Door windows do not operate up or down when pressing rocker switch - 2nd time for repair of problem. *tr

Door window will not operate up or down. *tr

While driving on the highway my driverside window came crashing down causing me to fishtail into the right lane causing other cars to slam on their brakes luckily no one was hurt. when i called ford and some other mechanics they said allot of people had the same problem and its probably going to happen again to the other window. but there's no recall because its not a emission or safety problem. ??? windows falling while driving on the hwy not a safety concern. well im just gonna have to keep paying $400 for window regulators to keep my family safe.... *tr

I own a 2004 f-150 crew cab ford truck. i have had to replace 3 of the 4 window regulators in this vehicle. each one has broken at different times. the ford dealerships replaced them at a cost of almost a thousand dollars for all three. the driver side window regulator is the only one so far not to break. currently it is making a grinding sound. all three have broken within the past twelve months. this is a great expense to me as well as a great danger. while driving down the road one window regulator broke and the window fell into the bottom of the door. one broke while the vehicle was not moving and the other one broke while i was raising the window up from being down. i have contacted the ford dealership about the problem. the service department admits that there needs to be a recall due to their being a wide scale problem with the window regulators breaking. at the same time ford refuses to issue a recall on the problem. ford motor company should be forced to issue a recall on the window regulators and be forced to reimburse owners of the expenses for having to replace the window regulators. once again, i have spent almost a thousand dollars to replace three window regulators. and the last window appears to be malfunctioning now. *tr

Door power window regulator fails (broken plastic piece) and door window glass falls into the door. this usually occurs while driving - see thousands of internet reports. this is a dangerous defect in the regulator that ford knows about and refuses to recall. repair part and labor cost approx $400 per window. i have had 2 window regulators fail so far! ford should be responsible for this. *tr

I was driving my 2004 ford f150 lariat on us 50 going west bound in heavy traffic around 5:30 in the evening driving 70 mph. i heard a loud pop (as if a gun was being fired), which startled me to where i swerved into the lane beside me. luckily there was not another car right beside me or else this would have definitely lead to an accident. i turned out to be something within in the electrical system of my driverside windows controls. the window fell down as soon as i heard the pop. i called one of the local ford dealers and was told that it would be about $400.00 to fix and that they have to fix this sort of problem all the time on the same makes and models of my truck. i then asked if there was a recall and was told that there was not. i am not able to afford repairs at this time, so i am having to just deal with the fact that i do not have a window on the driverside anymore. this whole incident could have caused a serious accident. ford should really do something about this before it does. *tr

All 4 windows regulators broke within a span of 4 months. window regulators have a steel cable which adheres to a plastic pulley--who designed this poor compatibility? common sense will tell you that this is not conducive to wear and tear for electric windows. vehicle is in excellent shape accept for this problem which as a consumer is unacceptable due to inferior products used. aluminum or another type of metal should have been used for the pulley--definitely not plastic. reported to ford--can't and won't do anything about this but tell me to take to ford dealer for repairs and pay an outrageous amount for the labor and regulator. i spoke with a local ford service manager and he revealed to me that ford knows this is a problem with several of their vehicles and also the lincolns but because of the cost incurred by issuing a recall that they chose to "wash it under the rug". this is an unacceptable excuse as far as i am concerned. 4 window regulators in a 4 month span to break--something needs to be addressed and brought to ford's management and design departments. *kb

2004 ford f-150 window regulator failure 2nd in 6 months/ both rear windows on supercrew truck. *tr

I'm a 16 year veteran in law enforcement. sometime in april 2011, i was driving down the road and my rear driver side window fell down inside the door. the window falling made a loud noise. i could hear the wind and i looked back and didn't see a window in the door. my first thought was someone shot the glass out. my attention to driving was lost for several seconds. i believe this to be a safety issue. i pulled over at the first parking lot i saw and realized the glass was not broken but had fallen inside the door. today 9/2/2011, i was repairing the rear window regulator and the front driver side window fell. i thought how ironic is this. i drove to the ford dealership and purchased the part and returned home. i have fixed both window regulators, but i feel this could cause a traffic crash. i searched the web for this repair and found several forums with people having this same issue. i would like to see ford address this issue. *tr

Tl * the contact owns a 2004 ford f-150. the contact stated that while trying to close the power window, he heard a popping noise and the window fell into the door panel. the contact mentioned that the failure occurred on three of the four windows. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the cables and the actuator assembly needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was out of warranty. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 85,000 and the current mileage was 92,000. updated 9/13/11 *cn the vehicle has since been repaired. updated 09/30/11*jb

Power window regulator failure on passenger side window of 2004 ford 150 crew cab. the window fails without warning and falls down inside of the door. this can be a problem if the failure occurs during inclement weather or while driving as it did with my truck. used a wood brace to hold window up with plastic to cover in case of rain and duct tape until parts arrived. no window visibility and possible theft problems. i park my truck outside at work and leave the work area so i never know what condition my truck will be in or if it will still be there when i return at the end of the day. until i have the part and time to fix this, i'm not sure what could happen. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 ford f150 sd. the contact stated that all four of the window regulators failed, causing the windows to become lodged into the door panel. the dealer was contacted who advised that the window regulators would need replacing. there were no recalls and for the failure. the manufacturer was contacted but provided no assistance. the failure mileage was 176,123.

I know have to replace my third window motor/regulator, this is not right. the first time i was driving and the window just dropped down. the second time same thing only it was raining, now this third time my daughter was in the back seat putting the window down and it dropped down causing her to scream (she is only 8) with her doing that i almost wrecked us all. i did not keep the parts from the first two but will keep the third when i get it fixed later this week. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 ford f150. while driving approximately 45 mph, the contact noticed that the driver side window had fractured without warning. he stated that the window regulator was faulty. the dealer advised the contact to notify the manufacturer of the failure. the manufacturer informed the contact that t was a known failure; however, did not offer any assistance. the current mileages were 61,000 and the failure mileages were 58,000.

I have a 2004 4-door f150, and have now had to replace 3 window motors, one in each door. the 3rd one happened yesterday. the first two happened back to back in 2010, so if the pattern follows, i'll be forking out more money to replace the final one. on the first 2 occurances, the car was moving, and the windows just fell down. the 3rd occurence happened when the car was parked. i have 2 small children, and if these windows fall down when they are near, it is a major concern of mine. there is a obvious sign that these window motors are defective. i can understand 1 of them breaking, but i'm going on 3, and just waiting for the final one to break here shortly! then after reading all the 2004/2005 f150 complaints about the same thing happening, there needs to be a recall because this isn't just a coincidence amongst all f150 owners! it's sad that ford cannot stand by their "so called" #1 selling truck. people spend a great deal on their cars, and this shouldn't be an issue that people need to be spending their hrad earned money on, especially since it seems to be a rather regular issue for so many people!

The drivers window fell down into the door while truck was moving. i was unable to get the window back up. i was in a remote location, driving over a snowy mountain pass. he window regulator failed, and i understand this is a common occurrence, and i can expect more of the same in the future. this is a potential for a crash as it is a startling event, and a serious immediate distraction. *tr

2004 ford f150 supercrew. for the 5th time one of the windows has dropped into the door due to the regulator malfunctioning. the first 3 times were covered by the extended warranty i purchased. however, this will be the second one i will have to pay for. each time, all ford does is replace the regulator and tell me i must have gotten a bad one. this is 5 windows in 5 years. *tr

2004 ford f150 power window regulator failure. i live in a hot and humid part of texas so windows are seldom rolled up and down. however this is the third window regulator to fail on this vehicle. each time there is a low pop and the window suddenly drops and you cannot roll it down. the 2nd time this happened it was the driver side window while i was driving on i-30, in downtown dallas in the pouring rain. try telling me that wasn't a safety issue! *tr

While driving in parking lot (approx. speed 5mph) driver side window fell into door and would not respond to electric window operation. window regulator replaced by ford dealer. within three months same exact thing happened to the drivers side rear window, result failed window regulator. at this moment vehicle is at ford dealer being repaired. *tr

The rear window passenger side of my 2004 f-150 lariat super cab came crashing down after a loud pop which startled my wife driving our grand daughter home from school with our three year old grandson sitting in the rear passenger seat in a car seat securely bucked which caused her to leave the road way. *tr

Just replaced my back passenger window motor/harness and now my front passenger window has done the same thing a month later. i have twin boys that i take with me on a regular base just a safety hazard i thought that would have or should have a recall. happened in my ford 2004 f150 fx4. the thing is i barely use the windows and i was on the highway my window just falls down thank god. my kids weren't with me. not safe and sounds like a lot of people have complained about the same thing on blogs and forms that i have read. also it cost almost 400 bucks to have it fixed ever time it happens not a cheap fix for a father of two. so im at 800. *tr

2004 f150 window regulator and nylon clip defective. 2 of 4 windows have come crashing down scratching the tint and ford dealer charging out the repair to my extended warranty. these window regulators are obviously defective and the dealer or manf. has done nothing to resolve. safety hazard. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving various speeds the right passenger side window suddenly fell inside the door and he was unable to close it . the vehicle was not inspected by the dealer nor had it been repaired. this failure occurred on the drivers side window one year prior and was inspected by a dealer who stated that the failure was due to a defective window regulator and needed to be replaced. the drivers side window regulator was replaced. the failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

Just driving down the road and the window came down by itself. this is the second power window to go out on our truck. had ford replace it once and need it done on the other door now. *tr

Driver side window fell down after i tried to roll it up, a few weeks later the back passenger window fell down by itself. *tr

Date of incident: 1/20/2011 vehicle: 2004 ford f-150 complaint: passenger window suddenly descended into door and shattered. driver side window had this issue in august of 2010. replaced by dealer at my cost (approx $400). internet search showed over 1000 complaints on this issue and no recall from ford. this is a potential safety issue and needs to be addressed by ford!! *tr

My girlfriend & i were driving our 2004 ford f-150 on the freeway going about 70 mph when we heard a really startling, loud bang & saw my drivers side window slam down into the door. i thought someone was shooting at the truck or something & swerved into other lanes in a panic. we were almost in a serious accident because of it. after taking the door panel off & seeing all the wire cables hanging there & broken plastic pieces i did some research & found thousands of complaints about the same thing. this is a safety issue for us & others. we were fortunate enough to not be injured or injure anybody else. from what i have read, we should expect it to happen again which really bothers me. we have 3 small children & if this had happened or happens again when they are in the car & we get into an accident, we all could get seriously injured or even killed. this is completely unacceptable & needs to be recalled immediately. ford needs to be held accountable for putting out faulty parts before someone gets hurt or killed. we know there is a problem, why hasn't anybody done anything about it is beyond me though. and to add insult to injury they are asking over $400 per window to replace with the same faulty part. i'm not positive, but i believe it will happen to my passenger side window soon too because it has not worked right since the first couple weeks i bought my truck, not even a full year ago & its been making noises. recall immediately please! *tr

Rear window fell causing air to rush in could not raise rear window, 1 year old child in baby seat in backseat. could have been catastrophic. no warning no way to raise window. read numerous instances of this same event happening to thousands of others with same model year and manufacturer. *tr

I have a ford f150 since new and continue to have problems with my windows - this is a 2004 fx4 model crew cab / with p/w . i have installed three power window switches now and today had my right rear window fall open when driving - with a very loud crash / bang noise - i thought someone hit me in the next lane and almost swerved to avoid a empty lane / i could have hit someone else or caused injury / this problem is very common i am finding out and yet ford wont help....if someone dies then maybe.... *tr

Recall 2004 ford f-150 power window regulators. rear drivers passenger window fell down while parked. the third window down in the last 15 months. *tr

Window regulators failing repeatedly. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving 15 mph, the front passenger side window fell into the door. the contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. the vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

While driving around 55 mph, front passenger window fell into the door with a loud slam. unable to use the window controls to raise the window. this is the 4th different window in this vehicle and final window to go within a year and a half. this is a 2004 ford f150 supercrew and the dealer states it is the window regulator as was the case in the other window failures. they say the regulator part (small plastic piece) that fails is normal wear and tear, however they no longer make that part, they have changed manufactures and the new part should not do this. the motor and the regulator are still good, however you must purchase both of these in order to get the new plastic piece, which is now an all inclusive part around 200.00 at dealer. *trf

2004 ford f-150 power window regulator fails on both windows. one failed while i was driving and the other failed while the truck was parked. i understand there are allot of complaints of this happening but,yet you have not forced ford to correct this problem. *tr

I have had my second window regulator failure on my ford f150 2004 supercrew. this auto only has 80,000 miles and this has happened twice in 6 months. i feel this is dangerous and they need to be recalled before someone gets hurt or property damage. *tr

In 2009 i had a window regulator replaced in the rear of my 2004 f150 fx4 behind the passenger seat this year in june the rear window regulator behind the driver had to be replaced, and now in november the rear passenger regulator has again failed in less that 18 months. in both instances they were replaced under a warranty i bought at hall ford in newport news and paid each time a $100 deductible to have it repaired. i find it unreasonable that a part would fail three time in 17 months and since ford is the only company that makes the part i can find i have no choice but to get another ford branded part that i feel will just once again fail on me. there are many complaints on this on not only forums, but the nhtsa has received many reports of this issue. after contacting ford directly and getting canned responses that there is "no recall" "no programs" and "no warranty". i feel as if there is an issue with either the design of the part or the materials used in the manufacturing of the part that is causing some kind of fault resulting in the failure and ultimately the replacement of the window regulator with a ford part only of the same design. *tr

I own a 2004 f 150 4 door supercrew and all 4 windows regulators have failed on their own. i had three fail within days of each other about a year ago. now, today the fourth one failed. each time one failed i was driving down the highway at 65 mph and the window slams down scaring the heck out of me. luckily i've been able to maintain control of my truck. the problem is always the steel cable gets kinked up on its own and snaps or kinks up so bad it can not be reused. each time its a 300 dollar fix so when i replace this last one i'll be about 1200 dollars out. i finally looked on the internet and found out that this problem is common and ford will not own up to their responsibility. i don't know it this is a design flaw by ford or the supplier to ford that makes the window regulator but i do know there has been no recall and that you cannot buy the parts you need except at ford parts dealers only. since ford doesn't seem to care to fix this problem i am never buying another ford. *tr

This is unbelievable that ford can get away with these junk regulators on my 2004 ford f150 supercrew !!!!! my daughter was looking out over the rear window holding on to it, and laughing at me while i was washing the truck when the [xxx] thing just broke causing her to fall and hit her face off the door panel !!! then i go online and find 1000's of complaints that ford won't do anything about, so now i have to repair this at my own expense. ford needs to replace these before someone else gets hurt !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)*tr

In less than one year i have had to replace three windows in my 2004 f-150. the windows would just fall inside the door and the mechanism no longer worked. as i researched online, i noticed there were numerous complaints for this make, model and year. i feel this should have been a recall. i hope ford motor company looks into this and we will all be reimbursed for our expenses. thank you. *tr

The drivers window regulator failed while driving, and the window came crashing down. i was not using or adjusting the window in any way prior to failure. the weather was cold and wet leaving water damage to the interior and causing difficulty driving in the adverse conditions. i was not dressed to be in 60 mph cold blasting air and my hands were having problems steering. the dealer did not accept responsibility for this. ford contacted me and accepted responsibility but only wanted to pay for 50% of the repair cost. this is not acceptable. my vehicle has very low miles and is in like new condition. after investigating the issue with the regulator, i was amazed that there are many thousands of ford owners with this same issue. and '04-08 f150's have the vast majority of complaints about this problem. many have had multiple windows fail. i had to replace the regulator myself as the costs to get this done is over $500 at the dealer, and over $400 at a repair shop. when i removed the regulator i was shocked at how poorly the parts were made. the design looks to be flawed as well. clips that can fall off. cables that can fall off small plastic wheels. and the power motor reels two cables up together. this is going to bind up and fail in a very short period of time. the motor reel had both cables tangled when i pulled it out. it appears to be designed to fail. this is a very heavy piece of glass, and the mechanism supporting this assembly is completely insufficient. it is obvious that it was not designed for extended use.

2004 ford f150 supercrew. window regulator failure, resulting in a loud crashing sound while driving the vehicle; once almost resulting in a crash. this has happened with 3 regulators now. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 ford f150. while driving approximately 50 mph, the front driver side window suddenly dropped into the door panel. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician advised that the window track inside the door needed to be replaced. the failure later recurred on the front passenger side window and rear driver side window. the front driver and passenger side window tracks were replaced. the rear driver side window tracks were not replaced. the vehicle was not further repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

I have a 2004 ford f-150 lariat supercrew 4 door truck. each of the past 3 years i've had 3 window regulators break. to the day they are still not fixed because of cost issues, almost $200 each not including the $140 labor bill. what breaks is the plastic part that the cable is connected to. the first 2 window regulators broke quietly while the 3rd one made 2 loud pops and the window fell down. it is now winter and i hope the 4th and final window doesn't break. the ford service department told me they are sold as a whole unit, motor, track and cable. the motors don't go bad, the plastic piece in the track breaks. currently i have plastic pvc pipe propping the window up on the 3 windows. very much an inconvenience when you drive up to a drive thru window and never know when your windows going to give out. *tr

Power window regulators have a faulty plastic piece in them causing the window to just drop unexpectantly. i have read in some cases the window breaks. i have had two bad regulators go out now in an 8 week period and have a four door truck. i'm sure the other two are soon to follow *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 ford f-150 heritage. while driving 50 mph, the driver side window fell into the door. the vehicle slid down as if it had been rolled down but with more force. the vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. the current and failure mileages were 46,952.

I'm not the first to report this problem and surely won't be the last; i was on my lunch break when i pushed the button to roll down my passenger side rear window then pow it happened. yep, the[xxx] window fell inside the door. i proceeded to roll up the window, but only heard a grinding noise inside the door. sound familiar?? the window will not roll up and is stuck in the open position. ford says it will cost 400 or so dollars it costs to fix it. i'm going to hold out 'til ford realizes they've mass produced a buncha [xxx] parts and has a recall on them! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Passenger side window just fell into the door it appears to be a regulator failure. *tr

Drivers side window fell while driving. *tr

I have a 2004 ford f-150 and all my windows have fail the first window fall down when the truck was 50,000 miles or less the other windows fail on the next 25,000 miles now my truck has 80,000 miles and is out of warranty and today 11-6-2010 again one more window fall down the track and don't go up. *tr
