Mazda CX-5 Coolant Leak Problems

Identifying Coolant Loss in Mazda CX-5

Here are the signs that your Mazda CX-5 has lost coolant or that coolant loss is still occurring, or your coolant reservoir is already empty:

• The level of the expansion tank is at or below the "MIN" mark.
• Colored spots/puddles at the vehicle's parking spot (below the engine).
• The engine overheats (engine temperature > 194 degrees Fahrenheit).
• White smoke from the exhaust (coolant is burning).
• Wet spots in the engine compartment.
• Engine oil diluted by coolant (visible through different color/viscosity).

Note: During summer temperatures, condensation often forms under your vehicle, which should not be confused with coolant.

Can I Continue Driving the Mazda CX-5 Despite Coolant Loss?

If the coolant reservoir level indicator of your Mazda CX-5 is beyond the specified minimum & other previously listed symptoms occur, you must stop the vehicle immediately.

If you must continue driving in any case, you should immediately refill the coolant (see instructions below) to prevent damage to the engine or further problems with the Mazda CX-5.

• Leaks in the expansion tank.
• Leaky/defective water pump system.
• Leaky/damaged cylinder head gasket.
