Recall 2004 ford f-150 power window regulators - the 4 windows on my 2004 f150, in all 4 doors have fallen down. for 4 years, i have tried to get the ford dealership to repair the window regulators, but they will not replace the regulators as being defective, or under warranty. according to the ford parts person i spoke to the other day the window regulator part# has changed now 3 times and he stated that ford never changes the part # unless there is a physical change to the part and he stated they have had "issues" with these regulators thus the change, he stated that the newest version has been beefed up around the plastic clip that keeps breaking off, hopefully the newest versions have corrected the problem but as you can see just by the fact that ford has changed the part # 3 times they know about this problem and now they need to fix this safety hazard on all of our windows. i am requesting from ford that they replace all 4 window regulators in my vehicle. my windows should not be inoperable! here are links to a few other owners of ford f150 who are having this problem. 2004 f-150 problems & complaints http://www.carcomplaints.com/ford/f-150/2004/ testimonials 2004 f-150 http://www.carcomplaints.com/ford/f-150 ... door.shtml http://www.carcomplaints.com/ford/f-150 ... l_up.shtml 2005 f-150 problems & complaints http://www.carcomplaints.com/ford/f-150/2005/ testimonials 2005 f-150 http://www.carcomplaints.com/ford/f-150 ... lure.shtml http://www.carcomplaints.com/ford/f-150 ... erly.shtml http://www.carcomplaints.com/ford/f-150 ... door.shtml. *tr
I have a 2004 f-150 fx4 that has 6 power windows, including the backslider and sun-roof. i purchased this vehicle in dec. of 04. when the truck was at 35000 the driver window fell into the door, i live in the hottest city in az. the dealer was happy to fix the problem, but the parts were on back order, because this is a common problem for this year truck. that is what the dealer told me! the solution mean while, a pair of visegrips on the window frame rail, that actually work great even though i had to do it myself. they did fix the window under warranty, but a week later the passenger window hit the floor too. luckily still under warranty, but while taking the truck in for the passenger window the backslider quit working so they fixed it as well. 3 down 2 to go! two weeks later the driver rear window makes a popping sound and went into the door. #4 and would you guess 14 miles out of warranty, $388 later window is fine. one week to the day driving to phoenix az. a slight bite cooler then we are, the passenger rear window popped and slowly went down. after an hour in a wal-mart parking lot i got the window clamped up. the dealer told me to wait for a recall and i will be paid for the two windows at $388 a pop. i was also told that it is a design change to the regulator in the window. a plastic clip is used on the cable that pulls the window up/down. my other question is do they replace the regulator with the same type and if so when will it break again. *nm
Safety issue, in cab electrical failures. feb 4th 2006, it rained 1.5 inches. my truck sat in the rain with all the windows up. in the evening i opened the door and drove away. as i had jumped in the truck, i had realized i did not have any dome lights. as i drove away (engine running fine), i realized i did not have any readouts on my instrument cluster and several other things not working. about 10 miles later, i hit a bump in the road and all my non-working items began working. the only side effect was my tripometer quit working. at this time, september 14, 2006 i continue to have this problem. specifically when it rains or is humid. i currently have driven my truck approx 200 miles in the past 4 days without any of these items working. during these 6 months, i would approximate this issue as 1x per week problem, with the resolution being a hard hit on the dash while i am driving. however, i am at the point now where hitting the dash does not solve the problem. here is a list of things not working when i have this failure. the air bag light blinks upon start up then stays illuminated. no dome lights no speedometer no tripometer no odometer no tach no fuel no engine temp no operating volts no oil pressue no audible alarm the key is in the ignition no audible alarm when the lights are left on no auto power locks no power windows (therefore stuck in position of last normal operation) no radio no ac no defrost (problem occurs when humidity is high = fogging windows.) i feel i have some safety issues that make this truck unsafe. i am at 50,000 miles warranty, how do i get the mfg to fix correctly, for free. *nm

Window regulators failed in all four doors of my 2004 ford f-150 supercrew pickup early in the life of the vehicle. there is a systematic design or quality flaw in these regulators with minimal usage. when the regulator fails, the windows fall down inside the door and cannot be raised without disassembly of the door. *tr

This is my second complaint about my 2004 ford crew cab, i now have had all four of my window regulators fail on my truck. each time $350.00 dollars. coming home from a trip with 2 co-workers a back window fell in my truck and i had to drop off my co-workers and drive home by myself at midnight. this was very scary for all of us. when is ford going to put the safety of humans above money and recall this defect. i now believe that my drivers window is fixing to drop again and who has the money to keep fixing windows with the economy in failure. maybe i can get a bailout to fix my window or better yet buy myself a new chevy pickup. *tr

2004 ford f150 problems with upper ball joint assembly as well as tire wear.*mr the upper joint was the cause of the tire wear on one tire. the consumer stated since he purchased the vehicle it exhibited a rattle noise, the side view mirror had to be replaced because it was vibrating so badly, the hood had to be reinforced so it would not flutter at highway speeds. the vehicle needed a new transmission. *jb
Complaint on 2004 ford f-150 window regulators. i have three that have failed with two of them doing it twice. these case damages to the driver and passengers when glass is broken. it is also a huge distraction when window falls while driving. glass is a big problem to children in car seats. *tr

The problem is with the regulator assy for the windows. the first was the drivers side window with 37,513 miles. i asked dealership if warranty could pay for it and it was covered even though the 36/36 expired. the next window was the right rear (fell down into the door just like the front driver side) that was on 8/14/08 and 57,916 miles. i had to pay 342.55. now it is 12/23/08 and the right front passenger window fell down into the door. i called the dealership and they could not help me until tomorrow. now i have plastic and duct tape on my truck. i wanted to file this because i know there have been other complaints on this matter. *tr
Driving down state route 33.. drivers side window suddenly falls down into the door. 35 deg outside. research into the problem reveals it is very common, and that more than likely, ill be replacing all of the regulators in due time. *tr
My mother and sister were driving the truck when they heard a very loud noise and then the driver side window fell all the way down. they were unable to lift the window back up. this was the first incident. the second incident happen when i woke up last week on november 9, 2008, went out side my home and noticed that the passenger front window was down. i tried to raise up but it would not move, it appeared that the same thing had happen to this window as the one on the driver side. i took the truck to my mechanic to take a look at it and sure enough the same thing had happen to this window as the driver side window; the regulator assembly had fail which made the window fall down. in both instances i had to replace both parts; i have so far paid about five hundred dollars to fix this defect. i searched the internet and noticed that i am not the only person that has had this problem. *tr
When using the heat in my 2004 f-150 super crew fx4 it constantly pours out of my dash. even when set on floor or defrost it will pour our of the dash. after a few minutes of using the heat, the ride becomes quite uncomfortable. my face gets real hot and eyes get bloodshot from being dried out. i have taken it to ford 5 times and the first time they could see/feel the problem. now that they cannot fix it, they tell me that it is normal operation. which is absolutely false, especially when i own 2 of the same trucks and one does it and one does not. *jb
I have an 04 f-150 and just yesterday my power window regulator went out on me and now cannot roll window back up. i live in wisconsin and just my luck it has started to snow. i am very disappointed in the quality of my first ford product i have purchased in 15 years. i have been reading up on several hundred posts stating that they have had to replace this same regulator several times on the same vehicle. please advise as to what we can do to resolve my issue. i had to take the day off of work in order to locate a new regulator. i went to my local auto parts dealer and said they had to special order it. then i went to the next nearest town to a ford dealer. finally purchased the regulator for $200.00. after owning this vehicle for just under 1 month and having to replace something that has had so many complaints on, i feel you as a well respected company needs to step up to the plate and admit faults. please respond with what you can do for me as well as what i can do to resolve the problem. thank you very much for you time and hope to hear from you in the near future. *tr

Purchased new ford f-150 truck from dealership in april 2004. wavy distortions in the windshield were evident. reported defective windshield to dealership, which was then replaced in june 2004 (an approximate three week wait was required, because dealer reported that new windshields were not available.) second windshield was also distorted, and dealer in another state said that windshield should be replaced by dealer that had installed second windshield. third windshield replaced in january 2005, after six weeks of negotiations with ford. this third windshield also has the wavy defect. *ak
