While driving, my powers steering randomly turns off ans is not reestablished until the car is put in park amd restarted. this has happened at low and high speeds. it has happened on multiple occasions over the last 4 years.
I was driving and my power steering went out making it extremely difficult to turn the wheel. i had to pull over turn the car off and the problem stopped for a few miles then happened again. my steering wheel is now shaking and pulling to one side without being touched. this problem has happened on both city streets and highways, as well as when i start the car.
Electrical power steering randomly gives out while driving the car making it extremely difficult to control car and make turns. steering wheel shakes a lot when driving or parked. i checked online and malibu's 2006-2007 have a recall for the same issue. i called chevy service and was told there was no recall for my car with my vin.
The power steering will occasionally not work when you start the car but if you turn it off and start it up again it will work. i'll occasionally get a burning smell through my vents and my steering wheel will periodically shake as well.. i recently bout new tires over the summer and it stopped happening so i thought nothing of it but after washing my car the other day it started doing it again

Popping feeling and sound in steering wheel while driving and turning.
Driving and the steering got kind of jerky, car wanted to wander and made it hard to drive straight, then above the radio it displayed "power steering" does this on and off wherever you're driving.

The electric power steering has gone out in my car. it has the exact same symptoms as other 2007 malibus that have been recalled, and it is even the same year model as other malibus that have been recalled. however, my car isn't a part of the recall. i'd appreciate it if someone could let me know why.
General motors llc (gm) is recalling certain model year 2006-2007 chevrolet malibu and malibu maxx vehicles manufactured april 1, 2006, to june 30, 2006, and 2006-2007 pontiac g6 vehicles manufactured april 18, 2006, to june 30, 2006. in the affected vehicles, there may be a sudden loss of electric power steering (eps) assist that could occur at any time while driving. consequence if power steering assist is lost, greater driver effort would be required to steer the vehicle at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.

My car will shake back and forth intermittently while driving. when i stop and park, it may also continue to do this. this happens regardless of the road that i am driving on and regardless if i am on highways or city roads. certain times, the steering wheel will jerk on its own one way or the other and i have to overcorrect the jerking to ensure that i stay on the road.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet malibu. while driving 30-35 mph, the power steering failed without warning and the steering wheel would not turn. the contact pulled the vehicle over onto the side of the road, turned the engine off, and waited a while. the contact restarted the engine and was able to drive safely home. on another occasion, the steering wheel shook uncontrollably when the engine was started and the power steering warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that a power steering sensor needed to be installed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and verified that a power steering sensor was needed. the dealer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 162,000.
When i was turning the steering locked up. there was a recall on this but it says that my vehicle is not one of them.
