I don't understand regarding the airbag recalls. i just heard that toyota has recalled more cars and yet i am being told it still is a regional recall. i have a 2005 corolla and i see it on lists of recalled cars and yet because i don't live in the region my car is not included. if there is a danger, why doesn't nhtsa just order the auto manufacturers to recall everything? what's going on?

I received a safety recall from toyota on my car. the safety recall was for the front passenger air bag inflator assembly. the notice i received indicated to take the vehicle into the dealer & they would replace the inflator assembly. my daughter has the car at college & took it into the dealer for the safety recall. the toyota dealer did not replace the inflator assembly but instead turned off the air bag & put a sticker on the dashboard that no one could ride in the front seat. while this takes care of toyota's liability it does not solve the problem with my car. the dealer mentioned that toyota was not going to replace the part at all. i spoke to toyota & they said that they would eventually replace the part but did not know when. *tr

Takata recall my son hit by inflated driver side air bag on 18th dec2014 at university of houston resulted due to passenger side tire hit the curb right side of road curb . this may happen due to passenger side front tire blew after hitting the curb ( guess) because car passenger end strut touched the curb and got damaged . it also damaged the fire wall . the car was with normal in campus speed 25 mph . tires were new & had replaced just three months before accident . police called 911 & he has been transported to st. joseph hospital , downtown - houston due to sever injuries due to air bag inflate . i was shocked due to deep cut on his forehead , few facial cuts & fractured nose . i called toyota customer center in first week on jan 2015 to inform about air bag injury & investigate probable cause , but they denied and told me such injury can take place due air bag impact . my intention was to avoid such injuries to all others but no positive response i received from toyota . in 1st week of july 2017 , i received the notice about recall of air bag at my previous resident address . after reading the notice , i got shocked because of toyota's stand in 2015 . i called toyota & asked them to investigate the matter but the case manger informed that the recall is associated with passenger side air bag & nothing to do driver side air bag . attached case number & letter for your reference . i haven't heard back from them , need to resolve the issue . car is still running without driver end air bag .

I have received notice from toyota that my vehicle may be unsafe due to the installation of a defective air bag. i called the dealership where i purchased the vehicle to schedule service so as to avoid any accident or injury to myself, my family, or others. i was informed today that no dealership in my area (including competitor dealerships such as honda) have been set up to deal with this process until the end of january to receive any service or to take any of the recommended steps in the advisory letter. i am registering this complaint to ensure that if any accident or injury occurs as a result of the defect before i can receive the appropriate service, that toyota cannot claim i did not respond in a timely or appropriate manner. i am deeply disappointed by this response and hope that the nhtsa will take steps to ensure that something like this does not occur in future. i consider the delay to be unacceptable and adding to the anxiety of knowing that this risk may occur. *tr

My light airbag just come on i don't know why.... i never have an accident on my car.... is this is normal? *tr

Dealer doesn't have part and won't order part unless i bring the car in first and have air bag disconnected on passenger side. explained i don't carry passenger's and don't need this done, just get the part and i will bring car in. talked to toyota and that's the conditions set by them to get part replaced. it will cost me at least a full day by going twice to get part replaced as dealer is an hour away from me. i hope it's not the case but it feels as if the manufacturer is deliberately making it more difficult to have defective part replaced to prevent them from paying more claims? *tr

Washington, d.c. - the national highway traffic safety administration urges owners of certain toyota, honda, mazda, bmw, nissan, mitsubishi, subaru, chrysler, ford and general motors vehicles to act immediately on recall notices to replace defective takata airbags... the message comes with urgency, especially for owners of vehicles affected by regional recalls in the following areas: florida, puerto rico, limited areas near the gulf of mexico in texas, alabama, mississippi, georgia, and louisiana..., [case#:[xxx]] the case # is the record of my call to and conversation with the recall division of toyota usa. i have requested of toyota corporation that they furnish me with the manufacturer information for the airbags installed in my corolla at manufacture. the reason why i requested this information should be apparent from your site as well as from the hearings in congress and the response from takata. toyota corporation told me on the telephone that they could not give me that information. . i find it interesting that toyota can issue product recalls by vin numbers; but can not find manufacturing information using my vin number. is there any way to require a car manufacturer to supply parts information by manufacturer's name? having worked in a manufacturing environment, i do know that such information is required to be kept by us manufacturing. i suspect that toyota usa has access to such information. since nhtsa regulates highway safety and i think correctly, believes that tanaka should recall all airbags in the affected years, i am hoping that you can help me to receive my airbag information since you list 2005 toyota corolla as affected in the recall in high moisture us states and territories. any weather check of the past two years for n.c. should demonstrate that we are a high moisture location. *js information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)
