Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2013 Ford Focus

At taking off at a red light my car stutters and shakes and it's worse when going uphill it feels like it's going to stall on me in the middle of the road.

Faulty transmission defect relating to the clutch and transmission control module in the dps6 transmission. loss of clutch engagement, loss of power and no start from engine. ford motor company failed to determine my car to qualify for a clutch and transmission control module replacement. ford motor company also failed to determine my car to qualift for a clutch and transmission control module replacement falling under the customer satisfaction program 14m01 - supplement #7 and customer satisfaction program 15b22- supplement #3. i have emailed david j. johnson on sunday february 2, ,2020 and received a call from mr. johnson executive office on february 5, 2020 and have yet to received anything.

My transmission went out and i had to pay $6000.00 to get it fixed! yet again another problem with this 2013 ford focus! i am so angry right now. something has to be done!

Vehicle has known issues thru ford. just had clutch assembly replaced was driving car monday it started shifting erratically my granddaughter was in car it lurched shudders. at ford dealer said it is some sort of transmission fork 1900.00 to fix vehicle has recalls but ford won't honor the transmission by certain dealers

Dps6 clutch was repaired/replaced at 85,000 miles due to severe shuddering and dangerous driving performance. severe shuddering returned at 98,000 miles and was not scheduled for service until after 100,000 miles - ford motor company and dealer now refuses to repair the dangerous and faulty dps6 clutch assembly on my vehicle. vehicle shudders when shifting from first to second, sometimes violently, occasionally losing power or accelerating suddenly. has also led to engine stall while in traffic. ford refuses to fix my car.

On my way from work went to leave and press gas paddle car. act like it speed up hill . car start stuttering making a grinding noise jerking. got half way home it start smoking. . when i first bought car i had to put in shop because of transmission problems it one thing after another ive done already had several recalls done on it. now its given me more problems. always on the high way

I have own a 2013 ford focus and when i try to accelerate, it seams the car revs up but doesn't go any faster. that doesn't happen all the time but when it does it's scary to think that i might get rear-ended when i'm switching lanes on the freeway. the car also switches gears a little rough. something definitely feels off about this transmission.

My vehicle has been in the shop repeatedly every since i purchased it in 2012 car not accelerating when it should. it hesitates and shudders violently when taking off in first gear. i have been told that i must have a new clutch system put in a transmission at my expense. when the vehicle is cool it will shift good but as it is driven more, the worse it gets at shifting.

While starting to accelerate my car leaped forward and i had to slam on the brakes to prevent me from rear ending another vehicle. my car then startling stuttering from the faulty transmission. the car does not shift properly.

The car is unsafe to drive due to the transmission. it shakes violently and will not accelerate at times. i have had it to the dealership many times over the last 2 years with no fix in place.

The car has had several recalls and transmission problems since the day i got it. it has clutch issues that leaves me stalled stuck in gear in the middle of rush hour traffic. it has left me stuck in my garage and not being able to go in reverse for days at a time.

The cars transmission will shudder and hesitate from a stopped condition. i have had it repaired 2 times and about to take it in for a 3rd. this has been an ongoing issue with this transmission

I've had transmission problems since purchasing the car. two days ago the car would not go into reverse and the engine light came on - it was stuck in the garage at this time. i was finally able to get the car to reverse and the light went off a few hours later. yesterday the car, again, would not reverse and the engine light came back on. this time it was stuck in a parking lot. after many attempts, some of which lead to the car not starting at all, the car finally turned on, and reversed after roughly half an hour. this morning i took the car to webb ford in highland, in for repairs as the transmission has a 100,000 mile warranty. the dealership said they are backed up for over 2 weeks and would not even let me leave my car. the nest closest dealer in calumet city, il is not taking transmission work at all. now, after leaving work, my car will not go over 15mph without jerking and chugging and it seems that i have no way to get the transmission fixed even though it's under warranty because no one will take my car.

The car, is now , beginning to not start,. which i suppose that doesn't matter since the transmission is still completely out, i wish ford would fix it, or go ahead and allow me to collect on the settlement

The car, started jerking really hard. it was not shifting well, then not at all, it slung me into traffic even with my brakes pressed. the car began to just idle almost as if in neutral then it said warning transmission hot

Just got another recall. transmission is still having same issues, particularly in high temps. hesitates, clutch doesn't grab, stalls even when foot is on the gas.

I am bringing in my vehicle for service as i am still having clutch problems. lack of power from stop, car won't shift after 40mph, revs out at 3k rpm.

I purchased a 2013 ford focus se on october 2014. immediately noticed issues with car shaking upon acceleration. figured it had to do with the torque i didn't know better. wasn't till i started having problems starting car and it was hesitating everytime i stopped at a light. after few minutes it would pick up speed without hesitating until i stopped again.( this car is an automatic but feels like a standard.) had recalls and repairs done in 2015, a week after that had to take car back again for same issues. it was repaired again. here we are september 16, 2019 and same issues. but now dealership is saying recall expires 7 yrs from when car was made. not purchased. i was just a week past the expiration date. now i have to pay out of pocket for something ford could not get done right. not only the first time, second and now third time! this will be the last time i purchase a ford.

I recently received another safety recall. brought in for service an all they would do is diagnose, but not fix complete waste of time. i am having a challenging time driving on the freeway yet they told me it's operating as designed.

My focus is still jittering and shuttering at take off. it lacks power and doesn't accelerate like it should.

When driving the vehicle it causes a stuttering movement from a stop. when pressing the gas from a stopped position it starts to shake upon acceleration. the car almost feels like the transmission is slipping and may cause the vehicle to stop. i feel that i am unsafe when this happens.

When driving my car it studders and shakes violently and i'm not sure what to do about it. i have read about the issues with the transmission and wanted to make sure my problem was entered.

Transmission shuttering ,rows backwards on a incline, try to merge in traffic will not move fast enough very dangers ,called ford customer service said it would be covered once i took it to the ford dealership i was charged for diagnostic then was told it was not covered and said it would cost me $1600 to fix ,did not have it fix setting at home in garage

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline). the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed to wray ford (2851 benton rd, bossier city, la 71111, (318) 686-7300) where it was diagnosed that the pcm software crashed and needed to be updated. the vehicle was not repaired per the recall due to the mileage. the manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: cas 23983015. no further assistance was provided. the failure mileage was 160,000.

Transmission slipping and stuttering. car slips out of gear when driving. i have almost been hit multiple times while in motion pulling out into traffic only to have car slip out of gear and not move anymore. car has slipped out of gear on highway many times while in motion

Car has had transmission issues since we bought is new. we took the car in several times for hesitation, slow to catch gears when accelerating and stuttering. replaced sensor and told us to push the gas to the floor and let it go through the gears to rest the system (do as needed). we find our selves again needing to replace transmission parts. now they tell us if it is not fixed soon the car could slip into neutral on the highway or we could loose reverse. not sure why we are not covered by the extended warranty. i feel that a dealer telling you the car can go into neutral on the highway is telling me that the car is unsafe.

This is a consumer protection issue, but moreover this is safety issue. i need help. this car was purchased new for my daughter to finish high school, go to college, and start her career. so i bought an extended warranty. the oil has been changed every 5k by a ford dealer and every repair suggested has been completed. within the first two weeks, it was obvious the car was not shifting properly, as exhibited by shuddering and failed acceleration. it also hesitates to the point that we could get hit pulling into traffic or trying to avoid being hit. the dealer offered many excuses over the next year but i finally received the remedy... "a" new clutch. ford then called me directly to give me a deal that would help me get into another car. this was nothing more than a sales pitch to buy a fusion, which i couldn't afford. under delaware law, i had a case for a lemon law complaint. but i trusted ford. since then, i have had repairs to the transmission, most of which provided for by my extended warranty, other times paid in part by me. ford extended the warranty for all owners, but not for me. i should have received the same extension on top of my extended warranty. on 7/19/19, i notified dealer that the car needed service & i was still having trouble with the transmission. i referenced the tsb advising dealers to diagnose and fix any focus with transmission problems (reported 7/12-19,2019). my dealer has diagnosed the problem and i need clutches. it will cost me $1800 which i cannot afford. i drive a 2001 vehicle so my daughter can go to college 14 hours away. she is leaving in 2 weeks. why would ford not honor that guidance for me? why is there no other remedy, such as a replacement transmission? because they want to sell replacement parts and labor at full cost, passing the cost of safety onto the consumer & the victims of crashes the problem will ultimately cause.

Just picked up yesterday after 4th transmission visit. car was hard shifting in low speeds and when accelerating the car will hesitate and lunge. won't drive distance or on freeway only good for local small routes.

My 2013 ford focus has a shuddering and other known shifting problems associated with the dps6 clutch issues. the detroit free press has outlined these known issues with ford and i am experiencing them as well. these transmission issue occur when i accelerate and may also happen when i am stationary. due to these safety issues i am not willing to travel with my kids or wife in the car. i have to drive the car as a daily driver but there is no way i am placing my family in danger by driving them in the car.

Transmission shifting issues that affect the safety of the vehicle in use. transmission will lag, hard shift, vehicle will get "stuck" when attempting to accelerate. the vehicle will violently shake and shudder going around slow turns or when accelerating from a stop. in traffic, the acceleration lag as well as she shuddering are dangerous. the vehicles brakes do not respond as well when shuddering. ford insists that all vehicle parts are operating correctly. if that is the case, ford has designed an incredibly unsafe vehicle.

Power shift dual clutch transmission is jumping and seeming to go in and out of gear. it has been replaced once already but now starting to do it again after 25000 to 35000 miles. i have been noticing a shutter more and more lately. ford knew about this safety issue and did nothing about it and not i do not feel like my vehicle is safe to drive. there are several things that i notice about this transmission that makes it unsafe. sometimes slips out of gear, shutters on take off, and shakes at an idle. i am the 2nd owner on the vehicle, when i purchased the vehicle in nov 2018 the prev owner told me that a new transmission was in place without this issue, but i found out that it was just the ford fix to the transmission which many people are having issues with as it was not fixed as a long term fix but a short term fix.

Driving my 2013 ford focus, i had stopped at a stop sign. when i tried to accelerate the warning "hill start assist not available" flashed and then the car turned off. i put the car in park and after a few attempts i got the car started, but the engine light came on and "transmission fault service now" flashed. i was able to drive it home and it was checked out by an auto repair guy. he tried to reprogram the computer but the the transmission fault error continues to flash and the car won't start.

My car's dps6 transmission is jumpy, catches, and slips every single time i drive my car. the car violently shakes every time the transmission needs to shift up, and some times will slip when downshifting to a complete stop. this has been persisting since i bought the car right after its initial release and has been unable to be mitigated by repeated trips to mechanics and ford dealerships. i have repeatedly stopped in the middle of intersections when accelerating because the transmission shifts into neutral and i must come to a stop before it will shift back into gear.

My 2013 ford focus stalled out in the middle of an intersection and would not start due to a faulty tcm. we do not make right-hand turns on red because the vehicle does accelerate properly and shimmers and shakes when accelerating. we have advised ford of this issue and was advised this is normal performance for this car.

The vehicle started shuddering badly between gear shifts and transmission began slipping in and out of gear at highway and city driving speeds. returned the vehicle to the dealership, parkway ford in winston salem, nc for evaluation and repair. this was the 8th incident with this vehicle. they replaced the clutch, seal assemblies and reprogramed thepcm/tcm. i got in the vehicle to drive home and my first worry was if i would make it home safely and without a mishap.

Daily occurrence. it speeds up on it's own. it loses power in intersections and while merging. it sometimes doesn't respond to attempted acceleration. it shutters so bad, and i can't predict what it will do. it's been happening for years, and the dealership says ford has no long term fix. i was almost hit.multiple times because it stopped accelerating. i almost hit others multiple times because it accelerated on its own. it's been happening since 17000 miles when i bought it.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while driving 10 mph and/or making turns, the vehicle spontaneously accelerated and stalled. the vehicle was able to restart. additionally, the air conditioner and radio turned on by themselves without warning. the vehicle was taken to arlington heights ford (801 w dundee rd, arlington heights, il 60004, (888) 481-8607), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 52,269.

The vehicle stutters, shakes, shudders, grinds, and jerks when accelerating from a stand still or accelerating out of a a lower turn. i had the clutch replaced a year ago but that only solved the problem for a few months. now it's worse than ever and i drive it exactly how the ford mechanic people described. crossing 4 lane highways has become a risky endeavor now as i never know if the car will stall or lag or accelerate fast enough to get through. i voiced this safety concern with ford more than once but they didn't care. the ford shop has tried to convince me the issue was my own fault because of how i drive it but i've seen many other similar complaints online. they also blamed the problem on a leaky seal within the clutch and ensured the replacement would fix the issue but clearly it hasn't. the whole design is defective but ford literally doesn't care. personally, i never carry any passengers because i never know when i'll be stranded or get into an accident because of this transmission/clutch issue. i also get regular oil changes and other basic car maintenance to try to be as safe as possible but i feel it's a time bomb. *js

Transmission shudders and shifts erratically in low gears. sometimes unanticipated accelerations from low gears and sometimes transmission shifts into low gears while at higher speeds, causing vehicle to rev up and loose accelerations intermittently.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. the contact stated that the accelerator pedal traveled to the floorboard when it was depressed and the vehicle accelerated roughly. there was a brief delay before the vehicle moved forward. the vehicle also hesitated before shifting into gear. also, the transmission indicator illuminated. the vehicle was driven to donley lincoln ford (1455 coshocton ave, mt vernon, oh 43050, (740) 392-2222) where it was diagnosed that a control module, seals, and the dual clutch needed to be installed. the vehicle was not repaired; however, the control module and seals were covered under warranty. the other part was not. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they would not cover the cost of the dual clutches. the failure mileage was 136,000. the vin was unknown.

Bolt sheared off in the transmission while on the highway causing the car to stall out & be unable to go into any gear, gates for the gears seemed to be gone as shifter knob could move freely around. it did re-start once, just long enough to get off the highway, then immediately stopped working again. got the bolt replaced with a ford bolt, it sheared off again while driving downtown within 4 days, had it replaced and bolted through a 2nd time, and it sheared off yet again while merging onto the highway, 2 of the three times this happened car was above 30mph, one time i was only going about 15mph. car is still not functional & ford has stated thus far, their suggestion is replacing the transmission, which seems to be a temporary fix, as everyone else who i know/have looked up that's had this done only gets the vehicle working for a short period of time and then the vehicle stops working again when the bolt shears off. this seems to be a common issue for the 2012-2016 ford focus, though i don't know if it's just manual or both manual & automatic transmissions.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while driving various speeds, the vehicle lost acceleration and stalled without warning. the contact drove to jones ford (5757 rivers ave, north charleston, sc 29406, (843) 744-3311) where it was diagnosed that the clutch needed replacing. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 95,000. the vin was unknown.

Transmission does not accelerate at times and disengages during driving. tranmission does not shift properly has shaking condition when starting from a stop.

I have a 2013 ford focus se. i bought it used at 84k miles from a dealership in february of 2019. first time i got gas after buying the car it had trouble starting afterwards. had that fixed and it doesn't stall but the miles to empty reads incorrectly now. also started making a grinding sort of noise when i'm going up slight inclines. when i go from a stop light or stop sign it shudders during accelerating. i was getting onto the highway and had to stop on the entrance ramp due to road work and almost couldn't get enough power to get onto the interstate. currently this website is saying all of my recalls have been repaired.

Car would not start. jump started battery. dashboard reference transmission error. press ok to clear the message. shifted from park to reverse and the car would not move. shifted to drive and car would not move. the vehicle has been to the dealership for the intermediate shifting problems. ford refers to the shifting problem with transmission as a customer satisfaction program and not a recall. referencing 14m02 as the control module being the culprit and 14m01 as the transmission clutch being the cousin of the culprit. there are several posting indicating a lack of addressing the faulty issue when driving. we do not believe ford is taking an active role in identifying tractability of the components we understand there is a lawsuit for this particular problem.

1. the transmission jumped at intersection once. the transmission did not switch from park to drive once. the software was re-configured several times but it still not running smoothly at low speed. this issue happened since i bought the car in new. 2. the fuel tank indicator did not show correct fuel level. the engine light on. the car seems loosing power. had to bring the car to the dealer to re-configure the software.

Dps6 transmission shutter has been attempted to be repaired 4 times. was told the last time that it should be a permanent fix. it's starting to shutter yet again. every time i'm told it's okay and have to fight to get it repaired. this worries me as entering a highway via on ramp when you need to build up speed and it shutters it can be very dangerous.

Transmission problems

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while driving 30 mph, the transmission began to shudder and the vehicle decelerated. the vehicle lost power and hesitated. the contact attempted to depress the accelerator pedal, but the vehicle would not move forward. the vehicle was driven to ford of san leandro (1111 marina blvd, san leandro, ca 94577) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle needed a new transmission clutch and module. the dealer would not repair the vehicle because it was eight days past the warranty requirement. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. the failure mileage was 82,774.

On friday, may 30. 2019, around 5:00pm, i was driving to a family event. i had just stopped for gas about 15 minutes prior to the incident happening. as ibwas driving and i came to a stop. just as the light turned green, signaling for me to go, and i released my foot from the brake and began to accelerate, my car stalled. i was in the middle of a very busy intersection. i immediately put on my hazard lights, put my car in neutral, and began pushing it out of the street. there was smoke coming from the hood that eventually dissipated. i made several attempts to restart my car and it never would. i called my roadside assistance provider and had my car towed home. i have been trying to figure out the issue when today i had a reader plugged into my car to test for any error codes. surely, codes p0100, p2227 and p0456 all came up. as i researched these codes, i was brought to the nhtsa website and found thid recall that i was never notified of and there's no remedy for. i am without transportation.
