ACCELERATOR PEDAL 3

Recently reported VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL problems on 2010 Ford Fusion

Driving and lost power, car engine died. wrench icon came on on the ger indicator. sputtered when coming to stop and had to shut car off and restart. when restarted i had no odemeter or gas mileage indicator on dash. did another 2 times until i reached my destination, approx 3 -5 miles away. i was out of town when happened and i called my ford dealer and explained and the service manager stated he was 95% sure it was the throttle body. he also stated i might not be able to get fixed right away as to the possibility of no parts available as a known issue. had to finally stop at a ford dealer on sunday on our return trip as kept happening, repeatedly and too unsafe to drive any further as we were not getting any further than 5 miles apart before it kept happening and 2 of us had to stay overnight in a hotel until the ford dealer opened monday am. on the 4th time this happened, a check engine light finally came on..not prior to this though.the ford dealer confirmed it was the throttle body and we did have replaced at that time. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while traveling approximately 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost acceleration power. the vehicle was merged to the shoulder where the vehicle was shut down and restarted. the contact also mentioned that the failure was experienced multiple times. the vehicle was taken dealer where it was determined that the throttle body had failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure mileage was 90,000.

The vehicle lost acceleration and stalled. restarted and the condition recurred approximately in 3 or 4 miles. again, i turned the key off then restarted and again, the condition repeated after several miles down the road. the car was taken to the ford dealership the next day and no code was available for the mechanic to diagnose. the condition did not reoccur for six weeks and resurfaced again with identical symptoms. returned the vehicle to the dealership where this time they affirmed the throttle body failure. the part is unavailable at this time because of high demand exhausted the availability of the unit. *tr

Car started jerking and the throttle light and engine light came on. lost power and acceleration. had difficulty maneuvering it to the side of the road. vehicle had to be towed to dealership where mechanic diagnosed the problem as failed throttle body assembly. *tr

Was riding on interstate when car stopped accelerating. car behind me had to move to shoulder to avoid hitting me. i pulled over to shoulder turned off engine and started back up with no problem. went to auto place to get it checked they said they could not check without engine light on. car ran fine until 6/21/13, going 45 mph and car stopped accelerating. i pulled on side of road restarted and everything was fine but engine light was on. went to auto place to get checked and it gave a code of p2111 throttle actuator control system stuck open. after researching code i found that this is a common problem. i keep thinking about what could have happened on that interstate. now i avoid the interstate until i can afford repairs. *tr

This car has a tendency on stalling because of the electronic throttle body. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated while driving approximately 35 mph, the accelerator pedal was engaged and failed to respond. the vehicle was coasted to the side of the road where the engine was turned off. after waiting a few moments the engine was restarted and the vehicle operated normally. the malfunction recurred two times. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the throttle body was replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

I was traveling approx 60 mph in crowded traffic when suddenly and without warning the car stalled and lost its power. fortunately, i was able to guide the car safely to the side of the road. the wrench light did come on. after about a minute and just prior to calling road assistance, i attempted to start the car. it did so successfully and i was able to drive to my local ford dealership immediately. for two days, the service department attempted to duplicate the failure but was unable to do so. no dtc was produced. however, after much discussion and research, they went ahead and replaced the throttle body. so far, the problem has not recurred. *tr

I was driving along on a neighborhood road when my car suddenly lost power and idled really rough. when i would press the gas pedal, nothing would happen. i was able to pull the car off to the side of the road due to very little traffic and cut the car off and then restarted it. it worked at that time, but since then has done this multiple times while driving. the last time this happened, it would happen everytime i started the car for about 4-5 times, before the car finally stayed on, and i was able to get home. luckily each time this happened, traffic was slow, because this could have caused a serious accident. i have been looking into this situation and have found multiple other occurrences of this same problem happening all over the country, and have found out that it is the throttle body and the throttle actuator. something needs to be done about this and quick before someone gets killed from this. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 30 mph, he attempted to accelerate but the vehicle began to idle. the contact shut the vehicle off and restarted as it functioned properly. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the throttle body needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 98,000. the consumer stated the part caused five problems. once caused the vehicle to roll. the consumer stated throttle body would fail at any speed, and the engine would just idle.

The first time i experienced the problem; i was accelerating going up a slight incline, the engine quit. i had to put it park and restart it, in traffic. this same issues happened several more times, the car just quit while driving. on july 27th, it happened again along with a new issue: i was at a stop light and it started running ruff and shut itself off. this incident happened twice. *tr

Throttle body malfunction caused the ford fusion to stall every couple blocks. had to tow it to the dealer who diagnosed the problem as throttle body replacement was needed. *tr

Pulled out into traffic and my car lost all acceleration and began to shudder when i got it to the shoulder. turned it off, and back on: no issue. less than 40 yards down the road it did it again. took it to auto zone, the only code that came up was that my "fuel door stuck open". which is impossible, because it came with a "racing cap" i.e no twist-off cap. drove fine for two months, then came back something awful to the tune of freeway 75mph to zero, at which point it went into "limp mode" and barely made it home due to numerous stalls. just had to replace this defective throttle body on a 3-year old car. ridiculous ford. also, my drivers' side interior door handle broke out of nowhere. *tr

While driving on the interstate at about 60 mph, my 2010 ford fusion unexpectedly lost power and suddenly slowed. it did not accelerate when i stepped on the gas, however, the engine was still running. i had to put on my emergency flashers and coast to pull off on the side of the road while other cars and trucks traveling fast were coming up on me. after i pulled off, i restarted the car and it ran okay for a while. however, the same thing has happened a total of 4 times. this is a major safety issue. i am afraid to drive the car until they figure out what the problem is. *tr

Like most of the complaints i read on- line and was able to diagnose the problem myself a 55 year old female, i was driving and all the sudden my engine was still running but had no acceleration the pedal was worthless, luckily i was able to coast off the road without being slammed into by other cars and then when i came to complete stop the car started shaking uncontrollably and then the engine died. i put in park and turned off ignition then i restarted and i was able to drive a few miles then it happened again. i had to restart 4 times to make it home and i was lucky to be in my home town when this happened because i make a lot of two hundred mile trips. i googled online and found out that other owners of this lemon vehicle has had the same problem. ford dealership wanted close to $700.00 to diagnose and replace the throttle body, parts and labor. i'm recently divorced and unemployed and could not afford this ridiculous amount for something that takes less then 10 min. to change, i bought a new one for $172.00 and did it myself couldn't be easier. ford should be ashamed for not recalling all vin numbers mine wasn't included in recall, thank god someone posted on utube how to change it. shame on ford this is a safety issue and hope no one gets killed in a traffic accident when this happens. *tr

Loss of power on interstate going 60 mph after 1.5 hour drive. weather: sunny, upper 70's. throttle control lost. changing accelerator position has no effect on rpms. gas tank 3/4 full. engine still running, coasted off onto the shoulder. engine vibrated a lot but may have been antilock brakes kicking in. turned off engine. a few minutes later started again, but it wouldn't start at first. recently had 50000 mile service. symptoms consistent with those reported in the press for ford fusion problems with throttle assembly. safety issue makes it a scary situation on interstates especially where there is no immediate place to pull over (miles of construction, for example) with heavy truck traffic behind you. *tr

While driving down a moderately traveled road, my vehicle lost power where when i pushed on the accelerator (nothing happened). i was able to get pulled off the side of the road and some warning lights appeared on my dash. i turned the car off and restarted it and it seemed to be okay (no warning lights on dash) and i proceeded home. the following morning it happened again while attempting to pull away from a traffic light on a busier road. i managed to get off the road, turned it off and tried restarting it. once i got it restarted, i headed straight for the dealership. it was diagnosed as being the throttle body. my issue is that it can completely catch the driver off guard and cause an accident. the vehicle is not very old and the manufacturer seems to be controlling the distribution of the part (only so many released at a time). it took over a week to get my car back for what seems to be a very common issue as read in forums from other owners of the same type of vehicle. i believe the issue with the throttle body needs to be reviewed for a possible recall. *tr

Driving at relatively low speed - 25-30 mph - and car lurched to slow speed - could not accelerate at all. had to pull over to side of road, turn vehicle off and restart. drove 50 yards and problem recurred. it continued to happen, fortunately not on the highway until i called the ford dealer. had to have the vehicle towed because i did not want to take it on the highway. dealer wanted to charge me over $500 for repair as vehicle was 3 months out of 36 month warranty. i researched online and found that this is a problem with the "throttle box" which the dealer should have been well aware of. dealer did "assisted" me with cost of repair - charged me $50.00. the repair should have been free. ford needs to issue a recall before someone is killed. *tr

I was accelerating down a street on my way to work at about 35-37 mph when the car just started sputtering. i was on a road with heavy traffic and no sidearm. i stopped the car and restarted it. i made it about 1 mile further before it did the same thing. i was on pins and needles all day driving it. it happened about a week later after no further incident from the first occurrence. i took it in to a ford dealer who identified it as a throttle problem. cost me $500 since it is no longer under warranty for my car. unacceptable occurrence. making me rethink any loyalty to ford. *tr

I was driving around 70 miles an hour, southbound in the hov lane of i-95 near exit 2b in alexandria va. the area is a construction zone with barricades on either side of the two lane hov facility. suddenly, and abruptly, i lost all acceleration and had to coast to a stop in a manner that blocked the right lane of the hov facility. the engine remained running in a rough idle, and the engine/wrench light came on. i tried restarting the car (shutting off and turning the car back on trying a variety of shifting the transmission to n or p). the car would run, but always at a rough idle with no ability to accelerate. during this time, there were several near rear-end collisions due to motorists traveling at a high rate of speed before encountering my completely stopped vehicle. realizing the peril i was in, i quickly exited the vehicle and hopped the construction barricade. i called 911 due to the danger of the situation and it took around 25 minutes for the roadside assistance vehicle to arrive. after the engine cooled, the issue seemed to resolve itself, and i was able to drive the vehicle to the nearest dealership. the diagnosis was made by the ford dealership technicians within 90 seconds of me describing the problem. the throttle body was the problem. i researched the issue to discover that this issue is extremely common and well known to ford. the issue is so pervasive that there is a nationwide back order on the part with a lead-time of more than 2 weeks. i was angered to learn that ford is aware of this issue yet has not sent notice of the problem or a recall and is charging customers for parts and labor to fix this problem. most importantly, i am angered of the peril that i was placed in when this known issue impacted me in one of the worst possible places to have it happen. i cannot imagine what i would have done if my kids were in the vehicle. *tr

I bought a 2010 ford fusion, 4 months ago in march, 2 months after purchase the car began shutting off while driving, the problem was only happening every once in a while, but has progressed more and more to the point that i was unable to drive at all. i took the car to the dealership, who sent it to be serviced. then i find out that it is the throttle body and would cost me 600 dollars to get repaired and that it is not covered under warranty. i liked the fusion until i began having these issues, but i fear for the life myself and my kids in this vehicle and don't think that i should be having these problems right after the purchase of a new vehicle. *tr

While driving at 50 miles an hour the engine lost power and would barley move when the gas pedal was pushed, i was able to drive two blocks to an auto repair shop and was told it was the throttle body assembly, i contacted ford motor company and found out there have been numerous complaints about the throttle body so much so that the parts are on a two month back order unless they order under an emergency condition then it still takes two weeks. i am wondering why there has not been a recall by ford before someone is seriously injured or killed? i am now having to pay over $500.00 for the repair. *tr

I was driving on the interstate with the cruise on when the wrench light lit up and the car started to slow. it did not respond to the gas pedal. i pulled over, restarted the car, and all was fine until 10 miles later when the check engine light went on, but the car continued to drive. i pulled off and drove home. the next day, the check engine light turned on when i started the car, but turned off a few minutes later. the car killed twice on surface streets, with no check engine light. garage has identified the problem as the "throttle body wire." *tr

Powering down of vehicle consistent with a throttle body failure. this happened on multiple occasions between june 5-7 2013. vehicle is at ford dealer in gaithersburg, md with unknown time for completion. this is the 5th time n the 3 year history of the vehicle that i will be without the car for more than 2 weeks. since i am out of warranty i was told i will have to pay for this repair. this is completely ridiculous. *tr

Driving at 45 mph in rush hour traffic vehicle stalled wrench light came on and would not accelerate vehicle crept at less than 5 mph when i finally got to a safe place to pull over i shut vehicle off wrench light gone and vehicle worked fine. i took it to dealership they said it was throttle body charged me $596 to replace they said it was common. however shouldn't this be a recall since it is so dangerous. *tr

Lost power at highway speed. pulled onto shoulder and restarted engine. later checked the code, which was p2111. stopped driving car: in some situations this loss of power could be a safety issue. dealer replaced throttle body at a cost of $400. *tr

I was driving on a city street and the car lost power. the wrench light came on. i glided to a parking lot and turned the car off. i waited a minute and started the car and it seemed fine. i drove it a week and the exact same thing happened. we brought it to a ford dealer who had no idea what the problem was. the diagnostics showed no recordings. they performed some maintenance and now i see on my bill a statement that says "may need throttle body if concern happens again" it happened again on the 4th of july 2013, on the expressway going 70 mph. the car stopped accelerating, the wrench light came on, we were able to move over two lanes and get on the shoulder. the car bucked and coughed a few times and we turned it off. we were able to start again and go home, all of us visibly shaken and now very angry at the dealer. *tr

Traveling on expressway the car had no throttle. pressing the gas pedal but no response. engine started to miss fire. wrench light came on. pulled over, shut car off. started up and ran ok . pulled into an advance auto they scanned no codes. next day on expressway again. same thing happened. this time engine light came on. taking back to dealer today. *tr

I was driving at 55 mph and the car suddenly lost power all it would do was idle. this has happened several times i checked the codes with my scan tool it gave two codes for stuck throttle body one for stuck closed and the other one for stuck open. *tr

While driving normally the cars wrench light will come on, then jerk hard and then lose all acceleration. there is still braking and steering to get off the road and to a stop before the car shuts off. will not even "limp" home. after several minutes you can start it back and continue, until it happens again. *tr

While driving, the car jerked and the rpms dropped and i could not accelerate. i was able to get the car to the side of the highway and noticed that the wrench light had turned on. i put the car in park, shut off the engine, waited a few seconds and started the care again. no lights were on so i got back on the highway for it to happen again a mile down the road. this happens occasionally (roughly 15 times in the last 3 weeks) and sometimes the wrench light comes on, sometimes it's the engine light and sometimes it's the battery light. this occurs no matter the speed, no matter the temperature, no matter the number of things using the battery (because the battery light came on a few times). it is completely random and got it to the shop to tell us it was code p2111, something with the throttle body. it needs replaced, so they say - but is on national back order. *tr

Engine stopped responding to accelerator and only coasted. orange wrench light came on. unable to move car forward other than coast. engine rough idled but would not respond. especially dangerous problem at highway speed in traffic. serious safety issue. *tr

6-1-13,2010 ford fusion with 4 cyl. approximately 35 mph, car began to shudder, would not accelerate then cut out. wrench light came on. coasted to side of road and pulled off. tried to restart car, restarted on second try. ran fine the 20 miles back home. same thing occurred on 6-4-13. *tr

Starting in june 2013 my vehicle began stalling as i was driving. the first time i was driving on i95 at 70 mph when the engine stalled and decelerated rapidly. i had to get to the side of the road as i could and turn the car off, turn it back on. by the time i got it fixed on september 23, 2013 it was happening up to 10 - 20 times per day! i took the car to the dealer but because the basic warranty expired, the repairs were my responsibility. i went on line and saw that there are a lot of ford owners having the same problem. i now have paid and my vehicle is fixed but this is a life and death situation and needs to be taken seriously. someone is going to die - i have almost been rear ended so many times due to this problem as well as it stalling during a left hand turn where i had to turn it off in the middle of an intersection and turn it back on. *js

Fuel cap codes, emission control codes and throttle actuator control code are now on all the time. i had taken it back to ford, but light had went out at the time. i was told that the codes do not log in ecm. i was told they could hook up equipment, there would be no codes and the cost $90.00. i left. on a short trip this weekend we had problems with all codes staying on and new one for throttle when cruise would not set. i stopped at autozone and they could print out stored codes. they are p0455, p0457,p2119. they have performed and throttle recall once and i have a letter from ford about a recall, but no response as of yet. as of today the dash service wrench has reset. the problems start over a year ago on trips to fla. but lights always seamed to reset after several key recycles. thanks [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I was driving to my mother house to pick up my son my car suddenly just lost all power. it was still running but not accelerating. it was violently shaking and a wrench light came on. i pulled into a parking lot turned the car off when i restarted it came right back on after that i had no trouble that night. a couple of days later my son and i were headed home it did this to me again but when i tried to restart the car it had more trouble and only allowed me to 100 yard or so. my mechanic cleaned the part it did fine for about another month or so until this past monday 7/29/13. i have currently bought a new throttle body and it has seemed to fix this car. ford needs to realize this a problem.the car has stopped on me numerous time and could have caused many accident. i began looking and this seems to be a common issues among this car. its time for a recall. i must say that i was lucky to have a mechanic for a dad because i was quoted almost 700 dollars for this job and lucky he could do this for free with only the cost of the part. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle started to shake violently and engaged into limp mode. the contact mentioned that the wrench warning icon was illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 66,000. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the malfunction indicator lamp illuminated and the engine stalled. the vehicle was coasted to the side of the road where the engine was restarted. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. the failure was contributed to the electrical throttle. the vehicle was to be repaired when the part became available. the manufacturer was not notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000. the vin was unavailable.

The first incident occurred when i was crossing a busy intersection and the vehicle lost power. i had to drive onto the median to avoid traffic, turn my car off and back on, and then it ran like nothing happened for a couple of weeks. the second incident, same thing, i was driving along and the car completely lost power and i had to pull off of road and restart the vehicle. each time, the wrench light flashed on and the car shuttered as i came to a complete stop. after the fourth time, same scenario, the check engine light popped on and hasn't disappeared. it has now happened at least once a day for the past 3 days with no luck getting it into a mechanic for another week. after researching, i discovered that it is probably the throttle body and is a very common and dangerous problem in ford fusions. i am disgusted and disappointed that there are so many complaints and nothing being done. the part needs recalled! this is my second 2010 ford fusion after praising my first one for saving my life in a head on collision. however, after being terrified for stalling out of no where and possibly being in another life threatening accident, i am tempted to never buy ford again. *tr

Car quit accelerating (didn't shut off) and ran roughly. fortunately, i was able to easily pull off to the side of the road. i turned the ignition off and restarted the car. it started with no problems the rest of the day. incident happened five more times over the next four days (couldn't get car to the dealer until then). on the 4th of june, i was taking the car to the dealer and it started acting up again, only this time, i was on the freeway in heavy traffic. i had to move over two lanes to the break down lane. i was almost involved in an accident, because i couldn't accelerate. i was close to the dealer and was able to restart the car, to get it there. i was informed it was probably the throttle body and would be two or three weeks before they would receive the parts as they were on backorder. i was fortunate, that they eventually received the throttle body on the 8th of june. it cost $515 plus $220 for the rental car. i know this repair and the cots are between me and ford, but i don't know who else to turn to, in order to express my feelings that i was ripped off by ford.

This morning my wife told me her car would not accelerate and had acted like it was out of gas. she said when she stopped and turned the car off and then restarted the car it worked fine for a few miles. i decided to take it to my mechanic. on the way there the car would get up to around 40 to 45 and then seem to loose power. when i would pull over the car would begin to shake. i had to turn the car off and wait a couple of minutes and then restart it and it would be fine for a while. finally made it to the mechanic and after being checked it turned out to be the throttle body. the mechanic said they called for the parts and there were over 4,000 on back order. there were able to find one and hopefully it will arrive in a day or so. with that many on back order and all the comments here you would think this would be a recall item. i can't imagine what could happen if you were in heavy traffic and this happened. it is a safety issue that needs to be addressed. *tr

Came off the highway and was waiting at a red light. went to accelerate and the car would not go. the car did not stall but would not accelerate. took to mike bass ford in sheffield oh and they diagnosed that it was the throttle body. took approx 12 days to fix. the dealership claimed that ford had run out of the part. *tr

My wife was driving on the main major highway two weeks ago around 45 miles per hour. the car lost all acceleration. she had to dodge moving traffic to pull over with no power. after she shut the car off it started again without issues. yesterday i was driving about 40 and also lost acceleration but still had power, it was weired the car was still on, but the yellow "wrench light" came on indicating it was a throttle control transmission problem! i pulled over put the car in park, turn off the ignition, and restart the car with out a problem. its only 2010 fusion so we shouldn't be having this issue... in these two incidents an experienced driver was behind the wheel my son has started driving and this is a receipt for disaster or worse! from what the ford dealer mentioned it could be the throttle body problem and it's not covered under warranty. there needs to be a recall, especially with the number of compaints i have read before someone isn't so lucky in traffic. "ford motor company", lets not wait for serious injury or death to address this issue! recall actions need to be taken asap "before" a serious incident ! *tr

While driving, the electronic throttle body malfunctioned, causing my car to start to lose speed rapidly. i was in interstate traffic, making this issue that much more dangerous. i was lucky that i was in the right hand lane without heavy traffic and could pull safely off of the road. this has occurred multiple times since then. it seemed to be an intermittent problem, but has now put my car out of commission until it is fixed. the cost of repair is over $400. upon researching this, i found that it is a very common problem that ford seems to know about, but will not cover under the extended warranty i have because it is an "emissions" part. i must state that i absolutely love my car and like the way it drives, but am disappointed that this has not been recalled since it is common enough for the dealer to know what it is before even looking at the car. i also must say that my dealer has dealt with me fairly and honestly through the whole process. *tr

While driving down the highway at 50 mph in my 2010 ford fusion, the engine shut down and i was unable to get the engine to do anything but remain at idle, i coasted to the shoulder of the road. i shut the engine off and then restarted it. i managed to get back home. i took the car to a ford garage and they determined that the throttle body was bad. they have ordered a new throttle body so they can make the repair. *tr

The wrench icon lit on the dashboard while driving on the interstate. vehicle immediately lost power and had to be quickly driven to the shoulder of the road. car could not be driven further. vehicle towed to nearest ford dealership. dealership advised me throttle body had failed. vehicle at dealership for over 2 weeks, and cost 900 dollars. not covered by warranty since vehicle was just beyond 60,000 mile warranty. *tr

I was driving on a major highway in town going about 45 miles per hour. the car started shaking violently and i could not accelerate. i had to dodge moving traffic while my car shut down. i had to put the car in park, turn off the ignition, and restart the car. a yellow wrench light came on while the car was shaking. i was able to avoid getting into an accident, however i was fearful for my life. there needs to be a recall, especially with the number of complaints i have read. it is beyond me how this is not under warranty, considering my car is less than 5 years old and doesn't even have 40k miles on it. after a tow to the local ford dealership, i was told (4 days later) that it was the throttle body and it's not covered under warranty. *tr

Accelerator suddenly lost ability to accelerate and the wrench light appeared on the control panel. after coasting to a stop was able to turn off car and restart. this has recurred ~10 times. ford dealership diagnosed as a faulty throttle position sensor (tps). to replace they ordered a complete throttle body and motor assy.$185.41 plus labor. ford is unable to get this replacement part for at least 3 weeks so far. . *tr

1 morning traffic, heavy stop and go, tool light came on, car stalled, shake and would not accelerate. 2 another when i was with children and steady speed of 65mph on the freeway and on fast lane and car no warnings shut down accelerations and tool light came on. 3 driving without traffic coming off a stop light turning on a main street and car shuts down again after no warning . tool light comes on and engine light as well. many other incidents have occurred and finally after several attempts to figure out what was the issues the mechanic had a code od p2111 throttle body system was the cause. very dangerous and what is worse the car tests itself and makes the issues go away for a short time. *tr

Driving at 70 mph, lost power, check engine light came on and the wrench icon on dash also lit up. coasted to stop and it ran very rough but wouldn't move. if you turned it off and restarted it, it would run for a couple of miles and then it would happen again. diagnostic code 2111 showed meaning throttle body malfunction. the ford dealer,[xxx] (tampa) reported that ford is having widespread throttle body malfunctions on the 2010, 2011 and 2012 2.5 liter cars. they didn't have the part in stock and they told me it was on back order and they didn't know when to expect it. they said ford has ordered it's supplier to make at least 1,000 replacement throttle bodies to address this problem apparently for cars still under warranty.. i'm reading that the ford escapes are having this type of problem. too. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
