Cars horn starts beeping whenever it wants. traction control goes off whenever it wants keeping us from getting car in drive. lost power to everything when driving down highway. return line of power steering pump has ruptured 6 times in the last year. it just did it again 1-20-2019. the last rupture wasted the pump.

2010 dodge journey - won't start - electrical issues - battery is good but won't crank - tried different key - lot's of problems with these cars

Horn randomly goes off while sitting and driving. doesn't matter if the car is running or not! creates a major distraction for everyone on the road and could result in accidents and/or road rage incidents while at a traffic light or stop sign!

Passenger side heat does not work. only blows out cold air in all vents, defrost, front and feet. causes windows to fog up and bad visibility and also does not keep you warm. also at times it will not allow you to change the heat controls such as from defrost to front or feet. happens no matter if car is parked or driving. the colder out is is the worse the problem. huge safety issue living in minnesota. also serched google and there were 100's of the same complaints in dodge journeys all different years.

As a dodge owner i been having problems with the ignition or the ignition key. the car does not start immediately like you would expect it in a normal way to get it to start. starts when it feels like it. there have been times that i have to wait for more than an hour or get a jump star form a good samaritan, but it will not respond with a jump either. it has been frustrated for the last 2 years. i took it back to the place i bought it from and it was an in and out of the shop for about a couple months and the problems was never resolved. now days it just dies and i have to jump start it and works for a day, then stops again...... it is soooo frustrated. for the last couple month my car has been in and out of the shop and the problem is the same. some told me recently to check for any recalls.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. the contact stated that the electrical system was malfunctioning. the contact had to replace two batteries within the last month. also, the horn sounded unexpectedly and the windshield wipers malfunctioned. the contact removed the fuses from the horn and wipers. a diagnostic appointment was scheduled with an unknown dealer for next week. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 167,846.

Car turns off while driving and traction control light goes on. steering and breaks do not work when this happens creating an emergency situation for driver and passengers as well as the public as crash is very possible. car will not start immediately upon attempting to restart. if it does start, within 5 minutes the car will shut down again mid drive. car fails to accelerate above 1500 rpms right before car shuts off. .

Dash makes clicking noises, the horn goes off by itself, i could be driving or just sitting still, this has been going on for about 2 years, took it in twice to have it checked, they all are confused as why this is happening

November 20, 2018 \ horn for my 2010 dodge journey se has been going off by itself repeatedly over the past 2 years. happens without warning and at all times of the day and night goes off while parked in my driveway and while going down main streets and highways. length of time it goes off varies. this has drained my battery and has on occasion, has completely disabled my horn. local dodge dealer, interstate dodge, west monroe, la, said they found no problem with the horn when i took it in for service. however, it still goes off without notice. most recently today, 11\20\2018. it finally stopped when i turned the ignition to "acc". am seriously concerned the entire electrical system of my 2010 dodge journey se is at risk. this car could "die" on me in traffic.

I was picking up my kids from school and my horn kept going off. it went of all the way home i had to disconnect the battery because it wouldn't stop. even after it was turned off and parked.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. the contact stated that she had two brand new batteries placed in her vehicle; however, they continued to drain. the contact stated that the usb outlet remained powered on and the cd player would activate while the vehicle was powered off. when the contact attempted to start the vehicle, it failed to start and made an unknown noise. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who jumpstarted the vehicle. afterwards, the vehicle performed normally. the vehicle was later towed to o'daniel chrysler dodge jeep ram (5611 illinois rd, fort wayne, in 46804, (844) 391-1759) due to the fuel gauge not providing the accurate reading. the technician performed diagnostic testing of the alternator and the battery, but could not find a failure code. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 59642545. the approximate failure mileage was 149,000.

I've had my truck two years and i have replaced the starter 5 times. i just replaced it on 11-11-18. today is 11-17-18 and its going out again. i've heard that all the 2009 and 2010 are having the same problems. and the repair shops don't know whats gping on.

While driving the horn on the vehicle blows for no apparent reason. we removed the horn fuses and it did stop, but once put back in the horn blows continuously while driving.

My dodge journey will leave me stranded, in what it seems, the most inconvenient times. this issue will happen at least twice a week now. i will turn the ignition and tried to start the car, but all i'll get is a "click" sound. sometimes putting the car in neutral works, most of the time doesn't. sometimes i can't even get the car out of park, even when the key is inserted and moved to start. what it seems to work almost everytime is to wait it out. it's a huge waste of time, but i've waited anywhere from 18 minutes up to 1 hour and 34 minutes. i've taken the suv on multiple occasions to the dealership and spend more than $2,000 in apparent fixes that doesn't do anything. i've done recalls for the ignition and the wire harness, as well as replacing the battery (twice), starter (three times) and the neutral safety position switch (once). called dodge on multiple occasions, but their response is that they don't know what's causing this problem and that apparently there's not enough complaints about this issue. this is the vehicle my wife uses to go to work and take the kids around. i've read that some people, their vehicles, just stopped working in the middle of the street while they were driving. super unsafe and dodge doesn't want to take responsibility for their malfunction.

Key can be turned off, and out, but will not kill the engine, or lights. ignition switch module replacement through dealer, and reprogramming is the only way to fix it. seen a recall for this problem but dealer tells me my car is not on the list. i turn my car off pull the key out, and i am still able to drive my car as if the key was in it.

My dodge is doing this, dealership won't fix it, my vin shows no recall. my journey does this exactly like below. now have to pull out fuel pump fuse, disconnect battery just to get the car to shut off.......... 2010 journey ignition switch may turn off posted 2015-05-26 nhtsa has assigned this recall id #14v373000. there are 722,705 vehicles affected. recall summary this defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. the key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. chrysler group llc (chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2009-2010 dodge journey vehicles manufactured june 29, 2007, to june 17, 2010, and 2008-2010 dodge grand caravan and chrysler town and country vehicles manufactured january 26, 2007, to june 17, 2010. road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine. the problem if the ignition key inadvertently moves into the off or accessory position, the engine will turn off, which will then depower various key safety systems including but not limited to air bags, power steering, and power braking. loss of functionality of these systems may increase the risk of crash and/or increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Starting issues

It started with a window not going up, then the electrical wires to the front left headliggt burned out and melted the bulb connector. bulb connector was replaced and it happened again. keyless entry fobs stopped working, batteries were changed and fobs were tested but they still don't work. alarm goes off at random times and takes us starting and moving the car 50 feet to turn it off. the other night the car horn went off in the middle of the night randomly, about 12 times. now the hornnis going off as we drive for no reason. this car ckearly has electrical issues. electrical parts keep burning out causing me to change them for reinspection time by the state.

About a week ago my horn started going off while i was driving to work in the morning it was so out of the blue that i didn't even realize it was me right away, i was able to pull of the road, tapped the horn a couple of times thinking it might have just got stuck after a couple minutes it just stopped i thought it was just a one time freak incident so i paid it no mind until 4am this morning while it was parked in the driveway once again my horn just start going again for like 3 or 4 minutes then it would stopped and start again it did this about 4 times waking my neighbors. when the sun came up i was finally able to figure out which fuses to pull to disconnect the horn and while searching to find this out i saw that many other dodge journey owners have had the same problem. there need to be some kind of recall i can't drive without a horn thats a safety hazard but with the world we live in now i also can't have a horn just going off at any time in traffic some people might think you are blowing at them. this is a issue dodge needs to address and fix.

While driving on interstate 5 and some city streets the ignition will turn off after hitting small bumps. ignition does restart by itself while driving down the road.

My car won't start intermittently and often dies and often in a dangerous intersection. i have my grandchildren with me and it is very dangerous when the care suddenly dies with no warning in the middle of an intersection. also, i can turn the car off and it may or may not start, then suddenness for no reason starts. this concerns me as i live in austin texas and i am concerned about being on a toll or freeway and having an accident because the care suddenly dies. we have checked everything and according to the hundreds of forums the tipm is the problem, but dodge refuses to fix or recall this problem even though it is happening to so many folks. these cars are often used to haul children around and my concern is that one day soon someone is going to be killed due to this problem.

'takata recall' when i put my key in and try to turn over my vehicle it will not start. it appears that the ignition switch is malfunctioning . and i've been stuck on the side of the road with two kids and it's been happening for months and now i'm stuck on the side of the road, because normally it would turn over after a few tries but now it won't turn at all

My car has an intermittent problem with starting. i have only had this vehicle for 6 weeks and it has failed to start on many different occassions. i have had it towed to the dealership two separate times and they tell me they don't know what's wrong with it. i figured out that when my car won't start, while in park, i can turn the key to the on position and move the shifter into neutral. it starts at this point. each time that my vehicle has failed to start, it has been in park in my driveway, on a slight incline.

Car intermittently will not start no error code comes up. dealership has replaced the battery, alternator, and starter and the issue is still happening. i've taken it to several mechanics and they are unable to resolve. when trying to start the car it only clicks and won't start. this is when vehicle is stationary and its been going on for months.

The car turns off in the middle of driving, one time i was stopped at a red light second time making a right turn. lose power steering can't turn the wheel this has happened twice now in the last two months. this is very dangerous. no warning no indicators come on. feel very unsafe!

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. while driving 25 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. when the vehicle was turned off and restarted, it resumed normal operation. the contact stated that the failure recurred multiple times. the vehicle was taken multiple times to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. in addition, two weeks prior to the failure, the horn was beeping independently while the vehicle was parked. the contact also stated that the vehicle was overheating. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was notified and stated that the vin was not included in a recall. the vehicle was currently at an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000. the vin was not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. the contact stated that the horn was sounding without being pressed. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the local dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified and referred the contact to nhtsa. the failure mileage was 96,000.

Horn has been going off randomly. it has gone off while sitting, locked and unlocked, parked in the driveway as well as in the garage. it has gone off in all types of weather, hot, cold and rain or shine. it has also gone off while driving. i have look for and not seen any lights or indicators flashing or going off while the horn was honking and have only been able to stop it by removing the fuses. i reinstall the fuses and it may go a day, a week or more before it does it again. sam leman chrysler jeep ram fiat morton has been very helpful in trying to repair this issue but it is getting very costly. recently tried to allow a relative to take a driving test to obtain their drivers license but the car will not pass the safety inspection without a horn. driving without a horn is a safety issue and is an issue on numerous chrysler cars and in my opinion chrysler needs to resolve this issue. at this time i put the fuses in when we drive it hoping the horn will not go off while driving and then remove the fuses when we park it.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. the contact stated that the push to start ignition switch failed to start the vehicle and an abnormal clicking noise was present. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the local dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was approximately 97,500.

My 2010 dodge joruneys horn goes off all on its own. when its parked, in the middle of the night and also when i am driving. sometimes it will go on for a few minutes to where i have to pull the fuses to get it to stop. also the car wont always start, i have to push the brake and put it in n in order to get it to start. there are times jm at a redlight or in traffic and it will just shut off and not turn back on. it clicks but will not start. sometimes it takes multiple times to get it to start. ive taken it to the shop to try to get all this fixed and they cant seem to find the cause of eaither problem. its embarassing when your driving down the road and your horn starts beeping and people in front of you start getting mad. also dangerous when it just shuts off and wont start back up.

My vehicle's horn sounds intermittently while stationary, in motion and whether the engine is running or not. it sounds on city streets as well as highways. i had my vehicle in the dealership sevice 4 times for this issue. a repair was attempted to change the fusebox but that didn't resolve the issue. i took it back to the dealership after the failed repair and i was told they couldn't recreate the issue so there was no service they could provide. the blowing has created incidents of road rage while i was driving and on a separate incident startled a driver who was waiting for pedestrian to cross the street causing them to almost hit the pedestrian because my car strarted blowing violently at them. this issue is a risk to my and my family's safety. i contacted chrysler service center and was also told the dealership had to be able to recreate the issue. it's a timing issue and the vehclie's malfunction is unpredictable. i need help resolving this safety hazzard. i have been told that warped clock springs may be the issue but it is unknown to me.

My 2010 dodge journey sxt is experiencing major electrical problems due to the horn honking on it's own as if it were possessed! it occurs while driving as well as when parked overnight. i had it serviced several months ago when problem started and dealer changed clock spring stating it was fixed. well the problem reoccured and now it has drained the battery completely dead several time to the point of needing a new battery. after jump starting car and leaving it idle for 30 min. to charge system i tried to drive it in for service but the car wouldn't shift correctly, making it impossible to drive to service station. this is a dangerous problem that i have never experienced with any other vehicle i've owned. this is also a common occurrence among thousands of dodge journey owners found on internet tech assist sights. the dodge manufacturer service rep. advised me to file a complaint due to extended coverage being out of date. please advise on what my legal options are here in new york.

Have had intermittent starting issues as i have found do many other owners of this vehicle. turn key fob and no start. starter and battery have been changed. many similar complaints online. i was told by mechanic until it is no start at all, dealer able to duplicated or check engine light illuminates for code nothing they can be done. been dealing with this issue intermittently for 3 years.

Horn starts sounding when car is parked in the garage and engine is off. this has happened 3 or more times over the last 2 weeks.

Came out from the store and tried to start my car and it wouldn't start. the engine won't even crank. it is apparently a known issue that the manufacturer refuses to do a recall for.

On numerous occasions, this car will not start. when turning the key it will click but not turn over. i have had if into the mechanics several times, they have tested the starter, had the spark plugs changed, including the wires. still intermittently will not start. especially if it's hot out or car is hot. some times it takes multiple turns of the fob to turn over engine. i have read car gurus forums and hundreds complain of this same issue. it does sometimes start if you depress brake pedal then put it in neutral position then turn key and it will start. this has been going on now for about 2 yrs and no mechanic can seem to figure out the issue. i had shut my vehicle off the other day while waiting for a long train to pass at a crossing, as soon as the train passed and was able to cross over tracks, the dodge journey would not restart, was almost rear ended from cars behind me. took multiple attempts to start this vehicle. there is clearly an outstanding ignition issue with this vehicle. when i contacted dodge dealership they also were aware of this intermittent issue but had no solution. someone needs to look at this issue as a serious problem. a rear end collision can cause airbags to deploy as well causing injuries, all because your car won't restart if you turn ignition off due to traffic delays or train crossings.

The horn blows by itself, while driving and while sitting in the garage unoccupied. it has shut off while driving in heavy traffic and i had to put it in neutral to restart it. the aur bag light has come on and apparently in the words of my mechanic "i can't find anything wrong with it". the air and heat stopped working in the back of the vehicle last year. the check engine light goes on and off. i've had it towed to the shop twice because it would not start, just to be told it cranked right up once at the shop and again "i can't find anything wrong with it". it doesn't accelerate like it's supposed to when taking off, jerks and lags, and once accelerated it continues to jerk and lag.

Horn randomly honks (while in motion and while parked turned off), doors lock/unlock randomly (while parked) and the headlights and flashers go on and off (while parked). i pulled the fuse from the horn so that it doesn't honk while driving down the road or being parked in my garage overnight. recently i have replaced the alternator and battery and the vehicle will not start in the morning after sitting all night long. i drive the vehicle to work park it and when i get ready to leave the office for the day the vehicle is dead once again. something is draining the battery...we have nothing plugged into any outlets or cigarette lighters inside the vehicle. even double checked that all interior lights are off.

Car continuously honks on its own. while driving and while off

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. while driving, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was restarted and operated normally. the dealer was not contacted for diagnostic testing or repairs. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 131,976.

1st for no reason the horn goes off, i had to pull the fusees so i can keep my neighbors i'm driving around with no horn at this time. 2nd heater core was only heating one side of the car, 3rd passenger seat belt locks up the moment car starts.

Horn/alarm goes off randomly and intermittently. no pattern to the beeping. nothing causes it- happens while the car is locked, unlocked, parked, driving. cannot be replicated at the dealer. had to pull the fuses, now i have no horn. has been happening for several years. multiple trips to the dealership with no resolution.

Takata recall randomly honks while vehicle is off and while the vehicle is being driven. issue has been everyday for a week now. vehicle has approx. 49,000 miles. it has randomly honked on city streets as well as highways.

Takata recall- i have been having a problem for awhile with my vehicle. the battery will just randomly go dead. i can jump it off and will immediately start up. i have had the battery an alternator checked and they are fine. it will run just fine for a few days and the it will go dead again. i have had it to the dealership with this problem and they can not dind the problem. this has been very frustrating since i find myself stranded quite often. i have made another appt. with the dealership and i am hoping that they can find the problem this time.

Air bag light is on car electrical system malfunctions engine starts when it wants to. i've already replaced the battery and starter

Horn began to randomly honk while off, unoccupied. continued to randomly honk when driven also.

I have a 2010 dodge journey 81,000 miles & had it about 1 year. over the past 6 months i have bought 6 batteries because my car would fail to start. my front wipers would randomly move when the care was parked and no one in it then my back wipers would do the same. the dodge ram light on my dashboard would come on randomly when the care was parked and key was not in the ignition. finally took it to the dodge dealership in feb, they replaced the battery, kept the care for over a week, called me and stated that the car had a battery drainage problem but when on the diagnostic test, the problem wouldn't show its face long enough for the mechanic to track down the problem. they also stated the reason my horn didn't work was because someone took out the fuse. when they put the fuse back in, my horn would randomly go off no matter if it was parked or if i was driving it. i took the car back home and sure enough, less than a week later, same issue. they kept the car for another 2 weeks, same outcome! could not track down the issue. a week after i got the car back, i was driving and as i pressed the gas, my car wouldn't accelerate!! i was in 5pm traffic with 2 kids, almost caused a wreck trying to get over to a parking lot. my steering wheel would hardly move! had to have the car towed again to the dodge dealership. i have asked again and again if it was the tipm but i get nowhere!!!! this car is possessed and dodge seems to not care enough to fix the problem or find it for that matter. i dont feel safe driving it (i cant at the moment because they have to fix the fuel pump which is ran by what....you guessed it the tipm)! i never know if the car is going to start from moment to moment nor do i know if im going to be stranded on the side of the road with my children.again! a car should not have this may issues and the dealership not knowing or acknowledging the problem!

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. the contact attempted to start the vehicle, but it failed to start. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to classic cadillac (8470 tyler blvd, mentor, oh 44060) where it was diagnosed that the battery was faulty and needed replacement. the battery was replaced, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was then taken to an unknown dodge dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be diagnosed. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was unknown.

The horn honks on it's own and will not shut off. the horn will start to honk while driving.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge journey. while operating the vehicle, the horn erroneously activated. the contact indicated that the failure was intermittent and would randomly occur. the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer and local dealer were not notified. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 80,000.
