Recently reported VISIBILITY problems on 2007 Toyota Camry

The dashboard on my camry is melting causing a sticky residue. my safety concern is while driving the car, sun causes a glare on to the windshield preventing me from seeing any on coming traffic, or objects. without clear visibility driving this car has caused me several near head on collisions with ongoing traffic. driving this car i purchased scares me that this is issue will cause me an accident which could take my life or someone else on road i may hit. toyota was aware of the dash issue years prior but only fixed some of this defected dashes by creating a warranty enhancement. if the problem was present or known it was replaceable with in their window of time, they will not make their defected dash correct. i realize over time all components of a car have wear and tear. this is not that issue at all. this is a issue of a dash being used that has a chemical while in sun melts. there was two prior class action lawsuits and to prevent a recall and notifying all owners of this defect and correcting it for the safety of drivers in their product but also drivers in other autos which are now at danger if this viability causes a camry driver to collide with their auto. this defect effects all drivers on the highway not just the toyota drivers. i have been to and called toyota several times pertaining to this issue and my fear of driving. i have simply been able to get no recourse for this defect. i am very aware of the cost to fix this defect however i feel the cost of every life replacing this dash saves is worth well more than the cost to replace the defected dash. i plead for you to investigate a huge problem & the trap involved with the warranty enhancement toyota implemented versus recalling the dashboards, getting them off the road to make highway driving safer for non toyota owners simply driving & owners which could potentially pay with their life. thanks

The sun visor broke when i was using it while the sun was coming down. it's a safety hazard since the sun blinds you. toyota does not produce reliable cars like they used to. *tr

The driver sun visor became loose ad will not stay in place creating a hazard to the driver. the visor is in my face and obstructs my vision. *js

While driving the visor dropped down obscuring view of the road. visor was previously deployed to block the sun. i readjusted the visor to be closer to the windshield then something within the assembly snapped and it lowered. in the lowered position it is in the position where it blocks the most view through the wind shield. *tr

I was driving about 75 mph going wb on i-8 heading out of tucson july 14, 2014. i started to smell a faint burning, which i thought was the car in front of me. the smell became more intense and smelled like something electrical was frying. it is a very specific smell. i thought for a second that something was happening in my steering wheel but then noticed smoke coming up through my window control buttons. i immediately pulled over and turned off the car. the smoking stopped. i called a tow truck and a cop waited with me in 105 degree weather. i was towed back to tucson to a toyota dealership. they told me there was an electrical shortage and that i would need to pay over $500 to repair it. i have not done that but instead, i had them cut power to my windows so i can continue to drive the car immediately. i feel that there was definitely a possibility of fire but thank goodness there wasn't. please reference nhtsa campaign number: 12v491000 from october from 2012. i feel like the same issue applies to me (and possibly the other cars manufactured with mine) and should be investigated further. thank you so much. *tr

I have seen complaints about the driver side sun visor wearing out on 2007 camry. no recalls and people being left to pay for repair or to get a replacement. this has happened with my camry. the visor arm broke out of my visor. it first would not stay up when not needed then it just completely broke. i think this is an issue that should be covered by toyota. it is a safety hazard. i have never had a car that the visor wore out. *tr

Initial burning smell coming from driver door. when the vehicle was turned on, there were visible flames appearing in the contol buttons of the driver's side power master switch. *tr

Sun visor on drivers side detached while driving at a high rate of speed. almost causing a accident. sun visor on passenger side is rotated downward blocking field of vision. *tr

The driver`s & passenger side sun visor doesn't stay where it should be, not up all the way or down all the way. very bad visibility and not comfortable feeling . *tr

The sun visor on the driver side fell down while i was driving, it would not stay up on it's own, almost hit the car in front of me when they stop, which i couldn't see until i had push the sun visor out of the way. this is a major safely problem that i called toyota about but they said they have not issued a recall on this problem even though alot of other owners are having the same problem. *tr

The drivers side visor began flapping down, while i was driving along with my family in the car with me. this unfortunately this was not the first time this had occurred as the driver (myself) attempted to adjust it while operating the vehicle, which nearly caused a collision. the visor no longer would stay put at all and needed to pull over on the side of the freeway to remove the visor in order for the vehicle to be considered safe to drive, and i did not want to put myself and others at risk of going into accident while driving under this unsafe condition. this seems to be a flaw by the manufacturer. i am the only driver of this camry which is in very gently-used condition. *jb

I have a 2007 toyota camry and i purchased a extended warranty when i bought the car in 2007 that warranty expired august 1, 2013 a few days after it had expired my driver side visor will not stay up! i do not hang anything on it like cd holder or anything. it is driving me crazy because it makes it very hard to see the road when i am driving and i feel this should be recalled sense there has been multiple complaints for the 2007 camry with this same situation and it is a safety problem for many camry owners. the visor sometimes even hits me in the head when i try to get out of my car. i have had many issues with this car from day one and i am not very happy that this has not been recalled yet. seems like toyota does not care for the safety of their customers. also on top of the visor my shock coil broke on the passenger side which the extended warranty did cover sense it happened before august 1st but now the strut is leaking oil on that same side, i brought it to the toyota dealer in june 2013 and they told me they won't replace it because even though it is leaking oil it is not 100% broken yet and told me the warranty wont cover it until it completely blows! i told them i have a young child that i have to think of this safety along with mine and was shocked that even though it is leaking oil (which is not good) cause at any moment while driving it can bust that toyota doesn't recognize it, its not like it will heal on its own so i feel it should have been replaced under my warranty that i paid almost $1000.00 for when i purchased the car! i hope toyota will recall the visor issue for their customers. i am going to contact toyota directly on monday to see if i can get anywhere with this safety issue. *tr

I entered my car and noticed my drivers side sun visor was hanging. i tried to put it up, but it kept falling down about 3-4 inches, just so it was perfectly in my eyesight and creating a hazard. i ended up removing the shade completely so i was able to drive safely and it wasn't until today that i decided i would search the internet for a replacement shade for my car that i found countless, identical complaints. this really is a serious safety issue considering it blocks the drivers' view of the road. *tr

While driving the visor in front of the driver flipped down in front of driver's line of vision making it difficult to see traffic signals in front of car and some of other traffic. was able to slow and move visor out of the way. when pushed into upward position the visor will sometimes stay up until the vehicle hits a bump or driver begins to decelerate, then visor flips down into line of vision. *tr

Driver's side sunvisor will not stay up. removed visor and the entire plastic is broken. visor is very rarely used and according to internet blogs this is a very common, ridiculous issue for this vehicle. *tr

There is a issue with the sun visor. i was driving and the sun visor just dropped down in front of my face. i tried to push it back up but it would not stay. i few days later the same thing happen to the other sun visor. *tr

The driver's side sun visor became loose and broken. it cannot be used because it flops down into the vision of the driver while driving. it had to be removed from the car. *tr

When driving on the no 1 lane (by the carpool lane), an suv crossed the double yellow lines and rear ended my left side at approximate 40mph. my passengers were shaken up while i was taken to the er. i did noticed that my airbags did not deploy. after the accident i did some searching and came to find out that airbags for this particular model do not deploy!!! not to mentioned that prior to this finding, i had taken my car back to the dealer for an accelerator issue. also pending is the sun visor recall as well. *tr

On march 5 as i was driving home from work on the fdr in ny i started to smell smoke and noticed that a fire was emerging from the compartment in front of the shift control area. i immediately pulled over and jumped out in time before my car was fully inflamed; the entire interior of the vehicle burned down. an inspection of my care revealed that it did not come from the engine (as it is still intact) and i believe it was electrical in nature (as i had an event in 2010 where the power control for the window caught on fire and melted-this caused the windows to not work, which is my reason in reporting the non functioning windows to toyota). i had my car serviced by toyota a week prior to this incident and i just don't understand how something like this could happen and now after the fact (i have contacted toyota myself) there is no review for the safety/potential electrical fires/malfunctions for these cars. although i escaped physically unharmed, the tragedy of the event is still fresh in my mind and it is my hope that this is something that can be looked into. *tr

In driveway at our home passenger went to move visor and discovered the part of the visor that sits in the holder to keep it in place was no longer firm and appeared to be coming apart. in order not to make the visor inoperable, the owners determined not to try to move the visor to keep it from becoming further impaired. now when the sun is coming into the car window from the side making passenger or driver vision difficult, the visor is of no use in blocking it. *tr

The driver side window opened or closed slowly and made noise at the beginning. a few days later, the window wouldn't open or close. i called toyota company who said it's not in the recall list and they have nothing to do with it. the manner was very bad and ignorant. *tr

The sun visor fell down on me as i was driving on the freeway. this is dangerous and a cause for concern. i contacted both the toyota dealership and toyota customer service, and was informed by both that even though there is an extended warranty for exactly this issue for 2007 camrys, it only applies to american-made cars. since my car was made in japan, it is not covered, even though the symptoms are exactly the same and i would fall under the same repair program. this is a dangerous issue and toyota should fix it. *tr

2007 toyota camry. consumer writes in regards to power window recall notice. *smd the consumer stated after learning about the recall on october 11, 2012, she didn't receive the notice, until november 30, 2012. *jb

The driver's side sun visor will not stay up. it keeps flopping down and affects visibility. *tr

2007 toyota camry. consumer writes in regards to dissatisfactory repair work on vehicles power window unit and doors. *smd the consumer stated prior to his visit to the dealer, the automatic door locks worked fine on the driver and rear doors. upon reaching work a few hours later after the recall repair, three of the doors would not lock. the consumer returned to the dealer and an inspection revealed all three actuators were dead. the consumer was informed it would cost$ 1,800 to fix. the dealer stated it was a coincidence that the door locks stopped working after the recall was performed on the power window unit.

Rear view mirror inside became detached from the windshield. a piece of the windshield came off with the mirror. we are now faced with possibly having to replace the windshield. *tr

Today my window on the passer side started acting up not rolling up or down. i parked went in to the bank when i came out started my car and as soon as i backed up i noticed a burning smell then i seen little smoke from the window panel switch then it got heavy and started to burn. i opened my door and started blowing in the switch and the window crack. i went on line and seen that this has happened with my car make and year. *tr

The driver side sun visor was kind of rough, past one year. it won't move or will get jammed. last week it came apart with metal hook hanging. this is despite the fact that i keep my car like a baby. it's in immaculate condition (just like out of showroom condition) it was extremely freighting as it will keep falling off every few miles. i had to duct tape the whole thing, so as to drive back home. pls. urgently instruct toyota to put this into recall before somebody looses his life driving 2007 toyota camry because of poor quality visor. *tr

On august 24th , 2012, around 4:34pm, i was traveling in my 2007 toyota camry on ridge road in dayton nj. all of a sudden i smell something like burning plastic, seconds later i observed smoke coming from the driver side power-window switch. i managed to pull over safely and as soon as i jumped out of the vehicle, a small flame appeared from the power window switch. while calling 911 for help, i managed to put the fire out with a gallon of tide detergent i have in my trunk before dayton fire department arrived. i am not sure if toyota is aware of this problem and i don't where to lodge my complain. the is currently at dch collision center waiting for the insurance company to inspect. *tr

Sun visor on driver side just dropped while driving, impeding my vision of traffic in front of me. after researching on various online forums i realized that this is a known defect, so i decided to report it. *tr

On saturday august 11 2012 i was driving about 25 mph then i smelled smoke, seconds later i saw smoke coming out of the driver side door by the power window switch. i pulled over and disconnected the battery then i took the door apart and observed the actual window switch melted. i disconnected the power window switch and was able to safely drive home safely and are currently waiting for tomorrow monday as the toyota dealer service department is not open on sunday's. now im not able to open or close the windows but at least i prevented my car from catching on fire. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the front driver's side sun-visor flipped downward. the vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. the failure mileage was 117,000. updated 9/26/12 *cn the consumer stated toyota replaced the sun visor under an extended warranty. updated 09/27/12*jb

The driver and passenger side sun visor just hang down, this is a safety issue. these sun visor are horrible is quality. i can't believe toyota has not recalled this issue. *tr

Both the sun visor on the driver's side and passenger side have broken. they flop down and won't stay up. the driver side visor hung right in the line of sight of the driver. i had to hold it up with my left hand while driving so that i could see, until i could drive home and remove it. both visors have been removed, which causes another hazard of sun glare for the driver. sunglasses alone do not block the sun well enough. i still become blinded by the sun and have to block the sun with my hand. very hazardous. dealerships are charging around $175 per visor. at the very minimum, toyota needs to replace the visors at their cost of the visor with free labor. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry se. the contact stated that the driver's side sun visor would not remain in an upward secure position and distorted the contact's visibility of the roadway when driving at various speeds. the failure would also occur when the vehicle was stationary. the vehicle has been repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 65,400. ..updated 09/07/12 *bf the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired by the dealer with no cost to the consumer. updated 09/18/2012 *js

Driver's side visor dangles by the left side arm, impeding visibility. visor will not stay in normal, upright position nor is it able to be manipulated so it's not in my view. *tr

I pulled the driver side visor down to block the sun and it broke and was just hanging there by some fabric. had to quickly pull over into the ditch to prevent an accident. no happy that there hasn't been a recall on this since i see from all the blogs that this has been an issue for quite some time. *tr

Sun visor has broken and drops down to block drivers view. this has happened on both sides, though not simultaneously. visor must be held in out of the way position until something such as tape can be fixed to hold it up. given the suddenness of the incident, it could cause loss of view at a critical time. *tr

Driver's sunvisor broke and hung down blocking my vision while driving. i think this is a safety issue that should be addressed. *tr

My toyota camry 2007 has defected the visor won't stay up if flops down and is difficult to see to drive. it can't be moved to the side either, as it is broken at the top. this is a safety concern, a lot of toyota owners has this same problem. toyota should be has recall this defective part replacement. *tr
