We have classified the 205 complaints from 2004 Ford F-150 about VISIBILITY into the following categories.
2004 ford f150 window regulator failures...multiple times..several months apart. the window comes crashing down and is totally open. i have dogs that ride with me. this has got to be fixed by ford. *tr
While driving at highway speed the rear passenger window droped, at that time my grandson (3) taught it would be ok to throw his socker ball out. the ball bounced of a car behind me but no damage but scared the driver almost causing an accident. this is a big problem, windows should not drop like that good thing weather was good, i can only imagine if it had been raining the other car would have not been able to stop causing a major accident and i would be getting seud. this issue needs fixing by ford because is not an isoleted problem thousands are having the same problem. window not fixed yet still researching for parts. *tr
I have just had my second incidence of a window regulator snapping in my 2004 ford f150. i was just rolling my electric window up as i was getting my truck washed today, september 4, 2010, and a horrendous pop was heard by me and bystanders outside the vehicle, and the window then slid down into the door panel. i have barely over 70,000 miles on the truck now, and the first incidence occurred at 64,273. the first fix cost me $337.66 for the rear driver side, and today's failure happened to the passenger rear. that's twice in 6000 miles. i am forced to drive my other vehicle to as i my vehicle is now unsecure since the window cannot be closed. the first failure was due to the cable snapping, and the same scary sound happened today so i can only conclude that the same part failure occurred today. ford will not fix the vehicle nor the issue which has caused numerous f150 owners to lose out on wages lost to hours missed at work and money paid to have their expensive vehicle back in operating order. ford has offered to let me buy a new part, at my expense, and pay them over $200 labor to replace. *tr
While raising the front passenger window of my 2004 ford f150 truck, i heard a loud bang and the window dropped. the window could not be raised. from the stand point of safety, the wind noise driving at highway speeds creates a distraction and contributes to driver fatigue. if the failure occurs in heavy traffic at highway speeds, there is the real potential for the driver to be startled to the point of failure to retain control of the vehicle. from a physical security stand point, passengers, pets and personal property are all at risk if the vehicle cannot be secured. the only previous problem with power windows in this vehicle were with the rear window. *tr
The passenger side power window in my 2004 f-150 lariat fell off the track and into the door. i am unable to roll the window back up. *tr
2004 ford f150 crew cab front window fell in door almost caused a accident because my wife and son were in the truck during rain storm .this is the third time i have had to fix the windows on this truck. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 ford f-150. the contact stated that the windows regulators had become inoperable and the contact was unable to close the windows. the vehicle was repaired several times for the same failure and the failure recurred on all four windows. the dealer was notified of the failure and advised that the cause of the failure was the window regulator. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 25,000 and the current mileage was 49,000.
Driving on highway my wife heard a pop then about half hour later the passenger window just drops down into the door cavity. found out on the internet that it is a recurring problem with the ford pickup window regulator mechanism that is defective. took vehicle into a window repair shop and he diagnosed it needing a new window regulator replacement installed. he patched us up to get us home for now, its a holiday weekend and so no possibility of getting the part fast and we are away from home visiting relatives. *tr
While driving on the freeway, i hear a loud bang from my drivers door. i thought somebody had hit me or threw something at my vehicle. i lost focus of my driving to see what was happening around me. then my drivers window dropped and this scared me and cause me to swerve. i have researched and found that the window regulators on my vehicle are failing all the time. this happened a month ago and i now have three of my four windows with the same problem. i have had to take my doors apart and permanently fix my windows in the up position as i cannot afford the replacement window regulators. now with my windows in the up position i hope i don't need to get out or them for any unforeseen incident. *tr
2004 ford f-150 window regulator failed window droped scared the driver. *tr
Window regulator broke window dropped inside the door. *tr
2004 ford f150 lariat 4door. right rear power window. third time power window has failed. each time my family was on a road trip and the window came crashing down into the door. thankfully nothing was broken. however weather was raining and the amount of rain entering the vehicle made it impossible to drive. *tr
Window on driver side fell during driving and caused distraction and near accident. appears the regulator cable(s) failed and window fell to bottom of door. truck is used for normal city driving not a work truck. dealer to repair at my cost. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 ford f-150. the contact stated the power window switch continuously failed and was replaced a total of four times. the failure most recently recurred but the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for repairs and the manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. the failure mileage was 89,000 and the current mileage was 99,000.
I have a 2004 ford f150 and my driver side window failed due to my regulator going out. i was driving down the interstate and it just fell and frightened me and i almost lost control of my truck. by checking online this has become a big issue with other 2004-2008 ford f150 owners. *tr
2004 f150 sc window regulator failure. i am on my third regulator in the drivers door now. yesterday i found the passenger window down and i have the truck in ford dealership now for repair. i have started using the old reliable "club" on the steering wheel to keep from having my truck stolen when the window regulator breaks and the window is down allowing anyone to enter my truck even when i have closed all the windows and locked it when i exit. *tr
I own a 2004 ford f150 and have had 3 window regulator failures, 2 while driving. the dangerous one was on the drivers side at night during a rain storm. ford dealer states he replaces 1-2 a week but is not yet a recall. he says it wont get a recall until someone dies. i think it is a known dangerous problem that ford needs to take care of but wont until a recall is mandatory. please recall this problem before "someone dies" and "only then" mandates a recall. thank you for your time. *tr
Broken window regulator on both driver's and passenger side windows on 2004 ford f-150. *tr
Window regulator failed and window fell into the door. caused me to be distracted - actually thought that something had hit me. this is also 2nd window to fail like this! *tr
Front passenger side window suddenly dropped for no reason. *tr
Seems everyone is having to replace window regulators on 2004 and 2005 f150 trucks. i just had my 3rd one fall down today i've seen all over the net and have friends that seem to have the same problem i think ford should own up to this problem and also repay for the problems. *tr
Window regulator on 2004 f150 has failed. this is now the 3rd position that has failed. *tr
Was driving home from work and my rear driver's side window dropped to the bottom for no apparent reason. i don't even use the window much. pulled off door cover and found cable apart and wound and tangled behind motor. called my buddy to see if he had it happen to his and before i could say anything he said he just came in from cramming a board in his rear widow make it home. they seem to be really poorly made. *tr
My ford f150 2004 power window regulator broke while i was driving. not only did it scare me because of slamming down so hard, it made me swerve off the road. thank god i got safely over, but was so shaken i had to wait before proceeding. it was l09 degrees that day and had to drive with the window broken and down. i know many people have had this problem with this model and year, why haven't you done anything about this. it is a safety issue that needs to be addressed to all consumers who own or going to own this auto. i can't afford to fix it now, they want nearly 400.00. i am so afraid my truck is going to get stolen, but what can i do? i also worry that when i park my truck in a public parking area, that someone may easily take my truck with me in it!!!!!!!!! *tr
I own a 2004 f150 super crew truck and i have had to replace the regulators in three of my windows because they are defective and they almost made me wreck my truck because two of them fell in heavy traffic and sounded like someone had shot it out and i know it is just a matter of time before the fourth one falls, ford needs to have a recall and repair and replace those regulators before lives are lost and the cost to replace the regulators is outrageous. i would not recommend anyone to purchase a ford f-150 because you don't stand behind work. please recall these trucks and replace these faulty regulators for the safety of our families and repair the good name ford use to have with its customers. *tr
2004 ford f-150. so far 3 out of 4 window regulators have failed causing the window to drop into the door. this is a security and safety issue. twice the windows failed while driving. the rear window failed while my young daughter was in the back seat and i had to continue travel while wind was blowing on her. my driver side window just failed while driving and startled me enough that i almost wrecked. this is a very expensive repair and the ford dealership even admits that a recall should be issued since they have to do this repair so often. *tr
My window regulator gave out for the 3rd time this year i cant afford to pay $200+ dollars to replace a part that wont be sold with out motor so that they can charge more on my 2004 ford f150 supercrew..... *tr
I have 2004 ford f150 supercrew with approximately 73,000 miles. three windows have failed due to broken plastic parts associated with the window regulator. *tr
I purchased a used 2004 f-150 truck 3-months ago and it was parked in the driveway for 2-days. upon opening the driver door i noticed the passenger window was in the down position and would not raise. my ford dealer indicated the plastic parts on the regulator had failed and dropped the window inside the door. i don't understand why. noone was opening or closing the passenger door or attempting to raise or lower the window. had this happened while the vehicle was moving or next to a passenger, the results could have been catastrophic. when i park and lock my truck, i don't expect the windows to fall out or down into the doors. this then becomes a personal safety issue and provides an opportunity for theft or vandalism of the vehicle. the plastic parts are obviously cheaper to use and not engineered for the stresses on them or the weight of the window. i'm out $458.00 in repair bills for a single window repair. two ford service advisors i spoke with said they had never heard of the problem on a ford. it's all over the internet but they have no knowledge of the problem? there should either be a formal recall or ford should make the repairs at no cost and substitute metal clips and parts rather than using plastic. reimbursement for past repairs should also be included. i'm thankful my vehicle was neither robbed or vandalized and that i discovered the problem before the storm hit my area. undiscovered, there could have been serious interior water damage in addition to the window repair. *tr
For the third time in one year i have replaced the regulator/motor on three different windows. i was on the interstate at the time and was startled when it happened. it concerns me that this continues to happen and i am glad i am generally calm so it did not cause an accident. *tr
2004 ford f-150 driver's side window popped loudly and snapped down to fully open position. *tr
Window of 2004 ford f150 falls down into door causing loud sudden crash almost causing accident. *tr
2004 ford f150 power window regulator failure. driver side and passenger side. had driver side repair by ford about $400. now passenger side failed. *tr
I have a 2004 ford f150 and the window suddenly dropped and know ford is telling me that i have to pay $450 to fix my window regulator. the motor still works but they are making me buy the regulator and motor. this is not the first time this has happened to me or my other friends that have ford trucks. it is a safety problem that ford needs to step up and take responsibility . *tr
I was driving my 2004 f150 when the passenger side window disappeared i thought the window was shot out by a gun and just about crashed into other cars on the free way this is just junk if they fall down at will. *tr
2004 f-150 3 of the 4 power window regulators have failed. two within a 5 day period while the vehicle was parked. the windows fall to the bottom into the door, this could be a very dangerous situation if a child or pet had been leaning on these windows. i demand a recall as i understand thousands of these regulators have failed and i want this situation resolved before someone is seriously injured or killed. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 ford f-150. the contact stated that both rear window regulators were broken. he replaced one previously at his own expense and now the other one was broken. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 38,000.
2004 ford f150. electric windows will fall down into doors. passenger and driver side window have fallen within 5 months. 32,000 miles. have to replace cables that hold windows. *tr
Window regulator failure, i have a 2004 ford f-150 with 45000 miles on it, so far i have had to replace 4 window regulators @ $500 a pop, the 5th one went out today. i wasn't even using the window, just driving down the freeway and bang! a loud noise i thought something hit the truck, then i looked back and the window had fallen. talk about economic loss. ford doesn't seem to care. this is a hazard as well, what has to happen do you have to have a small child or pet could fall out and get killed. i looked and there are a lot of complaints about this same issue. something needs to be done! *tr
All side windows in my 2004 f150 crew cab are failing. a window will randomly fall into door body with no warning. last failure nearly caused an accident due to the distraction and poor weather conditions at the time. *tr
1. when rolling my passenger window up i heard a loud pop and the window fell back down into the door. 2. now my window wont roll up and the cable on the main pulley is wrapped around the pulley axle and is kinked in several places. 3. i am having to buy a whole new regulator and maybe even a new motor for my door just so i can keep the water and bugs out of my truck and the air in. *tr
I have a ford f-150 that the right rear window and sliding electrical window have failed. the dealership wants to charge me almost $800.00 to fix it. the biggest cost is supposedly the labor for the rear sliding window. as i reviewed the complaints it is quite obvious that this is a common problem. i have owned four fords and all have had similar problems. ford should step up and reengineer these components. *tr
Three of the four window regulators have broke causing safety and security issues. the parts are expensive and defective. the malfunction occurs when driving down the road or even when the vehicle is parked. we hear a popping noise like somebody threw something at the truck and then the window falls into the door. we have three young children and this poses a large safety risk to them. these parts are obviously defective and should be replaced by ford motor company for free. *tr
power windows breaking. driver window made a loud pop and window fell inside door. 1 week later the same thing happened on passenger side after window started to make a grinding noise. the two rear windows are now making the same grinding noise. have not repaired yet because it cost to much to fix. *tr
I have a 2004 f150 supercrew. i purchased this vehicle new. i have replaced the power window regulator on 3 of the 4 windows after immediate and catastrophic failure. without warning, the regulator fails and the window simply plummets into the door. it has been a miracle the glass has never shattered it falls so hard. once it happened when closing a door, once while traveling down the highway, and a third time while sitting in the driveway overnight. my 4th regulator just failed yesterday while driving in town. it would be very easy to imagine a situation where this would present a very serious safety issue. inclement weather all of a sudden being blown into the cab. children or pets sitting next to the window when it fails, materials from inside the cab being blown out, etc. not to mention the potential theft issue when it occurs just sitting in a parking lot or on the street. ford should recall these window regulators and reimburse everyone who has had to deal with faulty regulators since the problem first came to light. i am listing the last incident as the "date" but they have been failing at a pace of every 6 - 18 months. *tr
Passenger rear window fell down into the door while parked. pushing the switch to both up and down did not accomplish anything. inspection of the problem seems to indicate that the regulator has broken. by reviewing the internet, it appears that this is a recurring problem with this vehicle. there was no indication that the part might fail. its total failure was the first indication of any problem. i will take to the dealer to have it fixed and retain the old parts. *tr
My driver side window regulator starting making noise and failed and my window fell to the bottom of the door. *tr
I parked my 04 f150 in a public parking lot, locked it, and shut the door. i heard a popping sound, turned around and my drivers side passenger window was down. i opened the passenger door, and the window had fallen down in the door. i tried to roll it up and it did nothing but make a grinding noise. from what i've read, it has happened to countless ford pick ups. i can't afford to fix yet, so i have a piece of wood wedged in the door to hold the window in place. there really should be a recall on this defect. *tr
My cable just snapped while driving and window came down causing me to panic. almost hit other car in other lane. *tr
Driver's side window fell down into the door while driving. it cost $373.60 to fix the window regulator assembly. ford would not pay for the repair. research on the internet proves this to be a fairly common problem with f-150's. *tr
