Shift lever override
If a malfunction occurs and the shift lever cannot be moved out of the PARK position, you can use one of the following procedures to temporarily move the shift lever:
Column Shifter If Equipped
1. Firmly set the parking brake. 2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position without starting the engine. 3. Tilt the steering wheel to the full up position 4. Press and maintain firm pressure on the brake pedal. 5. Using a screwdriver or similar tool, press and hold the override tab through the access port (ringed circle) on the bottom of the steering column.
6. Move the shift lever into the NEUTRAL position. 7. The vehicle may then be started in NEUTRAL.

Center Console Shifter If Equipped
To access the override, carefully remove (using a flat- bladed screwdriver) the override access cover which is located on the right of the shift lever gate. 1. Firmly set the parking brake. 2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position without starting the engine. 3. Press and maintain firm pressure on the brake pedal. 4. Using a screwdriver or similar tool, press and hold the override tab through the access port on the center con- sole.
5. Move the shift lever into the NEUTRAL position. 6. The vehicle may then be started in NEUTRAL. 7. Reinstall the shift lever override access cover.
