Known issue of excessive oil consumption where the oil change light comes on just into 1,000 miles after changing oil. the local dealer at ira toyota of tewksbury, ma.01876 - tried to fix the problem the first time but the problem came back or was still there. i have since complained to toyota us at 1-800-331-4331 they opened a case#1701232302 for my issue but now say that the local toyota and even regional stores cannot take my car back to fix it again the local store says that i am out of warranty because i came back after 14,379 miles i am now stuck with a car that has already stopped on me right in the middle of the street - with the steering wheeling blocking suddenly and for me having to veer quickly on the curb while the steering wheel is hard to control. i can hear a squeeling noise when i change gears ( manual car) and when i put the foot on the clutch. the car shakes a lot when i change gears and i am about to stop. i am afraid for my safety and of course lots of inconveniences because i cannot use this car for many activities involving my family or just anywhere past 10 miles of my house. i am hoping that i can get help with this issue which is a known issue by toyota, an issue that they did not fix properly in the first place and now they are just hoping that i can go away by denying me my rights to proper service. i told toyota us that it does not make sense how a known issue can be fixed and just within 1 year it comes back.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled. the air bag, abs, check engine, and other warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was restarted, but the failure recurred shortly afterwards. the contact mentioned that the failure was intermittent and occurred on several occasions. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 95,000.
My camry is having excessive engine oil consumption! i just went 2000 miles and i am out of oil. toyota is saying my year and make should be burning 1 quart of oil every 1000-1200 miles and that is normal. have they lost there minds!!! that is not normal!!!! there is a serious problem with there engine. to say a issue is normal shows there integrity. i do my maintenance when i am to do so. i have a show car that i have put alot of money in and now im forced to pay for there mess ups.. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the vehicle was burning oil excessively, approximately two quarts per week. the vehicle was taken to tufankjian toyota of braintree (210 union street, braintree, ma 02184) where a fuel consumption test was completed. it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact did not receive a notification regarding the extended repair deadline. the manufacturer was notified and opened case number: 1706022014. no further assistance was provided. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 115,000.
Vehicle has a oil consumption issue that has lead to engine failure. vehicle consumes oil quickly without signs of oil leak. we changed the oil and discovered it was using a large amount of oil in a short time period. driver was not aware oil was being consumed at such a high rate. driver only discovered issue after recently changing oil and checking it. the only reason we checked the oil is because we heard knocking sounds from the engine. when we checked the dip stick it had no oil.
This vehicle uses an excessive amount of oil that could result in engine failure.
The car keeps consuming too much oil. i have to put in new oil about every 1,000 miles.
In 2013, i suspected there was an issue with oil consumption & asked the mb service center to begin investigating the issue. at that time, the warranty that came with the car was still active. i returned after driving 1,000-1,200 miles & was told that they were not able to ascertain whether there was a true issue and that it would cost me $800 to open the engine. i left the dealership. in early 2016, i received the t-sb-0158-14 service bulletin from toyota notifying me that i could take the car in to have this exact issue resolved at no cost. i took the car in to the culver city location, but i returned 3 hours later to find that no work had been done. a member of the service team advised that there was an oil leak that needed to be repaired before they could begin the consumption test. this is my first issue with toyota's service. toyota shifted the responsibility to have this oil leak fixed on to me even though i made them aware of an oil related issue more than 2 years prior. a knowledgeable service center member would have known that defective pistons and rings is a directly related cause of a leak. being that i was not a knowledgeable consumer at that time, the service center was able to shift this responsibility on to me. i had the oil leak repaired and attempted to have this issue addressed a 3rd time when i called to schedule a service appointment in november 2016. the person who answered the phone asked what the reason was for my visit. i explained that i wanted to come back to initiate the oil consumption test and was advised that i had just missed the cut off and that they were not repairing any more vehicles after october 31, 2016. this is my second issue with culver city toyota's service. there was secondary coverage available for me at that time and i was not made aware of that option. my car would have been eligible for repairs on all three occasions
Toyota will not honor recall of bad rings. have wasted many work days at dealer ship. have gotten proof that there is a problem they refuse to honor extension. burns 2 and a 1/4 quarts of oil in 1100 miles!
So after loving my 2007 toyota camry for many good years, my heartache started when it began using oil to the tune of visible loss on dipstick at 800 miles. i was shocked to find little or no oil on the dip stick so i started watching it closely. i confirmed that my 2007 toyota camry car burns a bit more than 2 quarts every 800-1000 miles. i later found out about the oil consumption issue by researching this problem in the internet and found this site on https://www.docdroid.net/pehbl1s/toyota-letter-ze7.pdf.html. i called toyota and asked them about the excessive oil consumption on my 2az-fet and i told them i own 2007 toyota camry 4cyl le, they asked if i had received the oil consumption issue notice via toyota. i told them i never rec'd notice and was told i was time barred, was not eligible to get it fixed? my car is out of warranty as the primary coverage offered warranty enhancement ended on october 31, 2016 regardless of mileage and the secondary coverage was applicable for 10 years from the (dofu) date of first use or 150,000 miles, whichever occurs first. my car has done 158000 miles. i need help *tr
Excessive oil consumption issue. toyota will now offer any coverage or warranty. issue just started showing itself this past fall and once i learned of the technical service bulletin, toyota said it was past their 10/31/16 date and the fact that the care was past the 10 year pis date (by 4 days). they now say this is a wear and tear issue. there is something wrong here with this many problems for many, many camry owners and no type of recall was ever issued. very frustrating and very disappointing in toyota. have had no other issues with this car or with toyota in my 10 years of ownership. will now never purchase another toyota again.
Excessive oil consumption - not safe my family is extremely loyal to the toyota brand and we have never had any major issues with an of our vehicles in the past. i noticed that my 2007 camry se 2.4l v4 had been burning oil extremely fast a little over a year ago.at first, a mechanic told me that i needed to change my valve cover gasket as that was what he presumed to be the root cause of the issue. after i paid to get that replaced i noticed that my engine was still burning oil at an extremely fast rate. i proceeded to change my pcv valve and switch to a synthetic-blend. nothing at all has helped with the oil consumption. it is draining my pockets and time. multiple mechanics have confirmed that there are no oil leaks. i am so disappointed because this issue is extremely draining and unsafe.my car burns over 1 quart every thousand miles. i believe there is an issue with my engine, i've read similar complaints about this and need to get this fixed. i hope that toyota can help me with this issue.
New water pump installed at time of purchase in 2013 at 89k miles. engine currently at 151k miles as of 10/2016 and water pump needs replacing again. estimated ~$1200+ for 15hrs labor and parts.
The engine is burning oil excessively. it is losing about 2 quarts of oil every 1500 miles.
2007 toyota camry bought used with 62,500 miles on october 4, 2016. on october 8th i was exiting off the highway slowly easing off the gas pedal to decrease my speed and my car shuts down!!!! stops running !!! i lost the power steering of course. did at least two and a half 360's until i came to a stop in the middle of a 3 lane road. it happened so fast i have no idea how i kept it from leaving the road. took it back to the dealer i purchased it from. they couldn't find anything wrong with the front end. their thoughts are it shut off and to go buy fuel injector the next time i get gas. i could have been seriously injured with this happening. now i'm so paranoid about driving the car and feel very unsafe.
I have just purchased the car one month ago as a preowned one. after about 15 days the oil lid turned on while i was moving to my school. i filled in the car with an original oil. i checked the oil stick after i left the car for 4 hours and it was at the max level. two weeks later, i checked again the oil in the car using the oil stick and it was below min tick. i have already replaced the valve gasket cover but the same issue still there. by the way, the car doesn't show any black or blue smoke in the exhaust and there is no sign of oil leak on the engine outside body. the car is no longer on warranty. i am frusterated and i don't know what to do!.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving 45 mph, the vehicle began to vibrate and stalled without warning. the vehicle was able to restart on the second attempt; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the piston rings failed and needed to be rebuilt. the vehicle was not repaired. in addition, the dealer mentioned there was a technical service bulletin, but the contact exceeded the expiration date. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 116,000.
Law oil after 1200 miles
After 1200 miles, i took the car back to toyota for second part of their oil consumption test, and was told it didn't use any oil. after picking up my car up from my trusted mechanic (who said 2/3 of toyota's recommended repairs totaling over $1600 were not true), i was told he had to add oil b/c it was low. this is yet another example of toyota lying to customers so they do not have to incur costs or issue a valid recall. they claim burning oil is "normal", and only if their "test" proves so, they would replace the piston rings - they are lying about these test results to avoid having to do the expensive repair.
There is a defect in the engine where the oil is leaking and burning in the engine, i did not receive the initial notifications. when i called toyota of gastonia, they advised me that it would not be covered under the recall. i found out today that it would have been covered due to the second clause of 10 years of first use. i was still well with in the time frame, but i was not told that was an option. and they are telling me that they will not fix it.
The engine is eating about 1 quart of oil every 2500 miles. the car currently has 145,000 miles. car was checked by 2 mechanics and no oil leak was detected.
2007 toyota camry se 2.4l 4 cyl, consumes oil at a staggering rate. due to this increased rate of oil consumption, increased maintenance costs inevitably occur. this oil consumption occurs any time the car's engine is running, occurring even more at high speeds of operation. the car will occasionally lurch when being driven, creating opportunity for an accident to occur in the wrong conditions. before driving for prolonged high speeds, i check the oil level to ensure there is enough to prevent a seized engine. the results of such a problem would be catastrophic at high speeds. these increased maintenance costs as well as the potential dangers caused by the increased oil consumption of my car provide more than ample justification for an official complaint.
I am having to add 1-2 quarts of engine oil to my engine 1000-1200 miles after regularly scheduled oil changes. *tr
After regularly scheduled oil changes, i am having to replenish 1-2 quarts of oil 1000-1200 miles after the oil change. *tr
I am filing complaint on 2007 camry because of excessive oil consumption. from research on issue, i understand that safety issues can occur due to the engines siezing up and the car can quit running while i'm driving. not sure about engine catching fire. i have persued different avenues with toyota to correct issue since the problem stems from factory engineering. but to no avail. this was already an issue at time i purchased vehicle with 64,190 miles. however, i was not informed of any tsb nor received any notifications of problems. i have had car serviced approximately every 3,000 miles with motorcraft oil. it was not until 8-25-17 when i was asked to sign a disclaimer letting me know oil was off dipstick. when i checked previous records i found out the camry had been low on oil ( off stick) each time serviced. (my 1997 camry i owned prior to this 2007 never used any oil in between changes and it had 176,000 miles on it when i let it go). thus, after the 8-25-17 service and doing research i became aware of toyota's issues and thus began a fruitless battle with toyota. it seems that even though i began following up with toyota as soon as i became aware of issue 8-25-17 that my dofu was 6-27-07. due to no fault of my own i just missed the deadline. however, i believe wholeheartedly that this is their responsibility and that toyota should stand behind their product since it is an engineering problem.
After toyota completing an oil consumption test they informed us they add 1 qt of oil and then measure how low it was after the added oil in the 1200 mile test and concluded the 1/2qt low was not enough to warrant repairs to the engine, knowing they have a defect in the engine piston rings it was actually 1 1/2 qt low in total and they wont fix the problem and said it could cost us in the area of 3-4,000$
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced a loss of engine power and black smoke appeared from the front end. the contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and noticed a trail of oil coming from the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine failed due to the vehicle having no oil. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 93,325.

Hi, please find the attachment. thanks
Went to have my oil check because my engine light came on / my mechanic check the oil stick there was no oil in the car at all. so he check to make sure there was no oil leak there was none. that is when we went to the web site and found out about the oil complication problem. touch my car to scott clark toyota and they said there was a recall on my car. they had me drive it a couple of weeks until i reached the mileage they needed for me to get it tested again took it back on 7/23/16 it passed the test and they told me that it was good and that it was only lossing a quart of oil . they would not fix my car because it passed the test. now i have a car that i need to have repaired because i do not have the money to get another car. with me driving the car with the oil light coming on was my sign to stop and have it checked. if i would have not the engine would have blowned. so i need to know what i can do to now to get these people to fix my car asap.they also told me that it would be six months down the road before i could get it repaired because they already had a backlog of cars that are waiting to be repaired. this was before they let me know it had passed the test. brad bennick of scott clark toyato told me i could drive my car another 200,00 more miles with this oil problem. i know that if you have a oil leake there's know way you can continue to drive a car with that problem. so i need someone to help me in this matter. scott clarks is a place i thought cared about there customers but i will not be buying another car from them or telling anyone to purchase a car from this company. so what should i do? this happen on 6/11/16 and took my car in on 6/13/16 for the first oil test.
This camry burns 1 quart of oil almost weekly and is always needing toyota's suggested 5w 20 added. if this car were not checked weekly it would burn up. toyota has been contacted but refuses to do anything.has been been going on since 90000 miles.
90,000 and now burns 1 qt oil every 1200 miles. oil light comes on at 3 quarts low. shouldn't it come on well before that? like one qt low.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving 65 mph, a loud clunking noise was heard from the steering column. the steering wheel vibrated without warning. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was consuming approximately 3/4 quarts of oil. in addition, the dealer stated that the vehicle may need a new engine because of the rapid oil consumption. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 59,600.
My father-in-law is a auto mechanic. he changes the oil in my 2007 toyota camry every 2500-3500 miles. this is well before the recommended 5,000 mile service reminder light comes on. the car always burned oil but over the last year he has noticed that the car is burning significantly more oil. he recommended that i take the car to the toyota dealer for a oil consumption test. i took the car to route 44 toyota in raynham ma for the oil consumption test. i brought the car in with 147,212 miles for the test and a oil change. i was told to bring the car back between 148,212 - 148,512 miles. i noticed that after i original brought the car in for the the test, the car would idles at 800 rpm when stopped, after the oil change and test the car idle at 500-600 rpm. i brought the car back to route 44 toyota for phase ii of the oil consumption test with 148,290 miles. the serviced advisor said that the car passed the oil consumption test and was only down 1/2 a quart of oil. the car burns more than a quart of oil every 1,000 miles but the dealer is telling me that it doesn't. i also noticed that the car was back to idling at 800 rpm when stopped.
Oil consumption. i had the oil changed at the dealership in may when i started noticing consumption. i happened to check the oil a couple of weeks later and it wasn't even touching the stick, so i added 2 quarts of oil and took it back to the dealer and asked them if they even changed the oil. they of course said yes and we kept noticing it burning quite a bit of oil. i took it to a my mechanic and he immediately knew toyota had a recall on this model burning oil and advised us to take it to the dealership to conduct their test. we did the test which was drive it 1200 miles and bring it back and of course they said it only burnt a little over a half of a quart. i have been putting oil in this car most of the summer sometimes less than 1200 miles well over a quart. i have read several blogs and see where toyota has been sued over this issue. i just want my car fixed. thank you *tr
I purchased my car used about 4 months ago i checked the oil shortly after purchase and it was nearly full. i recently had low oil engine pressure warning light come on. i checked my oil and had barely anything left. my car is somehow going through about a quart of oil every thousand miles or so and yet there is no evidence of a leak in my driveway.
Letter from senator warren on behalf of constituent in regards to toyota unwilling to fix car. *ld the consumer stated the vehicle experienced excessive engine oil consumption. the manufacture was notified and denied assistance due to the vehicle not being located in usa. the consumer is in the united states military stationed in germany. therefore, the manufacturer would not honor the warranty. the consumer believed the manufacturer should make an exception for military personnel. updated 09/20/2017*js *js
I adhered to the recall ze7 oil consumption test notice issued by toyota. over the next 6months water/coolant was leaking into my engine through what i learned could have been a faulty engine head gasket. my 2007 camry had never run hot before toyota took my engine apart and put it back together. they do not want to admit their error. the oil dip stick showed signs of water oil mixture. later it was like milk. this is when the engine stopped on me in rush hour traffic from over heating. i have been working with the dealer and toyota headquarters since april 2016 to resolved this. got the run around. some technician was scheduled to review this in april and may 2016 but has not. what should i do?
There was a recall on my 2007 toyota camry. in february 2016 toyota took possession of my vehicle for 3-4 weeks to repair or rebuild the engine to comply with the recall requirements. i was provided a loaner car during that period. during the less than 2 month period between when my car was returned to me on 2/18/16 and april 10, 2016, i did not take my car to any repair shop nor did i touch the engine for any reason. apparently toyota did not properly repair the vehicle when the recall repairs were done. on 4/10/16, while i was driving on the new jersey turnpike, the engine self-destructed, there was a loud noise, smoke engulfed the engine and then it ceased running. i had the vehicle towed to the nearest toyota dealership for warranty repair. on 4/11/16, i called toyota for warranty payment to be made to the dealership so the engine could be repaired or replaced, i was told that first i had to pay for the $5,800 work to be done and then toyota would reimburse me once i showed that i had all my service receipts that i had properly maintained my vehicle. this was an outrageous position for toyota to take, because the car was released to me after toyota thoroughly worked on it for 3-4 weeks and inspected it before releasing the car to me on 2/18/16. what possible maintenance would i have done in under two (2) months. i am also a low income wage earner and to require me to fund $5,800 and wait for reimbursement was unduly burdensome. couple with the fact that the toyota of princeton informed me that i would not be given a complimentary loaner car during the repair period. the cost of alternative transportation and advancing $5,800 was impossible and a clever way for toyota to avoid their financial responsibility under the warranty. instead, i saw no alternative but to accept the offer of princeton toyota to give me $2000 credit toward the price of a used car.
My camry has check engine light on and oil needed to be changed once again in less than 3 months. toyota has a recall on oil burning up but they checked last time and said it's okay. evidently it's not. the mechanic recommended brake booster for the engine light issue which costs from $750-$1,200 which is hard to afford. this kind of issue can cost your life. toyota needs to recall this and fix it since so many other people have the same issue.
My car burns one quartet of oil for every 1000 miles , although there is no oil leakage on either engine or ground. there is no smoke either. toyota dealership has refused to admit that burning 3 quartets of oil for every 3000 mile is not normal . this car is a toyota camry se 2007
Toyota has admitted on 2011 in its technical service bulletin that the engine defect in my 2007 toyota camry exhibits excessive oil consumption due to the design defect of the 2az-fe engine. it requires a piston assembly change to minimize oil consumption however the toyota dealership refuses to repair it at their own cost, this is a very significant repair costing thousands of dollars to fix. they notified me that they will not cover repairs to the engine due to an arbitrary 150,000 mile limit and a very limited time window between 2015 to 2016, after i had already spent money on repairs. this also diminshes the value of my car and more importantly exposes our family to significant safety issues. the engine continues to lose oil, and the engine becomes completely depleted of oil at the time of an oil change (every 3,000 miles) which can lead to engine failure in a moving vehicle and potential injury and loss of life. this is a very serious defect and toyota refuses to fix.
Excessive oil usage
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a manufacturer's satisfaction campaign for the water pump. during the dissembling of the vehicle, the technician notified the contact that the vehicle had a 2003 motor and that the repairs could not be performed. the vehicles water pump and tensioners were repaired, however during a test drive at the dealer the technician blew a block in the engine. the vehicle was towed back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle would need a new motor. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 137,000.
I had problems with my cars oil consumption and was never notified from toyota that there was a recall back in may 2015 for engine oil consumption repair. the shop is now telling me i have a blown piston from what they can hear. i have records that i never missed an oil change and even have proof from firestone complete care when my car was checked for oil leaks. there were none found. toyota is refusing to repair my vehicle because they said it's too late to do an oil consumption test. i also sent toyota proof of my oil changes from firestone dated 12/13/14, 4/11/15, 6/29/15, 8/22/15, 10/08/15, 11/14/15 and 1/3/16. my car was towed into community toyota on 3/23/16.
/c problems. the service guy stated the problem was not with work toyota did on the car. it has been one thing after another. i love my toyota. this is lousy service. i know it has been quite some time since all of this was done. i just have not felt up to voicing my complaint. unhappy with toyota service at herrin gear toyota in jackson, ms.
Low oil due to overver-consumption: my car engine overheated and almost burnt because of oil overconsumption and i had to take the car and get oil change and got a report proving the very low oil level.
The car using 1qt of oil every 300 miles , toyota ran oil consumption test , told me nothing wrong with the car , the car still using the same amount of oil .
I have 2007 camry with a ticking noise coming from engine, but check engine light coming on. take it to dealer n tell them i couldnt read no codes because no check engine light. can hou guys hook up to your computer? service advisor said ok we'll take a look. when they're done, advisor told me we couldnt get no codes there's no check engine light, &charged me $159. 2 tell me what i originally told him. rip off.
