We have classified the 205 complaints from 2004 Ford F-150 about VISIBILITY into the following categories.
Rear passenger side window fell into the door and could not be raised. the vehicle was parked at the time of the occurrence. the window regulator mechanism was not being activated at the time of the failure. the window regulator needs to be replaced. this same failure has occurred in the same vehicle on previous occasions to the front drivers side window and front passenger side window while driving. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 ford f-150. the contact stated that the front driver and rear driver side window have fallen into the door. a defective regulator caused the windows to fall. the regulator was replaced; however, the contact stated that the failure is a safety issue since children ride in the rear passenger seats. the current and failure mileages were 11,000.
I heard a loud pop or bang when i was putting up the drivers side window. the window fell down and won't come back up. motor turns and makes a grinding noise. crossroad ford cary nc repair estimate was $400 - $450. *tr
The third (of fourth) different window regulator broke recently resulting in another trip to the ford service department. there have been a total of three broken regulator cables break within the past year (last two within the past 2 months). this latest occurred while driving resulting in an alerting distraction to the driver. the window basically just dropped down into the door and would not return to its closed position. this particular window (back passenger side) is where we keep the baby seat and unfortunately our child was not in the car at the time. in all three cases the regulator assembly had to be replaced at my expense although this is clearly a manufacturer defect resulting in unsafe situation. vehicle is a 2004 ford f-150. *tr
Leaving home rolling up driver power window and suddenly there was a very loud bang and snapping sounds from window, very un-nerving. *tr
As i lowered the driver's-side power window, it made a loud scraping noise and then an even louder pop/crack which made me think the window had broken. i raised the window cautiously and even though it continued to make noises, the glass appeared to be undamaged. about 5 minutes later, the window slid down into the door of the truck. *tr
The back passenger window on my truck will not roll up or down. it slides down little by little while i drive and i have to manually push it back up. i am afraid it is going to fall into the door and shatter. and it is a security concern since anyone can slide the window down from the outside and unlock the door. i have read online that this is a common problem with the truck and an expensive fix as well. it sounds like something ford needs to step and recall. *tr
I have had all four of my windows in my 2004 f150 supercrew collapse into the door. 3 of those have been while traveling on the freeway. i could only imagine if i was in a rain storm trying to drive what that could have done. i know having to fix my passenger side for the 2nd time. *tr
I had 3 window regulators just quit causing the glass to just drop in my 2004 ford 150 lariat. my warranty was 23 days over and the ford call center as well as corporate offices, (313-845-6173,313-845-5761, 313-845-5831) flat out told me it was my problem there were no more warranties. i paid to repair 2 of the window regulators and ford did assist with the second on 80% of repair. but i have owned 5 ford trucks and the only issues we have had is with the f150. i have searched the internet for the past 5 days and i am not the only one, there are hundreds of complaints about the 2004 ford lariat f150 series truck windows. you could be driving and your window just drops out into the panel. its not safe. my husband's coworker ,said his wife was driving there f150 on the freeway with their son in the back and the window dropped and she thought it was a driveby cause the window was gone and there was loud bang noise or thump. this is not safe. *tr
I was driving with my driver side window down and as i went to roll it up due to rain, i heard a loud pow inside my door and the window fell all the way back down. as it turns out, my window regulator broke. after researching this, i found this to be a very common problem with the ford 2004 f150. this is very inconvenient do to weather conditions, theft, children safety, pet safety, and cost of replacement (possibly 3 more times). *tr
The drivers side window in my truck fell this morning. i fixed the window on the passengers side exactly 1 year ago this week. i brought it in last year to fix the window and they changed the cable or motor not really sure, but i have an appointment tomorrow to fix the drivers side now. same part needs to be changed just different door. at $200.00 each time. i have searched the internet and have found thousands of complaints from other ford owners with the same problem on the 2004 f-150. maybe a recall should be issued on these parts. *tr
Driving down the road and my driver window came crashing down. 2004 f !50 *tr
My drivers side window went out one day, then about two days later my passenger and back left window went out. i brought it to the ford dealership to get it fixed, along with what i thought was a spark plug and coiles. well i a found out that a 2004 f-150 i have to replace the engine. while it was in the shop my back right window aperantly went out . it was working when it went in, and when i got it back i had a plastic tarp on my window, panel was off, and noone had told me they let it rain in my truck or that the one window that had worked was now out also. *tr
I was driving home on wednesday, sept. 16, 2009, and the passenger side window in my 2004 ford f-150 pickup, fell into the door. i could not get it to go back up and have no idea why this occurred. this could have been a very dangerous situation, as i was passing a large truck at the time and thought that i had been sideswiped. ford should fix this problem based on the number of occurrences that i have now seen. *tr
My complaint is for my 2004 ford f150 window regulator. i now have 2 windows that are broke and ford wants approx. $500 each to fix. the first situation was with the whole family in the truck, we heard a loud pop and thought we hit something, then the window just slid down inside the door. we were out of town and had to find tape or something to hold the window up because it was cold outside. the 2nd situation i was by myself coming home from work and pop again which made me so mad that it could happen twice. i had to take the door panels off and the windows are now held up with a rip cord and all the electric windows have been disconnected so we cannot even open any of them. ford needs to fix this poor design that they know about for free and recall this model. *tr
I had both passenger front and rear windows fall within a day apart from each other. it's the part that holds the window in place i believe they are calling it the actuators. the cable is breaking lose from this assembly and causing the cable to crinkle in the motor, so every part of that window gets destroyed. no incidents thank god, but this could have been a bad situation in other circumstances. i have seen so many complaints on different websites and still nothing is being done about it! i guess somebody has to die for ford to start a recall i just hope it's not me or my loved ones. *tr
Three of the four windows in our ford f150 extended cab have gone down never to come up again. no one was injured, but the open window with no way to close it certainly provided for possible injury especially today as the third one broke just before a heavy thunderstorm with strong winds. we were able to get the truck into the garage before the bottom fell out. *tr
2 different power window regulators have gone out on my 2004 ford f-150 pickup truck in less than 30 days. i have been advised you have requested ford to recall f-150's for this problem and they have refused to do anything about it.... tisk tisk, can't anything be done about this as it is a known problem? *tr
I have had two windows in my 2004 f-150 come off the tracks and need to be replaced. the dealership claims this is a very common occurrence. at $400 a window i am sure they love to fix them! *tr
Over the past year of owning my 2004 ford f-150 supercrew 5.4 ltr. triton, i have replaced 3 out of the 4 power window regulators on the vehicle. i do not consider these normal repairs however as they have all occurred within such a short period of time and were all exactly the same in nature. the first occurred on a trip from colorado to salina ks. over the thanksgiving holiday, i thought the failure was due to the extremely cold weather, which made most of the trip completely miserable by the way, however within 6 months another power window failure occurred and just the other day the third. i think it's ridiculous that so many persons have lodged the same complaint about these faulty components and ford made aware of the issue yet they choose to do nothing about this specific problem. *tr
I've had to have the window regulators replaced 4 times in one year. can someone please look into this. i see 100's of complaint about this issue. thank you. *tr
Window regulator on drivers side window failure. the window worked properly then when i hit the switch to roll the window up i heard a loud pop then the window fell. right before i drove into a very heavy rain storm. will need a new window regulator. *tr
The power windows on my f-150 have failed on four different occasions, with one window failing twice. a family member was driving the first time this occurred and was fortunate not to wreck the vehicle. the latest occurrence was fortunate that it occurred while i was in the parking lot of the mall. it is evident by the number of complaints that ford is not taking this problem as serious as they should. *tr
Within a one year span of time i have had two window regulators/motors break on my 2004 f-150 extended cab. the truck only has 59,000 miles on it and i have heard of many others having this same problem with this model and year. there are no outside factors affecting this problem, it is a manufacturing issue. both times i just simply went to roll down my window, heard a pop and then my window began to slide down. i had to use cardboard to keep it from falling all the way into the door. both times the regulator and motor had to be repaired. *tr
Sitting in a parking lot window rolled up and all of a sudden hear a loud pop like a rock being thrown at the window. passanger side rear window slowly starts to slide down into the door by itself. doesn't go back up. *tr
No crashes just incidents of window failure on f-150. all window regulators have had to be replaced due to poor workmanship. it is an obvious ford defect that needs to be addressed. the actual part in question is a small plastic piece, but the repair runs on average $400.00 per window for replacement of entire system even though regulator works fine. *tr
I own a ford f150 v8 5.4 tritan about a month ago my passengers side window fell down in the door while i was driving down the road. it scared me and caused me to swerve while driving. this is definitely an issue. about a week ago my drivers side e window did the same thing while driving on a two lane winding road. it crashed down into the door scaring me and almost causing an accident. after doing some research i realized that this is problem many other ford owners are having and not just a fluke. something needs to be done about this before it causes an accident resulting in someone's death. *tr
I, like thousands of others of concerned consumers, have experienced faulty window regulators in my 2004 ford f-150. last night, my rear window broke when trying to role it up. several months ago, my driver window broke when i wasn't even using the window or near the truck. i just walked out to my truck with the window down - thinking someone had broken into my truck. when complaining to ford, they said there is nothing that can be done. the guy at the ford service department at my local dealership said he had the same truck at the time and had already replaced 3 on his truck. as for correcting the problem when doing the $350 repair, he told me the repair is the same as it was manufactured and he acknowledged problem would repeat over time. paying over $30,000 for a truck and having windows breaking like this is absurd. for ford to refuse to correct the problem is more absurd. consumers need your help, please do something. *tr
Windows in f-150 our failing. cable just snaps and they fall quickly into door. three out of four windows have fallen in my truck. the first occurred during a down pour. this was quite a surprise and i was fortunate that i was not driving down the interstate when this occurred. the third and last occurrence occurred just last week while on a business trip. two of the three incidents were extremely distracting, one occurred while parked. based on my conversations with the dealer, search results on the internet, and my own experience i'm concerned anyone with a child that removes their restraints while in motion might encounter the same issue. one of my windows in the back was broken but did not drop down until it was touched by a co-worker, and dropped very fast. thank goodness this did not happened by a child who unrestrained themselves while moving. *tr
2004 ford f-150 window regulators failure, my drivers side window just fell to the bottom of the door when i tried to roll it up. *tr
2004 ford f-150 super crew has had 3 window regulators fail since 2008. the most recent was on 9/2/09. the others were in april of 2008. in each instance, the vehicle was parked in a commuter parking lot when we arrived to see that the window(s) were down and would not roll up. we are fortunate that this has happened when we are not actually driving the vehicle. this could be a very serious safety issue if the window were to drop while driving in bad weather with a small child in the vehicle. ford needs to recall this item and fix it for free. it is a very expensive repair at the dealer. our particular truck has just under 45,000 miles on it. *tr
In my super-cab - without warning the driver's side window fell completely down to the bottom of the door and would not raise back up while in route on the interstate. it was loud and shocking! this occurred out of warranty the first time at 53,354 miles. yesterday (3/4/12), the passenger window did exactly the same thing and startled myself and my wife. this presents an extremely unsafe and unsecured situation, especially in the winter conditions we experience here in the northwest. there are hundreds if not thousands of similar incidents posted on the internet for this model, 2004-2008. *tr
The passenger side rear door window made a loud pop and slowly began to fall downward while driving. this is the door right next to my child's car seat. this is the 4th window it has happened to. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the drivers side power window dropped down into the door panel. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where it was repaired. the same failure occurred approximately two years later on the front passenger side window. the manufacturer was notified and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for repairs. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage 71,000. updated 08/31/11 *bf updated 09/12/11
On three separate occasions in the past year and a half the window regulators in my 2004 ford f-150 truck have broken. each time the part broke without warning while i was driving. the window just suddenly slams down into the frame of the door, and can no longer be returned to the "up" position. i am certain the last of my four windows will soon break as well. hopefully not during a monsoon rainstorm. the approximate incident dates of these breakages are: 03-03-08, 09-03-08 and lastly 9-01-09. i will only list the most recent occurrence below. *tr
The automatic windows have had 3 problems. i've had the regulator go out once and have had the power assembly / control panel replaced twice. *tr
2004 ford f150 i have had three window regulators replaced and now the forth one has broken. first two were covered under warranty and the third wasn't. this is ridiculous and should have a recall on it. of course ford wont cover it under warranty. *tr
I have had to replace power window regulators in my 2004 ford 150 4 times! the dealer charges me $400 to replace each time. the dealer claims this is not a defect. research on the web reveals otherwise. this is a common problem. *tr
Driver side window in my 2004 f-150 lariat fell down in the door while traveling 35mph down the road. it made a very loud thump sound before it fell. *tr
2004 ford f-150 crewcab while driving( saturday, august 29th 2009) my passenger rear window dropped into door. after finding it is caused from a plastic part on a window regulator i also found several hundred complaints on the internet. *tr
It looks like there will have to be a number of injuries or deaths before a recall is put in effect here. i have a ford f150 supercrew 2004, the driver's side window dropped and shattered suddenly while driving in heavy traffic with a loud noise and shattered glass. i thought i was shot at, at the time and was very lucky there was not a serious accident killing and injuring many people. kids were crying and all inside vehicle were very upset. afterwards i removed the window glass and the regulator assembly and the problem is the plastic clips that hold the control cables in place. they appear to be cheap and fragile and obviously break easily and for no reason, letting the cables come out of their guides and therefore dropping the window unexpectedly. i have taken numerous pictures if anyone from ford, nhtsa or anyone else would like to see. this incident really screwed up a otherwise great day because of shoddy engineering and quality from a american car company (ford). i am in the process of buying and replacing this window regulator myself at a cost of $187 + tax + time + inconvenience with no assurance this will not happen again. *tr
Passenger front and passenger rear glass fallen into door. will not respond to electric window button. *tr
My daughter was driving my 2004 f150 when she heard a 'pop' type noise, then the driver side window fell down into the door. this is an extreme safety hazard as it is completely startling and can cause an accident. fortunately she was driving in the city at reduced speed when it occurred and no accident occurred. it did scare her as it was totally unexpected . she called and told me about it so i called my mechanic. his known repair history for the f150 indicates that the noise and the sudden window dropping is that of the window regulator breaking in the door. apparently this has been an ongoing problem and ford has undergone 3 revisions, or is on their 3rd model of that window regulator and this is a danger to all who drive when this occurs and quite possibly a danger to other vehicles on the road due to a possible accident occurring. . this product must be recalled due to faulty design as no window should do this. i want ford motor to replace both my window regulators, b/c if it has happened to one, it will probably soon happen to the other. and when my mechanic says the track record to repair this will cost a person $250 - 400, that is completely unacceptable. *tr
3 of the 4 window regulators on the ford f150 truck have gone out in the past 2 months. each time it costs about $350 to replace the part. as the failures occur, you can hear a grinding sound as the switch is activated, followed by a cascade of broken pieces falling down inside the door somewhere. then the window goes neither up nor down. if you check some of the auto forums, this is a frequent complaint for the 2004 model. by the time it is all done, it will cost me $1200 or more. the parts are obviously defective!!!!!! ford should make good on this problem. *tr
2004 f150 truck window came crashing down while driving, big loud pop then the window crashed i have been reading online and there are over 1000 complaints same situation. the regulators need to be recalled instantly. *tr
Driver's side window has fallen into door and now won't roll back up. this occurred while the vehicle was powered off sitting in my driveway. investigation of the cause by internet discussion group reveals numerous same complaints from ford f150 owners suggesting a common defect that requires recall. *tr
Was driving down the road and my passenger side window fell down. i only had 68,000 miles and this repair cost me $275. have always bought f150 this is my 3rd one. and was always happy with windows before, but now with this new pulley system the windows go up and down slow like a chevy and worse fall down and don't come back up. please make this right by issuing a recall. *tr
2004 f150 window suddenly drops into the door panel. this is the second time a different window failed in my truck. see this link for others who also experienced this issue: http://www.carcomplaints.com/ford/f-150/2004/windows_windshield/window_does_not_roll_up.shtml i have not had it repaired yet, can't afford it right now. this did not cause an accident in my case, but scared the heck out of me and my passenger, but i maintained control of my vehicle. *tr
While driving at 70mph in heavy traffic the passenger front window with a startling loud bang (thought i got shot by someone with road rage) fell into the door panel, after a few moments of creative driving i understood what had happened because my drivers side front window had done the same thing 6 mo. earlier while sitting still at a drive thru.............does someone need to die..........before the stuffed shirts and lawyers who sweep this problem under the rug are called to testify before congress as to when they knew about said problem....... *tr
The window on my 2004 f-150 will not go up i was driving down the road and wanted to put the window up it started to go up but then fell down all of a sudden right after i heard a pop sound and it scared the hell out of me! now it wont go up i have not got it fixed yet but i will i looked on line and found out i'm not the only one who's gone through this problem but regardless this is a safety hazard that could distract someone from the road. *tr
