I have rear brake pads that have worn out after just 19,000 miles driven. *tr
Honda service department told me my brake pads needs to be replaced.i was told specially the rear pads down to 1-2 mm.total estimate was $610.00. i taught this was a joke or a scam at 19000 miles brake pads? not the way i drive. i did not get it done but later i checked it myself and looks like it needs it.i have been driving over 40 years never replace brakes so soon. shame on you honda.were these pads made out of cardboard? *tr
I brought my 2009 honda accord in for a regular oil change and was told that my rear brakes need to be replaced. i only have 30,000 miles which a lot of these miles are highway miles. never with any lease i have had in the past 18 years, did i ever have to replace brakes. the cars were returned within the 36,000 mile allowance. they were not honda leases, however, this was my first honda. prior leases were cadillac and nissan vehicles. *tr

On the 2009 honda accord at 28,691 the rear brake pads started to smell like a burning smell then it started to make a noise from the back of the car.i sat in the back seat on the way to the vets office when all this occured.i do not drive this car as its my wifes car,she said that she could not hear the noise from the front seat but could smell a wierd ordor.she sometimes carry our frist grandchild in the car and with this happening thank god nothing happened.please do something before the brakes catch fire or go out completely.the calipers i've heard are defective, they freeze up not allowing the inside brake pad release,i can understand this happening.honda knows the problem but to call a full out recall they want to hide this critical safety defect. *tt
Brake premature wear causing brakes not to work properly, talk to dealer and they say i have brakes fixed and submit to honda and they might reimburse me for the repair is this honda's and the dealers way to make more money. that's why i think we should look at american made cars when we buy from now on . nothing like the good old u.s.of a. go ford. *tr
Premature brake wear on rear brakes of honda accord 2009 2.4 liter. dealer inspection describes rear pads at 3mm. front brakes ok. this is not normal. nhtsa please get honda to recall. dealer wants 295.00 for rear brake job. *tr
The rear inner brake pads wore down significantly while the rear outer pads had about 3-4mm left. this seemed to be a very premature wear compare to other vehicles i owned over the years. *tr
Had to replace rear brake pads front fine, right rear completely worn down left fine. *tr
I was told my rear brake pads need replacing after only 21000 miles. honda service quoted me $269. these pads should have lasted well beyond 60k miles. *kb
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 honda accord. the contact stated the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they detected that both rear brakes were worn prematurely. the vehicle was in the process of being repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 25,178.
Rear brake wear signal indicator stated to squeal and make scraping sounds. inspection reveals excessive wear on right rear brake. dealer told me on 09/13/2011, brakes are warranted for 1 year or 12,000 miles only and no warranty service would be made available. dealer informed me on 09/13/2011 that a form will be provided, as a result of law suit. that would reimburse me $150.00. how can a lawsuit be successful without a safety recall? *tr
Very loud grinding metal on metal when light or hard braking. its seized caliper according to the mechanic to fix this not covered under warranty. also said the back should last at least 40 -70k lasted only 19k of very easy miles. *kb
2009 honda accord. consumer writes to express discontent related to brake repairs and unwanted ac service at local dealer *tgw the consumer stated there was a strange smell coming from the ac. the dealer stated they added a deodorizer in the ac. the consumer was informed the smell would disappear in a few days, but it had not. it only seemed to get worse. the dealer informed the consumer, she was not the first person to complain, but it was because of mold. the consumer requested the ac to be flushed to get rid of the odor as she never requested it to begin with. *jb
My '09 honda accord started having brake noises at under 20k miles. upon taking in the first time at 22k miles i was told the car needed new rear brake pads and resurfacing already. after much complaining (because brakes aren't usually a warranty item, and this was prior to the class action settlement) they did repair and replace them for free. 1 year later i began experiencing a shimmy when braking on the freeway or especially on a hill, and was told then that the front rotors are now magically "warped". i dealt with it for a while, but then recently began hearing the metal on metal sound of the rear pads going out again. sure enough, upon taking to the dealer we purchased the vehicle from, it does in fact now need rear pads again at 46k miles, as well as front rotor resurfacing....which now i'm also told you can't use the front pads anymore when you resurface the rotors. so essentially, i'm replacing both front and rear brakes(rear brakes for the second time), and resurfacing for the second time at only 46k miles. naturally, the honda service department people don't care and won't cover anything under warranty even though this is clearly a well known honda defect. sorry honda, but you just lost a customer who has owned 4 hondas up to this point. *tr
Front brakes on this model are prematurely going out. i have 21,000 miles and they are terrible! someone is eventually going to get hurt. transmission is also acting up since the time i bought the car. i have complained six times about both issues but to no avail.

My 09 accord began making horrible metal on metal screeching sound out of the blue at 24,900 miles. took it in for checkup and was told my rear rotors needed to be replaced due to manufacturer error caused by caliper slides being frozen and too much brake pressure applied to rear brakes. was told by technician that he has seen many accords with the same problem of manufacturer error. i am very disappointed as i was not and have not been made aware of this problem by honda.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 honda accord. the contact stated while driving various speeds, a squealing noise emitted from the rear brake sensor. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing who replaced the rear brakes and resurfaced the rear rotors. in addition to the repair, the rear brake calipers were also cleaned. the contact planned to notify the manufacturer regarding the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 13,000. the vin was unavailable.
Rear brake issues at 31,000 and 61,000 front brakes required repair at 61,000 tires not turning.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 honda accord lx. while attempting to stop the vehicle, the contact would have to repeatedly pump the brakes for the vehicle to come to a complete stop. the vehicle would also make a loud scrapping noise. the dealer was notified of the failure, but the manufacturer was not. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 22,000 and the current mileage was 23,000.

The dealer discovered premature brake wear for 2009 honda accord - rear brakes started to grind at 16,300 miles. he said that this is a common problem for this car. i was quite surprised to find out that honda would not pay for the repair since it was clearly their fault that the brakes were wearing out too early. *tr
Took my 2009 honda accord in for schedule maintenance and was told that my rear brakes needs replacement; was also informed that drum/rotor will need to be turned. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2009 honda accord. the contact stated the vehicle was taken to the dealer for routine maintenance and they stated that the rear brake pads were worn. the vehicle was repaired. the failure and current mileages were 19,500. the vin was unavailable.
Tl*the contact owns a 2009 honda accord. the contact stated the vehicle was being inspected for registration when she was told the rear brakes needed to be replaced. the brake disks were replaced but the contact expressed concern with the brakes failing at such a low mileage. the failure and current mileages were 19,000. updated 06/03/11 *bf updated 06/10/11
My honda accord 2009 is only 33, 216 miles, less than 2 years old but the abs has problem, i have to replace wheel speed sensor, honda does not cover because the warranty is over. i have never had abs problem with my 2002 accord that has mileage is over 100,000. i would like to report this issue as abs malfunction. *tr
Vehicle has been consuming oil since purchased with 9,500 miles. oil consumption has contributed to fouled spark plugs. fouled spark plugs triggered "cylinder #3 misfire" code and extremely poor performance at highway speeds. two different occasions the car experienced different cylinder misfire issues. honda dealer performed engine computer software updates on two different occasions that did not remedy the oil consumption issue. no warning lights to indicate that the engine was 3 quarts low on oil. if the consumer is not aware that the vehicle is using oil, there is potential for the engine to seize causing costly repairs or to lose power in a dangerous situation. dealer is now performing honda oil consumption test. according to honda, consuming 1 quart of oil in 1,000 miles is normal and acceptable. this burned oil is being released into the environment as evidenced by the black carbon on the tail pipes. it is hard to believe that a leading car manufacturer would deem oil consumption in a brand new vehicle as normal or acceptable. this is the first vehicle out of 12 that i have ever owned that consumed oil. even vehicles with over 200,000 miles did not consume oil. i purchased a honda so that i did not have to worry about reliability or break downs for many years. now i have to worry with checking the oil every week as to not get low or run out. same vehicle has also had premature rear brake pad wear and had to be replaced at 60,000 miles. complaint has been filed with american honda. class action lawsuits have been filed against honda over the premature rear brake pad wear and the oil consumption issues.
Rear brake pads wore prematurely as per class action suit notification we received in 2010. upon inspection for routine maintenance (no other signs of a problem occurred) found that the rotors were also ruined and required repair. honda seems ready to wash their hands of the situation because of the class action settlement and would not pay for rotor replacement, at least that is what the dealer indicated. total cost of repair was $337. not happy and the second problem with the vehicle on a critical safety system (front wheel bearings went and were replaced by honda at about 20,000 mi). i'm concerned there will be ongoing critical failures if our experience with this accord is any indication of what is to come. *tr
I went to take my 2009 honda accord exl coupe 2.4l 4cyl. for routine oil change in the course the advisor at the oxala service desk said that my rear brakes are in severe change and rotor replacement. i said that the car has 33,000 miles. he said this happens. i found out in the showroom waiting for my car that there was a class action lawsuit for the 2009 accord brake problem. i removed my car took elsewhere to check it out only to find the break pads and the rotors needed changing as well . i went ahead for the repair so that i would be safe. to find out that month earlier i had an accident by not being able to stop even with time to stop the vehicle needless to say i had an accident. i believe that my brakes locked up due to manufactures defect of the onboard braking system. i should get reimbursed for the repair. the parts on the car were defective. if this is the care i should have compensation from the auto accident as well. *tr
In june 2009 i purchased a 2009 honda accord. at 10,000 miles i was told i needed to replace my rear brake pads. after i complained barber honda changed my brakes for free. now i have 27,000 miles on my vehicle and once again my rear brake pads need to be replaced. i was told by barber honda that i would be responsible to pay for my new brake pads. i was also told it was normal wear and tear. i've had many cars in my life and have never had to replace the rear brakes even once w/27,000 miles on it much less twice. at this rate i will have to replace the rear brakes once a year at $150 each time. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 honda accord. the contact stated hat while driving approximately 40 mph and engaging the brake pedal, a metal to metal noise was heard from the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer twice for the defect where both rear brake pads were replaced each time. in addition, the rear rotors were replaced once. the failure recurred after the repairs were performed. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 20,000. updated 10/10/12 *cn
At about 20,000, our 2009 honda accord (v6) started having rear brake noises. we took it to the west covina dealership and they said the rear pads were worn and needed replacing. i said that is very premature to have rear pads wear out so soon and they said it is normal and would not consider any warranty replacement or discount as it was normal wear and tear. we took it to our local independent shop and had them replaced. strange that it was both inner pads that had worn out--the outers had about 50% life left.*tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 honda accord. while having the vehicle serviced for unrelated issues, the contact was informed that the rear brakes and calipers would need to be replaced. the contact was also told that the brakes were wearing prematurely due to a failure involving the calipers. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 36,000. the vin was unavailable.
Had to repair rear brake pads at only 26k miles!
Tl*the contact owns a 2009 honda accord. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer for routine maintenance when she was informed that she needed to replace the brake pads. the dealer advised the contact that there was a lawsuit and that she could fill out the form in order to receive a partial reimbursement. the manufacturer was notified and stated that there were no related recalls and did not offer her any additional assistance. the current and failure mileages were approximately 16,000. bw updated 02/17/11*lj updated 12/06/2011 *ln
Under normal use, rear brake pads fail at an alarming rate. my original pads were completely gone at 15,000 miles. now the second set of pads is worn out at 30,000 miles. front pads seem to be barely worn, and are original to the car. *tr
I want to add my name to the list of people with defective brakes on their 2009 accords. my brakes started squeaking like mad at about 17000 miles. it is unbelievable to me that honda would not issue a recall, knowing that their rear brake pads are defective. they acknowledge this fact by making a replacement pad different from the original pad. to charge customers any amount of money for their defective product in simply unthinkable on honda's part. *tr
Rear brakes squeaks and worn out prematurely at 17,900 miles. *kb
2009 honda accord. consumer states that she and her husband had to pay to get brake repair work done. she would like to know why the lawsuit is only going to pay back a portion. *kb the consumer stated she heard a noise coming from the vehicle. when the vehicle was taken to the dealer, she was advised the problem was the rear brake pads. the consumer stated she was not aware that a recall had been issued as well as a lawsuit. the consumer was informed she would have to pay for the repairs and then seek reimbursement through the lawsuit. *jb
Since the first incident i have had a clicking noise coming from the ac on the right side vent on my 2009 honda accord. it is october of 2011 and the dealer has now replaced the same blower motor 3 times. it alleviates the issue, only for it to return. the dealer has no other explanation. also, i have replaced 2 door actuator motors. this car was bought in december of 2009 and it is october of 2011. i will not buy another honda due to having issues occur repeatedly and so soon after a new purchase. obviously brakes have to be fixed again and again. *tr
2009 honda accord. consumer writes in regards to problems with vehicle brakes *tgw the rear rotors were resurfaced and the brake pads were replaced. the second time the consumer returned to the dealer, the problem had worsened. the brake pads and both rear calipers had to be replaced. the consumer stated due to a class action lawsuit concerning the rear brakes, she received half of her money back. *jb
2009 honda accord. rear brakes worn out at only 11,000. problem is well know by honda. class action has been filed. result of class action, customer must pay for repair and submit receipt for refund upto $150.00, but honda is charging $300.00 for the repair. this is a safety issue and honda should be forced to correct the problem at no charge to the customer. *tr
Brakes were squeaking within the first six months but we were told nothing was wrong when taken in for regular warranty-covered checks. started noticeable shimming when brakes were applied and took in for check at 39,000 miles. ended up replacing rotors, brakes and rear bearing. the rear bearing alone cost $198. all in all, our bill came to $667.73. we've taken the car in to the dealer for repair of carpet pulling away in front passenger side; vibration noise on back dashboard (or whatever you'd call the shelf behind passenger seats); driver door handle stick problem, steering wheel clicking noise. purchased honda after being recommended by so many satisfied customers/friends. invested more then we planned but thought it was worth the investment; disappointed in quality of parts and repair work. *tr
2009 honda accord. brakes worn out at only 12,000. problem is well know by honda. class action has been filed. result of class action, customer must pay for repair and submit receipt for refund upto $150.00, but honda is charging $300.00 for the repair. this is a safety issue and honda should be forced to correct the problem at no charge to the customer. *tr
I own a 2009 ex honda accord. took car to get normal maintenance at 14,000 miles to my honda dealership when they told me that my back brakes were almost worn down to needing replaced. a couple months later i took my car in for a normal maintenance at 21000 miles and said my back brakes needed replaced. now i am stuck paying $250 for back brakes on a year and ahalf old accord. even though honda will give me up to $150 back. i think that they should recall the vehicle and pay for the full price. also this is a safety issue if people don't know if there brakes are bad!!! very disappointed in honda and may not buy honda vehicles anymore!!! *tr
Needed new brakes after only 29,950 miles. disc,rr.brak; set, pad rr. *tr
Brakes in 2009 accord required replacement and rotor polish after 17k miles costing 292.69 usd. at the time of brake replacement there was noticeable degradation in stopping time. *tr
