We have classified the 497 complaints from 2010 Dodge Journey about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
My car picks when it wants to crank. sometimes it cranks by key manually and other times i walk outside to take the trash out, key no where near me, the truck is running. while driving the vehicle would just lose power. the lights on the dash would flicker on and off. the cars alarm would just randomly go off all hours of the night and day. for a full year no one could tell me what the problem was. the power kept draining from the battery even after i purchased an almost $200 battery. i took it to precision tune for a diagnostic test, after two days they still couldn't find a problem and finally on day three i call to find out it was the tipm, a part that's over $1000. well this part is on back order and has been since january with dodge. there is no estimated date of when they'll restock and there is almost 400 people in front of me. with this many problems this part should be recalled.
Made a left hand turn and suddenly the air conditioner, radio, lights, windows stopped working. drove to a lot and pulled over and everything came back on. then move the steering wheel and everything shut off again. turned the car off and everything came back and has worked fine so far. however, the car wouldn't start earlier when turned on. had to start the car 3 times before it came on.
Unable to start car. no power whatsoever, however lights flashed. could not lock car. car parked in a friends driveway. thought it could be the ignition switch. have invoice from jim browne jeep & dodge, tampa, fl replacing the ignition switch (unable to scan).

Horn is honking at random on 2010 dodge journey. this has happened on the highway 55+ mph, streets 10+ mph, and while parked in my driveway. the local dodge dealership has upgraded software & issued a new key fob to me for more than $500 in fees but the issue has not been resolved. the horn honking is a safety issue at stop lights and in traffic as i am causing drivers around me to be alarmed for no reason. i have also had issues with windows & door locks activating at random. the door lock and window issues seem to have been resolved with the new key fob but the horn is still honking.

We cannot shift our car out of "park" while the car is on. instead we have to take these steps: insert keys into ignition, then slightly turn to the right (but not turning the car on) as the electric system turns on, then shift out of "park" and into "neutral," and then while in "neutral" turn the car to the right until it turns on and is ready for driving, then shift into "drive," all of this while my foot is on the "brake." our esp & bas lights are on every minute the car is on, and above these is a lit up picture of a car w/ squiggly lines below it. we have taken the car to autozone, o'reilly's auto parts, interstate all battery center, and wal-mart, and had the car hooked up to their system that ready codes/errors and determines what is wrong with the car. every single place could not get a reading that indicated any reason for the lights being on. in fact, all results kept coming back as, "no errors found." when we called to explain this to the chrysler jeep dodge ram dealership, they could not tell us any reason as to why these light would be on, and advised that it would cost $100 to hook up to their error-reading system. i do not want to do this because i have already tried at several places. this is another way for the dealership to reel me in and try to scam money out of me and then when i don't have thousands to constantly drop on this piece of crap, they charge me the diagnostic fee and i leave with more problems than i came with. these dealerships are a scam, and because i'm female, they try to get me to pay for every repair possible, claiming they are critical repairs. we just bought this car last year, & we were not offered an extended warranty. i know why now. 1 month after driving it off the lot, problems began & thousands of dollars later, we still have non-stop problems. our car is worth half of what we paid for it 1 yr ago. now there's this!

1. while parked unlocked at friend's home, car automatically locked doors. keys were inside the vehicle at the time and no one was in the vehicle. required spare set be brought to open the doors. 2. while parked at home, horn started randomly sounding at 1:30 am. beeping was random pattern of short and long beeps lasting from a few seconds to a minute and incidents were separated anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes. no lights flashed as they would for security system. checked vehicle for signs it had been disturbed, but saw no indication. after an hour, made decision to remove fuses for horn. while doing so, the horn sounded. keys were inside the house at that time and no one was near them, so not result of anyone touching them. then, approximately 30 minutes later, horn started sounding again, even though fuses were pulled. tried to remote start car to make it stop, but wouldn't operate. then tried to manually start car, but would not operate. gave up, apologized to the neighbors (after 3 am by now) and went back to bed. car did not beep anymore that night. the next morning, had to reset computer to get car to start. 3. while driving to work that day, car randomly started beeping. no contact was made with the horn at that time. concerned because this is distracting to me and other drivers. also, having it sound in the middle of the night is not good for me or the neighbors. saw that this seems to be a somewhat common problem that defies simple repairs and is related to tipm. dealer and manufacturer contacted.
