We have classified the 205 complaints from 2004 Ford F-150 about VISIBILITY into the following categories.
2004 f150 supercrew - passenger side rear window fell into door. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 ford f-150. the contact stated that all four windows would not open. the contact stated that all of the windows failed within three months. a mechanic inspected the vehicle and stated that the window regulator failed and would need replacing. the failure mileage was 44,000 and the current mileage was 46,000.
Window regulator fail on my 2004 ford f150 pickup. this the 3rd window regulator that has failed. the dealer charges 380 dollars to replace. *tr
I have a 2004 ford f150 and have had to have (2) power window regulators replaced and now the third has failed. twice the parts failed while driving on the highway with my kids in the car. ford should be forced to recall the item and refund any dollars spent previously repairing them. *tr
Windows fell into panel of truck door, due to defective window regulator installed in 2004 f150. this is not very safe for anyone in the car or other cars driving near your vehicle. this happened to the drivers window in october of 2009 and now in may 2010 on both passenger side windows within 2 days of each other. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 ford f-150. while traveling at 70 mph, the contact stated there was an abnormal pop. the driver side window had fallen into the door panel. the vehicle was neither diagnosed nor repaired. the failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 75,000.
2004 f-150 lariat.......driving down the road @ 55 mph and it sounded like a rock hit my rear window. i swerved and thankfully no one was next to me. then i started hearing the wind in the back seat and i looked back and the window was open half way. when i pulled over it fell in the door so i had to drive it home the way it was. that was when i had 38,352 miles on it. the second time i was washing the truck and moved to the passengers side and opened the door and the drivers window fell in the door. how humiliating and unsafe. the date below is the last time it happened. ford should recall these trucks and replace all for window regulators. *tr
I have had all 4 window regulators fail in my 2004 f-150 super crew. one of the 4, fell slowly, but the other three dropped suddenly and violently, causing a me to be startled while driving. thankfully no accident occurred in any of the 4 incidents. however, two of the incidents occurred in below freezing weather and a rain storm, creating unsafe driving conditions until i could get the vehicle to the dealership for repair. ford is aware of this problem and refuses to accept responsibility for the defective regulators. they claim it is not a safety issue and there has not been a recall. i beg to differ whether it is a safety issue. the window has dropped suddenly while i was driving, sounding as if the window was shattered. being startled while driving is a safety concern as well as possibly having to drive with the window dropped in adverse weather conditions. *tr
Window regulators on my four door 2004 ford f150. regulator, which controls window going up and down, fails. window will not work nor, stay up after failure. ford dealer replaces regulator at $375.00 per window, per occurrence. no prior events, to my knowledge, leads up to the failure. you will hear a "crunching" sound when regulator fails and window drops into car door. *tr
2 front windows stop working. one fell in to door. last year replaced passenger window. *tr
The 3rd window regulator in my ford 150 has failed. all have dropped while driving down a road. two on a freeway. i have small children and don't need them that close to an open window. i have had two regulators replaced in the past 1.5 years and now need to have another one replaced! *tr
Driver side window suddenly stopped working and dropped down into the door. loud sound and sudden rush of air from the open window is a startling and dangerous distraction from driving. there are numerous instances on internet chats and forums of sudden malfunction of the window mechanism in the 2004 ford f150. *tr
On 9 may 2010 traveling on i-64 around norfolk at between 65 mph and 70 mph in heavy traffic, driver's side window suddenly and unexpectedly dropped down into the door causing an unexpected drag on the vehicle and forcing near loss of control. apparently the electric window regulator failed in an unexpected and dangerous manner. *tr
I have a ford f150 2004 with only 45000 miles and the windows in the rear dropped will driving and my 8 year old son was sitting in the back seat. this is the second time. i am afraid this will become an extreme hazard and someone will end up hurt. ford needs to fix this problem... its will...if it hasn't already cost someone to crash and possibly lose a life. *tr
Two weeks ago i was driving home from work across the monitor merimack bridge tunnel in hampton roads virginia at 58 mph and the rear window began to go down without the control switch being used. it startled me and i swerved over and almost hit the car beside me. i had to get it repaired and it cost $454. this morning i was driving to work in the rain and the same thing happened to the right passenger side window and now it will not go up. the parts must be defective because i have only had that window down three times in six years and i have never had the rear window down that broke at first. *tr
I have replaced 3 faulty door window regulators and a 4th one just broke. this results in the door glass to suddenly fall down inside the door. i feel that these failures could be potentially dangerous. this sudden and startling occurrence can cause drivers to become distracted resulting in accidents. *tr
I was driving down i-85 south heading towards lagrange, ga at approx. 65 mph and my rear window just fell all the way down. it scared the living daylights out of me because i thought the rear door had opened up. i took it to the shop and was told that the regulator went out. i explained that the rear window is hardly ever used and my mechanic stated that there have been a lot of issues with ford and this specific problem. the repair was $ 294 dollars, but the bigger concern is that my recent inquiry of the internet leads me to believe that this is not an isolated incident. there have been thousands of complaints and nhtsa has made a recommendation to ford to recall these defective regulators, however, to date, they have ignored said recommendation. i believe this not only to be a defect, but also a safety issue. please consider reviewing your recommendation to ford and make it a mandatory recall. thank you! *tr
The power window regulators on the rear doors of my 2004 f-150 supercrew have both failed within a years' time. this failure causes the window to drop down inside the door. it is a safety concern, as it happened while my children were riding in the back seat. there is no way to easily raise the window without taking it to a mechanic. *tr
The driver side window regulator broke while rolling up the window so that the window cannot be rolled back up. the regulator can be replaced at a cost of around $350-$400. *tr
2004 ford f-150 lariat broken power window regulators driver side. pu was parked on my driveway overnight. i thought somebody broke in but no broken glass and window motor is still running. *tr
Power window came crashing down while driving in a storm. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 ford f150. while driving 75 mph, the rear passenger window fell into the door housing. the contact stated that the failure had occurred with each window in the vehicle at least once. the dealer was contacted and scheduled an appointment to repair the vehicle. the failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 51,000.
I own a 2004 ford f-150 pickup truck with 75,000 miles. i have had the regulator fail on all four windows on this truck. when this has happened, i have had to drive the vehicle for days with the window down or taped up at times in driving rain and freezing temperatures. when the drivers window failed and fell into the door frame, i was driving 70 mph on a freeway and almost swerved into another lane. the regulators for the two passenger windows just failed within a 3 week period. *tr
2004 ford f150 xlt supercrew driver's side rear power window regulator failed while driving home from work today, 4/21/2010. the window luckily just dropped into the door without shattering, but i am now faced with an expensive repair. luckily, i am mechanically able to replace the parts myself at home, but this could have been bad had this happened while away from home, or with any of my grandchildren in the truck, had the window shattered as some have reported. i can't understand why ford has not been forced into a safety recall with as many complaints as there are concerning this issue! i just finished ordering the replacement part(s) from my local ford dealer. i will keep the old regulator assembly for a period of time should anyone from the nhtsa request to inspect it. thanks! *tr
2004 ford f150 four door, driving down the road and the passenger window falls down, some cheap cable break, next day the back passenger window same thing, one week later the drivers side passenger window same thing. i have had to prop them up in place because ford wants almost $400.00 a window to fix. *tr
When truck was started, left rear window of 2004 f150 crew cab slowly went down all by itself, no button was pushed. wouldn't return to up position. truck was bought used in january 2010 and this is the first time, so far, to happen. ordering replacement part to fix. will keep old part. *tr
I have a 2004 ford f-150 lariat super crew truck that has had to have 3 out of 4 window motors replaced. the windows just stop working and a new motor has to be installed. *tr
The 1st time it happened i was driving down the road and the rear drivers side window just dropped into the door. i took it to a local dealer and they told me that the regulator was bad so i had to replace the regulator. the 2nd time it happened an individual riding in the back was rolling down the back passenger window when the window dropped into the door again. once again i took it to a local dealer and i was told that the regulator on this window had to be replaced. the 3rd time it happened i was driving down the interstate and the drivers window suddenly dropped into the door and this one was within 30 days of having the 2nd window fixed. once again i went to a local dealer and the regulator on this window was bad as well. yesterday i was leaving work and started to roll down my windows when the passenger window suddenly dropped into the door. once again i took my truck to a local dealer and was told that the regulator was bad. i am filing this complaint because 4 window regulators going bad within 15 months of each other should not be acceptable. plus i have 3 small children and what if they would have been with me and the weather was bad outside. everytime that the incidents have happened i have been fortunate to not have my family with me. i have done some research and it seems this is a pretty common issue plus the dealer has told me that this is a problem that they see regularly. *tr
2004 f-150 power window regulator failure. *tr
I pushed the button to lower my drivers side window on my 2004 ford f150 supercrew xlt yesterday and after hearing a loud "pop" my door glass quickly feel down inside the door. the window regulator motor still worked, but it just made a grinding noise and wouldn't move the glass. the sudden failure of the window startled me and i ran off the roadway and almost crashed my truck. i took the door apart and inspected the regulator and the entire cable mechanism had separated in 3 places. the connection to the motor along with two other connections. the only fix is window regulator replacement. i ordered a replacement regulator from a local auto parts store. when i compared the new one to the original i observed a major difference. the new one had copious amounts of lubricant on the guides, cables and pulleys. the original regulator mechanism was completely dry with no evidence of any type of lubrication. was the lack of lubrication a factor in the failure? i am not sure. but, i did find evidence of metal on metal. i plan on repairing the problem myself with an aftermarket oem part. this is due to the numerous repeated failures of ford window regulators that have been documented online. this is a serious safety issue! when i bought this truck new the sliding back glass did not work before i drove it off the dealership lot. the dealer replaced the motor, switch, cable mechanism and eventually replaced the entire rear window before the problem was resolved. after conducting research online i have found hundreds of complaints of ford f150 truck owners who have experienced power window regulator failures. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 ford f150. the front passenger and both rear window regulators failed. the manufacturer advised they did not have any similar complaints and would not provide any assistance. the vehicle was repaired at the contact's expense. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 79,000 and the current mileage was 82,000.
2004 ford f150 power window failures, windows drop down into the door. *tr
2004 ford f150 supercrew 4 door - window motor/cable failure. i started to "roll" the passenger door front window down and immediately the window just dropped all the way inside the door leaving no window available on that door. no window, no protection from the weather, no security, etc. the window would not come up and remained down inside the door. i've read about this as a common problem that looks like a real obvious recall situation. please make ford responsible for this failure as it apparently can happen over and over because of inferior parts. this is my first occurence in my 23 months of ownership - thank goodness. there are so many similar reports and i ask that you be fair to the consumers and force ford to recall these parts with a suitable replacement part. please treat them equal with toyota and any other manufacturer. ford has a bad door cable or mechanism and they should be held responsible for this issue. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 ford f-150. the contact stated that the front driver side window and the front passenger side window had been replaced because both windows opened and dropped into the door panel independently. in order to repair the failure, the window regulators were replaced. the contact stated that the component was manufactured of plastic and could fail easily. the dealer stated that the failure was common but there were no recalls for the vehicle. the contact purchased two window regulators and made the necessary repairs. the failure mileage was 55,000 and the current mileage was 64,000. updated 08/28/12*lj updated 08/29/12
I have a 2004 ford f-150 supercrew 2wd truck. i was driving down the road the other day and tried to put my driver side window down. when i pressed the power button the window made a loud grinding sound then the window itself fell down into the door. i was unable to get it back up and had to leave it down for 4 days before i had time to take the side panel off and see that the factory power window regulator cables had become tangled inside its pulley. i did a search online and found that im not the only one who has had this problem. after seeing well over 1000 complaints on this same problem i decided to file my own complaint, hoping that ford does a recall so this doesn't happen to anyone else. *tr
Two windows fell down into door while driving, window regulators on my 2004 ford f150 defective almost caused me to crash vehicle.front passengerside window and then three days later driverside rear windowfalls down called ford and they have not recognized defect with the part causing problem but they have changed part number three times. *tr
Driving home from work rolled windows down to air out car. got home which is a 1 mile away, lh rear window would not raise. lh front happened about 1 year prior. can't drive vehicle due to the security issue. window regulator is being replaced. i have old parts. *tr
I'm the owner of a 2004 f-150. i've paid $1,000.00 for two window repairs that fell out of no where at 54000 miles and then again at 54250. i never reported this problem until now because i've got a 3rd fallen window and felt it should be reported and found this website. not to mention that the windows do not go up or down!! the first time was when my daughter was driving on the interstate and the drivers window fell and scared the heck out of her. got it fixed for $500.00. well guess what? two weeks later she called screaming with fear that it sounded like someone had shot out the passenger window on the highway because the passengers window fell, another $500.00. now, sunday april 11, 2010, the back passenger window fell and is being held up with duct tape, i don't have another $500.00 for the repair. how can this be o.k.?? *tr
2004 ford f150 drivers window fell in, it was pouring rain. very upset. i see there are many complaints about this problem, should be a recall. *tr
No events leading to failure passenger side window regulator went out, causing the entire window to drop to the bottom of the door. vehicle unsafe, child may fall out of window, ect. window regulator must be replaced. occurs often. *tr
I own a 2004 ford f150 lariat pickup supercrew model, 3 windows have fallen down into the door enclosure while driving, the window regulator has failed on all 3 doors, except the drivers side. *tr
On april 6,2010 driving and went to open driver side window heard a loud pop window dropped down. took to repair shop where mechanic found mechanism was faulty ie cable broke. replaced the mechanism for $292.00. on april 7, 2010 at 3pm my daughter went to roll her down again a pop and the window dropped. i am taking truck to mechanic tomorrow to have fixed. i assume it will be another $292.00. i only have 48,000 miles on my truck and will keep faulty parts. *tr
Three power windows failed on 3 different occasions on my ford truck. while i was driving i herd a loud pop,it sounded like a gun shot and almost caused me to have an accident as i slowed quickly. then i found the window had rolled down on its own while it was raining . the window dropped down inside the door and i could not get it out from the door. it was raining and getting in the truck. the other 2 windows broke while rolling them up. again herd loud pop and the windows fall. i have shimes holding my windows up while i investigate this matter. i cannot lock my truck and you never know the situation when the window breaks ie... weather, how far away from home, the damage to the interior, the danger of others in the vehicle. i found blogs on the net with alot of other people having this same problem. i might fix the problem myself or take it to the shop. i found you cant by the rear window part at retailer. *tr
Driving down the road and heard a loud pop. window falls down. the new part is 170.00. *tr
I was driving on the highway when i heard a noise like when you have one window down but i was driving alone and so i know i didn't roll down a window and when i looked back, the passenger side rear window was falling down into the door. i tried pushing the power window button to try to get it to close but had no luck, just a rumbling noise. i was very upset because this is the 2nd time in less than a year that this has happened to my 2004 ford f-150 truck. it is very expensive to repair and i think ford should issue a recall since i know at least 2 other people that this has happened to. *tr
April 3, 2010, rear pax window goes down with noise, does not come back up. take it to ford, who replaces the regulator, with no comment on that it is an issue. *tr
2004 ford f150 5.4l v8 xlt 2x4 supercab. apparently the window regulator on the drivers side has failed. upon internet research it seems that this is a common problem that is a huge safety issue. as a stay at home dad of 2 children 2years old and under, i simply can't have a window fall into the door while driving. luckily the regulator failed late at night and did not pose a problem with the kids being in the vehicle. window did not break but will not operate. *cn
I own a ford f-150 2004 4x4 four door lariat model truck. i have had to replace three of the four window regulators at a cost in excess of $300 each. when i inquired ford about the problem tn the service manager told me this was a common problem on all f-150 models manufactured from the mid 1990's on. they also went on to say that the part couldn't be warranted for more than a year and that the replacement had not better chance of long life then did the others. this is no doubt a design/manufacturing defect which should be corrected before someone is hurt or killed. i know ford, like many other american firms, is having a rough time with this economy but there is no excuse for this flagrant disregard of their responsibility to ford customers. *tr
I own a 2004 ford f150 since my truck run to 75,000 miles all four windows have drop. ford it's responsible for this safety issues. they need to take ownership of their factory defects on this windows i have already spend $900 dollars fixing all 4 windows. and ford wont do anything about it. *tr
In 2008 i purchased a 2004 ford f-150 lariat( 4 door). in march of this year ( 2010) the power window mechanism on the front drivers side failed, causing the window to drop into the door panel. the front drivers side passenger door failed in june of this year with the same result. today, sept 7, the rear passengers side door window mechanism failed causing the window to drop into the door. i have done some research on the internet and i find the failure of the power window mechanism to be fairly common. this is a definite safety hazard as an unexpected lowering of the window can cause items inside the truck to fly around inside the cab and create a safety hazard to the driver. it would seem that ford has had an unusual number of this failures and should make the repairs at their cost in order to prevent serious accidents. *tr
