Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2010 Ford Fusion

The cars stalls while accelerating. the first time it happened was while driving on the expressway 8 months ago at 50mph . the car all of the sudden stopped accelerating a wrench icon appeared and had to pull over to the shoulder, turn the ignition off and the car started and was able to drive off with no problems. the second time was while driving on street at 25mph, had to repeat the process. on 6/25 it happened again after being stopped on a traffic light and turned left accelerated and car stalled again at 50mph had to pull over once again. this time the engine light appear. i had to drive 5 miles tapping the gas pedal to prevent the car from stalling. after that i was not able to reproduce the problem. *tr

June 22nd driving with my family to church along major highway at a rate of 60-62 mph the vehicle just went limp and i was barely able to pull the car over into the emergency lane. the car behind slammed its brake and horn. wrench light came on. i turned off car ignition and waited a couple of minutes. needed time to compose myself after almost being struck from behind. started the vehicle and wrench light was off. placed my emergency flashers on and drove very slowly off the next highway exit. left car in commuter lot and called my wife to pick me up in the dependable honda. this vehicle has placed my family's lives in a unsafe position. i will never trust driving it. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated while driving 40 mph the vehicle failed to accelerate. the contact turned the vehicle off and restarted it; the vehicle began to operate as designed. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 77,000.

I was driving no faster than 25mph this afternoon and all of a sudden, it felt as though my car was about to stall, and accelerating made the rpms go up, but the car wouldn't move. i pulled over, and felt my car shudder, so i turned it off. after about 30 seconds, i restarted, the restart was iffy, but the car finally was good for the last mile of my journey. fast forward about 7 hours, coming home from dinner, and same thing happened. it's very scary! and tomorrow i have an appointment an hour away and am afraid it will happen while on the nj turnpike! mind you, the first week i owned the car i had to bring it in for the same problem. they said it had transmission problems and ford had it in their garage for two weeks. i hadn't really had a problem since then, but it appears this issue has resurfaced. very unsafe. it's time for a government issued recall since ford will not do one voluntarily! *tr

While driving my vehicle lost power and would only go 5 mph. the engine trouble (wrench) signal came on. we had the vehicle towed to the dealer. dealer ran diagnostic tests and determined throttle body was bad and needed to be replaced. part ordered and is on backorder - may be 3 weeks before part is available. the loss of power and sudden decline in speed could have caused a nasty accident. *tr

The car on multiple occasions would suddenly stop and would stall out or not allow any acceleration . battery would die while driving car would violently shake. throttle body was replaced in the summer of 2013 in december of 2013 we started having similar problems again with the shaking and stalling out. the throttle body needs replaced for the second time in less then 1 year. no accidents occurred but i could see this leading to accident injury or even death if this occurred on a highway. luckily we have always been on side roads when the engine has given out. ford is aware of this issue on this model of car this needs to be addressed and a recall needs to happen i have read hundreds of reviews since i began having issues and almost every single one has the same complaint about the throttle body this is not fair to the consumers who might purchase this car unknowingly and risk their safety everyone else's safety on the road and pay out of pocket hundreds of dollars for a known defect! *tr

There has been several incidents over the past 2 days. the first time it happened i was making a left turn, i tried to accelerate but there was none. the engine felt like it was shaking. i pulled over after finally getting through the intersection, turned off the car and then after a few minutes, restarted it and it ran fine. that evening on my way home from work i was driving down the street and it did the same thing. a wrench light came on the dash display. the same thing has happened 6 times. its almost like it resets itself if i turn the car on and off. the wrench light also turns off once i turn the car on and off. *tr

My wife was driving the car and it lost power and as she described "it started to buck". there was little response and the orange wrench light came on. she turned off the car and started it back up. the car was fine and a couple miles down the road the check engine light came on and it did it again. she turned the car off and started it again. she was able to get it home. i looked at it the following day and contacted my local ford dealer. speaking to a technician, he told me a diagnostic probably wouldn't bring anything up since the lights were now off and the computer had reset itself. on sunday june 30th, 2013, i was driving approximately 55 mph when i pressed the accelerator to switch lanes and there was no response from the engine. the orange wrench light came on and my wife told me that that's exactly what had happened to her. fortunately, there was little traffic and i was able to coast to a nearby parking lot. i turned the car off and let it sit for about 5 minutes. when i started it back up, it idled rough and quickly smoothed out. it sounds like there are many similar issues with the throttle body on this vehicle. i stopped reading after 55 reports all listing the same issue. a recall should be placed on this part since it causes a high hazard/major safety issue. *tr

I was driving on a highway going about 40 and the car stalled and lost all power with no response to pressing the pedal. it was idling very rough and the wrench light and check engine light came on. i shut the car off and restarted and it seemed fine until i got on the interstate. while driving on the interstate it stalled around 15 times in 20 miles. it stalled going 75 mph a few times and also stalled countless times in traffic when i was stopped and tried to accelerate. this was very scary and is an extremely dangerous issue. on the way home i experienced the same problem and rode with my hazards on in fear of being rear-ended. *tr

2010 ford fusion sel 2.5l automatic purchased in yonge/steeles ford lincoln in canada. during normal driving, wrench light will suddenly be on: - cannot accelerate, speed cannot go beyond 60km/h, rpm cannot go beyond 2000 - sometimes vehicle will suddenly loose power and slow down. almost got rear-ended a few times. - managed to pull over, stop the car, and restart, sometimes the problem will disappear after restart, sometimes the problem comes back in a few minutes took my car to markville ford lincoln on june 20th, 2013, and they claimed it was fixed. on the report, it is said: "ds12 diagnose engine light concern, locate and repair wiring to accelerator, replace sensor" "ftp fuel injectors & throttle body service plus pcm reprogram" 5 days later on june 25, 2013, the exact same problem happened again. i was almost rear-ended, and my 3 year old son was sitting in the back of the car. very frustrated and upset. took the car to markville ford lincoln first thing in the morning on june 26, 2013, and the wrench light was on my way to the dealer. i did not shutdown the engine and put the car in parking at the dealer. after a while, the engine suddenly started to rev up and down between 1500 and 2200 rpm. voiced the concern of the throttle body issue to the dealer as i have seen this issue discussed all over the internet. dealer still claim it is a pcm issue. the car is still in the dealership right now. called ford canada customer relationship, and they will contact markville ford lincoln. sorry the address doesn't allow canadian address. so i simply put new york state. *tr

Without warning the motor shut down, no power and begin to misfire. after pulling over and waiting, i was able to restart the motor. this happened three times within 120 miles. the car was taken to a auto repair shop and diagnostic testing was done. the codes reveled throttle body problem. *tr

Transmission slipping

I was getting up to speed on the highway after being in stop & go for about 15 minutes. the "wrench" icon warning light came on, the revs dropped and there was no throttle response from the engine. pulled to the side of the road. shut down and restart. idle was low and rough, still no throttle response. shut down again and called aaa for a tow. while on the phone, i turned the engine back on (not running yet) and noticed the wrench light was off. started the car again, and this time everything was back to normal. mechanic found no engine codes, suspects bad egr valve or bad throttle body. *tr

I had the transmission failure light (wrench) come on twice driving home yesterday. the first time was from a stop light and then turning left. the car shuddered, the light came on and the car went into limp mode and wouldn't go more than 5mph. after pulling over and turning the car off, i was able to restart the car after 2-3 tries. upon restart the light cleared and i was able to start driving home. about 2-3 miles later, on the highway, the problem happened again, traveling around 65 mph. same symptoms, the car went into limp mode, i had no acceleration and couldn't go more than 5mph. the car shook and shuddered. after pulling over ( on the highway! ) i was able to restart it and limp home. i took the car to a dealer and they said the throttle body needs to be replaced. they currently have 7 fusions on their lot with the same exact problem. this is a very dangerous problem as the car unexpectedly loses all acceleration and would seem likely to cause an accident. i was fortunate to be able to pull over and restart the car, but will not be driving the car until it is fixed as it is a severe safety hazard. one ford seems to know about, having release a tbs, but needs to go further and issue a recall. *tr

As i drove my 2010 ford fusion se 6 speed manual transmission up to a speed of 50 mph, i was noticing a couple jerks of acceleration and then completely loosing power.i was able to pull over, come to a complete stop and turn the vehicle off and restart it. app-on restarting i was able to make it to auto zone where i was informed that my fuel injectors probably needed a good cleaning. so i bought some cleaner and ran i through my engine. that seemed to have worked until 3 days later i was coming home with my sister and her friend on the freeway, during rush hour driving 75mph this time, and my car didn't only stall once, but three times on my drive home. however, this time my check engine light came on so when i arrived back how and dropped of my sister and her friend i drove to auto zone and advanced auto parts to get an obd ii reading. both readings were p2111, meaning that my throttle actuator was stuck open and not responding to the gas peddle. now both companies suggested that i just clean my throttle body and that would fix the problem. before i did this i call my ford dealer to see if this part was under warranty or any kind of recall and was informed that it was not under warranty or recall. they also suggested that i just clean the throttle body and that would fix my problem. so i cleaned the throttle body, but now the car is stalling more than before. i tried looking up the part so that i could replace it but found out that ford has already discontinued that part and is telling people to by the new part, but they never did a recall for the part. this particular part controls the air flow into the engine, if it malfunctions the throttle body closes up and the car idles, no matter how fast you are going. this is a sever safety issue that ford needs to take responsibility for. if they don't someone can be seriously injured, or worse, killed. *tr

I was in the parking lot at work going about 10 mph when i felt a sudden jerk and i saw wrench with no engine light come on and i was unable to accelerate i was only able to come to a stop and turn the vehicle off and was able to start it up again without a problem. i told my husband thinking it was just a fluke but then 3 days ago he experienced the same think while on the highway. after paying for a diagnostic we found out it was the throttle body. we contacted our dealership and they cannot order the throttle body kit since it is on back order. now we are being forced to either take a chance and drive the vehicle while waiting who knows how long for a part or purchase a different vehicle. *tr

4th incident with my 2010 fusion shutting down while driving. i picked it up from the ford service 6/18 and they said they fixed it, again. i drove to work, no problems. got off work, driving for about 10 minutes and the car sputtered, wrench light comes on and when i press the gas, nothing happens. coasted to the side of the road and it sputtered some more and shuts off. ford keeps making repairs to my car saying they've fixed it but it's not fixed. now i have $1,200 in repair bills and no car. i'm scared to drive my car and very stressed over this. no one should have to keep going through this danger of driving a car that keeps shutting off! and as i see from other ford owners, i'm not the only one this is happening to. ford needs to do something about this issue, or someone is going to get seriously hurt, or killed!! i've complained to ford motor credit customer service and filed another complaint with the nhtsa. please do something to recall these cars to fix the issues!! *tr

I was driving on the highway at 65 mph during rush hour traffic when suddenly my speed dropped to 5 mph. i pulled off to the side of the road and turned off my car. after sitting for a few minutes i started the car and got back on the highway. after i traveled for approximately one mile it did the same thing again. i turned off the car and restarted in a minute or two and again was able to continue my travels on the highway. my destination was about two miles away. i called the dealer, ganley ford, that i purchased the car from and was able to get my car in that day. the diagnosed the problem to be the throttle body. i was told that it would take a week for the part to come in. to my surprise it only took three days for it come in. i was told that this was not covered under the manufacturer warranty or under my extended warranty. this a very serious issue and i am lucky that i was not hit from behind because there was no warning that this was going to happen. my spend just went from 65 mph to 5 mph. i had the gas pedal to the floor, but my car would not go. i have read many ford forums and blogs and it appears that this is a very common problem. i believe that these cars should be recalled and those of us that have already paid to have the problem fixed should be reimbursed. *tr

Was driving on highway, when my 2010 ford fusion se lost power and was jerking forward. i had to pull over to side of highway because i could not accelerate. indicator light for transmission problem was on. i turned off the car and restarted, after which the vehicle ran fine again. however, after driving for a few more miles, car did the same thing. i again restarted and vehicle ran fine again, this time running long enough for me to get home. while driving it to the ford dealership, it did this again, this time at speed of about 60 mph. vehicle would drive but was only able to go at very low speeds. dealer said it was an issue with throttle body and that this part is on backorder. *tr

When driving on a highway, suddenly the engine seemed to lose power and slow down, and the wrench on the dashboard lit up. switched the transmission to neutral and was able to pull onto the shoulder. upon putting the car into park, the engine would race and slow down continuously. after turning off the car, waiting a few minutes and then restarting, was able to continue driving without incident for another hour or so. wasn't able to extract any fault codes from the ecu later that day. purchased an obd reader and was able to get error code p2112 next time the issue happened. dealer refuses to cover the expense as i am out of the bumper-to-bumper warranty period, and the part is on backorder for weeks. complained to ford corporate who told me they would "likely" make an exception and to bring the car to the dealer to diagnose. dealer confirmed the issue, called ford corporate to confirm it would be covered and they denied it. complete waste of my time, and shocking that ford doesn't do a recall for such a dangerous issue. i'm lucky i didn't get in an accident any of the 5 times or so this has happened to me. *tr

Was driving down highway approx 40 mph and vehicle shut off, coasted to side of rode, turned key twice, no luck, then 3rd time it cranked back up, then drove slowly another mile to home.scared me, having recently been in an auto accident (no fault of my own) could have easily been rear ended again!!! maybe a throttle body issue that needs to be recalled??? *tr

Driving at highway speeds when i felt a shudder and realized i was losing forward momentum. rpms dropped and the engine did not respond to stepping on the gas pedal. a wrench light illuminated on the dash. only coasting, i was able to move the car to the side of the road and put it in park. car had a very shaky idle, like it was about to stall. i turned off the ignition and waited for about 1 min, then tried to turn the car back on. car took longer than usual to turn back on, but once it was back on it seemed fine. was able to continue driving it to my destination without further incident. five days after first incident, same even occurred again, with turning the car off and on seeming to correct the problem for the time. no electrical, braking, or power-steering power was lost. *tr

On june 12th 2013 my 2010 ford fusion lost all power while i was driving. this occurred at approximately 35 mph. total miles on vehicle 50008. the vehicle was unable to drive and i was forced to tow the car. it was towed to a local ford dealership. the dealership informed me the throttle body was defective. i was informed that this part was not covered under the drive train warranty. the cost of this was out of pocket at this point. parts and labor totaling $409 paid in full at the dealership. i was told by ford representative at the dealership to keep the receipt for a potential and likely recall. under fords ?customer satisfaction program? they supposedly mailed out letters to affected customers in early 2014 for warranty extensions and potential refunds. however i didn't receive anything from ford even though they had my correct mailing address and phone number. ford was aware of my warranty claim at the time as i contacted them by phone on 06/13/2013. on 10/01/2014 i contacted ford motor company via phone after i read a news article about the ?customer satisfaction program". i was informed at this point by a csr and a supervisor that they could no longer help me because deadline date for refunds was 07/31/2014. i feel this is completely unfair to me the consumer. i was forced to pay out of pocket for a defective part that ford was completely aware of even before my issue. this is a major safety issue for ford. when the incident occurred i was driving in traffic and lost all power to my vehicle. luckily i was only traveling roughly 35 mph and was able to pull over safely. i can only imagine the results if i was driving on a major highway. i would like to file a complaint towards ford motor company for safety concerns with the defective throttle body and the poor customer service that was provided to me. *tr

I was driving at approximately 35 mph when without any warning the car stopped accelerating and began to shake and the wrench light on the dashboard lit up. there was no indication at all that anything was wrong prior to the decelerating and shaking. the rapid deceleration caused the car behind me to have to swerve into the other lane to avoid hitting me. i hit the emergency lights to warn drivers behind me and with some difficultly (due to the shaking) was able to pull to the side of the road. once i was safely out of traffic i turned the car off. i waited a moment to calm myself as it was frightening to have no control of my vehicle on a busy street. when i turned the car back on the dash light was no longer on and the car performed normally. when i got back to my office i looked for similar incident on the web and was horrified to find hundreds and hundreds of complaints about the very same thing. this is an extremely dangerous issue. having no control of the speed of a vehicle is life threatening. had this happened on a busy highway it would very likely have caused an accident. i called ford and was told to take the car in to the dealership so they could diagnose it and fix the problem. my concern is that if there is no recall on this part that causes this problem - what guarantee is there that the new part will not do the same thing. i find it difficult to believe that after all of the complaints about the same problem ford does not think it important enough to recall or at the very least warn their fusion owners! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the fifth and sixth gear slipped. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown.

June 10th, 2013 the car decrease from 45 to 5 miles while making a left hand turn crossing two lanes of on coming traffic. wrench light came on. i switched off car and restarted. light disappeared. we put a call into dealership service department and reported to ford motor. no reply back from stamford dealership. light did not come back on and i was able to drive car home. *tr

Wife was driving down 4 lane highway when car stalled and died due to bad throttle body. cars behind her had to change lanes, one truck had to slam on brakes. the red wrench light came on. i've heard other complaints on the very same issue with nothing being done. i'm reporting now because i've got another issue with the driver side axle leak. also another issue i've seen multiple reports on. i bought extended warranty but have been out $200 for deductible. these are issues that ford needs to step up and make recalls. the bad thing is i've had to wait for the parts both times because its such a bad issue that everything is on backorder. please get these things taken care of before someone gets seriously hurt. my wife was very close to getting hit by a big truck. i think people that have been out money for these things should also get refunded. there needs to be a recall on both issues. thank you.. *tr

Was driving interstate speeds and vehicle shut down, wrench symbol came on dash board. has happened 3-5 times since, in traffic or at highway speeds. extremely dangerous. *tr

Was driving on the freeway with cruise control on and all of a sudden the car shook and there was a beep and then my wrench light came on and started losing speed fast. was able to get over to the shoulder. i turned the car off and then turned it back on. was able to drive a few hundred yards when it happened against this time the engine light came on and stayed on. i took it to the dealer and with in 30 minutes told me was the throttle body intake with an error code of p2111. could have gotten bad quickly. *tr

Vehicle completely lost power while driving and virtually shut down while driving on a major highway. i brought the vehicle to lamarque ford and was told that it was the throttle body. last week, i was again getting on the interstate and the same thing happened. this time i have 40300 miles on the vehicle. i was told that it would not be covered because the vehicle was out of warranty and the parts warranty was only good for a year. in addition, i was told that the part is on back order and it will take 2 to 3 weeks for the dealership to get the part. this is very well known with this car and a major safety issue. i am afraid to drive this car since it just completely shuts down and hesitates to start back up. it has left me stranded many times. *tr

I was driving at approx. 45 mph when vehicle experienced an almost total loss of power and the engine shuddered to a stop. instrument panel indications were a "wrench" and steady engine light. i was able to restart and the car and drive a mile to my home there were no warning lights when starting the car the next day, however about 1.5 mi. from home the same exact indications and conditions returned when i accelerated from 45 to 50 mph. again the "wrench" and engine light illuminated. a restart allowed me to drive home during which time the engine light was illuminated steady. the condition recurred an additional two times during the short drive home. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis and repair on monday. i was not told of the extensive history of similar problems with my vehicle, but was only advised that the "throttle body" was carbonned up" and needed to be replaced or cleaned, the dealer reported that throttle bodies were on backorder and said they cleaning mine should correct the problem. i elected to have them clean the throttle body. after the maintenance was allegedly completed i was driving home after picking up the vehicle, when, within only 1/2 mi. of the dealership, the vehicle again experienced the same near total loss of power. i was able to pull off the road and restart the engine. i pulled out into traffic on a very busy thoroughfare to return to the dealer when the car died again leaving me the middle of four lanes of opposing, fast-moving traffic. i felt very unsafe. after a brief internet search i discovered this to be a common occurrence with my vehicle and i suspect it is more widespread than what has been reported to date. *tr

My wife was driving home from work yesterday evening at highway speed (65mph) when the car stalled and wrench icon came on. could not accelerate but thankfully able to coast across two lanes on a busy highway at rush hour to get to shoulder! car was jerking as it came to a stop. turned the engine off, waited a few minutes, turned engine back on and car was ok again. unfortunately this wasn't the first time; there have been at least 5 other instances. first time was approx 9 months ago (before warranty was up). brought the car to dealer, they plugged it into their computer and got no error codes so "no problem" detected. now warranty is up i wonder how much this is gonna cost!! furthermore, the car battery went dead couple of weeks ago; that's only 3 and 1/2 years old. seems odd. *tr

I was driving on the interstate with the cruise on when the wrench light lit up and the car started to slow. it did not respond to the gas pedal. i pulled over, restarted the car, and all was fine until 10 miles later when the check engine light went on, but the car continued to drive. i pulled off and drove home. the next day, the check engine light turned on when i started the car, but turned off a few minutes later. the car killed twice on surface streets, with no check engine light. garage has identified the problem as the "throttle body wire." *tr

I am having an issue with my 2010 ford fusion (v-6 engine). first the car began idling rough, with the engine occasionally surging gears shift (automatic transmission). on a second incident, the engine shut off while sitting at idle, and the check engine light came on. i took the car to the dealer, who was unable to identify a problem but cleaned the throttle body. on a third incident the car lost throttle while traveling at approximately 50 miles per hour. dealer indicated (based on computer codes) the need for a replacement of the throttle body. *tr

Driving at 45 mph in rush hour traffic vehicle stalled wrench light came on and would not accelerate vehicle crept at less than 5 mph when i finally got to a safe place to pull over i shut vehicle off wrench light gone and vehicle worked fine. i took it to dealership they said it was throttle body charged me $596 to replace they said it was common. however shouldn't this be a recall since it is so dangerous. *tr

I was driving on a city street and the car lost power. the wrench light came on. i glided to a parking lot and turned the car off. i waited a minute and started the car and it seemed fine. i drove it a week and the exact same thing happened. we brought it to a ford dealer who had no idea what the problem was. the diagnostics showed no recordings. they performed some maintenance and now i see on my bill a statement that says "may need throttle body if concern happens again" it happened again on the 4th of july 2013, on the expressway going 70 mph. the car stopped accelerating, the wrench light came on, we were able to move over two lanes and get on the shoulder. the car bucked and coughed a few times and we turned it off. we were able to start again and go home, all of us visibly shaken and now very angry at the dealer. *tr

After coming to a stop at a red light, we tried to accelerate, when the wrench light came on and the car lost power, but did not shut off. we could not accelerate, rpms dropped and, luckily we coasted to a safe stop. i put it park and turned it off. after a minute or two, started it up again, the wrench light was off. we went a couple of miles and it did it again. we decided it was unsafe so we brought it home. *tr

Throttle body went out on 2010 ford fusion. throttle body was unresponsive and car shook violently. *tr

At 1605 while driving through an intersection, the car lost forward motion and stalled. the wrench light came on. when the car was turned off and back on, which was slow, the wrench light went off. was able to drive home without further incident. the next morning at 0645, driving 45mph, the car again lost power/forward motion, stalled and wrench light appeared. was able to restart the car and drove directly to the dealer service dept. both times the car was restarted, the wrench light disappeared. the dealership cannot replicate the problem and cannot find an error code. this appears to be a known issue with the 10-11 models based on forums online from customers across the us. this is a major safety concern. i do not want to be driving 75mph on the interstate with my family and the car lose power and get hit by an 18-wheeler and die. the dealer claims they are 99.9% sure it is the throttle body, but will not replace it because they cannot locate an error code. if this many cars are having the same issue, they need to recall this part and quickly! *tr

Car stalled and wrench indicator and check engine light came on. *tr

I was pulling out of my work parking lot, going less than 10mph, and i lost all acceleration in my car. i was able to pull to the curb, put it in park, shut it off, then restart. it started hard, and immediately had the "wrench" icon on. again, i had no acceleration. i decided to try one more time to try to drive it to the dealership i bought the car from (less than 15 miles from my work). it started once more, a little easier, but still not "right." the engine light was on, but i was able to pull out and start driving. i made it about 6-7 miles, and once again, i lost all acceleration in the middle of a busy intersection. i was able to putter out of the intersection at an extremely low speed. i once again put it in park, turned off the engine, and tried one more time to start my car. once again, it started very hard, but it allowed me to drive. i drove the remaining 6-7 miles to the dealership while the engine light was on. the part, i was told, is on national backorder, and am without my vehicle for 2 weeks. my car has less than 57,000 miles on it and have only had it a little over 2 years. [bought december 2010, incident occurred june 2013]. i even purchased the extended warranty but this particular repair is conveniently not covered by it. *tr

This has been a recurring problem for some time and on june 2nd it happened to me 9 times during a 20 mile trip. while traveling down the road, doesn't matter what speed/accelerating/decelerating, the wrench light will come on and i will lose all throttle control. i have to pull to the side of the road and when i do the vehicle shakes viciously. turn the car off, then back on and it starts with a sluggish start. the vehicle will run for a little bit then repeat this cycle. the throttle body is the problem and it is on national backorder! this needs to be a recall immediately because i can easily see someone making a left turn loose the throttle and get hit by on oncoming vehicle. *tr

Fuel cap codes, emission control codes and throttle actuator control code are now on all the time. i had taken it back to ford, but light had went out at the time. i was told that the codes do not log in ecm. i was told they could hook up equipment, there would be no codes and the cost $90.00. i left. on a short trip this weekend we had problems with all codes staying on and new one for throttle when cruise would not set. i stopped at autozone and they could print out stored codes. they are p0455, p0457,p2119. they have performed and throttle recall once and i have a letter from ford about a recall, but no response as of yet. as of today the dash service wrench has reset. the problems start over a year ago on trips to fla. but lights always seamed to reset after several key recycles. thanks [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I was driving down the road at 45 mph and the engine stalled. it was very dangerous but i did not get into an accident. i waited a few minutes and started the car back up and it worked fine for about two miles and did the same thing again. i found out through ford that it was the throttle body and even the dealership admitted it was becoming a big problem. the part is back ordered for a month and it was not covered under warranty. ford should admit the problem and recall the part before someone gets really hurt. *tr

Driving home from work going about 60 mph and the wrench light came on unexpectedly and my car stopped taking any gas. the throttle stopped working completely and i just barely made it to the shoulder before my car stopped completely on a busy highway. was towed to the dealership where no one was there to look at it because it was about 6pm. went back the next day and was told it's the throttle body and it would be ordered on monday. i received a call monday morning stating the piece would be in the next evening and to drop my car off wednesday. i take my car back on wednesday morning and have someone at my work pick me up. they failed to tell me this before leaving but the piece is on back order and they have no idea when it will come in to be fixed... after i was already at work! what poor customer service! now i have to drive a car that could fail and stop accelerating at any moment because ford doesn't know how to take care of their customers properly. this part should be recalled if this many people are having issues that the part is on back order and you have people driving with vehicles that could just stop working at any time and any speed. it's completely unprofessional. *tr

Driving approximately 35 mph while changing lanes and car lost power; wrench indicator did appear. third instance of this happening - first two incidents occurred in first year of owning vehicle; wrench indicator did not appear in these occurrences. vehicle currently being serviced for this problem as well as recurring lag in acceleration. this vehicle has also been serviced in the past for the aforementioned issues as well as: jerk and clunk when reversing, unexpected rev in rpms, and slipping when gears change. this is a fusion with the 6f35 automatic transmission. as usual, dealer has said if the code doesn't register or if they can't recreate the issue when out for a test drive then they will have to note it as no problem found. *tr

My ford fusion displayed a wrench icon on the dash and lost power on the garden state parkway. there was no shoulder for me to pull over to, and i had to coast until there was a patch of dirt to pull into. terrifying to say the least. took it to our local ford dealership (where it is now), and we were told there is a backorder of 6800 throttle bodies, meaning we would have to rent a vehicle until ours was repaired. ford should be paying for this rental car. i have researched this problem, and it appears to be rampant. this should be a recall and repaired at ford's cost. *tr

My wife was driving on the main major highway two weeks ago around 45 miles per hour. the car lost all acceleration. she had to dodge moving traffic to pull over with no power. after she shut the car off it started again without issues. yesterday i was driving about 40 and also lost acceleration but still had power, it was weired the car was still on, but the yellow "wrench light" came on indicating it was a throttle control transmission problem! i pulled over put the car in park, turn off the ignition, and restart the car with out a problem. its only 2010 fusion so we shouldn't be having this issue... in these two incidents an experienced driver was behind the wheel my son has started driving and this is a receipt for disaster or worse! from what the ford dealer mentioned it could be the throttle body problem and it's not covered under warranty. there needs to be a recall, especially with the number of compaints i have read before someone isn't so lucky in traffic. "ford motor company", lets not wait for serious injury or death to address this issue! recall actions need to be taken asap "before" a serious incident ! *tr

This is the second time this has happened. we were driving on the freeway at about 65 mph with cruise control on but not set (icon was yellow and not green). we changed lanes and hit a rough place in the road, perhaps a slight pothole on the freeway. suddenly the chime was heard and the message service advance trac, then service power steering now. the slide icon also appeared. we did not slow down and drove at least a half hour at highway speed. we stopped and parked the car at walmart. when the car was restarted, no power steering at all. my gentleman friend is a farmer. he drove the car home without the power steering, fought the steering for miles. we will take it in to the dealer to reset it. the first time this happened, i was driving around 75 mph with the cruise control activated but not set (yellow icon, not green). i maneuvered a broad turn on the freeway at speed, and the slide icon appeared. then quickly the service power steering now message appeared. i continued driving for a mile, exited the freeway at my place of employment, and as i pulled into the parking slot, realized that the car was very difficult to steer. later, when i restarted the car, no power steering. had it towed, and the ford dealer reset the computer. this was 4 months ago. i wonder if there is a connection between cruise control engagement and advancetrac. can advancetrac be deactivated?? *tr ## vin failed ##
