We have classified the 205 complaints from 2004 Ford F-150 about VISIBILITY into the following categories.
2004 ford f150 power windows (regulator) fail. there is a "pop" and then they simply free fall into the door. 3 out of 4 windows have failed. the first 2 years ago, the other 2 in the last 4 months. a quick internet search shows this is an extremely common problem. the number of failures indicates a faulty design rather than routine wear and maintenance. ford should cover replacement/repair cost. *tr
My 2004 ford f150 driver side front window quit moving up and down with use of the button. it still makes noise, but does move. the window does move down on its own, whenever it wants to. after researching the problem on "google", apparently, it is a very common problem with this year and model of truck. i contacted ford, and got the runnaround about them not knowing of any issues like this one. they will not fix it, unless someone makes them put out a recall. i do not have near enough money to fix this right now and am worried about it falling down while driving, especially in bad weather. it also makes it very easy for someone to break into my truck. *tr
As i pulled out of the parking lot at my job i heard my passenger side window slide down into the door. this is the second window on my truck that this has happen too. im sure it wont be very long before the back two windows have the same problem. in order to repair the problem (which is the regulator that breaks) i had to take my vehicle to the local dealer to get it repaired. the cost for repair was $350.00 plus dollars. as i am a hard working parent it is very difficult to have to spend money in these tough economic times on a problem that ford should be responsible for. this is a very serious problem as it would make it very easy to break into my vehicle if this problem were to occur at night or damage my vehicle if this problem were to occur in the rain. i often pick up my kids from school and if this problem were to happen while they were in the vehicle the my become subject to the elements of the environment an become sick or injured. please help us to get ford to issue a recall to repair this problem. thanks, signed a concerned american *tr
4th power window failure on ford f150. windows just dropped. *tr
Driver & passenger windows fell down into the door while driving on 2 separate occasions. just heard a loud crack when the window gave out and dropped with full force into the door. was on a trip driving through rain/hail storm when passenger window gave out. ford will not replace as it is out of warranty and new parts ordered and replaced. *tr
I have a 2004 ford f-150 lariat. i was driving on a highway at 60 miles per hour when the driver side window fell into the door all by itself - i had not hit the window switch. i took the door apart and found that the window regulator was damaged in that the plastic clips holding the cable had broken. inspection of the clips indicate that they are woefully underdesigned to handle the stress from the weight of the window and the force put on them from the torque of the window motor. as stated, this happened at 60 mph just as it was starting to rain. i was able to get to shelter before the serious rain fell, but had this happened during a serious rainstorm, it would have been a very dangerous situation. research on-line indicates that this is a very common failure and has been happening since the introduction of the 2004 model. i contacted ford and was told that they will do nothing to fix as they have not been required to recall by nhtsa. this is a very dangerous and recurrent problem and i implore nhtsa to please do something to force ford to address the issue before someone is seriously injured!! *tr
2004 ford f-150 power window regulator broke. checking on line i found numerous complaints on this defective part. ford still has not done a recall on this product. *tr
Rear passenger side window was sliding down. power window would not work. can hear screeching sounds when trying to use power window. removed door panel and found wire all in side the door. the motor and regulator needs to be replaced. *tr
Both rear window regulators have failed within months of each other. my vehicle is a 2004 ford f-150 crew cab pickup truck. i understand this is a recurring problem with these vehicles. *tr
I have a 2004 ford f150. three weeks ago the drivers side electric window made a terrible noise and fell into the door and would not come back up. now, yesterday august 31st the back seat drivers side window has done the same thing. i transport my grandchildren alot, they ride in the back seat, in safety seats as requested by law. i do not understand why the safety seats are any different then the possibility of flying glass from a defective window. there needs to be a recall on this. secondly, i call and make a report with ford, hoping that i can get some resolve. they forward a case and case number to my local dealer where i did purchase this vehicle brand new. i was just told by the service manager that they can not help me, the reasoning behind the decision i was told i do not bring my vehicle in often enough for them to service. well, when i needed tires they wanted over $600.00 i got them for $400.00. when my oil needs to be change i take it to walmart because it is cheaper, i am sorry that i didn't take it to the dealership but when you have been unemployed since january of 2009 you have to save wherever you can. so now, because i tried to save money, so that i can survive the current economic times i am being punished again. i think this is ridiculous. the safety of my grandchildren is the utmost importance to me and my husband. something needs to be done so no innocent children get hurt because they are worried about the almighty dollar. i understand they haven't taken stimulus money and hurrah for them but they need to be responsible in this matter. *tr
I have a 2004 ford f150 and today my 4th window regulator broke and it sounded like someone had shot a gun at the truck while i was driving it and i almost had an accident, i have been online looking for a recall unfortunately there have not been recalled. i could have easily ran in the back of someone due to the loud bang, this is the fourth window that did it. now i have four windows that's not operating. it needs to be recalled asap! *tr
Rear driver side window (supercrew f150) fell into door after window regulator cable system failed while driving down the street. the window motor was not being operated at the time of incident. *tr
Driving around my neighborhood with temperatures in the high 90's low 100's and i decided to roll up my passenger side window i rolled it up and i heard a loud pop or snap and the window slipped down into the door as i was driving. it will not stay up unless i use tape to keep it up. it is obvious how dangerous this could have been were i driving in the rain or snow on the highway or at any speed really the loudness of the pop was quite concerning and distracting. *tr
The window regulators failed on 3 of the 4 windows on our 2004 ford f150 truck causing the windows to fall abruptly and drop down into the door panels. the windows no longer stay up at all and there is no way to prop them up internally. the windows now leak when it rains. you cannot go over a pothole, bump or even go the speed limit on the highway without the windows falling down again. *tr
Riding down the road and heard a loud pop. afterwards, my passenger window began to slide down. my son drives the same model 2004 f-150 ford triton xlt truck and it was the window regulator. approx. cost to repair was $350.00. the noise was so loud it caused me to jump and jerk the steering wheel. *tr
Drivers side window regulator failed, window 'fell' while vehicle in motion. electric window now is inoperable. ford will not fix under warr, or recall. part if very expensive and not a re-designed part, still original equip, faulty design. i cannot and willnot put the same type of part back in, so my window has been made to stay in the upright position. i believe it's a safety hazard to not be able to have a functioning window. and there are three other window that could fail at any moment. *tr
Driving on the freeway my drivers door window starting coming down on its. i looked to see what was going on next thing it came crashing down and all i heard was glass shatter. not a good thing to happen driving down the freeway. *tr
2004 ford f-150 drivers side window motor sounds like it is working but window did not go up, it started to slide down had to prop up with a stick so window would be shut. i see there are many complaints about this issue. *tr
2004 ford f150 power window regulator failed, the loud pop of the break nearly caused me to run off the road, and now my window will not stay up. i will be replacing this myself, if i can find parts available. *tr
I was driving down the road, heard a huge "pop" like a gun and both my rear windows started to creep down slowly. i took my door panels off and to my amazement my window cables are off the pulley system on both sides. i have secured my windows in the up position using tape and have been advised that both window regulators need to be replaced costing approx. 800 dollars. *tr
While driving home on the highway my right rear window came crashing down. my 8 year-old daughter was sitting next to the window and she screamed. this is the 4th time this has happened. i know the window regulator has gone out. now i have an appointment to have the window repaired again!!! i am told it is a wear and tear item. having all windows in you vehicle drop at any moment and any speed it not normal. i have never had this happen with any other vehicle. when the window drops it is loud, causes you to over correct thinking you have a flat or hit something and any loose papers you have in the vehicle start flying around. thankfully we didn't have a wreck and this is the fourth time i am having to pay for a repair that should be recalled. note: this is not on a window that is opened/closed very often. *tr
2004 ford f-150 super-crew. i was turning left on a major intersection. heard a loud crack and my driver-side window fell from sight. it startled me enough to make me swerve. window regulator failure. incident date - july 27, 2010 repair is expensive. searching for a cheaper option than the dealer. i have concern of this happening again. *tr
2004 ford f150 window falling. on july 27, 2010 i attempted to roll down my rear driver side window while driving, upon doing this there was a loud pop. i attempted roll the window back up but when i pushed the up button nothing happened. i was able to push the down button only to hear a grinding noise. my truck mileage is a little over 87k. *tr
Rear window failure- 2004 f150 there are thousands of these complaints on the net and ford does nothing. 115 in arizona and air can't keep up with a window that won't stay up. if my young sons dies because of the heat then it will be to late, then ford will be paying big time. *tr
3 months ago my rear passenger window on my 2004 f-150 failed and came crashing down, ford refuses to replace it, now my driver door window has done the same thing and almost caused me to wreck due to startling me, ford refuses to address the issue due to a faulty regulator in the door or defective. something needs to be done about this immediately. this is a safety issue due to the window just crashing down while your driving. *tr
2004 ford f-150 drivers door window regulator suddenly failed and window fell down inside the door without any way to put window back up while driving down the road. of course it was raining. after taking door apart i was able to get the window 3/4 of the way up but could not get it to go all of the way. 65k miles on truck. after doing research on this i guess that i was lucky that it lasted as long as it did. looks like that ford has a design problem with this part and should be recalled. definitely a safety hazard when it fails and you can't get or keep window up. *tr
2004 ford f150 rear passenger side window regulator broke causing the window to fall to the bottom while i was on the highway..had a kid in the car he was scared to death. i had the same issue with my drivers side from less than 1 year ago. this is out of control. *tr
We were riding down the local interstate with trailer in tow when the drivers side window fell down. this is the 2nd time this has occurred on this vehicle. first incident occurred with the back passengers window. thanks to good effort and driving experience no accident occurred in either incident. ford dealer will acknowledge there is an issue with the window regulator but will not replace them. *tr
This is the third time one of my 2004 f150 window regulator failed and my window fell open. this is a safety issue that exposes the vehicle occupants to weather conditions and potential theft. drivers with children or animals pose additional risk with an open window. *tr
2004 ford f150 power window regulators have fail 5 times! window falls down inside of door it happened once driving on the highway in pouring down rain! *tr
1. the door window quits working and gets stuck in the down position. the first time it happened was while i was driving. it just went down and stayed there. it happened again today while in my driveway. i went to roll up the window because it was about to start raining and it wouldn't roll up. the problem is the power window regulator. 2. the failure occurred twice. once about a year ago on the drivers side, and today the passengers side. both times i had to take the door panel apart and manually move the window up and prop it up with a board in case it rained. i had to do the same thing today. luckily i was at home and had a canopy to work under while it was raining. i've been lucky both times, but it could be a safety issue if it fails again or the back windows fail while on the freeway during the rain. 3. i had the window regulator replaced. *tr
1. driving on major freeway in my 2004 ford f150 when i here a pop and turn around and notice my back window missing, 2 weeks later i hear the same pop and notice my front side passenger window was sliding down. 1 month after that im riding alone and my driver side passenger window would not work on command. now im riding in my car with 3 windows not working. i have paper holding my windows up as i called ford and was told it would cost me 420 per window to repair not including tax. i also was told to expect my 4th window to go out as well. *tr
I was driving on a main road. i had just rolled my passenger rear window. then i heard a loud bang, i thought something had hit my back door. this startled me and caused me to swerve and almost hit another car. i stopped and looked back and saw that the same window i had just rolled up was all the way down. *tr
2004 ford f-150 window regulator failure. *tr
2004 ford f150 supercrew cab, less than 65,000 miles just had my 4th window regulator fail. (window stuck down) only one was under covered under the factory warranty. this part (window regualtor) is obviously defective. *tr
Right rear window fell down into inside of door and two weeks later the left rear window did the same thing. both times i had people in the back seat. *tr
I own a 2004 ford f150 triton xlt. in less than a year, both the front driver and front passenger windows have become inoperable. the window regulator has to be replaced. i have researched this and found it to be a very common problem and feel ford should be doing a recall on this. the first window has been fixed, we are in the process of getting the part for a second one now. each repair at a ford dealer costs more than $400.00. *tr
I have a 2004 f-150 4 door lariat, i have replaced three window registers in the last 6 months, this should not happen. is there some kind of recall that can be done or at least a revised window register that will last more than a couple of months. *tr
I have a 2004 ford f150 lariat super crew cab. in the past 2 years i have had to have the power switches and regulators replaced in three doors on my truck. the latest being friday, july 16, 2010. i have looked on numerous sites on the internet and see that this is a common problem with this truck. i called ford and they say it is not a problem from their standpoint. this is a very costly problem to repair and should be considered a safety hazard. *tr
2004 f 150 rear passenger window slams down without warning. this is the second time, first time it was the front passenger side during the winter blizzard of 2010 and now during july 2010. what is it going to take before the government make ford recall/repair this problem? death? just think if you were on a dark and lonely road and you had a love one (child) in your vehicle and this happen. so far, over $1000, loss of work and confidence in this american made truck. *tr
My 2004 f-150 lariat has had 4 of the 5 electric window regulators fail over the past 14 months. when these regulators fail the window loses all support and drops, unabated, into the door frame of the vehicle with a loud crash. today it occurred on one of the rear windows where my infant daughter was sitting. it terrified her as we were on the interstate in a south florida thunderstorm. this is a known defect and ford charges between $350 and $400 to replace. i was lucky not to have crashed from the sudden scare. *tr
Its all the windows, at first it started about a year or so ago, its was the driver side, then it was the passenger side, then two days it was driver side rear..you can be going down the road, all the sudden the window just falls down. its done it fast, on one, slow on one, you think you've hit the button, but it falls down in door. in rain or hail storm, couldn't have to be sun shining... its regulator & motor, ford should recall that item faulty design.... *tr
Passenger side window on my 2004 f150 lariat came crashing down when i went to roll down the window today. googled the problem and have found out hundreds of complaints have been made. recall please! better parts! *tr
We have a 2004 ford f-150. we are now having to replace the 3rd out of 4 window regulators because of failure. there is nothing leading up to the failure. just one day, we roll the window down and it won't roll back up or it will only partially roll up. we have now spent about $600 replacing the parts, approximately $200 a piece. please consider recalling this part on the 2004 ford f-150 trucks. *tr
The drivers side window of my 2004 ford f150 fell out due to a faulty regulator. *tr
We own a ford f150 lariat super crew 4 door. the drivers side window's motor popped and made almost a gun shot sound that alarmed my husband and while he was driving he was on the highway and it was raining. this was in the beginning of 2009. well july 6, 2010 the passenger's window did the same thing and it was raining again. this time my husband was parked. many of our friends that own this ford f150 have had the same problem. we want ford to be responsible for this faulty cheap motor and replace all of them. we have 4 doors. we have already replaced 1 and about to fix the 2nd door. along with the window motor failing the rotors on the brakes were defective. ford replaced them once but stated that in the future we will have more problems with this and we would have to pay for them. this is not fixing the problem. ford sucks and we will never buy another ford anything. infact never buy another american car. the imports last longer and stand by their vehicles. this explains why the american auto industry is going out of business. we want ford to take responsibility. thank you. *tr
Ford 2004 f-150 xlt passenger side window fails to roll up. had the driver's side window repaired under warranty for the same problem. only have 7314 miles on the vehicle which i purchased new in 2004. dealer refuses to fix the problem without charge as an obvious product defect that has been reported by numerous other 2004-2005 f-150 owners. *tr
Power window regulator failure in 2004 ford f-150 xlt. while driving on highway, window came down about four inches and would not go back up. two miles later, window went completely down and would not go back up. motor still operates but makes a grinding sound. have found more than 1,000 complaints about window regulators in the 2004 f-150. *tr
I have a 2004 ford f150. recently the drivers window fell to the bottom of the door. after some research i have found that the window regulator has failed. upon further research i found that this has happened to a lot of other people, so i am reporting this problem to you. *tr
F150 drivers side window regulator broke and window crashed down. *tr
