Known oil consumption issue that toyota has cancelled warranty in the middle of my testing. car uses over a quart every 1000 miles. horrible
Oil consumption: after 1149 mi, i checked my oil and there was barley any oil in the car. the car has 149,000 miles on it. the dealer said that using a qt. of oil every 1000 mi. was normal. they said it passed the recall which was tested at 1000 mi. they refused to fixed the problem.
Burning oil at a high rate. i have to add oil every 500 miles or so. we have always followed a plan of changing the oil every 3 months or about 4000 miles. since about feb 2016, this high consumption issue has existed on this vehicle. we've owned the vehicle since 2007.
This car is burning through oil in between changes. the abs system has also failed. no major problems, just annoying.
The abs and brake lights of my toyota 2007 camry come on and off intermittently. when the lights are on, the whole dashboard readers; the speedometer, rpm, engine temperature and other gauges jump and flicker, the light markers for transmission gear and parking go off. the ac unit also did not work. i went to dealer to get it checked out but there were no codes to diagnose the issue. i was told to come back again when it happens for longer than a day. it keeps happening at various times of the day (morning and evening), when the car is stopped or moving, and on all types of roads and driving conditions (city streets, highway, at a stop light, at a stop sign, when i am turning). i have noticed that toyota has already issued a recall for the same issue for the 2007 camry hybrid. given the sheer number of complaints i have read about this issue for the regular camry 2007, it seems ridiculous that toyota has not issued a recall for this for the 2007 camry.
Engine consumed 4 qts of oil before regular 3000mi oil change, now engine is making noise.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving various speeds, the low oil indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed. the technician informed the owner of toyota's limited service campaign (ze7). the vehicle was not repaired per the expired campaign. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
The engine is burning oil. there was a previous recall however, i was not notified of the burning of the oil in the engine. for over 2 years, i have complained about the oil burning in my car and have called numerous of times to complaint that my oil light was on with a few weeks of getting a oil change. i paid numerous of times for additional oil for my car and took it back to the dealership many times because there was no oil in my car. i was told the car is older and the more miles on the car, the vehicle will burn lots of oil. i had my car in the shop many times for oil changes and repairs for previous recalls however, i was never notified of the engine oil burning recall in my vehicle. after being notified by a rental car representative at a toyota dealership about an oil consumption test, i called priority chevrolet greenbrier to get the test done since i have been taking my vehicle to that priority dealership because of the speed of getting an appointment for my oil changes. i was told i need to go to priority toyota to have it done since my car is a toyota. never once have a service representative advise me of the burning of oil with 07 camry. now that i have the oil consumption test done, the service rep says that the recall has expired even though i was not made aware of the recall and that i have to pay $2,200 for the repair. i believe, i am entitle to this repair knowing that toyota never notified me and that i have been having this issue for years and not one service person has the decency to inform me of this recall.
There are several issues. first sticky dash board .. was told i'm being put on a waiting list for part. it's been months still no word. 2nd oil consumption is ridiculous. . oil runs out way before it's time for oil change every time .. no oil leaks anywhere .. car just burns oil super fast never experienced this with any car i've owned ..3rd the car vibrates when in you hit around 40 mph at 1.5 rpm doesnt do it as much when car doesnt go in overdrive in 4th gear .. was told this may be a computer programing issue .. 4th my driver side back seat mat is melted to the floor. i was told something under the car may be getting to hot. never got any real answers to my concerns .
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that oil needed to be added to the vehicle every week. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but no oil leak was found. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer and dealer were not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 210,000.
My 07 camry runs completely out of oil before it's time for it to be changed. i have had the car checked for oil leaks and has passed each time. after researching this issue i have found that the more miles on the car the faster it runs the oil out and with that being said i now have engine damage. not to mention this car has been the absolute worst. i put my visors down one time and had to take them off because they wouldn't go back up. the power controls in my car don't work. i also found out tonight that there was a recall on the gas pedal in this death trap that happened before i owned it that i was never informed of but knew something had to be wrong with it because it kept sticking!! i am not the only person dealing with this and find it outrageous that it has not been fixed. my children used to ride in that car!! it is a ticking time bomb and something needs to be done about this!!!!!!!
My car has an over oil consumption problem. before the car is due for an oil change it is out of oil completely and due to this problem my car starting overheating and it cracked the head gasket. toyota has a recall for the 4 cylinder models for this same issue but the 6 cylinder models are excluded. despite the fact that i told them every time j went to their service center. now i have to buy a new engine for the vehicle that i just bought.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving 35 mph, the contact heard a noise coming from the front passenger side of the vehicle. the vehicle started to lose speed. the contact costed over to the side of the road. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the oil tube fractured and burned the engine and would needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 45,300.
Toyota has a recall on a number of vehicles because of a piston ring design flaw. last year they tested my 2007 camry and said it was ok. actually, it burned 1 quart of oil (i just found out from customer care) but toyota says it must burn 1.5 quarts of oil to qualify. i was told that the car was ok. my oil light went on less than 2000 miles in to my last oil change. the car was 3 quarts low on oil! the dealership says that it definitely has the design flaw--but they have to run another test to verify what i have told them. now here is the zinger---i have one week to drive 1100 miles. that is because toyota has said this recall ends then. somehow i am responsible for their engineering design flaw, their inability to diagnose my vehicle the first time, and their unilateral setting of an expiration date. i do not believe that this is fair or reasonable. perhaps they will see the light or extend the final date for me? i cannot drive 1100 miles this week. i would if my schedule allowed it.
My vehicle not only got an extremely sticky dashboard but it also started burning oil in between oil changes. i had every recall taken care of as soon as i received it at & also kept up with all of the maintenance on my vehicle at a certified mechanic shop. i have all of my service records & witnesses. the end of 2015 my car started burning an excessive amount of oil in between oil changes. i ended up taking it to the mechanic & he was adding oil in between oil changes stating it was normal for it to burn oil. they also went with a thicker oil to try to fix it.i was also adding oil whenever it started getting low. well my car overheated & cracked my head gasket. after going onto toyotas website & typing my vin number in, it states there aren't any recalls or service campaigns. i started saving money up to have my engine replaced so it's been sitting for months. after realizing i couldn't possibly afford it, i went online to get blue book values to sell it.i found out there were 2 tsbs covering my dashboard & my engine burning oil. they are saying something was mailed to me even though i know if i would have received anything i would have had it fixed immediately.after contacting an attorney who had a class action lawsuit against toyota, he stated to me that nothing was mailed out to customers. after contacting 2 toyota dealerships & toyota service, they both ran my vin # & it shows the warranty enhancement for both problems.customers did not have access to this unless they called the dealership.toyota service stated to me the only way they would replace anything to do with my engine is if an oil consumption test is run, well my engine is burned up.if my car was being worked on by a certified mechanic & i have service records proving all of my recalls & maintenance was done, they should honor that.there are lots of complaints from other owners stating the same things.
Toyota recall - the engine is burning too much oil which causes the engine to fail and oil to burn at an accessive rate. i have complainted of this to a the priority service department. i have to put oil in the vehicle often. there was a warranty enhancement for this problem which toyota admitted there was a problem however i was never informed even when i constantly complained of the engine. the engine has falty parts and there should be a recall to fix these parts
My 2007 toyota camry xle is burning oil and i always have to be adding oil, i took it to toyota dealership after i received a notice on the mail about my car having a warranty problem, excessive oil consumption. they said that the car was fine and they did an oil consumption test and i took it back after 1200 miles and according to them there was no problem, this started more than a year ago and i'm still having the same problem.
Excessive oil consumption car has about 88,000 miles and the oil light came on about halfway between oil changes. i took it to perryville tire to have oil checked--was told i had none. took it back to the dealer and they did an oil consumption test, which they told me it passed after they added 1 quart of oil and that this is normal oil consumption. this is ridiculous--i have owned many vehicles and none burned oil at this rate. normal--bah, humbug. i do have the extended warranty which covers up to 100,000 miles. i do believe toyota is trying to run out the warranty.
While the vehicle is in motion it hesitates to switch gears from 2nd to 3rd gear. as you accelerate. at times there is a jerk as it is doing so. this causes me to either slow down or speed up until it goes into gear.
Engine is consuming quarts of oil (5-9 qts) between oil changes
2007 toyota camry oil consumption recall was never fixed properly tried to take it to dealership sever times but was told that my car showed as not having that issue power windows recall button gets stuck. oil is constantly running low or empty and sensor is not coming on as well as no oil leaking out of vehicle even after oil change has taken place. have to manually check and add oil to vehicle which is dangerous
My car will burn throu +2 quarts of oil before i would reach 1200 miles having to change my oil every 1200 mile or adding 2+ quarts . if i forget to add or change oil engine will tick loud and i would lose acceleration power. i once forgot to add oil and trying to pull out in to traffic not realizing the lost of power i almost got t bone .
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that while operating the vehicle a thumping noise was present coming from the engine. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who indicated that the oil level was extremely low and the vehicle had experienced excessive oil consumption failures. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 100,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving 60 mph, the speedometer displayed 0 mph without the contact intentionally reducing the speed of the vehicle. the contact mentioned that the abs warning light illuminated when the failure occurred. in addition, the temperature gauge failed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician stated that the vehicle was burning large amounts of oil. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 99,852.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and the instrument panel lights illuminated. the vehicle was able to restart after several attempts. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown.
Around 100,000 miles i noticed my camry engine was consuming more oil than it did previously. now it's consuming around a quart every 1200 miles.
Takata recall i have took my car to the dealership and they said they would fix it and give me a new motor after waiting six mouths they took my old motor apart and never fixed it i left the dealership with the motor sitting in the car. now i have no motor and i'm still paying on the car the dealership won't fix it and the corporation will do nothing either i only got to drive my car for four months of having it. my car was still running when i took it to the dealership but was knocking and they lied about doing test on it and much more because they didn't have anyone that knew how to work on it . this was roberts toyota in columbia tn they lied to me and now my cars motor is in peaces please help
I have recently experienced a severe oil loss in my 2007 toyota camry with 97000 miles. i have always completed timely scheduled oil changes and never have had an issue until two weeks ago. the firestone dealer where i have my vehicle serviced determined i had a severe oil loss and can't locate where my oil leak is originating from. i have since learned toyota has a service bulletin about this issue and the local toyota service dealer has not returned my calls. in addition there was a class action lawsuit filed in spring 2014 for this issue with numerous toyota models.
I took this vehicle to the dealer (morristown toyota on jun 20,2015) to check why the light engine is on. the dealer diagnosed the problem as ' tech scanned for codes and found po137 oxygen sensor circuit low bank 1 sensor 2' not sure if this is normal to have this problem for a car like camry. besides, it has several other problems since i bought. i have warranty at that time, all those were covered. i am really concern the quality of this manufacturer. i am bringing this issue here to see if this is a real issue or not and other should be concern about this.
My car was burning more than 5 quarts in less than 3k miles but after long time finally toyota has fixed the issue. but this was happening for me from 45k miles on my car around 2009 until now. mean while since the engine was burning which caused my catalytic converter to blow off. they should replace the catalytic converter too because this is caused by the engine oil burning in the combustion camber. few years back they fixed my power window on the driver side but last 12- 18 months i am experiencing an issue some times the window opens on the passenger side but most of the time passenger would try to open but it wont open. i believe its an electrical issue which may have happened after they fixed on the driver side. if any accident happens then the passenger wont be able to get out which is very dangerous its an safety issue.
My toyota 2007 camry is leaking excessive amount of oil, there was a recall , but i did not get notification of this problem ,until i was online searching for answers to find out why my car, was requiring so much oil, i saw a article which stated that this was a manufacture defect, i notified toyota about this, they denied my claim. i even called the dealership where i purchased the car mar jacobs in durham n.c. mar jacobs stated that there was nothing he could do except try to ge me to buy a new car, no thanks , i just want my car fixed, because this affects my engine and if want to sale my car the value goes down, because of this manufacture defect. i am constantly buying oil for my car every week , which adds up in price. i would like or toyota honor the recall , its not my fault that this happened to my car.
Air compressor no good had it replaced at the dealer but not working, replaced engine due to over use of oil dealership stated it was normal use
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the engine was consuming oil excessively. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician stated that the vehicle was working up to specifications. the manufacturer was did not provide any additional assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was unknown.
Toyota sent me an oil consumption test letter and upon taking it to ralph hayes toyota to do the test i was told my car did not qualify. i performed the test myself and found it used one or more quarts of oil in the 1300 miles suggested in the letter. the car emits a large cloud of oil smoke on morning start ups.
After driving 3000 miles i am down a quart of oil. i received a recall notice on this issue and when i brought it back they told me to return after 1000 miles i returned after 1000 miles and hey told me there is nothing rongwith the car. the car is still down a quart after 3,000 mile
On 3/4/15 i had an oil change at conrad's. on 3/11/15 i took my vehicle in to toyota for the oil consumption test. at this time they asked when my last oil change was and i stated 3/4/15. they said they typically like to perform the oil change before the test but that oil change was recent enough to use. when they checked my oil they said my car arrived with no oil reading on the dipstick and that it was more than one quart low on oil. i explained how could that be i have no oil in my driveway or anywhere. the service advisor said they would need to do an oil change or they couldn't do the test. i called conrad's they stated that is not true and it's there word against toyota. i had toyota perform the oil change and they also sealed the engine off for the test. on 4/22/15 i returned as i had reached 1200 miles since the start of the test. at that point they stated my car passed and the oil consumption was good. in june i was headed out of town and the oil light flashed on as i exited the highway. at that point we added two quarts of oil. now it is 8-5-15 and my son was driving the car and the engine started knocking. we added two quarts of oil but it's too late. the noise coming from inside the engine did not stop. called toyota today and talked to the service manager and he said i could bring it in to be looked at. i will have to tow it up there as i'm not sure if it's drivable. next oil change was 9-7-15 or 92481 miles. current milage 94014. it appears that the car is burning an excessive amount of oil even though toyota claims it passed the test.
I was driving home from work, and as i was coming to a stop i heard a warning ding, looked down, and my dashboard read "low engine oil pressure." i found that warning odd considering i have only put 2,000 miles on my car since my last oil change, i have not noticed any oil leaks in my parking spot or under my car, and i had my transmission serviced four weeks ago and there was no mention of any leaks by the service technician. i pull into the walmart parking lot close by, check my oil, and oil levels are not registering on my dipstick. i quickly bought 2 quarts of the manufacturers recommended weight of oil, put them in, and went directly to my service station. the service station took me in immediately, completed their inspection, and they informed me that they cannot find any leaks anywhere. in addition, there are no bad smells, no smoke, no signs of oil burning, nothing. they recommended an oil change, which i did. the service station gave me a 50% discount on the service because it was only 2 months and 2,000 miles since i was last there for an oil change. the mechanic suggested that i keep a case of oil in my trunk, check the oil level once a week, and add oil as needed. i think this is a lot of oil consumption, and a lot of work for such a young vehicle. my car is a 2007 toyota camry xle 4 cylinder with 79,004 miles as of 21 april 2015. *tr
- 2007 camry has been consuming unreal amount of engine oil. - i took it to the delearship; and they mentioned replacement of pistons will be covered under factory warranty but if the engine is damaged they will not cover it. at this point, i am not even
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle shook violently when the brake pedal was depressed. in addition, when depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle lost power and accelerated without warning. the contact also stated that the vehicle lost oil after two or three days. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the radiator detached and leaked water, and the oil ring failed. both components needed to be replaced. the radiator was replaced; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 187,671.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine and low oil pressure warning lights illuminated. the contact was unable to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to a dealer who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 194,000. the vin was unavailable.
my car started using oil at 115,000-123,000 miles. i took it in 2-3 months ago and toyota performed an oil consumption test. my car used 1.6 quarts of oil during that time, it did not have any external leaks when they performed this test. i was told it was not under recall and this much oil consumption is normal. using the much oil is not normal and it was not using oil before the 115,000 miles. i was told since it was not under recall that if i wanted the valve seals repaired it would be under my expense. this is not a new complaint about the 2007 camry and the internet has numerous customers having excessive oil consumption and some were worse than mine. toyota should own up to this defect and fix it.
I own a 2007 toyota camry se and for the past several months i have been having issues with my car not starting if it is on unlevel ground. i assumed it was something in the gas i had recently purchased but that does not seem to be the case. if my car is parked on unlevel ground, i now have to place the gear in neutral and push the car to a level ground in order for it to start. i recently had it checked out by a mechanic and he told me that it had to be a sensor in the fuel pump causing my car to respond in one of two ways: 1) there was no gas in the tank or 2) the antitheft sensor was on and the car doesn't start if the vehicle has been stolen. i had a full tank at the time so option 1 was definitely not the case. this issue is continuous, is anyone else having this issue where your car won't start if you are on unlevel ground??? ...updated08/20/15 *bf the consumer stated the manufacturer was contacted. updated 11/27/15*js
Got an oil changed and about 3 weeks after heard engine making a funny knocking and ticking sound. looked under hood to check fluids and the oil was completely dry! had to fill it up w quarts of oil, and constantly dump oil into engine because it was burning up so rapidly every 2/3 weeks, mate nice light would come on indicating low oil, received a letter from toyota indicating they have a problem w the car consuming engine oil to rapidly, confronted the local dealer ship of my issue n they insist i must pay out of pocket to repair engine which now is knocking very loudly n has no acceleration at 95.00 an hr then they can perform engine oil consumption test to determine if that was the reason for my failure! which i know is!!! i have researched it and found there is a class action lawsuit on toyota dealing w this specific issue! how do i get my vehicle fixed with out having to pay for their engine failure and poor manufacturing? *tr
We got a warranty enhancement on our toyota which started to lose alot of oil we took to toyota green in lexington ky they had on their report we done over 2196 miles when started the test. which was completely wrong they said we only used 1/2 quart of oil so it was not losing enough oil emailed toyota considers oil consumption excessive when it exceeds 1.1 quart per 600 miles. my husband has been checking since took writes down mileage when he checks it had little over 900 miles on it and we had lost almost a quart of oil it liked 1/8 being a full court. of course they say it says it in the book what they can use. i have had exactly 4 toyotas and they have never done this. they told us that we can take back in 5000 miles or 6mo which ever comes first. this just does not sound right to me. my husband was not back there when they checked every think which next time he will be.their exact words they said when checked when they first checked it was slightly low added one qt of oil rechecked and it was little over. when it states in the book also never to put over the amount of oil in the car. *tr

When i was driving the vehicle i noticed when i get to a certain speed the check engine light start to flash until i slow down or the vehicle won't move until i park it turn it off for a few minutes and then turn it back on. so i took it to the dealership and they told me i need a new engine. *tr
Car is burning an excessive amount of oil, have to constantly check and fill the oil. its getting to the point that i am having to check and fill with oil once a week. is there anything that is going to be done about this????
I was driving about 30 miles an hour and approaching a stop sign and suddenly, all dashboard lights come on, the brakes stopped functioning. i lost control of the car briefly but was able to regain it and was eventually able to bring it to a stop. *tr
Excessive oil consumption is a problem. the vehicle uses three quarts of oil between 5,000 mile service. two oil consumptions tests were done. toyota stated not eligible for warranty. ....updated 11/18/15 *bf on my third oil consumption test which i had to pay for, it had a positive result. toyota is going to pay for the repair because it qualifies. mainly because it uses 4 quarts of oil now between changes every 5000 miles now. thanks just want you to know what the deal is now. updated 02/29/16. *jb
