My camry passed the oil consumption test in march 2015 at rick hendrick toyota, sandy springs georgia. i informed the technician that it should of failed because i was adding oil between maintenance visits. in december 2019 my car is burning oil faster than ever. the dealership (rick hendrick toyota in sandy springs georgia ) administered another oil consumption test. i am still doing the test. however, the manager told me the recall has expired and i am responsible for any repairs or engine replacement. i am the first and only owner of this vehicle, it has 145,000 miles. i should not be responsible for the manufacturers defect and possible oversight of toyota certified technicians.
3 different concerns issue #1: while in motion the abs and brake light come on, speedometer goes to 0, other gauges go crazy. happens off and on throughout the day while driving. took it to a mechanic, they said it is the abs module going out, to fix it with a brand new part would be $1800. not only is it dangerous to not be able to see my speed, its a possibility my abs wouldn't kick in if needed. regular brakes work fine.
I own 2007 toyota camry 79k miles. i started consumed oil on 75k miles. it consumed 1.3 every 1000 mies. 2007 to 2009 2.4l 4-cyl 2az-fe. this engine had bad reputation for oil burning.
Takata recall i bought a 2007 toyota camry ce and i noticed that it's burning too much engine oil
Abs brake system failure while driving. loss of brakes, power steering, engine power while on a busy street approaching an intersection
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving various speeds, the oil indicator began to illuminate. the contact had to add oil to the vehicle each time the failure occurred. the contact took the vehicle to ernie palmer toyota (1290 cassat ave, jacksonville, fl 32205, (904) 389-4561) and was informed that there was a warranty enhance program for the oil consumption. the contact was referred to the corporate office. the manufacturer was notified and stated that the warranty for the program had expired. no further assistance was offered. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 146,285. *js
My toyota camry 2007 le, is burning way to much oil. i have constantly keep puting oil in my engine so that it doesn't burn. and my car doesnt have any leeks so this is definitely an engine problem.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle shook. the vehicle was taken to hamer toyota (located at 11041 sepulveda blvd, mission hills, ca 91345, (855) 592-7001) and was informed that there was no oil in the engine. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided a case number. the approximate failure mileage was 92,000.
Our 2007 camry constantly eats oil. we check it every 2-3 weeks and it's not on the dip stick. i add about an additional 3 qts between oil changes... this is not normal! car does not smoke nor is it leaking the oil.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving various speeds or while the vehicle was idling, the engine stalled. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine pistons were faulty, which caused the vehicle to experience excessive oil consumption and stalling. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the local dealer was not notified. the failure mileage was 131,000. the vin was invalid.
I had my schedule oil change two weeks later low oil lightcontinue to come on, not the check engine light then i'm riding and engine starts to make this loud rattling noise purchase car 2015 no letter toyota this is my case number i filed with toyota case number 1905160304
Toyota camry 2007 engine consumes excessive oil. toyota issued a tsb for this problem but because my car is more than 10 years old and had over 150k miles, it was not covered by the tsb. they estimate it will cost $5000 to fix the problem, which is outrageous.
Camry burns excessive oil and needs oil replacement consistantly.
There is an oil consumption issue and toyota is saying it is an extended warranty issue, that has expired and that i am going to have to fix it and pay for it all out of pocket. this should be a recall not a waranty issue. it's not fair or right and they should stand behind their production issues that are flawed. this is a saftey issue because the light doesn't even come on when it is low, so if i don't check often then i am in danger when i am driving. i bought the car to drive, not to become a mechanic.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving 50 mph, the contact heard an abnormal noise and parked the vehicle on the side of the road. the vehicle was not able to be driven. the vehicle was towed to gilland ford (located at 3118 us-231, ozark, al 36360, (334) 443-1000) where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 150,000. *tr*jb
The engine has high oil and fuel consumption. the consumption of oil is two quarts a month.
While driving, i had to make an emergency stop. after stopping quick, the engine oil light turned on for about 5 seconds. i checked the oil and found it to be 2.5 quarts low. my last oil change was less than 2500 miles ago. excessive engine oil consumption is causing a low oil light and possible engine failure. this is a known problem and updated parts are available, but due to my vehicle being over 10 years old, the manufacturer will not honor the warranty extension for this problem.
Water pump replaced january 6, 2016 ( 69,307 miles) and january, 2019 (93,621 miles)
Excessive oil consumption. takes about 1-2 quarts every 1000 miles, otherwise i run out of oil and it starts to smell like oil when i drive or when car is running. i was headed on a trip today when my car started to drive a little funny and it started to smell like oil again. i was able to pull off to the side of the road and check it and i was low on oil. i put more oil in the car and headed back on my trip. i had the cruise control set and all of a sudden the cruise kicked off and jolted the car while i was driving 70mph. after that it was hard to get my car to shift above the 3rd rpm. car still has less than 150,000 on it. this problem has been going on for a few thousand miles. it has no oil leaks. there are no lights that go off, has had regular and scheduled maintenance with records.
Burns too much oil. friends with camrys and scions both have complained about same issue. i barely make it to 2000 mile mark and have to add oil. even different dealerships have told me that these engines are known to burn through too much oil. if they know this and it's a problem for many then it should be fixed.
I purchased a camry from bob (xxxx) in 2007. the car started consuming an excessive amount of oil not long after the toyota enhancement program launched in 2014. i did not get a notice from toyota. bob (xxxx) informed me of the need to run the oil consumption test in july 2015; which we did. i was told the test "passed" even though it was obvious that the car was burning a lot of oil. the oil pressure light kept coming on over & over again. i requested a 2nd test in dec 2015 and i was told again that the car "passed" the oil consumption test. for 3 years i complained to bob (xxxx) about the situation, including the car choking when i try to accelerate or brake; oil pressure light; engine light; having to add oil to my car upon driving it for about 1000 miles or so, etc.. this all happened from 2015-2018. in 2018, bob (xxxx) tried to tell me that my car is leaking oil instead of burning oil. this wasn't an accurate statement. so, i went to a trusted independent mechanic who took a detail look at my car and confirmed that my car is not leaking oil at all. i went back to bob (xxxx) & demanded a 3rd oil consumption test. after much arguing they agreed to it. we did the test and it failed in dec 2018. this confirmed what i knew all along. yet they refused to fix the problem to the point where the service manager wayne (xxxx) refused to take my calls. they tell me the warranty has expired, which is very fitting for them &toyota. i called toyota inc. who also refused to do anything because the warranty expired in 2016. my car is barely at 105,000 miles which is below the toyota extended warranty limit of 150,000 miles or 10 yrs. the fact that i have complained about the issue while it was under warranty & was mislead the whole time did not count for anything. obviously, this oil consumption issue poses a serious threat to the engine & to car owners. repairs are a must. parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 5
I have continuously had issues with my cars ignition coils and vsc system. the check engine light and vsc system light is always on and even though i've spent thousands of od dollars on repairs the light continues to pop up even with regular maintenance and multiple repairs. my car misfires and turns off randomly this is very dangerous to drive but i have no other means of transportation. the car misfires in idle, while driving at low and high speeds and it wont turn on sometimes until i connect jumper cables to the battery. when i connect the jumper cables i never need an extra source of power i simply connect one end of the cables to the battery and a few seconds later it all the lights turn on again and the car restarts the whole system.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while the contact's vehicle was idling at a stop light, it was rear ended by another vehicle. the air bag failed to deploy. the contact sustained neck and lower back injuries that required medical attention. a police report was filed. the contact was able to coast the vehicle over to the side of the road. when the contact attempted to drive the vehicle, it failed to start. the contact powered off and restarted the engine, but the vehicle failed to drive and began shaking. all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was driven to the contact's residence and later towed to a collision center where it was diagnosed that the po171/02 sensor failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. the dealer was not contacted. the failure mileage was unknown. *js
We purchased a 2007 toyota camry and after three months of owning it we now need a new engine. my husband was driving the car on the highway and without warning the engine started making a funny noise and smoking. he had to stop on the highway in a turning lane at night. i am so upset that we now have a nonworking vehicle that we still owe money on. i have been reading up on this and apparently there are many 2007 models with engine failure. i'm not a detective but something is criminal about this. we work hard to pay for these vehicles....they arnt a toy we play with....we need them to get places safely. if there are so many people having this issue....it must be a manufacturer flaw. they should have to make it right.
Suddenly oil consumption has gone up drastically. using additional quart of oil every 750 miles. talk with toyota representative, according to them "i am off my own as because extended warranty expired."
After the car engine odometer hit 70.000 the car started to burn oil more than normal. i took the car for an oil change and the car had very little oil. since then i had to add 3 quarts of oil in between oil change at 78.000 and 2 quarts of oil in between oil change at 83.000 miles.
High oil consumption, i bought it from a dealership. fix is 5000-7000$, toyota is not willing to fix since it surpassed the warranty time period. i am completely helpless. it drinks oil like and i cant see any signs on the ground.
Takata recall. my 2007 camry le is burning about 1qt/600 oil. the vehicle was in a parking lot when i checked it. toyota admits this oil consumption issue as a manufacturing defect and still not issuing a recall. i have to add oil regularly between oil changes so that my car doesn't get stranded in the middle of the highway.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving at an unknown speed, the speedometer gauge failed to provide the correct reading and the abs control module and emergency warning indicators illuminated. also the cooling component of the air conditioner failed to function. furthermore, while at a stop sign, the vehicle began to power down. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the abs control module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 180,000.
Excessive engine oil usage. 1 plus quarts of oil every 1000 miles approx. engine has approx 91000 miles on it.
Oil light was flashing, so i took to my mechanic. he said the oil had used 3qts in less than a month (last oil change) and that the coolant was bone dry. it turns out its a head gasket/engine issue. he let me know he had multiple 2007 camrys with this issue, and that the dealership has an open 'campaign'? or recall. i have left a message for the local toyota dealership
On july 9, 2018, vehicle was taken to a toyota dealership for regular maintenance and to check on intermittent engine knocking. we were told that there was a problem with the pistons and cost for repair would be $4,400.00. repair would include: kits, clamps, hoses, pistons and piston pins. vehicle was taken to a second toyota dealer who suggested either a used engine or a rebuilt one. estimated cost would be between $5,000.00 and $6,000.00
2007 camry started consuming oil like crazy around 100,000. coolant also starting to disappear.
Engine burns one quart of oil every 1000 miles.toyota knows about this problem and says it's normal for a vehicle to burn oil after time.
High oil consumption
Started having issues with car overheating. replaced water pump but check engine light came on and had the code for a misfire. ended up being the head gasket. this car is well maintained. in researching this, i have found that several toyota owners have had head gasket issues and there was also a recall on the 4runner head gasket.
(1) abs module has an intermittent short. when it fails the speedometer stops working, abs and brake light on dash come on, temp gauge and tach fluctuate, and the a/c stops working. the short in module was diagnosed by a toyota dealer. i understand electrical components go bad but for it to effect the speedometer and a/c seems like a poor design. (2) on several occasions my engine oil light has come on. apparently there are issues with excessive oil consumption in some model toyotas with piston rings flaws. dealer has done oil consumption tests but unable to reproduce problem.
The engine burns 1.5 quarts of oil every 1000 miles. toyota told me that the tsb expired at the end of 2016 and were unwilling to pay for any repairs.
Car is burning a quart of oil every 1000-1200 miles, took it to the mechanic and he stated in the long run this can cause the engine to knock and or fail. i just had a newborn and am concerned about the safety of my wife and child.
My toyota camry se 2007 model consumes excessive oil. the oil gone at 2400 km after i changed the oil. and the paint right above the door and on the spoiler start getting peeling off.
Just purchase a 2007 toyota camry le from sterling mccall toyota a few months ago and now just finding out that the car has a oil consumption issue with no indication that the engine had ever had and problems now it's a the engine has possibly blown out or locked because of this issue it will not start. i paid for this vehicle in full in cash from the dealer i'm trying to find out how to get my money back for the vehicle sale price and the other minor repairs that i made to this vehicle. the vehicle could have killed me and my children it just turned off while we were driving home during the day, almost caused a car accident.
My car is comsuming 13/4 quarts of oil for 1200 miles
My aunt bought brand new 2007 camry and transfer to me 2-2018. notice that engine sound not right. have to check oil every week. engine burning oil a lot, have to put 1 quart every 1200 miles, only 67500 miles and now starting to hear knocking noise. call toyota and they said warranty expire. repair at owner cost.
Was doing a 3000 mile oil change 3/29/2018 and only 1.5 quarts came out. called the dealer who said its out of warranty, cant do anything for us. we bought this car used from them may 2017, they didn't tell us about the tsb. all oil changes have been normal until last week. crooks!
My vehicle does not burn enough oil. i have zero oil consumption issues. toyota is a great company. employees should get a raise today.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving uphill with the cruise control engaged at approximately 60 mph, the cruise control failed to disengage when the brake pedal was depressed. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the transmission failed and needed replacement. the vehicle was repaired. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and case number: 1803150976 was opened. the approximate failure mileage was 136,000. *tt consumer stated the cruise control requested power, electronic failure between cruise, engine and transmission, causing engine rpm to accelerate with no power from transmission. i hit brake pedal to keep engine from being damaged. few seconds later transmission thumped/clunked. transmission damaged from that point. i drove car without cruise control till new transmission was installed. updated 10/15/18*jb
Toyota dealership performed their "warranty enhancement" test on my car in 2016 to see if it qualified for their known oil consumption coverage and repair. it did not see their criteria. now my car is consuming 1 quart of oil nearly every 1000 miles and they will not cover the problem.
Toyota high oil consumption -my 2007 camry has 53k miles and has started using approximately 1 quart of oil every 1k miles. this is excessive. i would like toyota to address the issue.
The vehicle is burning 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles. there is some smoking coming from the tailpipe as well. the vehicle only has 77,000 miles on it.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving at an unknown speed, the engine seized without warning. the vehicle was towed to the dealer (don mcgill toyota of katy, 21555 katy fwy, katy, tx 77450) where it was diagnosed that the engine failed. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and repaired. the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was out of warranty and provided case number: 1802121645. the failure mileage was 99,000. *tt *as
