Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2010 Ford Fusion

While driving down, a busy intersection at 30mph.my 2010 ford fusion just stopped, rpms went down wrench came on and car started shaking bad, thank god no one was behind me could of been hit from behind this has happened about 5 times this month alone...ford should recall these fusions before they get hit with a law suit...am grateful was by myself...i usually have my grandchildren...ford needs to look into this back up your name... *tr

Vehicle had no throttle response, and had to coast to a stop. incident happened many times prior to the date shown, but did not have specific date and mileage. in conducting web research, the problem is endemic with many ford production years and models, and ford has thus far refused to issue a recall, or to provide any out-of-warranty relief. according to my research, the part involved is a "throttle body," and there have been at least 9,000 complaints about this issue. this is an extremely dangerous situation since the car randomly stops, and the only known remedy is to stop the car, wait a time, and then restart it. to the best i can find out, the throttle body is part of the power train, which is why that description was chosen'. *tr

While in heavy rush-hour traffic on interstate 64w near the 121 mile marker in indiana, the vehicle lost power abruptly, started to run roughly and would not respond to throttle input. the wrench light appeared on the instrument cluster and rpms were unsteady, cycling erratically between 800-1,100 rpm. this stretch of interstate is a three-lane, long uphill grade and the incident occurred going up this grade. i turned on my emergency flashers, rolled my window down to signal by hand to other drivers my intent and barely made it across the lanes of traffic into the emergency lane without causing an accident. many other drivers needed to swerve or brake hard to avoid me due to the rapid deceleration. the shuddering continued whether the vehicle gear selector was in park, neutral, or drive. i tried to continue driving on in the emergency lane to the next exit but on that uphill grade the vehicle was only capable of 2-3mph. i decided that i should stop just short of an emergency lane narrowing. after turning the vehicle on and off three times trying unsuccessfully to remedy the situation, i turned the vehicle off, opened the hood, and called for assistance. after about 10 minutes, i started the car again and the problem was no longer present. i drove the vehicle to the repair shop and i am currently awaiting their diagnosis. this was a serious situation and luckily there were no accidents and no one was injured. *tr

I was on the freeway when the 2010 ford fusion lost power, began to shudder and the wrench light illuminated on the instrument cluster. luckily i was able to get to the side of the road before the vehicle died. i had the vehicle towed to a ford dealer and they diagnosed the problem as a bad throttle body. after doing some very basic research on the internet i found that this is a huge problem and it isn't be covered under a recall or the powertrain warranty. i think that ford should be, at least, helping consumers cover the cost of this replacement. *tr

2010 ford fusion se wrench light comes on and the car stops driving on the highway, street and in an intersection. the wrench light comes on and the car loses its acceleration completely. the car will start to stall and shake.the dealerships can't find out why this is happening. ford will not call a recall for this issue and ford stated the part for this vehicle is on back order with no eta. i'm not the only person with this known issue. if you google the wrench light you will see a number of 2010 fusion owners have this problem. this problem is growing at a rapid rate and ford has yet to do anything about this situation. what will it take for someone to get killed before ford motor company take this issue serious. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the vehicle began to lunge and jerk. the vehicle then stopped accelerating and was towed to a dealer for diagnosis. the contact was informed that the transmission would need to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 117,603.

I was driving on a major highway in town going about 45 miles per hour. the car started shaking violently and i could not accelerate. i had to dodge moving traffic while my car shut down. i had to put the car in park, turn off the ignition, and restart the car. a yellow wrench light came on while the car was shaking. i was able to avoid getting into an accident, however i was fearful for my life. there needs to be a recall, especially with the number of complaints i have read. it is beyond me how this is not under warranty, considering my car is less than 5 years old and doesn't even have 40k miles on it. after a tow to the local ford dealership, i was told (4 days later) that it was the throttle body and it's not covered under warranty. *tr

1 morning traffic, heavy stop and go, tool light came on, car stalled, shake and would not accelerate. 2 another when i was with children and steady speed of 65mph on the freeway and on fast lane and car no warnings shut down accelerations and tool light came on. 3 driving without traffic coming off a stop light turning on a main street and car shuts down again after no warning . tool light comes on and engine light as well. many other incidents have occurred and finally after several attempts to figure out what was the issues the mechanic had a code od p2111 throttle body system was the cause. very dangerous and what is worse the car tests itself and makes the issues go away for a short time. *tr

My wife driving a 2010 ford fusion with was driving down i 75 in detroit around 9:30 am to work, when all sudden the engine lost power. the maintenance light ( yellow wrench) started blinking rapidly. she could not accelerate even though is was pressing the accelerator pedal to ground. the engine started shuddering and shaking. my wife managed to steer the vehicle towards the exit on the highway. drivers behind her started to brake as her vehicle started to slow down. she managed to take the next exit and pull in gas station where she shut the engine off. after about a 5 min she started the car. she did not find any problem. she went home and called me. at home i put a code reader on the car and found it had the error p2111. investigating this further tells me it is due to fuel injection throttle body. i called the dealer huntington ford in rochester hills, mi who wants me to bring the car for checkup with scanner ( costs about $96). since the car has 58300 miles on it is no longer covered by factory warranty. i am concerned this is a serious safety defect and needs to be covered under warranty. i do see there a lot of people who have has this problem with 2010 ford fusions. *tr

Driving 45 miles per hour, when car just started shaking then stopped, glided over to breakdown lane. car started again after a minute or so went on our way. next day car stopped again, twice. took it into ford dealership. they said it was the throttle body and is on back order but we can clean it, they did and charged $250 for service. well it is happening again and again. we bought this car brand new in 2010 for our retirement car, it has only 38000 miles. we are afraid to take long trips, so we are stuck to home with only grocery store and other runs. what a retirement!!!!!!!!! we traded in a 2003 crown victoria, ford of course. my first car was a 1962, galaxie 500 and have had fords ever since, can send you pictures of all our fords. never had a ford with a problem, ever, talk about scary, we are in out upper 60s and driving this car is so really scary. we do not need to have or cause an accident. it keeps happening, sad for us. *tr

The first incident occurred a month ago. as i was accelerating from a stopped position at a stop light, the car's engine seemed to lose power and wrench (throttle control/transmission) light came on. i rolled to a stop at the corner of the intersection, and put the vehicle in park. in park, the engine began to shake so, i turned the vehicle off. after a minute i turned the vehicle back on, the car seemed to run fine afterwards with no check engine light. i called the service center at the ford dealership to find out if i should have this checked out and was told no since the light was no longer on. today(5/22/13), the car stalled again. this time i was going 50 mph and had to pull promptly to shoulder to avoid being hit by the unsuspecting driver behind me. i turned off the engine and restarted the car. i was able to go a few feet before the car stalled again. this time the check engine light came on, and i again pulled over and turned the car off again. this continued to happen several more times on my drive home. i am having the car towed to a ford dealership tomorrow to find out the cause. this is very dangerous and there were several times that i had to quickly put my hazards on and get to the shoulder, luckily never causing an accident. *tr ## vin failed ##

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph, the transmission began to vibrate excessively in a jerking motion with the illumination of the wrench warning icon. the warning icon remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. the failure recurred ten times while the contact traveled at various speeds. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis and they were unable to detect a problem. the manufacturer was not notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 82,650.

Driving to work, our 2010 ford fusion sputtered and stalled. after restarting, the car continued to sputter and we brought it into the nearest ford dealership. we were informed that the throttle body had degraded and needed to be replaced. the vehicle has been serviced at ford dealerships regularly and on-time. we replaced the battery last month. our problem appears to reflect the nhtsa's ongoing investigation of ford electronic throttle body failures. ref: http://www.ncconsumer.org/news%20articles/nhtsa%20opens%20investigation%20into%202005-2012%20ford%20escape%20vehicles%20following%20petition%20from%20nccc.html. *tr

Driving at approximately 50 miles/hr when the car started to hesitate, then no acceleration and the wrench light came on. immediately turned on my flashers and pulled the car to the side of the road. after turning off the car and sitting there for about 5 minutes i was able to get the car safely off the road. *tr

When i pulled out into traffic leaving work, the engine went idle and the wrench light came on. lost all acceleration. from all the complaints of the same issue with the throttle body, really hope this gets resolved.. *tr

this situation first came to my attention about 2 months ago pulling out of my driveway. the car stalled and was unable to press the gas and then sputtered out and shook violently with the check wrench showing. i turned the car off and then started the car and drove off. i was very concerned when this happened and called the ford dealership, they stated that it is most likely a throttle body or maybe it was just a bad batch of gas. they stated not to get it check until it happens again, so over this weekend at all times i'm heading out to my friends camp ground 80 miles away from where i live. while driving on the highway the wrench went on and i could not press the accelerator at 70mph. i pulled over to the shoulder and turned it off as it sputtered again. it started up and i was already 60 miles into the trip so i went on and 10 miles more down the road it stalled again at 60mph. i finally was able to get off at the exit and it stalled about another 15 miles on a country road going about 50mph with now where to pull over and at the bottom of a hill. if a car would of been following me, it most likely would of smashed into my rear end with them not being able to stop in time. . i had to get the car towed 80miles to a dealer ship but was going to change out the part myself but all the ford parts place are out of the throttle body and they have cars that have been waiting on throttle bodies for weeks. i know it was a throttle body because of the complaints all over the internet with the 2010 fusion and also the code that the computer read off that i borrowed form autozone. this is now going to sit at the dealership for weeks and they are to charge me about 500 dollars for a car part that has only 28000 miles on it and serious problems with malfunctoning throttle body replacements do to electrical or whatever lemon part. *tr

Was driving on the freeway at a constant speed when the car lost acceleration and the wrench light came on. pulled to shoulder and car shook until i shut the ignition off. started back up fine and was able to drive again. it repeated this 4 times within an hour. still waiting on dealership to "diagnose" the problem since the check engine light is no longer on. believe that it is the throttle body. *tr

While traveling at highway speed, the car suddenly lost throttle control and thus power to the drive train. this required me to coast to a stop along the shoulder of the interstate. after getting the vehicle to the ford dealer for service, i was informed that the problem is with the "throttle body". they also indicated that there are so many ford fusions currently with this same problem that throttle body parts are on backorder for up to 2 months. and unfortunately the vehicle is unsafe to operate in its current state. i think this should warrant a recall, since it can (and did) result in unsafe event for the driver. *tr

At highway speed the vehicle losses all power check engine and wrench light comes on. dealer claims it is a on going issue with the throttle body assembly. it must be a wide spread problem since the parts are back ordered for weeks. i hope someone does not get killed before they admit it is a safety problem. *tr

i have a 2010 ford fusion and have been having this problem for a while now where my car while driving will jerk really hard than start vibrating and then come to a halt, i will put the car in park and turn the car off and restart and drive again then the same thing will happen this time the engine light comes on i took my car to the mechanic and the ford dealership and both told me that its the throttle body and its on back order and has been on back order for sometime now i have driven my car and its keeps happening over and over again now i am no longer driving my car and had to rent a car which is causing a financial burden but i have no choice til the part come in for my car to be repaired. i was also told by the ford dealership that this is a very big problem with the ford fusion i hope this problem is resolved soon and my car is either repaired or replaced i need my car to get back and forth to work ! i also feel that i should be reimbursed once my vehicle is repaired and for the rental of another vehicle to get back and forth to work as i can no longer drive my car due to this safety hazard. *tr

I was traveling on the kennedy expressway in chicago at about 4:30 pm at rush hour time. the little wrench light came on the dashboard without warning or any kind of notice and i could not accelerate at all. when i touched the gas pedal nothing happened at all. i managed to get off on the nearest exit and was blocking traffic. finally i tried shutting off the vehicle and then restarting it. this solved the problem temporarily. this happened to me three times intermittently, twice on the highway and once as i was trying to make a left turn at a busy intersection. no warning. the light comes on and you have no acceleration. i'm being told it could be the throttle body. *tr

On may 13, 2013, at approximatley 8:30am, on i-40 westbound at 70mph the engine suddenly completly lost power/thrust and the "wrench" light (throttle body indicator). all electrical components were still on, but the gas pedal would not respond. the engine was sputtering and seemed to be "choking". i put on the hazard indicators, pulled over to the side of the road and immediately turned the car off. i checked my owners manual and it stated that if the light remained on i had an issue with the throttle body. i turned the car on and the light did not come on or demonstrate any indication of trouble, so i continued driving to my destination. upon reaching my destination, i contacted the local dealership in the area, explained what happened and dropped it off for them to diagnose. after leaving it with the dealership for two days, the dealership could not replicate the problem but stated that it was the throttle body and that specific part was back-ordered unti june. with no options available, i paid the diagnostic fee of $130.71 and decided to try to drive it home. on may 16th, 2013, at approximately 10:30am, on i-81 southbound at 70mph the same exact issue occured again. i put on the hazard indicators, pulled over to the side of the road and immediately turned the car off. this time when i turned the car back on, the "engine" light came on (no "wrench" light). leaving the car running, i checked my owners manual and it stated to drive it to the closes dealership. upon reaching the dealership, i explained the repeated trouble i had had, what the previous delaership had stated and that the car was still running so they could diagnise it without having to replicate the problem. the dagnostic indicated code p2111 (throttle body stuck open-replace throttle body). they installed it, i paid the total service fee of $381.91 and drove the rest of the way home. *tr

Driving down the road, my car looses power, the gas petal has no effect on the engine. i press the petal and it has no response, no rpm response. each time i must pull over, put the car in park and shut the car off (reboot). it appears to be a throttle body issue - it continues to take place at variable speeds and with and without cruise control turned on. it's taken place several times on the interstate, causing me to cross 2 lanes of traffic to "reboot" my car. it's taken place for rthe past 10k miles - getting more frequent each week. *tr

Transmission is shifting very hard and slipping. it will jerk the whole car and sometimes not move at all and rev up to 4000rpm. i have called my local dealership to setup an appointment and they wont even look at it. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle would not accelerate. the contact shut the engine off and was able to drive without failure after restarting the vehicle however, the failure soon recurred. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. the technician stated that the throttle body would have to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 39,000.

While driving and making a transition from the 101 ca fw to the 110 santa monica, i proceeded to give the car more gas to get up to speed of the current traffic flow but my car lost all acceleration. a little wrench light started flashing but the car was quickly slowing down. the cars started idling heaving but still no acceleration. i quickly punched my hazard as i had my 3 children in the car with my and traffic was coming. i was able to make it to the first lane to try to exit the freeway. the car literally rolled to exit off 9th street and just glided down the off-ramp. a very terrifying experience as cars had to take evasion actions to avoid rearending me. i was able to pull the car over safe on the first available street. i put the car in park it started rattling harder. i then shut off the engine, turned everything off (air/radio) and unplugged my phone charger. i waited about 3 minutes and then started the car up again like nothing. i proceeded to take side street. it was about 2 weeks later very next day the car started up as normal but on my way to work while in the process of getting into the freeway and as began to give the car gas to merge in i lost all acceleration again. the little wrench light came and the hard rattling started but this time the engine light came on. husband drove it back to the dealer at 5mph rattling and all an we were told it was the throttle. the dealer said it would take 10 business day to get the part and replace it so a rental was provided. the very next day dealer said to pick up car as the throttle had been drained and reset not replaced. not sure i understand why they are not fixing the car by replacing the part if so many issues are being reported. refusing to pick up car till part is replaced and they can guarantee me this issue wont recur. *tr

While driving on the highway at approximately 65 mph, the car loss all power and the transmission began to vibrate excessively in a jerking motion with an illumination of the wrench symbol. the warning indicator remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. the failure occurred nine times at various speeds while trying to get home. the check engine light came on remained on once we arrived home. car has been at ford dealer for two weeks now waiting on a fuel body throttle which is apparently on back order nationwide. why there is not a recall on this very dangerous mechanical issue is beyond me! *tr

Started to accelerate after being stopped at a stop light when the car made a loud noise, shuddered, and then lost all power and would not accelerate no matter how hard the gas was pressed causing me to be stuck in the middle of the intersection. a wrench light indicating a transmission failure was indicated on the dash. i was able to limp along at <5 mph to the side of the road. turning the car off and then restarting cleared the error code on the dash and i was able to drive the remaining 0.5 miles to work. calling ford they indicated there was nothing they could do because the error code was cleared. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving approximately 15 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate upon engaging the pedal. the engine and wrench symbol warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. the failure occurred on two occasions. the throttle body assembly and actuator were replaced. the manufacturer was not notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 44,645. ...updated 06-19-13 *bf updated 06/28/2013 *js

Driving on expressway the car quickly and randomly lost acceleration and jerked violently. i was driving in the middle lane and nearly was rear ended by vehicle behind me. i was able to put car in neutral and move over to the shoulder. turned car off, then back on and the problem seemed to be fixed. called ford dealership and they said it sounds like my electronic throttle control as this is a common issue in my vehicle. this fix is not covered by warranty or recalled by ford. not only that but i was not notified by ford that this is a known issue and should get it fixed (as it nearly caused an accident on expressway). two days later same issue happened again. luckily no traffic was nearby as this may have caused yet another accident. *tr

Traveling approximately 70-75 mph on us highway vehicle lost power and entered into a limited power "limp home" mode, dropping engine to idle speed and causing a wrench light to activate on the dash and activation of "check engine" light. vehicle losing power nearly resulted in motor vehicle collision with other vehicles. after moving to shoulder of roadway and shutting off vehicle and turning it back on the problem corrected for approximately 2 miles where issue occurred again, this time at speeds approximately 60 mph. after shutting off and powering back on vehicle the problem again corrected for less than a mile. vehicle continued same problem after shutdown another 8 times within 5 miles. only roadside correction to issue was to remove negative battery cable to reset computer. after completing this task vehicle would run normally for approximately 10 miles where issue would return. vehicle was taken to shop where a diagnostic computer showed codes of p2112 and p2111, throttle actuator stuck open and throttle actuator stuck closed. required repair appears to be complete removal and replacement of electronic throttle body assembly. *tr

Going over 50 miles an hour car cut off on highway likely did not get killed by the car behind me. turned off then it restarted. now does it all the time. i took it to the dealer and they are saying it is a throttle body and i do have an extended warranty but they will not cover this. no one has this part shortage. *tr

I was accelerating after going through a traffic light and the car was not responsive to the acceleration. i looked down at instrument panel and noticed that the throttle controller/transmission light was lit up. i stepped on the gas more but the car just slowed down to the point where i had to move to the side of the road. i put the car in park, put the emergency flashers on and shut it off. when i turned the car on again, the instrument panel light was off and the car seemed to operate normally. on a separate note, i have noticed that the car clunks when reversing (once clunked so violently that the can of soda in the door flew up and splashed up the door) and occasionally there is acceleration hesitation from 2nd to third gear. *tr

I was traveling at 65mph down the freeway when there was a sudden jolt and the accelerator pedal stopped responding and the engine idled at 500-600 rpm. the engine and wrench lights came on. i slowly pulled over to the side of the road. the car was shaking badly. i turned the car off and restarted again and the problem went away. i took off but in less than 2 minutes it happened again. i had to tow the car to the dealer. turns out it's the electronic throttle body (part# ds7z9e926a) and they charged me $380 to replace it. this is a known issue with this make and model vehicle. i'm surprised ford issued a recall on "suspected" faulty wheel studs but not an issue as big as throttle body with numerous complaints. this is a very dangerous problem especially if it happens in heavy traffic or in the middle of an intersection. *tr

I have already filed a complaint about this issue - previous odi # 10499938. the car is in a forward motion when it all of a sudden loses all power when pressing on the gas pedal. it jerks, shimmies etc. and moves forward by inches or not at all. previously this has happened and i took the car to a dealer who put a "recorder" on it, and over 2-3 weeks went by and it never did it again. this was in late 2012, early 2013. now the weather has warmed up and starting on may 4, 2013 the car has done this same behavior every day at least 2x per day or more. we have it at the dealership who previously put the recorder on it ( and whom had a service person working there at the time hat told me he felt it was defective throttle body) . they just called us and told us they have now been able to get codes for the problem and it is a defective throttle body and it will cost us close to $700 to fix the problem. this is my first ford car and it will be my last if they don't take care of this under warranty. this problem is all over car websites and has been for some time. *tr

Vehicle seemed to stall, wrench warning light came on and then went off, shut off vehicle and restarted. could not get vehicle up to speed, seeming to stall again. called tow truck. *tr

Driving on interstate at highway speeds (65mph+), car suddenly lost power and slowed, shuddering as it stopped. difficult to restart, able to continue on driving for several miles before occurring again. had vehicle towed to ford dealer in the area for service. diagnosed as throttle body failure; dealer service has replaced throttle body as of 5/3/2013. *tr

I was just leaving the street from our subdivision during morning rush hour, made a right hand turn when there was a break in traffic and just as i was accelerating the engine just seemed to die. i was able to steer the car to the side of the street to get out of traffic and discovered that the car was still running at a rough idle and a "wrench" symbol showed up on my dash. when the traffic cleared i was able to back up into the street into our subdivision, got the car turned around and drove back to my house at less than 5mph. after letting the car set for a while i started it up and it ran fine. i then called a mechanic and explained what happened and asked him to check it out, which he agreed to do. during the drive to the mechanic the same problem occurred about 1/2 mile from his location and i was again able to get out of the flow of traffic and made it to his location. after leaving the car at his location i went on line to research if any other 2010 fusion owners had experienced the same problem and found that there were hundreds that had, many of whom contacted ford with no luck in getting them to acknowledge the problem. the problem appears to be associated with the throttle body assembly. i also called ford to discuss this with them and asked why they had not initiated a recall on this vehicle since so many people had this problem and it was what i considered to be an extreme safety hazards for drivers when this happened. i was told that this was not an issue for which a recall notice had been initiated. i have had ford products for over 40 years and was very surprised that this was the kind of response i got. i am surprised that someone has not initiated a class action suit against them for this problem since it is such a serious safety hazard. *tr

Was on the interstate, wrench light came on, car lost power and began jerking. i could not accelerate. in the past 2 months, my original throttle body went bad, number 2 was bad, and number 3 was bad. now i am on throttle body number 4, which i bought new from a dealership in california. it took days to find it, as new throttle bodies are on a national back order. i wonder why? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving 55 mph without warning. the service engine light illuminated after the failure occurred. the failure was experienced several times; however, the vehicle regained some acceleration after it was restarted, but continued to stall during acceleration. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing and the throttle body system was reset; however, the failure was not corrected. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 63,000 and the current mileage was 64,000.

Advisory mechanical wrench lit up on dash - loss all acceleration power. had to coast off side of road and place transmission in park - and turn off low idle engine. this occurred 3 x's all similar this same day. prior, had complained to auto dealership about 1st couple incidents (approx) 4 other times; they indicated they found no issue. i will have codes read 1st thing in the morning, by autozone looking for p2111 and p2112 - then take it to the dealership. this is very unsafe - and now i am worried to have my wife drive alone with this vehicle. its our only car. *tr

The first incident occurred a few months ago. as i was accelerating from a stopped position at a stop light, the car's engine seemed to lose power and wrench light came on. i rolled to a stop at the corner of the intersection, and put the vehicle in park. in park, the engine began to shake so, i turned the vehicle off. after a minute i turned the vehicle back on, the car seemed to run fine afterwards with no check engine light. yesterday (4/30/13), the car stalled again. this time i was going 40 mph and had to pull promptly to shoulder to avoid being hit by the unsuspecting driver behind me. i turned off the engine and restarted the car. i was able to go a few feet before the car stalled again. this time the check engine light came on, and i was unable to operate the vehicle above 900 rpms. i had the car towed to a ford dealership who said i needed a new throttle body assembly. the car had around 38,000 miles at the time of incident. upon research, i discovered this is a know problem, and ford has yet to issue a recall to prevent future crashes and injury. something needs to be done!! *tr

My car started to stall and went into limp home mode. it immediately went to 1000 rpms and lost all power. the engine light came on. i had to go across all lanes of traffic on a busy highway and almost got hit. a commonly known problem with the throttle body is the most likely cause. *tr

I was driving and suddenly the car had gone limp as if it was losing power. the wrench light comes on and i immediately pulled over to the side of the road while my car began jerking. i shut off the engine then restarted and the wrench light had gone off and the car drove fine. the next day it happened again. i decided to take it to the ford dealership and on my way there the car stalled out on me twice more while on the highway enroute to the dealership. i was informed that the throttle body needs to be replaced. it will cost me somewhere around $400 and the parts (throttle body) are on back order by the manufacturer and the ford dealership says that they do not know when they are to be expected in from the manufacturer. i called around to different autopart stores and other ford repair shops and everyone is saying the same thing. no one knows when the part will be available by the manufacturer. this tells me that this is a huge problem for these parts to be on back order and no one is absorbing the costs for a rental car while ford try work on the problem. such a horrible time to own a ford fusion right now. i will never buy another ford vehicle again. it's like they do not even car about their consumers. soooo disappointing. *tr

My wife was accelerating through an intersection and car stalled. luckily an oncoming vehicle was able to swerve out of way and my wife was able to steer the car to the shoulder. it would not restart and i came and switched cars with her. after 5 minutes it started and i was able to drive home after 4-5 more stalls on my 2 mile ride home. stalled on way to dealer on monday and they advised needed to replace a throttle body at a cost of over $500. only had car for 35 mths but since over miles the warranty wouldn't cover it. after checking with other mechanics was able to see about 32 other incidents that required same repair on 2010 fusion 2.5l engine. but when spoke with a ford area mgr they claimed would do nothing and there is no issues with this car or part? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning while driving at 65 mph. the wrench light illuminated after the failure occurred. the contact was able to coast to the shoulder. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where the failure could not be diagnosed but the dealer found transmission fluid had leaked at the driver front tire area and also stated that the throttle body needed to be replaced. the dealer replaced the transmission and the brake fluid but the failure was not corrected. the contact also wanted to state that the vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times for unknown electrical failures. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was vehicle 57,000. updated 08/27/13*lj the consumer stated while driving, the vehicle lost power to the wheels and the ability to steer became very difficult. the accelerator pedal became unresponsive. she was able to get to vehicle over to the side of the road, after she pulled over, the vehicle began to shake before she turned the engine off. also, the wrench indicator light illuminated.

I was driving my 2010 ford fusion on the interstate, at approximately 70 miles per hour, when i started feeling it "surge". it was in cruise control at the time, and it felt like it was surging up a couple of mph over the set point, and then falling back a couple of mph below the set point. it was like the cruise was hunting for the set speed. suddenly, there was a lurch and i lost all power from the engine. cruise disconnected and i started coasting down rapidly. there was very nearly a rear-end collision with the guy behind me as i was losing speed so quickly. there was a yellow wrench icon lit on my dashboard, but no check engine light. i managed to cost over to the right shoulder. when i stopped and put it in park, the engine ran extremely roughly. it stumbled and missed like it wasn't getting any air. i shut the engine off, waited a minute, refired it, and it ran perfectly. we continued our trip and had it looked at when we got back. or local ford dealer said "there are no stored codes, it didn't do it for us, and there isn't anything wrong." this has happened several times to me and every time the dealer says the same thing. 2 minutes worth of googling shows that there seems to be a massive problem with the throttle bodies that ford has on these cars. we need a recall! we could have been injured or killed in a wreck on the interstate when this happened. *tr

I purchased a 2010 ford fusion 2 years ago and i have been happy with it up until just recently. the other morning i was on my way to the gym and the car lost total power, sputtered then just died. it started up right away and i was able to make it back home. needless to say, it had to go to the dealer and the problem has been diagnosed as a throttle body problem. apparently this has been very common in this year of the fords. it is extremely upsetting as if this had happened when i was on the freeway, it could have been a real problem. the total cost for the repairs was 600.00. i really hope ford places a recall on these throttle bodies, this is a dangerous situation. I was driving to work, as i was passing a vehicle, my car cut out at around 70 mph. after my engine cut and the wrench light came on, i tried to accelerate and was not able to accelerate the car. i pulled off to the shoulder and turned the car off and restarted the car. as i was restarting, the car took a little extra cranks to turn over. upon restarting, the wrench light went off and the card drove fine. *tr

1st incident: car stalled in traffic while going 40 mph, coasted into parking lot, restarted car and drove fine - no warning lights 2nd incident: 6 weeks later with no issues or warning lights car stalled again late at night while going 35 mph up a small rise 3rd incident: 2 days later - still no warning lights, car suddenly lost power, did not stall, but would not go over 5 mph while entering attempting to enter interstate. sat on side of interstate for 45 minutes waiting on a tow truck. i had the car towed to a ford dealership. they replaced the throttle body which cost $385. the notes on the invoice state they "retrieved code p2111 throttle system stuck open." i feel certain ford has some serious issues with these cars as the transmission has already had to be rebuilt.
