Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2010 Dodge Journey

My wife was driving the car and it shut off while driving. the engine and electric system shut off and she could not use the brakes. she had to coast to a parking lot and then it started up again. we have taken it into a mechanic and there is no information on the computer regarding what happened. he cannot diagnose the problem.

I was driving down the road and all of a sudden the driver airbag light came on, it would then shut off and then ding and turn back on, it did this for several miles before it just stayed on. another incident that has happened several times is that all the dash indicator lights come on while i'm driving, it puts my car in limp mode, i then have to pull over, shut the car off and then restart it for it to be ok again. this is a real safety concern as well, i could crash and get in a serious accident and i typically have my young kids with me. i searched my vin to see if the recalls have been done and from what i can see they have, so i don't know if this is a reoccurring electrical issue or if this is something new.

When u turn key in ignition it doesn't always start you have to keep trying,,,it will go days without starting then start for several days have had to tow unit twice windows come down by themselves when vehicle not running when u go to put it in drive it won't move out of park unless you turn off engine and restart vehicle horn goes off whenever it wants too car doesn't always unlock when you use remote or relock itself

Horn blew intermittently at first when shutting doors, and occasionally for no reason. windows would go down part way when doors were shut. ignition would sometimes just click click when key is turned, wipers would move when not engaged to be on. battery would go complexly dead for no reason and then be ok for a month or two and then do it again. had to disconnect the horn a few years ago as it would not stop going off. has been in to kayer chrysler, dodge service several times and they could not find issue. they just called and said they founsd. short in the main electrical component and it will cost $1100plus for part and up to $200 to install. we have had these issues since we bought it. oh yeh heat and air on passenger side quit working a few winters ago, and the doors fill with water in every rain storm. park on a hill after a rain and doors will drain for hours. we have friends that have bought journeys and say they have no problems really. can't believe there s not a recall for such a mess. oh yes and occasionally it will not shift all gears and i need to pull ver on highway, turn off ignition and restart and it usually works. wish i weren't retired on limited income, i would get rid of it before i get killed. iyt only has 1000,000 miles. hopefully it matures soon,1

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. while driving at various speeds or while parked, the horn independently activated. the vehicle was taken to classic chrysler jeep dodge ram of denton located at 4984 s interstate 35, denton, tx 76210, (940) 230-2351, but was not diagnosed nor repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure, case number: 150800292. no further assistance was provided. the failure mileage was 63,000.

My 1010 dodge journey horn intermittently honks non-stop. no pattern to the honking. does it when engine is off, on, or when driving. chrysler/dodge dealership had car from 8 am to 5:30 pm. removed steering wheel, rerouted wome wires. envoice said said 'referred to star case s150800292. checked key fobs, one tested good, the other was intermittent at times'. they found no problem. said for he to advise them if it happens again. paid $116.13 for diagnosis, but found no problem as to why horn would honk randomly. drove home, parked car in garage, no honking. next morning went into garage & horn started blasting on & off intermittently. had to pull left & right horn relays (once again) from fuse box. still no answers, still no horn. with road rage the way it is today, i find this to be a major safety issue, that should have been addressed years ago. i've found many frustrated 2010 dodge journey owners on a dodge forum, with same problem, and no answers. paying a lot of money to dodge dealers, with no results or answers.

Car will start and turn off multiple times. while driving down the road car will turn off of keys are moving too much. if you move the keys car will sometimes turn back on, otherwise you have to restart the car.

While driving, all electrical goes out or flickers. the car will sometimes lose power on acceleration above 20mph regardless if turning, on highway or neighborhood roads. this has happen a few times since last month and thought it was my battery. i exchanged the battery and the issue wasnt resolved.

I noticed a clicking noise around the ignition switch, when the car is idling in park. i took my car in to the local dodge dealer to be looked at. i was told the win module was going out and needed to be replaced. i know there is a recall on this, but my vehicle's vin did not show a recall notice for this particular problem.

The vehicle shut off at intersection and would not turn back on tried to jump start it no noise when turning the key

2010 dodge journey will not start. battery tested good and all connections are good and will start sometimes and will not start sometimes have to cycle through gears and then sometimes will start

Horn starts beeping when parked. this is not happening all the time but occasionally at night when parked in our driveway or garage when we are sleeping and the horn chirping wakes us up. when i check on it it is silent. when parked in parking lot i was told my horn was going off and when i went out to check it was no longer making any noise. this past week while parked in my driveway, it started honking constantly to the point i had to remove the 2 fuses for it to stop.

My vehicle will randomly not start. i turn the key in the ignition and the lights and radio come on, but it only clicks and doesn't start. then i attempt to start it again and it will magically start. this intermittent starting has no rhyme or reason and has left me stranded with my little girl. no mechanic or repair shop can figure out what is wrong.

When u turn key in ignition it doesn't always start you have to keep trying,,, windows come down by themselves when vehicle not running when u go to put it in drive it won't move out of park unless you turn off engine and restart vehicle horn goes off whenever it wants too car doesn't always unlock when you use remote or relock itself all these things happen when not in motion this all happens at different times in the last few months we have paid to get it reprogrammed.

The vehicle continuously stalls while i'm driving. i have not driven on the highway because it's a major safety issue. the horn goes off crazily sometimes while parked. and, recently while driving locally in my neighborhood the car over heated. the engine light comes on off , and sometimes i have to wait a while before i can get the car to start. i have brought it to a private mechanic on numerous occasions and he's unsure of what's going on and questions recall. i have spent thousands of dollars and it's been a frustrating journey with this journey.

Car will not start at times. cant put it in gear at times. eap light comes on without any issues. seems all electrically issues must repair brake and turn signal lights every other month

Electrical issues: first occurrence: alarm system kept going off even when the key was in ignition, only way to solve issue was to unhook horn. second occurrence: passenger side window will not roll down with power buttons on passenger side, however will roll down from driver side. although every once in a while it will out of the blue work. third occurrence: without pressing on the key fob if anything rubs up against the key fob it unlocks car just lightly brushing skin against it but pressing the unlock will not unlock it. fourth occurrence windows are rolling down on their own. at least once a day i will look outside and the windows are rolled down half way and its been 22 degree temps outside so i know for a fact they are not being rolled down intentionally, ive witnessed on one occasion them actually rolling down on their own.

While driving the horn started honking on it's own. stopped for a few hours then started blaring on it's own while car was parked and off for a solid hour. had to disconnect the battery to get it to stop until i can find the fuses. remove the fuses for a while and it stops. replace fuses and it starts doing it again. battery went dead because of not being able to hear the alarm going off when the door handle was pulled while car was locked.

My journey shuts off while driving. i will be driving and then vehicle will just shut off and i lose brakes and power steering. but vehicle will start back up.

The electrical system will shut completely down while driving the car. the wind shield wipers will come on by itself, you will not be able to turn them off. the cooling and heating system will shut down. during this time, you cannot use your power windows. every warning will come on. this car is a nightmare.

Win control module for keyless entry issue- i looked up the issue on google and their have been mamy report of win control module going out on dodge journey out of the blue. i purchased my car new in 2011 and with no warning stop working to the point i can even start my car because the antitheft light keeps activating due to the computer module.

Ignition module went out in driveway. would turn the car to off, take the key out, but the car would continue to run. you can drive the car without the key in the ignition. took it to the dealership, they had to replace the ignition module and replace two of my car keys. drove the car to the dealership without the key in the ignition.

Car was driven 180 miles, then turned off for 30 minutes, attempted to restart car. power went to the gauges, but engine did not turn over (no starting noise). jump starting the battery did not work. engine turned over after turning the fob key a 7th time. dealership replaced battery, alternator, and starter. problem still occurring when vehicle is stationary - it's an apparent random ability to start engine. mechanic is stumped. internet comments state that chrysler-brand cars have apparently been dogged with power module failures for years, which can cause airbag non-deployment, fires, stalling, unintended acceleration, headlamp problems, and damage to other components. in particular, 2007 to 2014 model year cars are said to be affected. a california lawsuit succeeded in obtaining reimbursement for tipm (fuse box) replacements, diagnosis, rental car expenses, and unnecessary repairs done to fix a non-start or stall condition as a result of a vehicle's tipm fuel pump relay failure. oddly enough, before the non-start problem occurred the vehicle's horn would engage while the car was parked (and not accidentally turned on via wireless fob). mechanic could not find reason for that, either.

The horn just randomly sounds off without any warning or the car is on. it does it all night long. it will beep while driving, in park, turned off, or on. not justification reason as to why. had to remove fuses to shut it off. it started sunday, june 23rd and has continued daily up until removing fuses this morning.

Intermittent problems with the car starting, lights will flicker and car will make clicking noise after the initial flicker. the car could take anywhere from a few minutes to 1 or 2 hours to start. while driving the car will start to shake and then shut off when slowing down or coming to a stop (red light or stop sign). the car sometimes won't start up or will immediately shut off again while in the middle of a city street. this is a safety hazard because we have toddler and soon to be newborn who will almost always be in the car.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. the contact stated that after the vehicle had been running/driven for a while, it would not restart after it was parked. the contact stated that the failure occurred for approximately two weeks. the vehicle would be unable to restart until the following day. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who suggested that it could be an electrical or key failure. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 139,553.

The horn blows on its own at any time. it does not matter if i am driving or if the car is turned off. it does this at all hours of the day/night. pushing the car alarm button or panic button does not stop it from blowing. i have my local mechanic check and he states the wiring is fine so the problem must be coming from the steering column area where you push to blow the horn. the only way to make it stop was to remove the two fuses for the horn.

My car is completely locking up. we were leaving for the day, i put my toddler in his car seat, got into the car and shut and locked the doors. i put the key in and started it, but nothing. then none of the lights would work, the key was stuck in the ignition, and the doors would not unlock. i had to climb into the backseat and unlock the door by hand to get us out. we took the battery out and up to get tested, and it tested fine. after hooking the battery back up, we were able to get the car on. next day same thing happened and i got stranded out and had to call for help. i have had the alternator replaced in 2016. after calling a shop to get it in to get it looked at, i was told that the ignition switch is a known issue in these cars and it sounded exactly how i was describing the problem. i was advised to check for a recall on my specific car, but there is not one. but after doing some research i did learn that chrysler did issue a recall on 2009-2010 dodge journeys for this specific issue. why was my car not recalled if it falls into that category?

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. the contact stated that the horn was sounding off intermittently. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified and did not assist. the dealer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

Alarm keeps going off

The car would not shut off, without warning, it shut off in the middle of traffic on a city street. it started up and i was able to drive it to the dealership i purchased it from, they had to remove the gas fuse to stop it from running.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. while driving various speeds or when the vehicle was parked, the horn would sound without warning. the dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 1000,000.

The car will not start sometimes, with no reasoning behind it. battery and alternator have both been tested as good in 3 different locations. i can turn it and it will make one click but not turn over and start. however, all the lights works, i can use power locks, radio, lights, charge port but yet the car will not turn over and start. i've read online to put the car in neutral when this happens and it will start. i have not tried it yet because it has not happened since i got it tested. each time it will usually start on it's on after turn the key on and off several times. also, the starter has been tested and is in good condition. all reasoning anyone can give me is an electrical defect. it has been happening for the last 2 months and getting more frequent.

Vehicle randomly will not start. brakes go stiff. all lights radio etc works, car just refuses to start (it is not even attempting to start) after a few hours car will start

Takata recall i am making a complaint on my 2010 dodge journey my horn goes off several times a day for no apparent reason it's been doing this for a few months. i also had to replace 2 actuators within 6 months and now its making the same clicking noise as before. these cars need to be recalled.

2010 dodge journey with 20k miles, horn goes off randomly, sitting in garage or driveway, idle, not running. key fobs are on the kitchen counter. horn beeps 1 - 3 times, not steady or uniform. i've had it at the dealership 5x, they can't find anything wrong and of course it doesn't happen there. they've replaced the wiring harness from door to dash on drivers side and put a heat shrink tube on a wire + diagnostics for $1,000. i find similar complaints on the web but no resolutions. the dodge "star" team and their customer care line have not been able to help at all. (zeigler dodge in downers grove, il.)

My vehicle was parked outside my home and the horn started blowing all by itself. this continued no matter what i tried (pressing the key fob buttons, pressing the horn manually, and starting the vehicle). we finally had to take the fuse out to get it to stop. the horn blew so much the neighbors called the police thinking that something was wrong.

This vehicle has had multiple issues. starter sounds like it's sticking at start of engine this has always been a problem since we got the vehicle. in 2018 i had to replace the battery and the alternator because the car would shut off while driving, at one point with my 5yr old daughter exiting the freeway(a very scary and extremely unsafe experience) replaced water pump and top front hose after i found puddle of fluid from coolant tank. other work done ,replaced cv joints, loud clicking when sharp turns were made and shocks and struts replaced. then all of a sudden the car shuts off while driving as it did before alternator was fixed. now i'm experiencing more electrical issues lights turning on and off on their own, ac will blow air some times and other times no air at all. the traction light comes on and car will not go over 20-30 mph. gas will not rev up. going to get car towed to the mechanic today to diagnose . seems to be a lot of people experiencing similar issues with this vehicle model. something needs to be done, will be calling chrysler and dodge dealership.

Remote starter doesn't work keypad will not open doors alarm keeps going off when opening doors when opening doors anytime

Takata recall draining battery. had the fuse box replce help the train go from dead over night to last 1.5 days before it die. changed cluster. been in two shops 2000$ worth of looking for the cause and its still unknown. it does drive if it starts no lights on. new battery alternator is ok surpertine belt and pully system is fine...currently at l v auto on west mosel road in parchment mi

When inserting the key fob in the ignition sometimes, the car makes a clicking sound & won't start. to get the car to start when this occurs, you have to put the car in neutral, put your foot on the brake & turn the key fob & it finally starts - ridiculous. the key fob was replaced when we received the recall notice.awhile ago. recall notice #11v-139. this issue is very annoying & needs to be rectified. *js

Periodically honking at driver in garage or on road. updated system software with dealership and stopped for a few months. car refused to turn over until connected to another vehicle to jump start, check engine light is on, horn started honking again.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. the contact stated that the horn stopped working without warning. the failure recurred several times. the contact called an unknown dealer and was informed that the key fob needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

My 2010 dodge journey's horn started to go off and stayed on for several minutes. this happens at any time, driving or parked with no one in it.

I almost get killed by a driver in front of me ....my dodge journey at the stop light start to honk like it was possessed...the driver get out with a gun in hand ..this pos dodge dont have a recall for this issue ....not a safety recall ...or they need to wait until someone get kill because the horn go off like crazy

Windshield wipers come on and off as they please. lights go on and off whenever. car will not turn over as it sees fit. everything electrical has gone haywire

My 2010 dodge journey started recently its not starting when i turn the key it just goes click. after a while it might start or if i put the car in neutral it might start. the horn also goes off on it's on from time to time . the vehicle was stationary the times it wouldn't start but it was both stationary and moving in traffic when horn went off.

The vehicles battery drains overnight with nothing left on. the horn goes off on its own weather the vehicles is in motion or parked. the vehicles cut off in the middle of the freeway and mechanic guy can not find anything wrong. i have seen many complaints from customers with same problem on other platforms online.

Tamara recall- my horn randomly honks while i'm driving, sitting at a red light, and while it's parked. the beep will last as long as 5-10 seconds. all times of the day. yesterday 2/15/19 replaced thepart# p/n 4692305ai power module inv# 11491 and it still honks randomly today 2/16/19. it's very dangerous now days and i live in the city. this has happened numerous times in the last month a before the repair. and numerous times 6 months ago. then i went to a dealership and had my remote tested it was fine. the honking happened a few more times then stopped until a month ago.today 2/16/19 is the start of the third series of this problem.

Occasionally car will not start. a few hours later it will start. happens 3x per month for past 6 months. also windshield wipers occasionally will not work. battery, starter, & alternator test good. suspected problem is within the tipm
