I received a letter from toyota that my passenger side air bag needed to be replaced. i called the dealer and made an appointment. i was told it would take about an hour and a half to complete the work. 20 min. later i was told that the work would not be done because i didn't live in an area that needed a new airbag. i asked why i got the letter then. i was told they would contact toyota and give me an answer within 24 hours. i did not hear from them. this last week i got a call from toyota to tell me that i needed to take my car in to a dealer and have the passenger side airbag replaced. i told the person what had happened before. she assured me that this time the work would be done. she connected me to the dealer and i made the appointment. i took the car in. they called me and told me they needed the car for a longer time due to some communication problems with toyota. i picked up my car after the service department had closed. i called the next day and asked why the work hadn't been done. they said they didn't have the part needed to do the replacement. they have had my car twice for the same recall and i still don't have the problem taken care of. i feel they should not have made an appointment if they did not have the part. i feel that they are giving me the run around and have no intention of replacing the airbag. *tr

Sir, i bought a new toyota le year 2005 in maryland and since the beginning i've always brought my car for maintenance to the same dealership to which i was very pleased about it. on monday, november 17th, 2014 my son was driving our car southbound in lane 2 of georgia avenue when another driver pulled out of a secondary road of the home depot parking lot and went directly into lane 2 in front of our car. my son was unable to avoid the other driver and struck his car in the rear causing little damage for the drivers car. the impact caused a lot of damage in the front end of our car. my son did not suffer a fracture or a severe injury but he got a cervical sprain, in addition to developing back pain, left knee pain. the impact was so bad that our car was deemed a total loss. but interestingly, the air bags did not deploy at all! if the airbags were defective as it has been for other toyota cars then i may have had a defective product that was supposed to be fixed or replaced so they would have worked properly in case of an accident that's why we trust in the manufacturer and in the written instructions in the manual. ..updated 12/29/14 *bf *tr

I brought my 2005 toyota corolla into a toyota dealership in florida in regards to airbag recall. the service department told me my car was not under recall and would not put a new airbag in. toyota knew my car contained a defective engine control module months before it failed i was charged about 800 dollars to repair it.a safety recall was finally issued and i eventually was refunded the money but not the cost of diagnosing the failure of the part. i am hoping my airbags are not defective as loss of life is already known to occur with defective airbags. *tr

a recall was made on a passage safety air bag the car was take to the dealer they disconnect the passage air bag and up to today no bag have been replace driving with out passage air bag. *tr

I was sent a letter from toyota notifying me that my 2005 toyota corolla s is part of the tekata air bag inflator module recall i was instructed to take my car in to the local dealer to get this issue fixed. the toyota fix which was not a fix at all was to disable my front passenger air bag and hang a warning sign not to have anyone ride in the front passenger seat. it has been nearly three months that i have not been able to use my front passenger seat. i feel three months is more than long enough to have this issue resolved. i only own one car and need the front passenger seat to provide transportation for my family. i have called both toyota corporate and the local dealer and not getting any resolution. *tr

The vehicle was bought brand new for no apparent reason, the air bag light came on. [the onboard computer was recalled and changed out by the dealer several years ago, if relevant] [the cigarette lighter socket never worked from day 1, but i don't smoke so it did not matter] otherwise, very happy with the performance of this vehicle. *tr

My 19 year old was driving back to college, the car in front of her stopped short to avoid another crash, she reared ended the car at 47 miles an hour. none of the air bags deployed. she was unconscious for 20 minutes, suffered a concussion. i contacted toyota they said the air bag was not recalled, asked to conduct a data analysis: stating she swerved to the right and that the dtc light was on and that we "had ample time to have taken the vehicle to a repair shop to have the problem addressed" . we had the car inspected a few days prior to this accident and there was no indication of any lights on the dash. i believe toyota is wrong in accusing us on the problem. i believe they are covering up their problem. my daughter is a college athlete and is unable to participate due to this issue, she is still suffering and to have toyota state this was our problem is wrong. we bought this car for her because we believe it was safe. you don't let your children drive a bike without a helmet and your don't let your college age students drive a car with air bag lights indicating that they need service. ..updated 12/29/14*bf

I do not know, but when i started the car the airbag light stay on. *tr

The airbag light comes on out of nowhere and for no reason. stayed on ever since. i did nothing and no accident what so ever. took the vehicle to toyota grapevine texas and they told me that the spiral cable went wrong. had it tested by another mechanic and found it no problem at all. toyota has recalled corolla for every model between 2000 to 2008 but 2005 corolla on the airbag issue. and based on my experience and what i have researched online, i think a recall for the airbag issue of 2005 corolla is due. *tr

Takata airbag i do not own this car anymore. i have notified toyota of this several times. i don't know what else to do. they keep telling me that they will update their records, but i keep getting notices. how do i stop this?

I was driving to work and on my way i heard this "click click" sound coming from the driver side dashboard. i didn't know what it was so and didn't see anything. roughly about three or four more days go by and the annoying clicking started again and then one of the icon on the dashboard lights up. i opened the glove box to get out the manual. the manual had shown that it was the airbag light. i figured since i was due for a oil change at the dealership that would ask them about that light. on august 2, 2013 i went to the dealership to get the oil change. they told me that the lighted icon was about the airbag and said that it needed to be replaced. i asked "how come i need to replace a airbag that i haven't been used yet?" they said that spiral cable had a failure and that it needed to be replaced before i got a inspection sticker or else my car will fail the inspection. i asked the man if it was part of a recall because it didn't sound right to me that a airbag will need replacing even if it hasn't been used. they said no. so i made a appointment for august 24, 2013. i paid $380.00 for the repair of a spiral cable. i wasn't happy at all. so now july 20, 2015 i get a recall notice about replacing the airbag and which i paid $380.00 for back in 2013. my first question how do or who do i get my refund for replacing a defected airbag? can you please direct me to the proper place to make a claim because i think that it's unfair for me to loose out on $380. i am very upset because i work very hard to save money. thank you for your time. *tr

My daughter was driving south at 60mph. second car, going north, attempted to make a left turn on to side road directly in front of me. barely had time to apply brakes before impact with his right rear. my daughter's car had extensive front end damage. police were called. other driver cited. insurance company said car totaled. not a single air bag inflated, in spite of front end impact. i reported all of this to toyota and sent them pictures of the car but they seemed uninterested. *tr

. . to whom it may concern. a relative of mine received a recall letter on my behalf from toyota for my vehicle. my relative said he sent it to me by mail. i contacted toyota really concerned because out of nowhere my air bag light came on, my cruise control stopped working and horn. i have had a recall before which was serviced in august of 2011. i decided to contact toyota about the letter and if it was okay to take in car without letter. they ran my vin# and stated that the recall for my car has been serviced. i asked why i received a letter of recall and why out of nowhere my car is starting to have some malfunctions that can be a risk to my life. i no longer feel safe in this vehicle. the rep at toyota said to go in to service center-but i do not have the money to pay out of pocket. i need help and would like this resolved for the safety of my family and my vehicle. *tr

The car pops out the 6th gear. it is also harsh when shifting gears, brakes have noise, air bags sign off.the car has shut off while driving and front suspension sounds horrible. *tr

We were east-bound on a residential street when a west-bound vehicle made a left turn immediately in front of us, across our lane. i brake, but collided with the side of the vehicle. the other driver was unhurt and his vehicle was still drivable. our airbags deployed. my wife, who is 63 inches, 110 lbs, had her ribs cracked by the force of the airbag hitting her in the chest. her seat was locked in the upright position at maximum distance from the airbag; her seatbelt was on and properly worn. she was not holding anything in her hands or on her lap. the speed of the impact was low enough that neither of us even suffered serious bruising from the seatbelts. the airbag was the sole source of her physical injuries resulting from the accident. *tr

We had an automobile accident on august 30, 2012 in bayamon, puerto rico between 11:15 to 11:30 pm. we received a first impact on the left back door of the car and another in the front (bumper) of the car, because the car impact made it go round and impact a fence. unfortunately, the airbags never opened, so we received injuries. *tr updated ivoq 11/21/12

I was driving 30 mph when the vehicle in front of me, going 30 mph as well, suddenly switches onto the left lane without using their turning signals in effort to avoid the parked car in front of them, leaving me little time to brake before crashing into the car. i drive a toyota corolla 2005 and the hood was completely bent forward along with the front sides making it hard to open the front doors, cracked head lights, bumper slightly detached, and a broken radiator. the air bags did not launch at all even though the impact required it. i was driving with a passenger who hurt their knee and i'm dealing with neck and back problems. *js

I was part of an accident where the automobile i was in crashed into the car in front of us. we were going at a high enough speed where the air bags should have deployed but did not for a 2005 toyota corolla le. the car was totaled but yet, no air bags deployed. *tr

On november 12, 2009, my passenger and i were rear-ended at approximately 35 mph when we were stopped, waiting for someone to make a left. the airbag warning said that the airbags deployed, but they didn't and the airbag warning had to be re-calibrated to work properly. on november, 24, 2010, we were stopped, and rear-ended, and the same thing happened. on september 20, 2011, a lady stopped very suddenly in front of me. i could not stop quick enough, and rear-ended her. i was the only person in my corolla ce. the car was totaled, and there was enough force that a back seat popped down without me releasing it (it's a pop-down back seat from the trunk). yet, no airbags deployed. i had a headache for three days, my neck and shoulders still hurt, and my left thigh is still tender. when i paid for the vehicle and subsequent repairs, all parts should have worked including the airbags. that i am writing to you is by g-d's grace, not toyota's. i think there should have been a massive recall, and i was never informed, but i know that there was one from searching the internet. *tr

Tl* the contact owns 2005 toyota corolla. the contact stated that the front passenger air bag would not engage when the passenger seat was occupied with a person weighing over forty pounds. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the ecm was replaced yet the failure persisted after the repair. the failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

I was recently ran off the road and ended up going through trees which caused sever front end damage/ car considered a total loss. my 2005 toyota air bags did not deploy. *tr
