We have classified the 779 complaints from 2010 Ford Fusion about VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL into the following categories.
Car would not accelerate engine light came on i turned car off started and it ran for about 100 feet and would not accelerate towed to dealership and they replaced the throttle body and motor assembly i'm glad we were not on the highway. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated while driving approximately 70 mph the vehicle would go into shut down mode, jerk violently and then slow the vehicle down 2 to 3 mph. there were no warning lights illuminated before or after the failure. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised him they needed to diagnose the failure with the throttle body injector. the vehicle has not been repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure and current mileage was approximately 52,000.
I was driving at 70 mph on the highway when all of a sudden my vehicle essentially stalled. the engine still appeared to be running (minimal rpms), but i couldn't accelerate, so the slowdown to a crawl was rather dramatic. i was absolutely lucky i was not injured as i was nearly clipped by an 18-wheeler as i attempted to pull to the side of the highway. the wrench-shaped light came on, which i had never seen before. i had my vehicle towed, but while waiting on the side of the highway my battery shorted out. the nearest ford dealership (willis ford of smyrna, delaware) was not able to get any "codes" from the test they run. so all they ended up doing was replacing my battery. i picked my car up the following afternoon and it seemed fine. however, the next morning (the first incident happened on the 4th, the second on the 6th), the same thing happened. albeit i was only driving about 50mph. once again, the wrench light came on. the ford dealership in dover, delaware (winner ford) also could not get the code. but after my research and explanations, they were in roughly 80% agreement that it was the throttle body, so with my permission they replaced it. that was on the 11th or 12th. they had kept it for a couple of days and drove it themselves to try and get the situation to replicate, which they couldn't do. since it has been replaced, it has not happened. i don't know what to expect of this process, but knowing that there's an investigation makes me feel a little less crazy. *tr
This is the second time car lost power and the wrench light came on also shuddered pull to the side of the road and restarted the car. fault cleared after this. *tr
On my way to work doing approximately 45 mph when car lost power. the route i take has a high volume of semi truck traffic. afraid that i would be rear ended i coasted to the side of the road. turned the car off and restarted it and was able to proceed. this happened several times over the course of the next month until i could not get it to move had it towed they replaced the throttle body in dec. of 2012. it is now dec. of 2013 and the throttle body needs to be replaced again at 48000 miles. this is not only dangerous but costly. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while attempting to enter a parking space with the brakes depressed, the vehicle suddenly accelerated, jumped a curb and crashed into a store window. the contact sustained bruises to the body. a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where the vehicle was inspected for surge acceleration. it was concluded that the failure was not caused by a manufacturing defect. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was not available.
While i was driving, the car would loose power. it would not die but would not have any acceleration. when i pulled off the road the idle would get very rough. i shut the car off and started it back up, then it would operate properly for awhile. then it would do the same thing at different times and different speeds. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 55 mph and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle would not respond. the vehicle started to shake while decelerating. the contact stopped the vehicle as the wrench warning light illuminated and the failure recurred several times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the failure could be related to the throttle body however, a diagnostic was not performed. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure and current mileage was 74,300.
I was on the highway driving and noticed that my engine light came on as well as a golden wrench. suddenly, i noticed that the car began to slow down and as i pressed the gas, the car would not speed up. i was on a 4 lane highway and so happen to be in the far left lane during afternoon traffic. it was a very scary moment. i finally was able to get to the emergency lane without causing or getting in an accident. once i came to a stop, the car seemed to shake. i cut the car off and waited about two mins and started it back. i stayed in the right lane as i traveled home but about 10 miles later the car did the same thing. today which is the 2nd of october the car did the exact same thing, coming from my newborn daughter doctor's appointment. this is almost gave me a heart attack because my child was in the car with me. very dangerous and serious problem!!!! *tr
75 while driving at highway speed car would stop being responsive to the accelerator pedal being depressed. the car would go into limp mode and shake violently. the obd system's & the wrench(powertrain light became illuminated . i proceeded to pull off on to the shoulder of the road and turned the car off. lights reset and car would run okay. this occurred 12 times prior to the obd codes could be determined. code p2111 and various related codes. throttle body stuck open. this problem could potentially have caused a fatal collision in heavy traffic. *tr
On freeway going 65mph with cruise control in pause mode. when i tried to accelerate i heard a noise, the wrench light went on & i lost all power although the motor continued to idle at very low rpm. after being towed, the car started right up and seemed fine. took it to ford and they found no codes coming up. 3 weeks later the exact same thing happened. ford again said no codes. i read all of the reports about the bad electronic throttle body problems people were having, i told the dealer to replace it even if they were not going to pay for it. the dealer insisted he had never heard about this problem even though i gave him 11 pages of complaints from the nhtsa website. ford did not pay for the repair. this can be a very dangerous safety issue. i was lucky enough to get off to the side of the freeway in time before getting hit. there should be a recall. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact was in traffic and neither the brake pedal nor the accelerator pedal was depressed when the vehicle began to roll forward. immediately, the vehicle abnormally accelerated to 35 mph. the contact attempted to control the unintended acceleration but the steering wheel and the brakes had become operable. as a result, the contact crashed into another vehicle. the air bags failed to deploy and the front driver side seat belt did not restrain the contact properly. the contact sustained a fractured toe, a bruised sternum and bruising to the forehead. the police reported to the scene and a police report was filed. the contact was transported to the hospital via ambulance. the police inspected the vehicle but could not determine the cause of the failure. the vehicle was towed to a collision center and the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the manufacturer advised the contact that an engineer would be sent to inspect the vehicle. prior to the crash, the contact noticed slight surging and had taken to the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the technician recalibrated the computer. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 36,000.
Driving down the road my car started shaking really bad and had no power pushing on the gas and would do nothing i had no where to pull off finally coasted to a drive and shut it off and started back up and it ran find for about a month then as i was going across the highway i gave it gas and it would do nothing and i nearly got hit by a semi truck. there's a lot of people having the same trouble and ford won't put a recall on it. someone is going to get killed. i'm currently trying to get them to fix it after my warranty just ran out. thank you for your time this is a serious issue and hope ford resolves this issue. *tr
I have a 2010 fusion that has acted up previously but quit and now its doing it consistently. the car throws a light that's a wrench spits sputters and will not receive any fuel no matter how much you press the throttle. i am a ford lover and bought this car for my fiance for a reliable transportation and now im really worried that this vehicle is going to cause her to get into an accident. it pretty much shuts down on you with not allot of warning and all you can do is coast and hope that you can pull on to the shoulder. i have a friend that works for ford that has informed me that this is a very common problem for this year model fusion and that its about $550 to fix. i am i have a decent job but i have a wedding coming up in just a month and a half and my soon to be wife is about to start back college and will not be helping me financially i just can not afford the parts and labor. if this is such a common problems with this certain model and year why hasn't there been a recall for this part it has obviously not been very well built and im concerned if i do pay the $550 that this part will just do the same thing. please help all of us that are trying to make it in life and recall a very poor design. *tr
On a typical good weather day i was driving around running some errands in the city. shortly after i started the car going at a city traffic rate of speed...approx 35-40mph...i got approximately 5miles out and the car began to slow down, and a wrench sign appeared. even with my foot on the accelerator, i could not accelerate, and went to pull off to the side of the rode which i was barely able to do. once i was fully out of the road, i put the car in park, and before i could shut the car off, it began to shake/ vibrate. i turned the car off and let it sit a couple minutes and i proceeded to start the car up, which it did so like the day i bought it, and the wrench sign went away. i proceeded to my first destination with out any problems. i left my destination and proceeded to my next...i got about 3miles out and the car did, and showed the same thing. so as i decided to just head home which was no more than 10 miles away, the car did the same thing 5 more times and the check engine light came on!!!!! i am now home and afraid to drive anywhere. i got online to see what it could possibly be, and i have not been able to call a mechanic because it is of course a holiday weekend!!! *tr
As i was driving down the road, my vehicle "stalled" ('limp" home mode) for no reason, the transmission/throttle control indicator light appeared on the instrument panel. i safely pulled the car over, as i slowed down the vehicle began to "jerk". the only way i was able to stop this was by putting the car in park and shutting off the engine. this happened after i had been on the road for about 15-20 min. i pulled back on to the road and a very short time later it happened again. i pulled over, shut the car off and started it back up and again it was "fine" (operational). i then made it the rest of the way home. this happened late on a saturday evening of labor day weekend. i took the car to the dealership on tuesday and on my way there it went into "limp home mode" 4 times in a 7 mile commute. ford did a diagnostic test and informed me that it would need a new throttle body. i am waiting to hear from ford if they are going to cover the expense as this is a known issue. the ford dealership told me it would be $460.00 +tax to perform the repair. *jb
For several weeks i've been noticing a sputter/vibration when in idle or park. this has only happened intermittently. this morning, while driving to work at approximately 65 mph, car suddenly begins to lose power and surge/vibrate/sputter and i notice the wrench light illuminated. i'm completely unable to accelerate and all i can do is coast to a stop on the shoulder of the (very busy) highway. after shutting the car off and sitting for about 15 minutes i'm able to restart the car with no indication there was ever a problem. the car is running smoothly and wrench light is off. i drove it to the nearest dealer's service department where i left it for inspection. as usual, i had to call the service department for an update and was told that the car was not "acting up" and everything seemed to be fine. they did agree to keep it for another round of inspections for the next day or so but i suspect i'll get the same response. after doing some light research, i've discovered that this is a very common issue with the fusions but there is no recall or tsb addressing it. i've read post after post after post written by infuriated fusion owners about this problem. it's time for ford to own up to this, get a solution, and send out the recall notices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *tr
I had been driving on a surface street for about 1 mile after coming off a highway. the car had come to a stop at least twice at traffic lights. i was coasting (foot not on brake or accelerator) when the car accelerated on its own from ~30 mph as if the cruise control (cc) had been activated. i touched the brake as quickly as possible (probably < 1sec of acceleration) and conditions returned to normal. looking at the dash, i noted that the cc master switch was on, but cc was not active before acceleration event or after braking. state during acceleration is unknown. my fingers were nowhere near the cc buttons (or any other steering wheel buttons) when the event occured. prior to the event: i was on a highway traveling about 60-65 mph with cc on and active. when cc is active, i always keep a thumb on the cancel/resume button. traffic slowed and i braked, then hit c/r (turning cc back to active -- my error). i immediately noticed the error and set the cc back to inactive (either by brake or cancel, i can't recall). cc was left in its master-on/inactive state when i came off the highway with active velocity set somewhere in the 60-65 mph range. this was the state of the cc system when the above described event occured. *tr
i was pulling my 2010 ford fusion hybrid into a parking space at about 3 mph and the car suddenly surged forward. to avoid impact into the car in front of me, i turned the car into a parking block next to my parking space. as i did this, i jammed on the brake, put it in park and turned it off. damage to front bumper and casing in front of tire from hitting the parking block. drove to dealership with no problems. diagnostics revealed nothing. contacted ford corp. about the incident and will await to see if they will cover damages to my vehicle. *tr
As i was driving down the road my car stopped accelerating, started spitting and sputtering (felt like it had ran out of gas) and displayed the wrench light on the dash. i cut the vehicle off and started it back up and had no further issues for quite a long time. almost a year later (june of 2013) the vehicle did the exact same thing. this time cutting it off and back on again did not fix the issue. my car wont even make it half a mile down the road now with out shuttering and sputtering to a stop. *tr
I was driving down the highway when i noticed that i could no longer accelerate. i coasted to a stop, the car shaking as it came to a stop. i placed the car in park, turned the car off, and restarted. it started up fine, and then it happened again about 10 minutes later. after a mechanic was unable to duplicate the problem, i thought it was perhaps "bad gas" and moved on. two weeks later, it happened twice, once stopping me in the middle of a busy intersection (because this time i wasn't going 60mph this time). the diagnosis from ford: a faulty throttle body sensor. the car is barely three years old, it has a significant defect (not caused by wear-and-tear or user-error), but it is not covered under their warranty. the mechanic at ford says that they see a lot of these situations. they are grossly negligent in not warning families and offering to fix their mistakes by replacing the bad throttle body components. *tr
Was driving down the highway at 60-65 mph when suddenly car jerked and lost all acceleration power. the rpms were stuck (not going up or down) and car began to slow down. the wrench light came on. i had to pull to the side of the highway to avoid getting hit. tried putting the car in park and back into drive, but it started shaking, so had to turn off the car, let it sit for a few minutes and re-start the car. it drove normally after re-start, however this was the second occurrence in one week and am now scared to drive it long distances or on the highway. ford needs to fix this issue before someone gets hurt! *tr
I purchased my car used with about 43000 miles on it and after only a week of having it i would occasionally notice that while i was accelerating the engine would seem to jump at certain points where it would like pull you up out of your set as if you had a light push from behind you, it doesn't happen a lot it also varies at what speeds it happens at. i didn't think much of it at the time but it seems to do it every so often where it will jump after i take my foot off of the gas pedal or while i am still accelerating. *tr
Driving on highway the accelerator stopped working. pulled the car off the road avoiding accident. turned car off. turned car back on working normally. 1 mile later same problem occurred. this happened 12 times in 12 mile stretch. throttle body is bad. this is common problem and needs to be recalled. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph the vehicle failed to accelerate. the contact stopped on the shoulder of the road and shut the engine off. after restarting the vehicle the wrench warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 62,628.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle failed to respond. the vehicle began to loose power and shook abnormally. the wrench warning light was also illuminated. the contact was able to stop, turn off and restart the vehicle. the failure was corrected momentarily however, recurred shortly after. the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who inspected the vehicle and determined that failure was caused by a defective throttle body. the vehicle was repaired by replacing the throttle body. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin was unavailable. the current and failure mileage was 75,000.
All of a sudden the rpm's immediately dropped to a rough idle. all throttle response was lost, i pulled over on the highway, where the vehicle was in limp mode with the check engine and wrench lights illuminated. the engine was idling very erratically and shaking, there was no response when pressing the accelerator. after shutting down the car, it restarted ok and drove. it suddenly did the same thing 2 more times before i was able to get home. the obd2 code was p2111, the drive by wire throttle bodies on these cars are faulty. seems to be a common problem. *tr
I had this issue when i first bought the car. driving on the hwy going 65 and all of a sudden the car lost acceleration and shook violently and stalled out. the wrench light came on and the vehicle went into stealth mode. this happen again on 07/16/2012, my daughter was driving the car. then it happen again on 07/28/2012. i took the car into the dealership and they did not get any of the codes, i guess because we turned the car off. at this point, i do not know what to do. *tr
my 2010 ford fusion v6 sel surged, shook violently and stalled out. a light shaped like wrench appeared. i pulled over and let it rest for about 30 seconds, then tried to start. it started up and i drove home. after researching online, i found many, many other ford customers with my year vehicle were having the same problem. dealers were telling them it's a bad throttle body. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact tated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled without warning. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for a diagnostic test. the technician stated that the throttle would have to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 42,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving approximately 40 mph the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle began to shake when the contact attempted to start the vehicle. the contact was able to restart the vehicle. the failure recurred four different times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the technician stated that the throttle body would have to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 54,000. updated 10/10/12 *cn
Driving on florida turnpike, just got on highway and at high speed the check engine light came on, diagnosed as code p2111, throttle stuck open by dtc reader. immediately lost power and about grinded to a halt, had to pull off road and limp to next exit. vehicle stuck in idle until restarted and had no further problems for a few miles but keeps coming up. cannot drive car on highway for fear of another dangerous failure. ford says throttle body is bad, no warrantied after 36,000 miles. *tr
The vehicle lost all power at 70 mph and a wrench light came on. this was very, very dangerous. i pulled to the side of the road and turned the vehicle off as it would not move forward anyway. it had a rough restart, but then seemed to be better though still running rough. the wrench light went out. it took it in for servicing at the dealer where they diagnosed the throttle body. this was a very scary and dangerous experience. *tr
While traveling on the expressway with the cruise control on my engine returned to idle speed and there was no response from the accelerator pedal. i had to coast to a stop on the shoulder, put the car in park, shut it off, and restart it. the next day this happened again twice, the check engine light came on, i read the code and it was p2112 throttle actuator control system stuck shut. i did some research and there are apparently some known problems with the throttle body assembly. my car is out of warranty and the dealer told me this part isn't covered under the extended emissions warranty. i was lucky that this didn't happen while i was turning or merging into traffic. *tr
Was driving on at 65mph on a state highway and passing another vehicle when my vehicle suddenly stopped responding to the accelerator. the engine dropped to 750 rpm and wouldn't do anything in response to my attempts to accelerate. the vehicle slowed quite rapidly because of this problem and i had to take evasive action to avoid a crash. there was no warning prior to it happening and no sounds associated with the incident. if my wife had been driving i know there would have been an accident. after turning off the vehicle and restarting it, the vehicle drove properly. when i returned home, i checked for any codes and found there were none. took the vehicle to the dealer for repair and was told "it is probably the throttle body control; we know there have been many incidents like this". this was reported yesterday in another incident but not with "speed control" as the affected part. i did not know it was an option at that time. *tr
On 7/22/2012 at approximately 2000 hours my family was traveling southbound on georgia state route 3 - us hwy. 41 in rocky face, georgia when our vehicle (2010 ford fusion automatic transmission) suddenly without notice went from a solid cruising speed of 40mph to an abrupt halt - nose of the car actually went forward towards the ground so abruptly that it made contact with the ground. the vehicle stalled (still barely running) in the lane of travel and would not get any throttle acceleration. my family and vehicle was almost struck by on coming motorists from the rear due to the abrupt stopping and the vehicle would barely get any throttle acceleration. after the georgia state patrol trooper came to assist the car would not go above 25 mph without suddenly stalling and the check engine light coming on along with an orange wrench symbol. the vehicle had to be abandoned at the dalton georgia state patrol post due to this issue until ford could send a representative to tow the vehicle to the local dealer where we purchased. the local dealer on 7/23/12 informed us that this is an on-going problem that ford is aware of and that the "throttle body" would have to be replaced. upon further online investigation i found that this issue is widespread and reported since 2010 & has caused very unsafe conditions for motorists such as it did with my family. i am asking you all to look into recalling the "throttle body" on the 2010 ford fusions to be replaced. this is a problem that ford is aware of and they are blatantly passing the blame off onto the consumer and someone (if not my own family) is going to get hurt. it is unsafe for a late model vehicle that has been serviced as required by the manufacture every 3-5 months to have these abrupt issues and break my family down in the roadway of travel on a major us highway. nhtsa please have ford correct before someone gets injured!! *tr
At highway speed, there was a controlled loss of power to the engine. upon shutting down and restarting, the problem cleared but recurred. the vehicle was serviced and the electronic throttle body was replaced. *jb
I was driving on a busy highway going about 70 mph and all of a sudden i had no gas peddle. i had my 3 year old daughter in the car at the time. i had no clue what was going on and almost got hit from behind bc i had not touched my brake yet. i pulled over and my car did restart but i did not make it far before it did it again. i took got my car to the dealership and they told me the throttle body needed to be replaced. my car has 40,000 miles i got it brand new off the lot and it's not covered in the extended warranty. the dealership acted like it was no big deal. let me drive off the lot. they also wanted 250 more to repair it. looking online i'm finding out that this is happening to so many people. ford needs to have a recall on this part before someone does in an accident. i called ford myself and filed a formal complaint. please everyone must do the same that is the only way to prevent this from happening to someone else. *tr
My 2010 ford fusion lurched forward and then stalled while on the highway driving with the cruise control on. the service engine light and a wrench appeared on the dash. i was losing speed and had to get to the side of the highway causing the semi and other vehicles behind me to slam on their brakes... the semi narrowly missed me. once to the side of the highway i turned my car off waited a second and restarted it. it ran fine for about 5 miles and it did it again. it did this a total of 4 times on the way to work and 5 on the way home. i took the car in to a service center and the code they got was "p2111 throttle actuator stuck open". i looked online and found that 2011 and 12 fusions had been recalled for this problem but not the 2010 but see that many 2010 owners have had this same issue as i have had. why are 2010 fusions not being recalled for a bad throttle body? it is a very scary and serious problem and only a matter of time before someone is injured or even killed. i was lucky. *tr
I was driving on the highway, and all of a sudden, my car slow down quickly and a light came on that looked like a wrench. i had to pull over quickly and try to restart the car, it restarted and i was on my way. this happened several other times and eventually, the vehicle would start, but wouldn't move. took the vehicle to the dealership, to be told i needed a new throttle body on a vehicle that was two years old. the warranty was up due to the mileage and the cost was around $600. this appears to be a known issue, but ford is not stepping up to the plate and covering the cost of the repair.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving approximately 5 mph and entering a parking space, the vehicle accelerated rapidly as the contact slightly depressed the accelerator pedal. the contact applied the brakes but the vehicle would not respond. the contact crashed into a concrete pillar. the contact sustained bruising to the shoulder and breast plate from the seat belt. the vehicle sustained damage to the bumper. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician stated that the transmission was loose but did not mention if the crash was related to the transmission. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 46,000.
Vehicle lost power, causing unexpected deceleration. i was afraid i would be hit from behind and was concerned for myself and my wife's safety. vehicle was repaired out of warranty. the electronic throttle body was replaced. *tr
While stopped with foot on break - the engine began to rev and the car began to lurch forward. i had to keep pressing harder on the brake i looked down to be sure i did not have my foot on the gas and i did not. i had to put the car in park and turn off the ignition to get the car to stop reving up and lurching forward. my wife told me she had a similar incident with the engine reving up when she had the car on cruise control but it only lasted a few moments, in that incident she was going 60. also, we do not have the floor mats that we read about in other posts online. *js
Driving in heavy traffic the car lost power going up a hill, as if the gas pedal had been disconnected. luckily i was able to avoid being hit and pulled out of the way. after a few minutes the car did start again but the shifting is strange and it dies a lot. i called ford dealership and they stated it was probably the throttle body as they had been replacing them left and right. this would not be covered by any warranty and would cost around $500. i then had a private mechanic look at it. he drove it around and the car died on him 3 times in this one trip. so after checking...he confirmed it is the throttle body but the part is on a national back order and would take up to 6 weeks. the manager of the service department at the ford dealership is very aware of the problem with the fusions and advised me to contact ford corporate. i did and their response to the problem was "we apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you.we highly recommend that your vehicle be inspected by your servicing ford dealership to determine the cause of any symptoms your vehicle may be experiencing. they have factory trained technicians, comprehensive service information and specialized equipment to help diagnose your vehicle." right, more money for them. someone needs to do something about this before someone gets hurt in an accident. ford needs to stand behind their product. it's obvious by the national back order that there is a problem somewhere. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact was driving approximately 60 mph when the engine stalled with the illumination of the wrench symbol, and engine warning indicators. the vehicle restarted after two attempts. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the throttle body assembly was replaced. the manufacturer was not notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 44,500.
I was driving on the highway at a steady speed when all of a sudden, the gas pedal stopped responding, almost as if i was in neutral. i was able to get over to the shoulder. it took a few tries of restarting the car in order to get it going. the same incident happened again the next week. *tr
While traveling in traffic the car lost power. i was able to steer to the shoulder of the road where the car idled roughly and i noticed a "wrench" light came on. i shut the car down while i collected my thoughts on what to do. i used my phone to find the closest ford dealer and, before calling for a tow vehicle, i tried to restart the car. it restarted, the wrench light was off, and it seemed to run fine. i drove directly to the nearest ford dealer without incident where they hooked up the computer to see what was wrong. they could find nothing wrong and suggested the next time it happened to try and get it to a dealer while the light was on. i then drove approximately 120 miles home with my grandson. this morning i went on the internet to see if there were any similar instances such as mind and found there were quite a few: (http://www.arfc.org/complaints/2010/ford/fusion/power_train/problem.aspx) the incidents others reported were almost identical to mine. i then called the dealer i bought the car from new, and they ran a check to see if there were any recalls on my model and there weren't. they suggested i call ford customer service. i tried calling them and was told by a representative they were having "technical issues" and couldn't help me, to call back in an hour. i live in a very rural area. the closest ford dealer is probably 50-60miles away. the roads here don't have much room to pull off on if the car fails again. judging by the complaints i have seen online, it seems there is a problem with this car and there should be some action being taken to remedy it. this situation creates a safety hazard for anyone driving or riding in the car. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the throttle failed. the tachometer displayed 2,000 rpms however the vehicle was not responsive to acceleration attempts. the contact parked the vehicle and later, the failure was corrected however the failure recurred several times. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer or a repair shop for inspection or repairs. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the current mileage was 60,506. the failure mileage was 59,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated while driving 40 mph, she attempted to accelerate and the vehicle did not respond. the wrench maintenance warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle began stalling and shaking, even as the contact shifted into park gear. the contact applied the emergency brake, turned off vehicle and restarted it. after the vehicle was restarted, the maintenance warning light was no longer illuminated. the failure was resolved momentarily. the contact continued driving and the failure recurred every five miles. the vehicle was towed to a repair shop where the vehicle was inspected and the failure was found in the throttle body. the air filter was defective and a burned spark plug was found. the approximate current and failure mileage was 54,000.
While driving my car it suddenly jerked and stopped like i had turned it off. i coasted to side of road it was still running could not give it any gas a wrench light came on. i turned off car and restarted it, and it came back on, and the wrench light went off. drove it on home it jumped and jerked like it was going to quit at any moment. i then took it to my dealership they ran a diagnostic test on it said it was throttle body but was not covered under my warranty. i have had no problems with this car since purchasing it but have only had it less than a year. i am concerned with a serious accident happening because it just shuts off the gas and i cannot move it or get it out of traffic.
