We have classified the 793 complaints from 2013 Ford Focus about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
When starting from a stopped point the car sometimes struggles to go. sometimes while driving the vehicle shuddders for shifting.
Bought this car - had less than 2 years and the transmission failed twice. the transmission issues were covered under a recall. steering assist fault/malfunction was happening. you'd shut the car off and turn it back on and it would fix itself. the steering assist fault come one while my daughter was driving and she could no longer steer the vehicle. thank god she wasn't involved in a car accident and was close to our house. this seems to be a well-known defect in the ford cars and ford is offering no help to fix the issues. they are going to get sued because, sadly, this defect is going to end up killing someone. they are lucky my daughter wasn't hurt. this steering issue should be recalled. lives are at risk and no one seems to care (especially ford!). now ford wants $2,500 to fix this defect. i don't think so! ford will not get another red cent from me, ever! their steering defect could have cost my daughter her life! i'm ready for a class action lawsuit. i'm ready to fight! what is it going to take to get this defect recalled? an innocent life, maybe two? what? everyone is put on notice that there is a serious malfunction with this car and i know ford already knows about it. they've had issues with steering in their other vehicles that have been recalled and they've had 100s+ (if not more) of complaints with this vehicle in particular regarding the steering. ford turning a blind eye is completely unacceptable!
My car is missing/stuttering, the fuel gauge doesn't show the accurate miles to empty, and my car shuts off while i'm driving both locally and on the highway. i've almost been in two wrecks because the car keeps shutting off. when i put gas in the vehicle the car won't immediately crank. i have to try to crank it about 3 times before it starts. my car does a lot of the same things that are listed in recall # 18v735.
Many people are aware of the transmission control module problem with the 2013 ford focus that has been recalled. however, i have had another problem with my ford focus that i researched and found that many more people are having the same or similar problem with their fuel tank collapsing and needing to replace most of the components in the entire fuel system. i had the purge valve replaced as an out of pocket expense as my extended warranty has expired, hoping this would fix the problem. i was informed by the mechanic that to fix my car completely, it would most likely need a new fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel line and of course the purge valve ( which i had replaced ). my car is only 5 years old and i do not know how or why i need to replace the entire fuel system. i have seen many posts describing the same situation on carcomplaints.com and know of someone locally who i know personally who has the exact same problem with their 2013 ford focus. when driving, my engine will shut off completely. from time to time, my oil light will come on as my engine stalls out and tries to 'die' and i can press the gas to 'revive' the engine and keep it from shutting off. this repair of the fuel system was estimated to cost $2,000 to repair and i just don't have it. i listed my car online for $5,400 as is and have no one interested in it at that price after i've invested nearly $20,000 in this car in the 4 years i've been making payments, maintenance and repairs on it. i've also had the power steering replaced on this vehicle when i had around 80,000 miles on it. the power steering failed while in motion and almost caused an accident. this particular vehicle is a dangerous one. buyer beware.
The vehicle was in motion, on a highway when the vehicle jutted. later, on a country road the transmission failure notification popped up. when sitting in a drive thru a hill start assist mode not available notification popped up and the vehicle would not move. it was as if the vehicle could not switch gears. i had to restart my car for it to move. this happened again when i had to stop again and i had to turn my car off and on a couple times before i could get my car to move.
Was driving to work and my car would not go . the rpms went way high and i could not go over 15 miles per hour in my car. also my automatic clutch was bad and my stereo also has stopped working.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. after starting the vehicle, the power steering malfunctioned and the steering wheel became very difficult to turn in either direction. the power steering sensor also illuminated. in addition, while driving, the transmission malfunctioned and caused the vehicle to hesitate when accelerating. the vehicle was towed to the local dealer (coughlin ford, 24001 u.s. rt. 23 south, circleville oh) where it was diagnosed that both the transmission and steering column were faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. the failure mileage was 106,000. *tt consumer stated car had issues with clutch since it was bought. updated 11/26/18*jb
While driving on highway at 65-70mph, transmission downshifted from 6th gear to 3rd then to 1st, followed by free spun in neutral. vehicle was nearly hit by several vehicles due to extreme deceleration during rush hour traffic. luckily we we are able to get safely off the highway without being injured. vehicle experience warning indicators for transmission failure, hill start failure, parking assist failure, and service engine soon light. attempted restart did not clear and warnings and car would no longer shift into any gears. vehicle was subsequently towed to nearest dealer. the transmission has been repaired/serviced 3 previous times by the dealer.
Here we go with dps6 failure #5. shudder and transmission slip became more severe. so, we scheduled a diagnostic visit to the dealer, parkway ford in winston salem, nc. the test revealed that the clutch needed replacing again. the service consultant told me the reason for the problem was there was a leak in my oil seal. strange that my personal mechanic did not notice any leak in the oil seal at the previous oil change. this dealership had replaced the oil seal previously. i do not trust anything this dealership tells me. i do not trust ford motor company. i do not trust this vehicle to be able to get me safely to and from the places i must go. this situation has become outrageous. i am reporting these incidents to you at the advice of my attorney in the hopes that the defects in this vehicle might be noticed during the proposed senate investigations.
Prior to incident, vehicle would intermittently shudder on take-offs. incident involved vehicle traveling on an interstate highway at 70 mph on the outskirts of a large metro area when all power to wheels was lost. the check engine light turned on. engine would rev when accelerator was pressed, but car acted as if in neutral. car coasted to a stop. the car would not shift out of neutral until after the car sat for over an hour. the car was towed to a ford dealership. ford service department advised that the transmission control module (tcm) had failed and a new tcm was installed and car now works most of the time, but intermittent shudder on take off still occurs, though less frequently than before.
I pulled out into traffic and my transmission stopped working. couldn't even pull off the road. ended up pushing it to the side of the road and the police called a tow truck. tow cost me $140.00 to have it towed to a ford garage.
Although we have experienced several problems with the transmission operation previously, the following incident left my wife stranded on the side of the road when driving home from the grocery store. "on 08/12/2019 at 67,331 miles, while traveling 35 mph approximately 1/2 mile after the restart of a warm engine and lightly accelerating on a county road, the shifting of the transmission became erratic and the check engine and check transmission lights came on in the instrument cluster. the driver pulled of the road and called me for assistance. i drove to her location and i slowly drove the focus to the ford dealership with the other driver following in our other car. the dealership, on the next day, replaced the transmission control module and the clutch assembly." the vehicle operated well for 6 months and 6,000 miles until the entire transmission had to be replaced at my cost ($6,600) due to excessive multiple bearing noise. ford, through poor customer service, would not respond to assist in the repair cost.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while waiting for the red light to turn green, the vehicle began to hesitate and lose acceleration. also, the "transmission fault" message illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was towed to team ford/lincoln (905 brady ave, steubensville, oh 43952) where it was diagnosed that the clutch kit needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was towed to jim robinson ford (95 robinson dr, triadelphia, wv 26059) where it was currently being repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the contact also received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline). the approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
I have a 2013 ford focus se hatchback and as i was getting gas yesterday ( 8/8/2018) after i completed putting gas in my car and go to start the car up it started beeping and then i got a message that said transmission fault service now. so i took it to my house and noticed as i was driving the car that it didn't want to shift as it normally would and it was making a horrible grinding and humming sound coming from the front left side of the car as well as from underneath the driver seat area. until yesterday the car has never made that sound before and i have owned this car for 1 year and this is the first problem that i have had other than normal ware and tear. i also got to looking and it seems that this is a common issue with this particular model of car. from my understanding it is a issue with the powershift that ford has been using and it can cause people to go thru about 3 to 4 transmissions per every 3 to 5 years. i do believe that this could be a very dangerous and very harmful malfunctioning that needs to be looked into.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while the vehicle was idling at a red light, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle stalled. the contact stated that the failure recurred on several occasions. in addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road until it started slowing down and stopped operating. the vehicle was turned off and was able to restart. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the contact called pundmann ford (2727 w clay st, st charles, mo 63301, (636) 946-6611) and the vehicle was awaiting diagnostic testing. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 70,000.
When trying to accelerate from a stop, there is a major hesitation/lag. experience shuttering when accelerating from a stop. engine revs, but transmission will not engage. stalled in middle of an intersection when tcm failed. multiple occasions. all paper work has been attached. tcm replaced and clutch replaced many times.
This car has a faulty powershift transmission. it has been "fixed" under the recall 4 times and now needs to have the clutch assembly repaired or replaced. ford has 2 different extended warranty categories for this problem. one that covers the entire transmission and one that covers just the transmission control module. they arbitrarily only covered our car for the transmission control module, despite having work done on the entire transmission
Ford motor company / brighton ford, refusing to cover vehicle repair even though car falls within all parameters and exhibits not only one, but both conditions covered under two separate programs at ford, (14mo1 ? transmission clutch shutter) and (14mo2 transmission engagement or loss of power) with all symptoms present. early in june, my 2013 ford focus (vin- [xxx]) began experiencing a periodic shutter while driving. issue progressively got worse. some driving times no issues noticeable, other driving times shutter apparent. as time went by, the problem progressed into a grinding noise while it was shifting into different gears. in late june i attempted to make an appointment at my local dealership (brighton ford) to have the transmission looked at, scheduled first available appointment at brighton ford monday, july 16th. while on the freeway driving home from work sunday july 15th the car began to lose power while trying to shift gears. after a short period, the transmission fault service now light appeared, and car stayed in what seemed to be a sluggish mode. i was able to drive it under that condition directly to the dealership to leave it at the overnight drop location to be looked at during my scheduled appointment the following morning. did receive a call from service advisor [xxx] monday 7/16 advising that without actually tearing the transmission apart to determine the cause, being unable to drive the vehicle to replicate the shutter and no apparent leaks or contamination this issue would not be covered under warranty. this particular model year vehicle with the dps6 automatic transmission has two know transmission issues: customer satisfaction program 14mo1 - transmission clutch shutter / transmission input shaft seal warranty extension. customer satisfaction program 14mo2, transmission control module extended warranty coverage. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Feels like the transmission slips. going uphill on a highway a speed of approx. 35 mpg, (normal speed for area i was in), had a hesitation felt like i was losing acceleration. once uphill, pulled into a driveway and put in reverse to turn around, car would not go reverse, would go forward, into park and neutral, but not reverse. shut off all accessories (a/c, radio etc.) put in park and turned car off. waited 5 minutes and turned car back on and reverse worked. i have felt a slip as such only on a couple of occasions and car corrected itself, but this time it did not, until i shut the car off all the way.
The first problem was with the transmission, ford extended the warranty to cover whatever the part was out to 150k miles. the second problem was the radio/sync system quit working. and as of today july 7 a steering assist fault warning is coming up on the dash. i did some research and the problem does not appear to be an isolated incident. the steering assist fault warning comes on when you start the vehicle, we have not seen it happen while in motion.
1fadp3n29d[xxx] fors focus 2013 hatchback titanium has problems with the tcm transmission modulator. this car has been babied and has in my opinion a factory defect with the transmission. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).' *pm
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while driving 30 mph, the vehicle decelerated and the check engine indicator illuminated. the contact stated that the vehicle lost power when making turns or coming to a stop. the contact called dave sinclair ford (7466 s lindbergh blvd, st. louis, mo 63125, (314) 892-2600) and was informed that there was no remedy. a loaner vehicle was not provided. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified and informed the contact to work out the issue with the dealer. the failure mileage was 113,762.
Transmission shudder then driving on highway low oil light came on randomly happened before took to shop and said the rear main seal went out which caused oil to leak into transmission and making the clutch slip
I understand that there is a powershift recall on all 2013 ford focus cars with automatic transmission. my car falls under that recall and i want this taken care of . i plan on retaining an attorney so i can get something done about the fact that i am driving and paying on a defective car. i was driving down a steep hill and a warning about my transmission running hot came on, i had just called my mechanic to check why my engine light had come on, and had to get the car towed to the shop. he checked and told me that it was due to the powershift recall, and that ford plant should make the necessary repairs, they will also claim that in court if necessary.
Starting february 2018 the car was jerking and it had turned off on me while on the highway 3 times. i have changed oxygen sensors and purge valve (i have receipts) and it had initially helped. as of june 2, 2018, it is jerking and turning off again and throwing check engine code p0805 and p080a. the system from car notified me that the transmission was hot and needed to be turned off. from june 2, 2018 i have not driven the car.
Car is back in the shop again for shudder bad at take off turning into traffic. ford is telling me shudder and jerking is within normal and acceptable range. i don't know how this shudder is acceptable. i've had the clutches replaced several times and the car is suppose to have the update clutches but here we are again with issues. the car clunked and jerked out of gear going 65 down the interstate at one point and wouldn't do anything luckily no one was behind me and i was able to come to a stop off the road and get a tow. this car has had way too many transmission issues and makes me scared to drive yet i'm still making payments on this car because i can't get out of loan do to the resale value dropping due to this transmission. this car does not feel safe and under no circumstances should the shudder, jerking, and delayed reactions be considered normal and safe.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while accelerating from a stop, the vehicle failed to accelerate when depressing the accelerator pedal. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 37,000.
Transmission has never worked correctly, brought into ford to have recall of part of transmission repaired. never shifted correctly into next gear, sometimes jerked and sputtered and makes grinding noise and was told that it was because engine was 4 cylinder. early in 2018, electrical system shut down. dash lights of defrost, door lock no longer worked. trunk stopped opening, radio stopped working and all that was heard was loud static sporadically with or without radio being on, and dome lights no longer worked either. brought into ford dealer and was told car needed new clutch (due to transmission never working correctly) and was no longer covered under warranty. was told the electrical system failures were due to battery, which was replaced outside of dealer with no fix to problems at all. was told need to replace radio which was no longer any good, car less than 5 years old at this time and that the trunk latch needed to be replaced. was told none of the issues on the car were covered under warranty. also received information in 2016 for class action law suit regarding my vehicle due to transmission issues.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while driving 55 mph, the vehicle independently shifted into neutral and the transmission warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. a local dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to a local dealer. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was approximately 115,600.
Im having problems with my car's transmision. i bought it when it had 53k miles on it, now it has 69k. the problem has been there since i purchased it. the car hesitates when shifting through gears, the engine revvs up but the transmision will not respond as normal, it slips/hesitates. while driving on highways it sometimes displays a warning saying "transmision overheating pull over and turn engine off". i believe this is a major safety issue. i spoke with ford dealership and they said the warranty does not cover this. they are instructing to replace the clucth.
While taking off from stop lights in the car shifts from first gear into second gear i get a bunny hop vibration out of the front end of my car service at the ford dealer tells me that there is nothing wrong with my vehicle but yet my vehicle keeps doing this i want to know if there might be a recall on the transmission of this vehicle it states that there is not but i believe that there is a problem with ford's transmissions on several different vehicles
When the car starts moving from a stop, the transmission is slipping causing a loss in momentum. this happens in the first two gears.
Transmission failure. car was stopped in a parking lot and hill assist light came on, warning on info center screen saying hill assist unavailable. when trying to move forward car reved like it was in neutral, info center showing "d". moved shift lever to park, no change on info screen, reverse and drive no change. shut off car and car would not start like it was in gear. placed lever in park and removed foot from brake and car started rolling. moved car to parking spot with lever in park and info screen showing drive. only parking brake kept car from moving.
Right now, ford is rebuilding the hybrid transition for my 2013 ford focus for at least the 4th or 5th time. there have been so many problems with this model, so many complete shut downs (sometimes as i am getting on the highway) and so many service appointments that it's astonishing there are no official recalls on the books. i would absolutely never consider buying another ford until they make this situation right.
(1) google ford transmission settlement. incredibly dangerous problem with design. that's the biggest problem and although i took it in to the dealer and they "fixed" it i have no faith. (2) i had to have it towed to a dealer this morning for electronic power assist failure. lost steering while driving. googled that and found out about the massive problems with this issue. contacted ford and they said vin doesn't show it as a recall. i'm absolutely disgusted with the level of deceit by ford.
During a routine oil change with my regular mechanic in dobson, nc, the mechanic noticed the transmission slipping. i began to notice the shudder during shifting had returned. so, i returned to the dealer, parkway ford in winston salem, nc. on the way to the dealer, a representative called me and said the dealership was interested in buying back my car. i told her that i was represented by an attorney and that her call was very irregular and illegal. when i arrived at the dealership, the service consultant refused to even run a diagnostic on my car saying that he could not since i was represented by an attorney. i reminded him of the 100,000 mile extended warranty i had purchased with the vehicle. he called for the shop foreman to go for a ride with me. the shudder and the slip were noticed by the shop foreman. but, he said that both were normal and that was the way the vehicle saved fuel. when we returned to the dealership, i was presented with a copy of a ford service bulletin that was no more than propaganda. my mechanic said emphatically that the shudder on shifting and slipping out of gear were not normal in any vehicle and could be dangerous, so, the fourth incident with the dps6 transmission goes unrepaired. i contacted my attorney in novi, mi and he documented the incident for filing with my case in the federal district court. this incident occurred three months after the last clutch replacement.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while driving various speeds, the transmission slipped gears and the vehicle accelerated. the service transmission warning indicator illuminated. the contact had to apply the brakes in order to reduce the speed of the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to the dealer tinpusher, llc (801 s state st unit 10 11, bunnell, fl 32110) where it was diagnosed that the transmission clutch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 119,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle would not accelerate beyond 35 mph. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the sensors inside the transmission were faulty. the vehicle was not repaired. a dealer was not made aware of the failure. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 71,000. the vin was not available.
When taking off from idle, it shutters and jerks, almost caused me to hit another vehicle, the transmission allso allows role back on a hill.
The car is stalling when accelerating which seems to be a common complaint from this year focus owners. i took the vehicle to a transmission shop but they too were unable to diagnose. some of the reading is showing there is an electrical connection issue which is causing this.
Car shudders at varying severities--sometimes more mild than others, mostly severe otherwise during accelration, and various moments while driving, and during the entire process of turning. i have brought my vehicle to george wall ford lincoln in shrewsbury nj twice for this specific issue. first time they updated a module and it helped for about a week. then the problem returned. second time they had it even longer, and upon pick up i was told that the car was acting 'within spec', and doing 'what it is designed to do,' so no fix was made. car continues to shudder severely. transmission is technically manual, despite being an automatic, and the computer does the shifting. that is what i was told. however, if that is the case, then this car drives manual terribly. i contacted ford customer support chat and was told i do not qualify for buyback because of car's age/mileage. care is under 50k miles, and i bought the car certified preowned november 2017, just under a year ago. i was not informed of any recalls, or the transmission's behavior upon looking, buying, and paying for the car in full all in one evening. i have just sent a lenghtly letter to ford customer relationships this week. awaiting response. may file lemon law if situation is not handled properly. i have been told my car's issue is not safety related so it is not dire, however during inclement weather, or when going through turns, or simply starting my car gently at lights has become an issue, and i have nearly been rear ended many times. eventually i will not be so lucky as to escape yet another near-accident. soon, i can only imagine, i will most likely have a car come crashing into my rear end because of failed and shuddering accelration due to the shoddy transmission clutch shudder.
Engine tends to falter when accelerating. engine tends to hesitate. shuddering and vibration regardless of whether on city street or highway.
I purchased the certified pre-owned ford in 2014 and in 2016 had to it in for service on a clutch asy- sensor turbi issue. after a few weeks the vehicle was returned. the aforementioned happened again and was taken in for the 2nd time for the clutch asy-sensor turbi issue. on 11/17/2017 it was diagnosed with the same issues for the 3rd time, this time i was told its out of warranty. i explained that the vehicle had this issues two prior times and the clutch system was defective. i was then told to take the matter up with corporate. i also located a class action lawsuit against ford for the same issues am facing. please help hold ford responsible for installing defective clutch systems in their vehicles.
My transmission has been having issues while driving for a long time and now has gone out. when i would drive it would skip in first gear.
Car started shifting funny so i took it to the ford dealer they said something electronic on the transmission needed changed so they did something did not charge me for anything but it's still shifts differently they said it had to get used to the way i was driving one month later my steering unit went out i took it to the ford dealer they put it on the machine the the person i talk to on the phone said it needed a whole new steering column and it was $2,100 and at that time they would readjust the module on the steering for free i said no i did not have $2,100 so i had to pay the $99 to have it put on the machine and when i got the paperwork it said nothing about a steering column it only said i declined module programming and that cost was $125 had i paid the 125 i would not have paid that had to pay the 99 dollars but there is nothing on here about a steering column i do know this is difficult for me to prove what he said to me but there is nothing on this paper saying anything about a steering column i do feel that this was a gimmick on this model because they have had so many problems my transmission is still shifting funny
I noticed that my car was shuttering while up shifting at slow speeds in traffic during the last week. now the transmission fault light is on and it has difficulty shifting into high gear. i read online that ford extended it's warranty on this model for this specific problem but when i called the service center they told me that it is a specific warranty and they i might not qualify or be coverd and that he would have to look at the vehicle. the internet is full of 2013 ford focus's with this specific problem. i need to find out if this qualifies because i need this car for work and cannot afford $2000 to fix a faulty ford transmission. i know that this letter may be premature but i'm worried about transportation to work and lack of money to fix this car which is financed.
Car has already shut down while driving twice ,a year and a half ago. i took it topatrick st. ford, it shut down again in parking lot, had to push it into garage. they supposedly fixed a sensor recall. did nothing to the unbelievable shaking and shuttering recall. 3 weeks ago when i left work, i noticed instrument panel was black, said no gas, 0 mph, and so forth. blinkers wouldn't work on inside but the driver behind me could see me signaling from behind me. pulled into convenient store , turned car off, went inside, came back and car wouldn't start at all. had it towed to same berte wolfe ford , they told me it was electrical wiring issues and it would be 380$ , they called back next day and said 500$ more. i told him to stop and i would pay tho 380$ and have it looked at somewhere else but if i did and other place said it was ford's accountability i would be back. sales manager j.c. assured me he would reimburse me everything if that was the case. i took it to copleys in chas wv and jay russ hooked up his computer and said , looks like ford owes you. they should of fixed the problem last time it was with them and he couldn't work on it because it was ford parts and should been fixed free. i need my car fixed before someone gets injured. they have been aware of this and keep denying it. it's most complained car of that yr. multiple fsa's and electrical recall along with shutter lawsuit. new cars on list include my year , 6 speed auto transmission and michigan assembly plant. just from me mentioning those things to j.c. , he took my bill from 380$ to 240$ . seemed fishy to me , that's why i wanted a second opinion and took it elsewhere and i found out pretty much what i expected. car was 13000$ paid off and has been nothing but a shuttering possible deathtrap on wheels. i'm just fortunate it hasn't shutdown and lost steering going on a busy interstate.ref: tsb16-0044
When leaving the rest area i had severe shuttering and crunching sounds from the transmission. i lost the use of gear 2 and gear 6. i had to go 200 miles to get home with a transmission that would not go into the last gear. my engine was revving just to go 65mph. the next day on the way to the dealer i lost gear 2 on a left turn and barely avoided a collision.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle lost power. the vehicle was towed to hemborg ford (1900 hamner ave, norco, ca 92860) where it was diagnosed that the clutch assembly needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact it would be up to the dealer to determine if it was a manufacturer issue. the approximate failure mileage was 114,000.
Vehicle purchased in 2015 with less than 20k miles. 1st problem, exploded tire causing minor body damage and sensor damage. thankfully just came from a stop sign and not traveling fast, no injury. 2nd problem, driving down road at approx 35mph when airbags suddenly deployed. wondered if hit small animal. got out to investigate.....nothing. vehicle then rolled off road (decline in terrain) landing rested in a chain link fence. upon inspection, discovered that motor mounts had failed causing motor to drop forwards towards radiator therefore indicating crash and deploying airbags. all components connected to motor ripped forwards as well. thankfully also no injury. if that would have occurred at high speeds, serious injury or death could have resulted. there is no reason or excuse for failure of motor mounts. this is clearly a defect. contacted ford at the highest level number i was able to obtain. requested only to address safety issue. they issued a claim, dismissed it and would not allow me to speak to anyone with the authority to address the issue. contacted chevy dealership where vehicle was purchased, they said ford would have to address the issue. then took vehicle to ford dealership to run diagnostic to evaluate why airbags deployed. this vehicle contains a module that contains data pertaining to airbag deployment. it is as simple as retrieving the data! only ford field rep can do this. towed vehicle to dealership to perform diagnostic to next be referred to rep for data retrieval. employees of dealership were not allowed by their supervisor to examine the vehicle due to the extent of damage under the hood. someone needs to be concerned with the integrity of the motor mounts on this vehicle. other vehicles may have this problem as well. if mounts were to fail at high speeds, catastrophic crash would be eminent. damage from crash would hide failed mounts as cause
