I own a 2004 ford f-50 super crew, and my rear passenger window fell inside the door without anyone using it and without warning. this is the second window regulator i have had to replace, both in the rear of the vehicle on windows that very rarely get actuated. *tr
Failed window regulator. actually the third over 1 year. first the drivers side window regulator failed, plastic slide became brittle, cable broke away and smacked the inside of the door hard enough that it scared me...i thought i had been shot at by a gun! did not lose control of the vehicle but if i had been in congested traffic, i might have. that was may 30, 2009. exactly one month later on june 30, 2009 the passenger side front door window dropped out of sight while driving along. today 6/29/2010, the third window drops out of sight on the driver's side rear door of my fx4. this time, it was raining. i had to drive home and cover the vehicle to avoid more water damage. *tr
Two separate window regulators on my 2004 ford f-150 were defective in the past year. *tr
Window regulator failure on 2004 ford f150 fx4 extended cab on driverside front window. occurred while driving distracted driver and nearly caused accident. *tr
My 2004 ford f150 has had both rear window regulators fail within 30 days. the first failed on its own. like others, i walked up to my truck and found the window down on the first failure. the second broke yesterday when i attempted to lower the window. i am a loyal ford customer. i am 44 years old and between me, my wife , and child, we have owned a total of 14 ford products. i am very concerned with the amount of complaints i am seeing with this product. if ford does not make this right by conducting a recall, they will be losing many very loyal customers. *tr
This is the 3rd time to have a window regulator fail. i have to take my granddaughter to school and could not keep the window up thus allowing her to have access to a down window during the drive. it took ford 4 days to get to me for the repair each time. *tr
Ford f-150 pickup truck .heard loud pop in front passenger side door. front passenger window dropped open going 65mph . unable to secure vehicle - had infant with me . also 96 degree summer day with thunderstorms . power window will not go up!! this is very dangerous !!! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 ford f-150. he stated that while driving 55 mph the front and rear windows fell inside the door. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that the window regulator was broken and needed to be replaced. however, the failure recurred twice. the repairs were done three times to the vehicle at a cost to the owner. the manufacturer was contacted and a complaint filed. the failure and current mileages were 132,000.
Window regulator failure on all four doors, without warning windows will fall down and are inoperable after that. had to take to dealer for fix with average cost per window $400. *tr
Came out to my car after work and the window was down. it had rained that afternoon the whole truck was wet. i tried to roll it up and the window made an awful grinding noise like there was sand or glass caught in the gears. on my way home it started to rain again. the rain blew in the window and i couldn't drive. i pulled over and had to wait for it to stop while the rain poured into my car. i went to ford for advice and the mechanic got in my car pushed the switch for no more than 1 second, told me it was a common repair, the regulator, and told me it was $400.00 to repair the issue. i know other ford owners who have had the same problem and the same experience with ford. this is absurd! *tr
We have had three window regulators in our 2004 ford f-150 break. we'll drive over a bump, and the window will fall and shatter. extremely dangerous! *tr
I have had to replace 3 window regulators on my 2004 f-150 supercrew and just yesterday another one went out. i was backing out of my driveway i heard a loud bang like someone had thrown a rock at the door on drivers side and i knew immediately what it was. as i drove away lo and behold the window came crashing down. i can't believe how often this has occurred to others that i know local dealership says sorry , but your in luck we have those in stock what a joke i'm out $140 and about 2 hours again i'm getting better i think i'm gonna change professions with the frequency that this happens in the south texas heat. *tr
I have a 2004 ford f150. driving home from work the road the right rear window fell down into the door. i cannot leave my truck outside overnight with the window down so i had to disassemble the door to fix the window up. the cable attachments in the regulator had broken allowing the window to fall. had i been going somewhere other than home this would be a significant safety issue. if it was on the highway it could be dangerous. what if my small children were back there when it fell? *tr
Complete and unexpected 2004 ford driver-side power window regulator failure, consisting of sudden glass pane window drop while at speed of 65mph accompanied by loud boom noise. - this experience was quite unnerving, and nearly caused me to veer into another lane occupied by other vehicles. - apparently ford is well aware of this ongoing situation regarding these window components, yet refuses to do anything about it. *tr
F150 window regulators.. i own an 2004 f150 and this is the 2nd window regulator that has gone out in recent years.. fortunately, noone was sitting in the particular set that failed.. this is serious safe hazard and windows should not be failing on there own like that.. please help with this issue concern ford f150.. *tr
In 2009, my 2004 ford f-150 trucks rear driver's side window fell inside the door just as i returned home with both of my toddler children in car seats in the back seat. the glass did not break, but it was a frightening experience for myself and my daughters. i took the truck to my local ford dealership where i bought the truck from and where i also have the truck serviced and i was charged $400 for the window to be repaired. just this month (june 2010), my right front passenger's window fell inside the door while i was at work. luckily, nothing was stolen from the truck and no one was injured. when i took the truck again to the same dealership, they again told me it would be another $400 to repair it. i complained and they said there was nothing they could do about it. i am very upset about this incident. i have bought ford vehicles since i first got my driver's license 20 years ago and i am very upset by the way ford has treated it's customers. i just hope that the next two windows that have not fallen yet will not injure me, my wife or my children when they decide to fall. *tr
I have now replaced both the front driver and passenger side window regulators on my 2004 f150 lariat. the driver-side window fell in june 2009 @127k mi. the passenger-side windows fell today (6/17/2010) @ 149k miles. the costs of replacing the regulator in each case were as follows: passenger side: $$539.47 driver side: $500.00 given all the reported incidents of this that i am seeing reported on various websites and forums, i strongly recommend that the nhtsa. demand a manufacturer's recall for this obvious quality defect that is: 1) costly to repair 2) creates a dangerous in-car situation when it occurs during operation of the vehicle. In june 2010 the driver's side rear window made a bang and the window slid down into the door frame. dealership charged me $480 for a new regulator as i'm out of my warranty period. 2 months later, august, the driver's window did the same thing. this time took it to my mechanic and it ran me $230. then 2-months after that, october, the passenger's side front window made a bang and it went down into the door frame. 3 windows in 6-months and i'm the only one who rides in my truck so all the windows except for the drivers side get very little usage. based on the number of complaints registered here, i would think someone would demand ford implement a recall. *tr
I have a 2004 ford truck f -150 . i have two windows on passenger side . fall down into door. these windows were rarely use .they both fell within a short time of each other. so i call the dealer told about my problem . before i could tell him the year of the truck .he said let me guess you have a 2004 model. so i ask if there was recall he said no. this a safety issue . ford knows this was a defected part .my other window on rear drivers side is making a noise . now i don't use my windows of fear they may fall to . to fix at dealer about 300 per window.something needs to be done . god forbid if a kid was leaning on a window and hit the down button all fell out . mine gave no warning just fell down. all the way into door . you have to take the door apart just to pull it up to brace it somehow. i have only owned ford trucks .this is the first time i have a problem like this . this is clearly a defected part it should have been recalled. *tr
Change window regulator 2004 f150 lariat driver side rear window. *tr
I have a 2004 f150 lariat and in 2007 my pass rear window fell down, so here i am riding on the expressway and the outside temperature is about 97 degrees when i here this noise from the rear and good thing i do not scare easily or it would have been a terrible accident. i went to the dealer and i was told it would be $500.00 to fix it. so here it is 2010 and the other rear door window has done the same thing, not sure what it will cost this time but i can see there is no recall on this item. *tr
I was driving my 2004 ford f150 supercrew truck. i just turned on the aircondition because it was over 90 degrees outside. i lowered the rear windows to help cool the inside quicker. i heard this loud thud and then a grinding sound as the windows are lowered. i got worried. i then raised the windows and while the right rear window went up, the left rear window did not. instead i heard a grinding sound again. i noticed that the left window is still open. i decided to leave it open since my destination is close by. when i got to my destination, i tried to operate the windows a couple more times to try to close it, but nothing was happening. since i'm worried that something may happen to the truck and everything i had inside, i decided to sleep in the back seat of the truck that night. the following day, i searched the internet to find out how to remove the door panel to determine the problem. i found out instead that there were a lot of complaints regarding the window regulator on 2004 and 2005 f150, in addition to the information i wanted. when i opened the door panel, i found out that the cable is loose and bent. the plastic window regulator has mangled the cable, leaving the window down. i'm now trying to find out how to remove the window regulator to replace it. *tr
The window regulators in my 2004 ford f-150 are no good. 3 out of 4 have messed up. the window just falls and shatters. the front window is being held up now by tape and wedges. we don't have the money to replace it right now. *tr
While driving the drivers side window fell down into the door. later investigation indicates that the window regulator broke for no apparent reason allowing the window to fall. *tr
Bought 2004 ford f-150 lariat s.crew 4x4 dec.2004. have had to replace the window regulators in three windows now @ $400 a pop. went out this morning and f-in window down again front pass.side. i am so fed up with this and it is costing a fortune! please recall! recall! *tr
Driver side window in 2004 ford f150 began squeaking and grinding when going up and down, about 6 months ago. today the window made a loud crunching sound and the glass fell in to the door. *tr
Driving and heard a "pop sound" then notice that the window had completely fell into the door panel. power window regulator motor going out, 2004 ford f150. now all window motors (4) have broken within the last 16months. taken the truck to the dealership all times due to the difficult work that needs to be done by a trained mechanic. cost for a single window $389.00. *tr
I have a 2004 ford f150 that has four doors with a crew cab. all four window regulators have failed on the truck while i was driving the vehicle. even the back windows have filed and they are not used at all. this has the potential to cause a safety incident if the window were to shatter and glass come inside the cabin. i have replaced 2 of the four regulators and they are poorly designed. something needs to be done to make ford motor company own up to the poor design and safety concern. *tr
This the first time this has happened to me, window regulator broke. not sure why or how it happened. tried to open the window, then it just fell/ slammed inside the door.kind of freaked me out. i've been on line and found several other people having this problem. *tr
2004 ford f-150 super crew drivers side power window and rear passenger side power window failure within two weeks of each other at 42,000 miles. the drivers side window gets used a lot, and the rear passenger side window is seldom used. unable to immediately pay $350 per window to repair, so i'm putting up with moisture/visibility issues on the inside of the windshield, weather challenges, and deafening buffeting at freeway speeds. the ford dealer told me that although the window motor still runs, the cable system used to raise and lower the window gets irretrievably sucked into the motor or damaged necessitating replacing the entire motor/regulator unit. also, that it may be riveted in place rather than bolted, requiring special riveting tools to facilitate the repair. this is not safe for my grandchildren and myself driving with the windows down, enduring deafening buffeting, weather extremes, and road hazards, let alone visibility issues due to window fogging. *tr
This is the third time the window regulator on my 2004 ford supercrew window has failed causing my window to fall down into the door. the first time the vehicle only had 40000 miles on it and was fairly new. when i called ford i was told this was a known issue with this model. this last time it was at roughly 84000 miles. i am a state trooper who works many crashes every day. i know this is a very serious safety issue for the driver. when the window falls, air blows into the window causing contents of the vehicle to fly about. this seriously distracts the driver and can cause visibility issues (papers flying onto the windshield). even worse an unproperly restrained child can fall out the window. i have contacted the ford mechanics about this issue and they all agree it should have been recalled years ago. the service advisors already know the exact amount of cost for the replacement due to the frequency of it happening. approx $400.00 what is it going to take-a life lost for the problem to be corrected? *tr
While on a 700 mile trip, driving at night in heavy rain, i heard a loud pop on my driver's side door. i wasn't sure what it was, but everything seemed ok. after stopping at a gas station and closing my door, the window fell down into the door. what had happened was the window regulator's pulley had broke causing the metal wire to snap out and the window fall down. fortunately, i had tools with me and was able to temporarily hold the window in place with a pair of vise-grips until i could get home and replace the window regulator track. my concern is what could have happened had my window fell down while driving at night in the heavy rain. i could have easily been distracted causing a momentary lose of control of the vehicle resulting in a collision. *tr
I have had 3 power window regulators fail on my 2004 f-150. the first was in february of 2008 (front drivers) then in february of 2010 the back drivers and today the back passengers where my 2 year old was at in her car seat. it scared her so bad she wouldn't stop crying for 20 minutes or so. i have only been able to have the front drivers replaced because i don't have the money for the others. they are just "shimmied" into the up position. *tr
I had no warning at all before the power window crank broke on my 2004 f-150 it is stuck down with no way for me to roll my window up and it sounds like the window is going to break in the door i have not had any time to fix this part or the money to take it to the shop to get it fixed. i was just reading around the internet on how to fix it and have ready multiple stories of this being a problem on this model of truck. *tr
The windows fall down in our ford f150. we have not had the problem fixed at this time because it is expensive to repair. *tr
On 6-1-10 the passenger side power window failed on my 2004 ford f-150 truck. on 7-31-10 the drivers side window also failed. on each occasion the failure was preceded by an alarming bang from the door, on each occasion loss of vehicle control was narrowly avoided. these failures were fixed at ford dealers totaling $ 656.00 on both occasions the dealer retained the failed parts. *tr
The window regulator on front driver side is broken and it only has 39,000 miles. this is an expensive repair and the duct tape clashes with the lariat trim. *tr
I have a 2004 ford f150 and the passenger side window regulator has broken. last year about the same time of the year my drivers side regulator broke. i have asthma and it is a health problem for me with the heat and ozone to have to drive with a window down. *tr
The power window regulator/motor on my 2004 f150 crew cab driver side door made a discouraging breaking sound yesterday when i tried to put the window down. i have since learned that this is a rear problem with this vehicle and motor assembly. i have read numerous complaints already filed. why has not ford been required to recall these vehicles to repair this problem. i will be taking the vehicle to a local ford dealer for an estimate but reports indicate that this is going to be expensive. please add this complaint to all others and maybe ford should be required to make these repairs. we have trusted ford to provide a quality vehicle but not our trust is misplaced. Driver door power window fell into door, will not come back up. motor sounds as if it's running, but window does not come up, also some noise from inside door panel sounds like parts rattling around when window motor runs. *tr
I have a 2004 ford f150 pickup truck. three of the four power window regulators have failed spectacularly. the windows crash down into to the door without warning and my babies have been in their car seats right next to them. they have to be replaced for at least $350 each. and i have three!! *tr
Ford f150 front window. about, one year ago our front driver side window failed we had to replace the working mechanism ($350.00 ), yesterday our driver side passenger side window mechanism stopped working. i really think that for nhtsa to work for the consumer you need to listen to us. this will be another 350.00 fix. i wonder what you would do if it was your truck or your daughter, wife, or mother?? we need you to look out for us too!! p.s i will be sure to keep the old parts that have to be replaced if you would like it. *tr
May 26, 2010 front pax window goes down on it own while driving. window will not come back up noise in door. same as the rear window in april. check the internet of possible issue see that the window regulator is breaking on many 2004-2005 f150 trucks. *tr
2004 ford f-150 a power window regulator failure is a huge safety problem . because the window regulator fails, the window come crashing down. some complaints read of the glass actually shattering and falling all over the highway. others were on road trips out of reach of a repair shop. but worst of all, like myself. it's having children and pets in the vehicle with you while this happens. what if you dog decides to jump? what if you kid gets out of his/her seat? what about children throwing things out the window? what about driving in bad weather and having your view become obstructed by sideways rain or worse? it's also a theft issue. no one knows when it's going to happen and what can you do about. pray that someone doesn't seize the opportunity to steal your truck? you think your insurance is going to cover you against theft when they would say you were negligent for leaving the window open? *tr
