Problems with 2007 Toyota Camry ENGINE

On average, the 2007 Toyota Camry starts to “feel” problems with the ENGINE and its various aspects after 110 465 miles.

Recently reported ENGINE problems on 2007 Toyota Camry

I went to world toyota on 3/1/13 to get normal scheduled maintenance. i mentioned the check engine light came on while i was on the way to the dealership. a diagnostic test was performed and reported that i needed a r/r camshaft timing gear replaced.the check engine light was reset. i was told i didn't have to replace the part at that time, but would have to get it replaced when the light comes on again.the check engine light and maintenance req lights came on 6/11.i had a diagnostic run. i was told the camshaft gear needed to be replaced.i contacted world toyota to have the part ordered and made an appt to come in on 6/21. on 6/17, i heard 2 loud popping noises. i checked the oil b/c there was smoke coming from the oil pan. i checked the dip stick twice and noticed it was dry. i placed 3 quarts of motor oil in the car.i started the engine. it started making a knocking sound. i parked and contacted world toyota to explain the situation. i towed the car to the dealership on 6/19.the svc advisor told me the short block engine needed to be replaced; this was due to no fault of my own.there were no normal warning signs: check oil light or black smoke. i got all the recommended svcs at the correct intervals. when i asked where the oil went, i was told it evaporated.the inspection report states i need refurbished engine or a new short block for $5,500 and $6,400. i was told those were the best prices that world toyota could offer because the car is no longer under warranty. i called the toyota cx exp ctr to voice my complaint and explained there are no recalls for this issue, but there are complaints for this same issue, oil consumption. i was told they could reimburse me $2,000 for replacing the engine or give me $1,000 off the purchase of a new or used toyota vehicle once i submit an invoice stating i paid for the svc and that the engine was replaced by world toyota. *tr

Engine started using about 3 quarts of oil after 1500 miles. i contacted toyota and was told this was a "normal" condition. the reply even noted this condition is identified in the owners manual. i think this is a poorly designed engine and toyota knew about this during installation. they are refusing to recall these cars and make the proper repairs, which could be costly for toyota. *tr

The engine light goes on before the scheduled oil change because there is no oil and the stick is dry. because of this problem i have to refill the oil frequently. i was told by the service people that the oil is burning out, which has a negative effect on the environment. *tr

Excessive oil consumption between oil maintenance requirements. *tr

I bought this car at 78000 about 2 months after i noticed i had to put oil like once a month the car is not leaking oil. now a year later i have to put a quart in and the car is not leaking oil and blowing any dark smoke. this is a problem. *tr

My 2007 camry is consuming around 3.5 quarts between 5000miles oil change intervals. this consumption is quite high by any standard . i believe that this is some sort of a manufacturing/design flaw which comes up once the vehicle comes out of warranty period. there are no leaks or visible signs of oil loss, i hate to say the engine is burning the oil and polluting the environment. toyota should acknowledge and fix this problem for all camry customers. *tr

Due to a defect in the design of a hose, a leak developed in this hose and almost all of the oil leaked out of the engine. no warning light went on. we noticed abnormal noises coming out of the engine and brought the car to our local mechanic. we spent $400 with them as they diagnosed and tried to fix the problem. unfortunately after spending this money they are unable to get the car to start. it is very likely the car has suffered substantial engine damage and any future diagnosis and repairs could result in thousands of dollars or repairs. this defect has resulted in catastrophic failure to the engine of our car. presently our car is inoperable and sitting in our parking lot. we are not in a position to spend money to fix a problem that is clearly due to bad design and inferior parts by toyota. in doing extensive research on the internet, we found out this is a known defect with this oil hose. this is clearly the fault of toyota and not us and many other toyota customers. we contacted toyota and they refused to do anything unless we paid to have the car towed to them and pay them to diagnose the problem. this is a major safety problem, having an engine fail on a highway at high speeds or locally could cause significant injury. in spite of our contact with toyota, they are refusing to do the right thing and fix our car. other toyota owners are currently at risk as if their engine fails in transit significant injury or death can occur to a car when the engine fails. *tr

Uses excessive oil - oil is low before it is time for scheduled oil change. when motor is put in reverse, the motor vibrates ( even the front seats). it vibrates and makes noises when driving or just idle.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the piston and rings needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 133,000. the vin number was not available. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the engine block needed to be replaced because it was burning oil. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 66,200.

For the past 8 months, i have been checking the engine oil level to find out that at around 1200 miles the car is burning oil, 1/2 quart to be exact. i think it is extremely unusual for a car with such low miles to burn that much oil. so far i replaced the pcv valve, thinking that will fix the problem but it did not work. i see no evidence of any leaks from oil pan or head gasket or oil cap. today i had the dealer replace my water pump due to antifreeze leaking from it. i will have the dealer look into this but i feel i will get the same response that the others 07 camry owners are getting. at this moment i feel there is an engine problem. i will do my part to rectify the problem but warranty is getting close to expire. just like the other people here. i think toyota is running around the problem. *tr

I began noticing during my regular oil change maintenance at 3000-5000 miles, that closer to required oil change my oil light would engage during braking. i didn't think anything of it at first, but began noticing it at a consistent rate. when i had my oil changed at 90,000 miles the service person indicated i only had about 1 1/2 quarts removed from the car. i thought i had an oil leak of some sort, but i never have had any significant discharge from my oil pan, oil filter and so forth in my driveway. i went to my son who is a mechanic, and he said he saw little sign of any leakage, and i must be burning it. so he suggested i get online, and look for similar incidents, and now i see 2007 is a popular year for this type of issue. i have yet to bring it to a dealers attention, and see no re-call or manufacturers problem advertised by toyota. *tr

2007 toyota camry. consumer writes in regards to engine malfunction and seeks financial assistance for repairs from manufacturer. *smd the consumer stated due to excessive oil consumption, the dealer informed her, the vehicle needed a new engine, or she could add a quart of oil every week. although, she has complied with the maintenance standards, toyota decided to ignore what was seemingly a manufacturing defect. toyota did offer $1500 towards a nearly $6,300 new engine was unacceptable. the consumer stated the excessive oil consumption problem dated back to april 2013, when the oil pan light illuminated and continued to illuminate every two months.

In march 2013, i took my car to my dealer for a scheduled oil change and also because i had noticed a ticking noise under the hood. the service technician stated that because it was a rainy day, he could not hear the ticking noise during his test drive. i was still concerned, and asked him if he was sure it was ok for me to continue driving it because i heard the noise every time i took off from a stop. he said it was fine to drive and to bring it back in if the noise continues. in may 2013, at 64,756 miles, i brought the car in again because the ticking noise was continuing and seemingly getting louder. a different technician checked it, and afterwards i received the devastating news that my car experienced "internal engine failure" and needed the engine replaced. i was given some price estimates for used engines, none of which were warrantied for more than a year. when i informed them of my inability to afford an engine replacement, toyota suggested that my car undergo an oil consumption test by my dealer, which i did. after 1,000 miles, the dealer determined the car was not burning oil excessively. toyota then offered no further assistance; the dealer then offered me a discount on the engine replacement. in all the years i owned the car, the check engine light had never once come on. (the only other issue i had with the vehicle was a water pump failure on 5/22/2012, which was replaced at 56,891 miles.) i have all documentation showing that timely oil changes were performed for the entire life of the vehicle. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the manufacturer had not notified the vehicle owner by mail that the vehicle was included in a warranty enhancement campaign: ze7 as the failure progressed. the dealer and the manufacturer indicated that the statute had expired to receive the remedy from the manufacturer warranty enhancement program. the dealer gault toyota (2205 north st, endicott, ny 13760, (607) 748-1421) had provided more than 2 oil consumption tests but had not provided a permanent remedy to repair the vehicle yet. the contact was also uncertain if the failure was related to an oil consumption tsb 0158-14 and was waiting for a response from the dealer and the manufacturer to determine a permanent fix. the vehicle was not repaired yet. the manufacturer was contacted and the contact was waiting for a follow up response to determine a diagnosis and repair. the approximate failure mileage was not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the vehicle burned one quart of oil every 1,000 miles. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and it was confirmed that the vehicle was consuming oil but the dealer was unable to determine were the oil leak was coming from. the manufacturer told the contact that the vehicle is still within the tolerance of oil consumption. they manufacturer would not repair the vehicle under the extended warranty although it was related to the technical service bulletin. the oil and check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel whenever the failure occurred. the failure mileage was 67,000 and the current mileage was 70,000. *tr

There is excessive oil consumption for this vehicle. i got an oil and filter change on 2/9/13 because the low oil light was flashing. i drove my car back and forth to work and home as normal which is about 15 miles each way. my oil light is back on indicating low oil and the dipstick also indicates low oil. today is 3/4/13. it has not even been 3000 miles since my last oil change. i am afraid to drive this car because i do not know if the engine will fail at any given moment. there are several complaints on the internet indicating other owners are also having this issue. this appears to be a defect with the car. please address this issue with toyota. it is not safe to have an oil change and not know at any time that your engine could be running on low/no oil. *tr

My engine has a defect. it is burning oil. i burned 2 quarts, although i have serviced the car regular with scheduled maintenance interval.i went to dealership, bev smith toyota in fort pierce, florida on febuary 02, 2013. they said the vehicle engine lacked 2 quarts of oil, which they added. my contact on saturday, february 02, 2013 was james badillo who is the customer relations manager at the facility advised me since the engine is burning oil, piston rings will needs to be replaced. this is not normal. there is a defect in one or more component of the engine which is causing oil leak internally that toyota should find the cause and pay for the repair. please make them issue a recall/cover cost of necessary repairs. i am not the only one, there are many 2007 toyota camry owners who have defective engine per my research online with the same issue of burning oil. i have followed recommended maintenance schedule on the vehicle through the lifetime of my ownership of this car since i purchased it new on august 07, 2007 from bev smith toyota. i have done all the oil changes at recommended intervals. i have contacted toyota national headquarters and they are refusing to cover repair bill because they said car is out of warranty. Approximately 10k miles ago i noticed that the oil light on my 2007 camry came on approximately 1,000 miles before the scheduled oil change *(scheduled every 5000 miles). i refilled it and it took over three quarts of oil. when i took it into the dealer for its oil change, i mentioned it. nothing was said and the oil change proceeded. the next oil change cycle, the same thing happened. i did some internet research and found numerous threads on reputable boards (example: http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f1848aa) which showed that i did not experience an isolated incident. there is a toyota tsb covering this problem, and newer engines have redesigned pistons: t-sb-0094-11. i have used the dealer since day 1 to service the toyota, and they concealed the fact that this car was burning oil throughout the years (jiffy lube reports the oil levels removed from my 1996 bronco, which may use a 1/2 quart in 3k miles). i started an oil consumption test 1000 miles ago - toyota stated today that the car used 'approximately 1/2 quart in 1105 miles' which is 'normal consumption per toyota.' it is only a matter of time before an engine seizes (due to excessive oil consumption) on an interstate, in an intersection, crossing a train track, or passing a vehicle on a country road resulting in a fatal accident. is it necessary for a fatal accident to occur before toyota is forced to correct their design flaw? *tr

Vehicle was purchased new and has performed well to this point but the other day the oil pressure light flashed a couple times. a check showed the level completely off the stick and took 2.5 quarts to fill. engine oil had just been changed 2500 miles previous to this. since filling to the mark, it has used an additional .5 quarts in the last 500 miles. car is garaged when not being driven and does not appear to be leaking (no spots on garage floor). some soot in tail pipe but is not smoking. i have owned ~9 different cars and never had one use oil like this. information on toyota's web site indicates this is normal. vehicle should be recalled with defective engine. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the vehicle burned excessive oil. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis where it was advised that the piston assembly needed to replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the approximated failure mileage was 65,000. *tr

Oil sign on dash was lighting up (on and off) - checked oil in vehicle - totally empty . no oil leaks ever ! have no idea where it went . i had last oil change around 3,000 miles ago. last couple of times i had my oil changes done - service technicians stated that my engine oil was extremely low , and that they saw no leaks . i went on the internet and found scores of the same complaint , about the 2007 camry , 4 cyl.. judging by all of the complaints i've read it is quite apparent this is a major problem that has been brought to toyota's attention . these vehicles should be recalled and properly fixed. *tr

I was driving to work in the early morning, all of a sudden engine started making some wired noise and within next 2 min vehicle stopped in the middle of freeway (somehow managed to pull it out to shoulder) could have been fatal injury, then towed the vehicle to dealership, they found that engine sized because of waterpump breakdown,(it didn't give me no time to take that into dealer ) how this could happen for such a low miles and abt 5.5 years old and well maintained vehicle, was complained abt this to toyota but didn't get a satisfactory answers. *tr

My toyota camry 07 (2.4 engine) is burning 2 qts in last 2 months. didn't find any engine leakage, no spots under car. before it is burning too but little bit less. i think that is factory problem with engine design which needs to be recall. thanks. *tr

I was driving the car as usual and noticed red engine oil light came on when i brake for a traffic light. checked the oil level when i got home and realized there was no oil on the dip stick at all! i ended up putting in about 2 qts of oil to return it to an acceptable level. after researching for the problem, i found out there was a service bulletin for exactly the same problem and basically the engine needed to be rebuilt in order to fix the problem. seems like toyota hasn't been honest about their products potential problems lately. please pressure toyota to issue a recall for this problem. otherwise i will never buy any toyota product again. at the same time, i recalled my dealership, where i purchased the maintenance package from, had previously suggested that oil pan could have been leaking oil. i went under the car, and there was no sign of leakage at all! the dealership always knew about the service bulletin and was trying to misguide me! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated the engine failed and consumed oil prematurely. the low engine oil warning light illuminated sporadically. the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure. the dealer sealed the engine oil dip stick and advised the contact to have the vehicle inspected every 1200 miles. the manufacturer advised the contact that the premature oil consumption was normal. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 100,000.

Approximately toward the end of 2012 and into 2013 we started to notice that the engine oil light was coming on periodically - roughly around the 65 - 70,000 mileage point. we began adding oil, and re-checking the oil and found that the car was consuming oil at a rate of about 1 quart per 2 weeks. i would estimate based on the distance to employment that it comes to about 1 quart per 600-700 miles. a couple times the engine oil dip-stick was almost dry & covered in tar - which i had to rub vigorously to get off after adding oil? now, we keep close track of the level. we took the car into the dealer on 5/31/13 and the dealer had no answer for the increased oil consumption other than to verify that were no leaks or oil in the cooling system. *tt

I took my car for an oil change at 85 thousand miles to a local mechanic , and i was told that my card did not have much oil, of course i blamed them, i thought they were lying. i always have my oil change every 5 thousand miles and did not have a problem before. i took the car to be inspected by another mechanic; he found no oil leaks. the mechanic told me that the problem is with piston rings and it will cost me a lot to fix it. since i cannot effort to get it fix right now, i been adding at least a 1.5 quarter of oil every 2,000 miles. on december 2012 i had problems with 4 front struts leaking and water pump. On december 29, 2012 the dealer told me that the water pump was leaking and needed to be replaced as well as the 4 front struts. february 2014 took the car for an oil change 85 thousand miles. told that my card did not have much oil, of course i blamed them, i thought they were lying. because i always have my oil change every 5 thousand miles, so i asked them to check their records. i took the car to be inspected another mechanic, the car has no oil leak. i took the car to be inspected another mechanic, the car has no oil leak. i mechanic told me that problems is with piston rings and it will cost me a lot to fix it. since i cannot effort to get it fix i been adding 1.5 quarter of oil every 2,000 miles. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign id number: 12v491000 (visibility:power window devices and controls) and since then, the brake warning light illuminates intermittently. the contact also stated that the rpm gauge fluctuates without warning. the vehicle was not taken to a mechanic. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

Engine made knocking noise. inspection by toyota dealer revealed engine main bearing problems probably resulting from low oil pressure or oil depletion. possible faulty piston rings with this engine/year 2007. this problem is reportedly common with this 4 cylinder engine, but i do not have sufficient data to better assess. *tr

My toyota camry burned 1 quart of oil about every 1000 miles, the problem started at 51000 miles, dealer performed oil consumption test and advised me to pay 2500 dollars for labor to fix that problem, they only cover the parts cost 1500 dollars . i did a research and found out many camry had the same problem, i can't afford to fix this car, please help , hopefully nhtsa would make the toyota corporation doing a recall and fix this problem, thank you very much. *tr

My check engine light came on and when i took it to the dealer, i had no oil in the car. however, i was well within the range before an oil change was due.they conducted an oil consumption test and found nothing was wrong. but every two months since then, i've had the same problem. i had another oil consumption test in january 2013. the results of each oil consumption test is said to be ok, but every two months an oil consumption test is required and my car keeps burning too much oil. finally, the dealer told me that the engine needs to be overhauled. if this has been the problem all along, then this should have been done when i first made my complaint in december, before my warranty ran out. i was told that toyota will not pay for my engine to be overhauled because my warranty is now expired. i'm forced to either pay $4,100 to overhaul the engine and hope that the problem will be fixed, or buy a new car. toyota should be responsible for this since the problem began before my warranty ran out. toyota has exclusively changed my oil for 6 years and was aware that the car was consuming too much oil. they should have suggested the engine overhaul during my warranty. it was faulty on their behalf not to mention the severity of this issue until after the warranty is expired. this prompted me to conducted research and i found that hundreds of people are having this issue. a recall on this engine should be made. toyota offers no assistance in anytype of solution. if you can advise of any help i can get, please let me know. thanks. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for an oil change and the dealer advised that the front axle failed. in addition, the vehicle was leaking engine oil. the vehicle was repaired. the engine oil ring and the front axle were replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vin was not available. the approximate failure and current mileage was 73,000. updated 2/4/13 *cn updated 02/20/2013 *js

When i do 70k miles maintenance in toyota dealer, they told me my car has water pump leak, oil pan gasket leak and front struts leak. and i heard many camry owner suffered from water pump leak. i think it is potential safety issue. so i report this. no accident happen. *tr

Extreme oil consumption-have to add 1 quart per week. *tr

My 2007 toyota camry engine has been burning oil for the last one year. there are significant sludge in the engine that can damage the engine very soon. if i don't fill the engine with additional oil between two oil changes, when its time to change oil, nothing comes out from the engine - the entire oil is being burnt by the engine and the red oil change sign comes out while driving. this is a serious quality issue with toyota. i never had to deal with similar issues with any other vehicle. when i told the toyota dealer, they refused to acknowledge this problem - they asked my to keep adding oil. if i remember correctly, there was a recall for 2001 - 06 toyotas for the same issue. there are hundreds of toyota owners who are having the same issue - please google it to check. therefore, i am requesting an nhtsa investigation of this engine problem and start a recall of all 2007 camry engines asap. will appreciate any help from nhtsa. *tr

My 07 camry 2.4l ce, has an excessive oil consumption. i have to fill oil in the engine every 1000-1500 miles with 1-2qt.

Bought this camry new in 2007 for my wife. i've maintained it as per mfg schedule. after having oil change done at around 65000 miles, i was driving vehicle & noticed oil pressure warning light coming on intermittently. upon arriving home, checked dip stick & there was no oil on stick!!. this was after oil change 2000 miles ago. i took vehicle to a different service station to get car looked at & a new oil change. the tech found no oil leaks.. he mentioned that he had heard of camrys having excessive oil consumption problems. went on internet, found a lot of other owners of camrys, this age & with around the same mileage having the same problem. i haven't taken it to the dealership as i don't want to be told "that this is normal:, "that expensive repairs are necessary" but don't solve the problem. please add me to the list of very unhappy & concerned owners. given toyota's track record,i don't have any trust or faith that they will do the right thing for their customers unless forced to. *tr

Tl* the contact owns 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated while having the vehicle inspected by the dealer they confirmed that the crankshaft sensor was leaking oil. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure. the failure and current mileage was 66,560.

2007 toyota camry le 6 cyl. - premature water pump failure with 32,755 miles. the dealership was aware of the technical service bulletin regarding leaking water pumps. they claimed that they would give me a discount on a new pump....labor & parts totaled over $800.00 !! *tr

Excessive oil consumption dip stick bone dry after 1,000 miles or so of use.

I owns a 2007 toyota camry xle. the contact stated that the vehicle was burning more oil than usual. the check oil warning light illuminated often. the contact had the oil changed at 69,000 miles and the mechanic advised that there was less than half a quart of oil left at approximately 74,000 miles. the contact had the oil changed again and the same issue recurred. *tr

Excessive oil consumption. i have observed excessive oil consumption between oil changes the oil lamp glows showing there is more than normal oil consumption. toyota dealers have run tests but have failed to identify problem or suggest a solution. *tr

2007 toyota camry has excessive oil consumption. car using approximately 1.75 quarts for every 500 miles driven. toyota acknowledges problem in tsb 0094-11 but will not allow any warranty repair to be performed my car is now out of the 6 yr 60,000 mile warranty they require it to be to fix the . repair cost is in excess of $3000.00 to properly correct the problem toyota needs to extent the years and millage to try to fix more of the affected cars they admitted there is a engine piston design flaw causing this problem. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that she noticed that the exhaust tail pipe was black and the oil was consumed prematurely. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin was not available. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 61,000 and the current mileage was 67,000.

Ongoing issue the car burns oil like crazy. i have to add oil before my next oil change is scheduled (every 3000 miles). there is black soot buildup in the gas tank door around the cap. it has been like this awhile, just never thought anything of it until i met a fellow camry owner who's 2009 camry was recalled for the exact same issue but mine does not have the recall. the black soot has been there basically from the very beginning (2007), it started noticeably burning oil at about 130000 miles, the car is now at about 163000

With the 2007 toyota camry, i am the original owner and have no complaints up to this point. each recall or issue under warranty was handled as expected. when i was told that my car was down 2 quarts at an oil change, i was shocked as i had not seen the car leaving oil marks. the car has not been leaking oil, burning oil rather. i have had to check the oil weekly for the last several months and have had to add at least a quart a week. the car is "puffing" white smoke when turned on and while driving. when i took the car to the toyota dealer, i was told i need an engine rebuild, new pistons, rings, etc and the cost would be $2850. after a total of 3 mechanical opinions, i was told that this may or may not fix the problem. i was guaranteed a one year/12000 mile warranty from the dealer and that this may happen again or other parts of the engine not fixed may fail. i am concerned that toyota is supposedly america's most reliable car brand and that the engine has failed at this few miles. after reviewing and research, i see that many other of the same complaints are happening to toyota owners. please help! *tr

My 2007 toyota camry se 2.4l 2az-fe burns through oil at an unusual rate. so unusual that i'm forced to keep a keen eye on it every few weeks. there are no leaks. i bought the car 'certified' from a toyota dealership and after month of driving it, i noticed the oil being lower than i expected (my normal due diligence of upkeep). when i brought it back to my dealer, they said it 'was normal' to burn through a certain amount of oil. at the time i was not 'burning enough' oil to deem it an issue. the dealership i bought it from was also a couple hours away so going there often was not an option. i also called corporate and they instructed and contacted the dealership where i bought it, to look into it. only thing i got out of it was an oil change. it's been since 2 years removed since i bought the car and it still burns rapidly, i'm only assuming it's going to get worse. i bought it with 61000 miles and now have 83000 miles on it. seeing more and more complaints about this severe defect constitutes action on toyotas part, and not through tsb but a recall as costly as that may be if i am to remain a local toyota fanatic. *tr

My son drove the car on highway about 10 minutes at 10pm and he saw the engine light on and the can was a little bit shaking. after about 5 minutes, the car speed slowed down quickly and there were smoke from front hood. he pulled the car by shoulder, then car was totally dead. the mechanic technician gave a report after checking the car that "waterpump failed and engine ran too long without coolant and melted engine". what a shame the toyota car quality it is as i was always regularly maintained my car by toyota dealer. *tr
