Oil consumption
In oct2017. i took my car in for an oil change do to an oil bell telling me oil was low. they told me there was no oil in there at all..and could not find any leak. they tell me it is the pistons and oil consumption problem. i now have to add 2 quarts of oil a week of my own. i never got a letter from toyota stating a problem or how to fix it..i want it fixed.
Burning 1 qt of oil every 600 miles
Engine burns oil, there is a recall about it. panama city toyota doesn't want to apply the recall.
I bought this car brand new. for the past 4 years i've experienced more that average engine oil consumption. i contacted the toyota dealership last year regarding this. they informed me that my car qualified for the recall on excessive oil consumption test. when the first test results came out i was informed that my car passed the test and that it didn't qualify for the recall repairs. when the following oil change was due i took my car to another toyota dealership just to get the second opinion on the oil consumption test. i informed them that this would be the second time i was requesting the oil consumption test for my vehicle. surprisingly the results came out the same way, that my car passed the test. as of recent, the situation has become worse. i'm supposed to turn in my car at the toyota dealership for an oil change every 5,000 miles per toyota standards, but after about 700 to 800 miles my engine begins giving noises when i turn on the car, which over time i came to learn that this kind of noise is an indication that the oil level is very low and i need to add more oil. my car is not leaking any oil, it's consuming more oil than how it's supposed to. i am considering doing the oil consumption test to another reputable dealership with no connections with toyota to see how the results are going to be. in the meantime i would like to request a help from the nhtsa because i believe toyota needs to be accountable to their actions. thank you
Excessive oil consumption. i was never made aware that my toyota had this problem until i reached 100,000 which just happened recently. according to toyota, my option for coverage ended 8/2016. i'm being punished for having conservative miles. criminal and deceiptful.
Toyota issued tsb for "excessive oil consumption". i went to the dealership for their 'test' (i.e., more than 1 qt of oil in 1,200 miles) and just barely "passed". but the problem grows worse over time and now burns oil extremely quickly. but toyota told me today that since the care is now more than 10 years old, there is nothing they will do for me. why won't toyota just do a "recall" to fix this obvious problem?
Car consumes a lot of oil where the engine may run out of oil and seize up. i'm afraid to drive the car without constantly checking the oil level. the car can use around a quart of oil every 1000 miles. i've been low 2.5 quarts out of 4.5 qt capacity which i beleive damage the engine.
I have taken fairly good care of my car throughout the time i have had it which is almost 10 years but the mileage is only at 130,000. i was driving one day and the car completely turned off but i had never had anything like this happen before, even never had any significant problems with the car so this came as a surprise. i had just had the oil changed about 2 weeks prior and had regular maintenance done at that time as well. i took the car to my mechanic and they believed they knew what the problem was since the check engine light was appearing. they fixed said problem but they realized the car was still displaying the check engine light and also revving. they suggested i take the car to the toyota dealer so they could read what was happening and why the check engine light was on and the car was not running properly. they ended up diagnosing that one of the cylinders was misfiring and that the engine needed a complete overhall/replacement. the estimate given was $6000 for the engine (this site did not accept this amount) and another amount which i can't recall for the labor. i have not yet decided what i will do but wanted to look up any engine recalls or issues others were having with their camrys and came upon this site.
Oil consumption issue. oil lift going on half way not knowing if the engine will brake at any given moment
Oil consumption .. in driving the car in the city and i checked the oil every morning there is oil consumption and i need help in this issue
Bought car used a year ago. had oil consumption test done at 74,000 miles within time frame allowed. was told engine was good. now, at 80,000 miles oil is at bottom tip of oil dip stick. i called dealer where oil consumption test was done. was told "we only added a quart..." at test's conclusion. i was not told at the time of the oil consumption test's conclusion that a "quart was added." since i was not told a quart was added, i wasn't aware i had to watch my oil. upon starting the vehicle, oil light flashed briefly but i couldn't make-out what it was. following day, upon starting vehicle, it flashed again. another day and it stays on very briefly but long enough for me to figure that it was the oil light. i let car sit on flat surface for an hour, checked oil and it just touched tip of dipstick. i added two quarts of oil.
Recently purchased car wit 85,000 miles not at 92,000 we realize it is using a quart of oil every 300 to 500 miles. this is unrealistic and have heard of numerous complaints and actions that i was unaware of by toyota
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. the contact stated that additional oil needed to be added to the vehicle between oil changes. the contact stated that there was no indication from the low oil sensor or gauge to warn of the low oil levels. the contact stated that the failure persisted and more oil had to be added between oil changes. the vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. neither a dealer nor the manufacturer was contacted or informed of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 159,000.
High oil consumption and excessive oil burning. last oil change, the tech stated check oil reguarly (every 2 weeks) car is burning oil. there are no oil leaks.
Too much oil consumption
The engine locked up and failed while on a over night trip leaving passengers stranded in the dark in the middle of the night. the oil light came on only minutes before, not allowing for adequate time to intervene. we were unaware at the time of the engines problem with excessive burning of oil. the garage mechanics were expecting to find an oil leak as the problem for the engine burning up and were surprised to find no leak. the car was purchased 8 months ago, pre-owned with 72,000 miles on it. when the engine failed it had 89,000 miles on it and $9000 left on the loan. reluctant to pay thousands to have the engine replaced since the engine is known to have this recurring problem.
Engine excessive oil consumption
Excessive oil consumption over 1qt at every 1200 miles
Takata recall: i took my 2007 toyota camry 4 cyl for the bulletin it has of oil consuption and it pass the test twice, i knew there was something wrong but as the technicians told me it was okay i drove it like that for some months still had to add every 1,000 miles 1 q of oil. kept doing this until my engine blew. now irs my fault and they dont want to pay for the repair. total unjustice from toyota.
Every since i purchase this car it has been using excessive oil.ever so often the blinking oil light would come on causing me to stop and pour oil in.zthis has occurred in motion and on city highways.
Dear sir/ madam, i have had my car toyota camry since 2009(it is a 2007 model). in the july of 2017 my car started using more oil than usual with frequent top -offs. i had the car checked at toyota dealership (dublin toyota in dublin, california in july 2017) and they informed me that my car 's engine could be defective since a toyota bulletin for defective engine repair had been released for that model. i had taken my car to toyota dealerships (gladstone toyota in portland, oregon) several times before that for other recall notices such as the accelerator getting stuck etc. but no one had informed me of this bulletin or defect. i've also received recall notices from toyota for other repairs for which i promptly took my car to their dealerships. but i have not received the extended warranty policy bulletin for this problem via mail or email to this date. dublin toyota employees suggested i call the company to resolve this problem otherwise i would have to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket if i chose to get it repaired. i called toyota and spoke to a manager but they refused to help or repair the engine stating that my car was a few hundred miles out of warranty per the technical service bulletin. now, my car consumes oil very quickly and i must and have to top it off every 12-15 days. it has a mileage of around 164000 at present. regardless, my point is: 1) i was never informed of this defect by the company(toyota) 2) this is a manufacturing defect and this should not have a mileage limit on it. i need this car for commuting to work and i have already been affected by the wildfires in santa rosa, california. i would appreciate your attention to this matter or can you connect me to the right organization /agency/ person who could help me with this issue?
I have been adding a quart of oil every 700 to 1,000 miles, sense may bought the car in february
I brought my car in 2015 and when i told the person at mechanicsville toyota that my brakes were making a noise they informed me to bring to the shop. when i did the mechanic's stated that there was nothing wrong with it. and for the past two years they have told me nothing wrong and now everything associated with that is wrong. all of a sudden when i spoke to am anger the same thins i stated was wrong with it is now what is wrong with it. the abs acuator...
The dashboard is melting and the car burns oil fast
My car loses oil at the rate of a quart and a half every 500 miles or so. it has been repaired for an obvious leak at the top of the engine, but continues to lose oil at this rate. i have been told by three mechanics now that this is common in camrys. if it is so common, it needs to be addressed by toyota.
I recently bought a 2007toyota camry december 2016 and ever since i bought it, it has been consuming too much oil. it would burn my full tank of oil at around 1k-1.2k miles after an oil change. i,'m afraid that this much oil consumption will eventually lead to wrecking the motor and probably causing an accident. toyota had a warranty for this type of issue but it expired last year. and i had no idea about this until just recently searching for this type of problem. to fix this problem in which i was not aware of in the first place, the only solution to this would be a recall.
The engine oil has burned up. have almost no oil left after getting oil change less than 3000 miles ago. the is no oil leakage on driveway where car is parked. oil filter is on tight and oil cap is on. my wife said she was getting a warning light of some kind that day so i checked the oil when she told me. i took my car, bought and added 4 qts of high mileage oil and zmax treatment to minimize any potential damage.
My car is dying when is running and the steering wheel get lock and doesn't matter what speed i go everything turns off so please let me know what it coud be because doesn't show any check engine light or anything please help
Vehicle consuming too much oil/burning oil. it is a problem with the 4 cylinder engine. oil has to be monitored closed so at to not blow my engine. cannot find a recall and notification was sent to me. i researched the issue on line saw several complaints but not recall.
My car is excessively burning oil. i have a 2007 toyota camry le. i have my oil change every 3,00 to 5,000 miles at the toyota dealer. my oil level would go low between oil changes. my husband would constantly check and add oil between oil changes. my husband asked me to ask the toyota dealer to check to see if i had an oil leak. the dealer told me i did not have an oil leak and they did not know why my oil level was going low between oil changes. after my husband did some research, he found out the 2007 toyota camry has a problem with their engines excessively burning oil. toyota and the dealer knew there is an issue with that type of engine burning oil excessively and they did not tell me! who is going to fix this, it's not my fault?!
We own a 2007 toyota camry le. we have always had it regularly serviced by the dealership it was purchased from. around 145,000 miles, it started burning oil rapidly, around 1 quart every 1,500 miles. i started researching and found that toyota is aware of this situation but, unless the issue happens within 100,000 miles, will not cover the repair. this needs to be remedied as they know there is an issue with their vehicle.
I am needing to add at least 1 quart of oil to my car every 1,000-1,200 miles. my car does not have an oil leak. toyota stated that they will not fix the problem because i and not the time frame to fix it.
Car goes through over a quart of oil every thousand miles. toyota has known about problem since 2011 but will not honor because the car is just over 10 years old and has 150,010 miles on it. (warranty is 10 years or 150,000 miles) never was sent a recall notice. contacted toyota. would not honor.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 toyota camry. while driving various speeds, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the engine and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 180,000.
My toyota camry engine is burning excessive oil i dont want this car to blow up on me while driving
I have an excessive engine oil consumption problem so on march 2016, i go to the dealer to check and said that my car pass the test without any suggestion to follow on, i still has this problem and even more serious so i go back to check then the dealer said once pass is not their issue ,i wonder what is the standard the pass or not pass and i call the main toyota office to ask for help and they said ,i can ask for the second test but i just pass their extended warranty that is just pass half a month ago. my question is i know my car has the problem but i has no suggestion what to do and they keep delay the care of my car until the warranty is gone . actually my first approach this problem is still under the warranty period but that is not count?? i do not trust toyota car any more and i am so worry about the safety of myself everyday while i driving this car. my car is just 10 years pass and driving only 97320mileages when i ask them about my worry second time. hope any good suggest and help from you otherwise i need to give up my car.
I purchased this car used a few years ago. it has had a high oil consumption the entire time. it has been extremely aggravating and costly putting oil in the car weekly. as a single parent, i didn't take the car to be fixed because of financial reasons. i'm just finding out about the extended warranty and the time has passed for me to take advantage of the warranty. toyota knowing about the issue makes it even worse. this should have been a recall instead of an extended warranty. i was considering buying a new toyota until i read this. this makes me distrust toyota because of the underhanded way they're treating their customers about an issue they knew about.
Oil consumption is really bad. 1 quart of oil every 200-300 miles. no visible oil leaks under car.
I discovered that toyota has had issues with excessive oil consumption in certain model years. i have a 2007 toyota camry xle which was listed as one of the vehicles. this is my 4th toyota of which i have put on over 1 million miles between these vehicles. now with this 2007 which now has 211,000 mi. i find i am having to add oil every 1000 mi. or the oil light comes on. i change the oil every 3000 mi. toyota told me nothing can be done because the extended warranty that was given expired in oct. 2016. i bought the vehicle in july, 2015 with 146,000 mi. on it. i understand that a letter was sent out in may, 2015 regarding this matter. that apparently went to the previous owner or the dealership. now after 4 toyotas....1 million miles....they say nothing can be done! i don't agree.
I have a 2007 toyota camry with 155,000 miles that excessively burn oil at the rate of 1 quart per 1000 miles
Takata recall ive been waiting for the recall when i saw recall for the year and model and make i was like finally but come to find out the vin number wasn't recalled but needs to be. goes off and have to pull over to turn back on
The engine has failed an oil consumption test. i did not know this was an issue, but now have been told i am outside of the window that they will repair. i did not know there was a window.
I have gone about 2,000 miles of the 5,000 miles an oil change should last in my camry. i checked the oil because when driving and braking hard the oil light appeared briefly. i checked the oil and it appeared to be almost empty, i put 2 quarts of oil and it only brought the total level just above the low level line on the dipstick. this tells me i could stand to buy another quart and put at least another half quart. i've kept up with all of the maintenance with this car, having just installed a new oil pan gasket recently.
Excessive engine oil consumption: my 2007 toyota camry is consuming 1 quart of engine oil every 1,200 miles based on a latent design defect in the engine pistons and piston rings. toyota issued a technical service bulletin and set the oil consumption levels at a ridiculous level (1.2 quarts per 1,200 miles) and they continue to reject my request to pay to fix the problem. they say this is normal. funny none of my other 5 toyota's have ever done this!! i strongly believe this is a safety issue with my vehicle and has a significant monetary cost to fix the issue. toyota knows they have a problem and wouldn't pay to fix the issue.
My 2007 toyota camry ce with the 2.4l 4 cylinder engine is consuming engine oil at an excessive rate. vehicle is currently undergoing toyota factory "excessive oil consumption test", and showing low oil on dipstick. on line research has indicated many owners learning either their dealer or toyota, or both are hesitant or refusing to perform corrective action at no cost to the current owner. on line recommendation is that this complaint should be filed with your agency along with two other entities involved in monitoring toyota motor company and toyota dealer response and remedial action.
Excessive engine oil use. oil blows out of the tail pipe. the buildup for oil residue at the tail pipe makes me very concerned about the possibility of a fire. went through the local dealer was told there was no problem or oil use. had the local mechanic look at it and he found excessive oil consumption. now here we are with a defective engine and a complete lack of trust in the car either mechanically or for safety. sincerely [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
The valve cover gasket leaks auspiciously without knowing you are losing oil because there is no leak below the car. on three occasions i went in for an oil change and there was no oil in the engine. i'm concerned about the engine burning up without notice.
The engine burns through the oil in about 2500 miles. i have to carry around extra oil to refill it at a moments notice. i am worried about the engine freezing up as i am driving.
