Srs light came on while stationary at home parked. i went to honda dealership and was told it has a 7-3 code for 'internal failure'. they advised me to pay $1056 to replace computer. they said this only comes on when vehicle has been in an accident and airbags deployed. my car has never been in accident. i feel this is a manufacturing defect as well as a safety issue and should be covered. they told me my airbags may or may not deploy. two years ago my srs light had cam on and they said it was for seat belts and they covered it. why would this not be covered as well. this is a very common problem for other people when i searched on google people have this same problem.
Warring light for the airbag remains on, at all times.
4th july my wife was in a collision which resulted in her suffering memory loss, speech issues , stutter, a severe concussion and weeks and weeks on continued therapy to include physical therapy, speech therapy and continued care. the air bag didnt deploy . no reason with the damage sustained by the car it shouldn't have deployed. my three children where also in the car to include my 12yr old son in the front passenger. my child sustained minor bumps and bruises but as a result of failed equipment my wife nearly forgot who i was to include last last ten years of our lives amoungst other things , and could possibly have most her life. one of the doctor diagnosis is : concussion with loss of consciousness, subsequent encounter. (speech pathological treatment plan ongoing ) my wife is also unable to work and provide , and take care of my children in my absence. vehicle was in motion , speed 40-55mph ohio state route 68 in urbana, ohio. night time following july 4th fireworks.
Takata recall: daughter sustained a medical emergency while stopped at a light wherein she lost consciousness, hitting the car in front of her -- presumably not at a high speed. driver's airbag did not go off but passenger airbag did, despite no one, and nothing, being in the seat. vin is not on recall list (which mysteriously only goes back to mid-2001). called honda multiple times and they will not inspect car, and do not care to investigate issue because the vin is not currently on the recall list. is the driver side airbag faulty (should it have gone off), or was the passenger side faulty (should it not have gone off-- i was told the latter at the body shop)? the car is not worth fixing given the fact that one airbag replacement alone costs approx a couple thousand dollars.

Takata recall - i was contacted last fall by honda motor corp advising me that my 2000 honda accord was part of the takata inflator recall. i contacted my local honda dealer to make necessary repairs and was told by them that my honda was not included in the recall. i did nothing more at that time but am becoming more concerned as i learn of the expanded recalls being announced. it is my understanding that my 2000 accord is virtually the same vehicle as the 2001 and 2002 model years. what is different about the 2000 accord from the 2001 and other model years that would exclude my model year from the recall? and, why would honda motors notify me that my vehicle was included in the recall then later be told by the dealer that it is not? i have not been able to get an answer to either of these questions from my local honda dealer and have been unsuccessful in contacting honda motors for a response. please help. thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Srs indicator on dashboard. car needs this repaired before valid ma inspection sticker can be applied. honda dealer repaired first "srs incident" driver's side seat buckle. honda dealer declared problem fixed. drove car home. 2 days later, srs indicator re-appears on dashboard. took car back to honda dealer. honda dealer now says that car required new opds sensor. approximate repair cost: just under $500. no mention of previous recall regarding this issue for all honda accords 2000-2001. recall was extended to 10 years and 157,000 miles. current mileage under 154,000 miles. called honda corporate offices. both honda dealer and honda corporate unwilling to help. can nhtsa help with getting honda to abide by old recall? i never received a notice. i believe the srs repair from last week resulted in the current srs opds failure. i can see many angry honda accord owners on internet web sites. add me to the list. *tr

To whom it may concern, through this letter, i wish to inform you of my disagreement with the evaluation of the air bags in my 2000 honda accord. i was involved in an accident and the air bags did not deploy to protect me. when i addressed my concern to the dalton agency, i was informed that the service manager, manuel pez navarro and the head of mechanics, jorge cardenas only do oil change and filters. they advised if i wanted to know why the air bags did not function correctly, that i should pay a technician $600.00 pesos to connect a scanner to my car to see if there is an error in the system, an error that may have been there from the beginning when the car was assembled. please understand that the factory invoice for my auto specifies that it has air bags at the highest security level. that is why i?ve taken my car to be service regularly at the dalton agency to keep all warranties in place. i placed my trust in the agency, in the honda company and in the global brand and feel that i have been misled about service and quality. i am totally disappointed by the lack of concern from individual lives. the trauma, injury and rehabilitation after the accident has been terrible, least having to deal with you has caused unnecessary frustration and fear. knowing that the air bag situation has been called a simple mistake or accident does not help my dilemma. luckily i am alive today, but a few centimeters could have made a big difference and caused a tragic story. what has happened to me could have happen to anyone else, especially someone having a hard time in life. please consider taking responsibility and do the ?right thing?. i?m attaching pictures and copies of all documents for your review and providing the following information: license plate #: 124-ppu service history: 2001 ? present service agency: honda dalton polanco de mxico, d.f.
My air bag light came on then went off and kept doing that for quite a while. i purchased the car new in connecticut in 2000, but now live in north carolina. i brought the car to honda in myrtle beach, south carolina but the light was not on and they said they could not find out why the air bag light came on. my oil light also comes once in a while then goes off. they checked that too (charged me over $60.00) and sent me on my way. how can i find out what's really going on? *tr

Driver side airbag light on unexpected and instable..(sometime on, sometime off). *tr
Srs indicator remains on and it looks like it is due to faulty driver's seat belt buckle switch. this is issue recognized by the honda via bulletin but refused to fix it. this issue related to air bag and should be fixed since it is a basic safety issue which should be covered. both honda and dealer dulles honda are refused to address this issue even though this is basic safety issue for the driver or passenger if air bag does not deploy. *tr
Started car on that date and light would not go out talked to honda said there was a recall but not on this vehicle talked to mechanic to see about repair they said it was part of recall. it is not on list missed by one year so did they not get my car? srs light remains on no accidents or any other related issues
The car was parked. got into the car to leave and the air bags deployed when the ignition was turned on. the car was stationary and there was no impact to the front. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2000 honda accord. the contact was driving approximately 35 mph when the passenger side air bag deployed inadvertently without impact to the vehicle. there was not an occupant in the passenger seat at the time. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 146,300.
I was pulling into the parking space after driving the vehicle for 45 mins (approx. 20 miles). when i was ready park the car and switch off the ignition, the car suddenly accelerated way too fast and hit the building in front. i was driving into the parking space at less than around 10 mph as i had to make 3 turns within 100 feet before coming into vacant parking space. my leg was also in the break pedal as i made those turns after getting into the private property from il rte 83. i can definitely confirm that my leg was not in gas pedal as my right leg was on the break pedal to make those turns and stop the car in the parking space. it all happened in the matter of few seconds and there was no time to react. the car came to halt only after hitting the building. both air bags deployed as soon as the car hit the building and there was heave smoke inside the car. it was really scary because by looking at the damage the speed at the time of accident looks to be around 50 mph. it was a relatively higher curb in front and the building was just 6 - 8 feet away from the curb, i was also driving into the parking space at less than 10 mph. i am really shocked to see this kind of unintended/sudden acceleration happen with honda accord cars which could prove to be fatal for the driver, passenger and pedestrian alike. *tr
On november 26, 2012 my srs light came on and has stayed on since. this vehicle though it is a 2000 honda accord has only 66,200 original miles will cost about $800-$900 to repair. this is an issue which involves the safety of the driver and any passengers. i am told it could be a possible danger if the airbag does not deploy in any accident. i am not sure of the significance; i get different stories from folks. it is my understanding from some research that this light could possibly come on and stay on after recent transmissions problems. may 9, 2012 just five months after having my transmission fluid replaced i needed to have a rebuilt transmission at a cost of $3757. for several weeks i had discussions with honda customer service department to no avail. i personally will never buy another honda product in my lifetime and intend to discuss this situation with any person considering buying this product. i have been a loyal and faithful car owner with my honda dealer since i purchased the vehicle. i received all scheduled services even though i did not have the recommended mileage. this is my reward, a rotten car from a rotten company. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2000 honda lx. the contact was traveling 40 mph when the srs warning light illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was not contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 153,000 and the current mileage was 153,052. updated 08/21/12*lj
red "srs" light came on in july 2012 and has never gone off since. i have the notice from honda dated spring 2006 about this problem and how they are covering this problem for 10 years or 150,000 miles. i called honda in ca at 800-999-1009 on 8/23/12 and was told that they will not cover the repair because the car is over 10 years from its june 2000 built date. the car had 130100 miles on the day i called. funny thing is that they will cover any seat belt problem for the life of the car regardless of the number of owners but they won't cover the srs airbag system, i called my local honda dealer where i bought the car from and the service manager told me to bring it in now, which i did. they scanned the srs system for a code. came up the occupant position detection system ( opds). i asked if the air bags would still deploy in a crash with the srs light on and he said no. i want to know that the air bags will work and i feel honda should repair this defect for free since it is a life saving safety system. i called honda again after i got home from the dealership to try to speak to someone higher up in management chain and as usual i got nowhere. this is an expensive repair and it's dealer only parts. there seems to be many people with the same problem when i searched "2000 accord srs on" and most of the people with this light on said that they are or did not get it fixed due to the high quoted cost of the repair. these cars are on the road with non-working srs/ airbags systems because honda used substandard parts that did not last as long as they should have and than refuses to properly fix this problem, that's just not right! i wish the nhtsa would order honda to recall and repair these cars regardless of mileage or time at no charge. alot of these older honda accords will end up being purchased used by the younger drivers who can't afford a brand new car. *tr
