle body. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 62,000 the failure mileage was 65,820.
Approximately 3 weeks ago i noticed a small bucking type symptom while sitting at an idle at stops lights. today while pulling out from my street onto the main road my car began bucking very bad and stalled. i was able to get it restarted and continued on to work. it happened twice more at stop lights while trying to cross a major highway! i called my mechanic and took it in immediately. they just called to tell me it was the fuel body and that this is a known issue with these cars and the parts are on back order! considering the severity of this issue and the fact that someone could be seriously injured in a accident because of this issue i would demand that ford issues a recall for these parts immediately! *tr
I was accelerating from a traffic light when all of a sudden i had no response from my gas pedal and my check engine light came on. i was able to coast until i could pull over out of the way of traffic. i turned the car off and back on. the check engine light turned off, so i thought maybe i'm okay. but, once i got up to speed again, the same thing happened. i was able to get my car back home by driving on back streets at 25 mph. using my odb-ii reader, i retrieved code p2112 from my car. this points to the throttle body assembly. *tr
My ford fusion has been having issues accelerating for about a year now. i have taken it in to be checked out and can't seem to find the problem. the night of june 30th i had drove to work, noticing it riding rather rough, but was able to make it okay. leaving work though i stopped at a local store, while i was parked and idling the car staled with a battery light on. i had just purchased a brand new battery, which was annoying enough in a 2010, just six months ago so i assumed the battery was bad again. i was going to try to jump the car when i realized it would start again, i drove a few feet and the same thing happened. it was able to make it about 30 miles home luckily but continued staling the whole way home. it even staled when i was going 55 mph. i got it to the dealership the next morning and they called to tell me it was the throttle body that had gone bad and needed to be replaced. after doing some research, i came across a website stating that i was not alone in this and that many other ford cars have also had this issue. this problem has cost me 500+ over the past year just in costs to the ford dealership. i can't imagine what kind of money i have lost in gas too. i wanted to share my information so something might be done before someone gets hurt from this problem with the ford throttle body. *tr
Car went into limp mode (all electric functions on and car running, but no acceleration) as i exited the freeway. car began shaking when stopped in parking lot off of road. i turned the car off, and restarted about 5 minutes later. car did the same thing when attempting to reach 30-35 mph. pulled into apartment complex, waited, and restarted. care failed two more times within a 3 mile distance, and was restarted. wrench light vanished after restart, but engine light now remains on. reporting due to ongoing investigation with throttle bodies for ford vehicles. researched this issue online. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled with the illumination of the maintenance light. the failure recurred on several occasions. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis but they were unable to duplicate the problem. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 54,000.
We lost all acceleration while pulling out of the store parking lot. we turned off the car, started it up again and it did the same thing while turning left into our neighborhood. luckily no traffic behind or oncoming while making these left turns. we got it to the dealer and they said it was the throttle body, not under warranty, not on recall, advised against driving our car, did not have a car for us to drive, would not pay for a rental, and the part was on nationwide back order for a month! we called ford customer service told them our situation (my wife is six months pregnant without a vehicle for a month). they agreed to pay for a rental car and put us on an expedited list. however, we have yet to hear when that part is coming in. *tr
While driving at 45mph the car jerked and lost thrust. the wrench light came on and i coasted as far as i could get. the engine did not seem to be running so i turned the key off and waited 20 seconds or so and attempted to start the vehicle. the car cranked many times but then started back up and was fine for the next 5 days. the first time this happened i brought the car to the ford dealer and was told that they needed to check it out. two days later they still had not looked at it so i took the car back. 5 days later it happened again but i came to a stop just around a corner and was concerned about being rear ended. i brought the car back to the dealer a second time and this time they looked at it. they said that the throttle body had to be replaced and that i was lucky that they had just received a shipment that day. the service associate said that this is a common problem and that these throttle bodies have been on back order for weeks. i had to pay for the diagnosis but it seems that this service should be done as a recall since there are so many problems. this is also a safety problem. *tr
I was driving at night and the car stalled in the middle of an intersection, as i was accelerating from a full stop. i let the car roll through the intersection, and come to a full stop. the car had very ruff idle while stopped, and the accelerator was still unresponsive. i shut-off the car for few mins, and re-fired the engine. it started, but few mins later, stalled again. this time the check engine light and the service wrench were both illuminated. i was able to drive the car home, 40 miles and then to dealer for the repairs. during the driving to home and the dealer the car stalled a number of times. the speed did not seem to matter when the car stalled. i took the car to the dealer and they have to replace the engine's throttle body assembly. the throttle body replacement also required a reprogram of pcm. i also, did some research and others having this problem too and you all have an investigation underway, http://www.nbcnews.com/business/1-3-million-fords-toyotas-hondas-under-investigation-1c8536130. i hope this repair works, but it was very crazy to have the car stall while travel on the highway. *tr
I was driving my 2010 ford fusion on the interstate at approximately 65 mph when without warning the car began to jerk and decelerate. a wrench light came on. i was not able to accelerate at all. i was able to get the car safely off of the road at which point it shut off. upon restarting the engine the car continued to jerk and the engine light came on. i waited approximately 10 minutes and restarted the car again. this time the engine light stayed on but the car was drivable and i was able to make it home. i had my car to the ford dealership july 1 and was told that the car needed a new throttle body which the dealership said was on backorder. upon learning this, i researched this issue on the internet and found that others have had this some thing happen to them. this is a major safety hazard and it needs to be corrected before someone is not able to get their car off of the road when this situation occurs. *tr
