Instrument cluster gauges and lights go haywire. radio shuts off, security light comes on and alarm sounds. speedo and tach continue to work fine. *tr

Instrument cluster went dead - heater thermostat went out and drivers side is stuck on heat and won't shut off - sending the trailblazer to obama and gov.'t motors - no chance it will ever get fixed since obama bought off the union! *tr

There are several defects on chevy trail blazers mine in particular is with the instrument cluster panel because it stopped recording the speed, amount of gas in my vehicle, essential to driving safety, proper speed maintenance and ensuring it wont stall out due to lack of gas in the vehicle while on the freeway at high speeds. in addition the night lights turn off randomly while driving at night and that is dangerous to me and my children when driving at night which i do often to commute home from work. there are different dates for the defects the cluster panel gage was proximately 6 or 8 months old, the manufacturer was contacted they stated it was not hazardous to my driving and that since it was not under warranty due to being a 2004 the best they could do was 10% off, i felt it was a hazard at the time of the report they fixed an issue with the turn signals but now my headlights are turning on and off randomly at night and it is scary to be driving at night and your lights go off and you cant see a thing. the lights have been malfunctioning for the last 3 to 4 months have not reported it because of the lack of response by the manufacturer with prior issue. *tr

Speedometer quit working while i was driving. i had slowed down because the speed limit slowed and the speedometer just stayed at the same speed. we pulled over and stopped and it stayed at 60. we turned the car off and then started it again. the speedometer did not move. it has now been over a week and has stayed at 80 and does not go back to zero. *tr

Speedometer started giving incorrect readings. sometimes it is correct, sometimes 10 mph off, sometimes not working at all. when it first happened i found myself doing over 80mph in a 65mph zone. i only found out from my son in the back seat with his gps letting me know how fast i was going. other wise don't' know what would have happened. *tr

2004 chevy trailblazer instrument cluster problems. vehicle only has 70k miles. gauges frequently read incorrect readings. the coolant temperature gauge has taken a deep dive and has pegged out as far as it can go and does not move now. most instrument backlights have burned out preventing the speedometer and other gauges from being seen at night. very dangerous. quick search on internet results in a severe epidemic of this problem with all gm suv's. a class action lawsuit resulted in a nationwide recall for this problem for all similar vehicles but not the chevy trailblazer or gmc envoy. this seems to be a criminal act by gm. something needs to be done to protect owners of these vehicles. *tr

My speedometer and rpm dial have stopped working on my 2004 chevy trailblazer. i called the 800 number and the lady told me that i am not covered for their special provisioning for this known problem. that their special provisioning only covers vehicles 7yrs/70k mileage. i have over 90k miles and they are not willing to cover me. i can?t afford to pay for this to be fixed. i will never buy another chevy car i can?t believe there is no recall for this issue. there are 1000's of complaints online this should be a recall. *tr

Headlights turns off while driving taillights burns out at lease once a month (blinkers, brakes etc) interior lights comes on and off at times. *tr

I have a 2004 chevy trailblazer. my sister in law has a 2005 chevy trailblazer. my rpm dial ent crazy a year ago and now my speedometer is out. i have 82000 miles on it. chevy refuses to pay for the repair of $500. there are several others with this same problem. i have found many websites. this is and has been an ongoing problem. we need a recall. this is for trailblazers with the years of 2003-2005. i am not getting my problem fixed and i am sure there are many other instrument clusters that do not work on the highway. gm lost a lawsuit for the exact same year vehicles from 2003-2005 for the suburban, trucks, tahoes etc. my vehicle is also considered a truck and i am sure that same cheap part was used in my vehicle. this is definitely a problem part that needs to be recalled. please help! *tr

While using cruise control at highway speed the speedometer erratically increases. braking to a stop does not take the speedometer to zero. turning the vehicle off and restarting sometimes puts the speedometer needle to zero in five mile increments with each cycle. problem is recurring. vehicle is taken to the dealer and a "cluster" problem is diagnosed with estimated cost to be around $500. internet research reveals this to be more than a sporadic problem resulting in the manufacturer recalling a number of vehicle models but not the trailblazer. a call to gm's customer service department culminates only with a formal complaint being registered ... this too being the common end for owners of trailblazers (according to internet research) the problem is a potential safety hazard as when this occurs without warning one has to gauge driving speed by surrounding traffic. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving 70 mph the contact noticed that the speedometer increased from 70 mph to 120 mph. although the speedometer read 120 mph the vehicle was not traveling at that speed. the contact took the vehicle to a dealer regarding the instrument panel and they stated that it needed to be replaced. the contact has reviewed concerns regarding the instrument cluster for his year make and model and since there was a related recall, the manufacturer should be responsible for the repairs. the failure mileage was 42,397. updated 3/16/10 *cn the consumer was informed his vehicle was not included in the recall, because the instrument cluster panel was made by another manufacturer. updated 06/11/10.*jb

The gauges on my daughter's 2004 chevy trailblazer will not register correctly. one day they all work, the next day only a few work correctly. one day she is able to tell the correct speed she is driving, and the next day she is stuck on 120 mph. this has been an on-going problem for the last several months. it is the same with the oil pressure, tachometer and gas gauge. *tr

I have encountered a problem with the speedometer not working properly or not working at all in some cases. i was going about 60 to 65 mph when the speedometer was reading over 100mph now the speedometer is not working, there has been report that other trailblazer were doing the same, there should be an recall on this. *tr

Head lights flickering and dimming while driving. cars think your are trying to get them to stop allowing them to pull out in front of you. the volts drop severely on the battery gauge. this is no way safe and the gm says its normal. no way!!! *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the speedometer always displayed an improper reading. the improper readings can vary from 0 to 120 mph and all of the speeds between. the failure was not diagnosed by the dealer or a local mechanic. the failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 78,000.

All gauges including speedometer on 2004 chevy trailblazer stopped working!! thousands of people are having the same problem and it is very expensive to fix and very unsafe to not. gm recalled all kinds of gm's with same problem except for trailblazer. please help us with this ongoing problem since gm doesn't want to step up. *tr

Tachometer has stopped working. from postings i have read, it appears that eventually all instruments will stop working.

2004 chevrolet trailblazer that has intermittent lights going out while driving at night, speedometer has stopped working and gauges on panel only work occasionally. nearly had a wreck when the headlights went out going down the interstate at 75 miles per hour. i did not see a recall. i have seen on line this is a common problem. has there been a service recall i am unaware of? this is a safety issue. my wife and children ride in this vehicle. *tr

2004 chevy trailblazers instrument panel isn't working properly. the rpm gauge fluctuates and often doesn't work which seems to cause the speedometer to respond slowly. i have heard from others with the same issue that eventually the speedometer will quit as will the gas gauge, oil gauge, etc. this is a potential hazard that has not been recalled by chevy. other models of the same year have been recalled, but not the trailblazer. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving 55 mph the contact noticed that the speedometer was no longer working properly. he stated that he could no longer tell what speed the vehicle was traveling. the failure had occurred for almost a year. the vehicle was not taken to an authorized dealer for the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 79,000 and the current mileage was 86,000.

Jan 13, 2010 i started my 2004 chevy trailblazer and the entire instrument panel was not working. there has been no accident, fire, flood or any other thing that would have caused this to happen. i do not feel i can safely drive my vehicle and am not aware of any recalls even though i have found hundreds of other similar complaints of the same problem. *tr

2004 chevy trailblazer. instrument panel fails. no speedometer, gas gauge, battery, oil, etc. *tr

Gauges in vehicle (2004 chevrolet trailblazer ) have gone "haywire". they drop to zero suddenly or even worse show unrealistic displays , such as speeding past 100 miles an hour when i have stopped. *tr

I own a 2004 chevrolet trailblazer and the speedometer is erratic and frequently reads speeds not consistent with actual speed (as compared with the speed provided by a gps device). i have found a significant number of other vehicle owners with similar chevrolet vehicles experiencing the same issues. being unaware of your actual speed is a danger to self and other drivers. *tr

While driving my 2004 chevy trailblazer home from work about 3 months ago i noticed my speedometer reading at 0, however i was driving approx. 30 miles per hour at the time. i accelerated to check to see if that would make the speedometer move above 0, but it stayed at 0. i informed my spouse of this speedometer misread and he attributed it to the cold weather. my spouse thought that the speedometer would return to normal once the weather warmed up. well, the temperature warmed to 65 degrees and once again my speedometer continued to malfunction and read below 0, while driving. my husband has also noticed that the speedometer wasn't working while he was driving. they speedometer just stops working sometimes without warning. two weeks ago my family and i started out on a 180 mile highway trip and within 20 miles from my home the speedometer just started descending to below 0 while i was driving on the highway and it remained there for the entire trip!!!!! i feel that this is a very hazardous situation and these vehicles should be recalled. after finding numerous other chevy owners experiencing the same problem, it frustrates me to think that chevy does not feel that this isn't important enough or serious enough to correct this problem at their expense!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is my only vehicle and i depend on the safety of this vehicle to transport my family which includes a 3yr. old and 13yr. old every day to school and daycare. and furthermore, i should not have to worry about getting a speeding ticket because i am unaware of my actual speed. i shouldn't have to alter my travel plans in fear of getting pulled over on the highway for this speedometer malfunctioning either. please recall these vehicles immediately. *tr

My headlights and blinkers and tail lights go out quite often and need to be changed. sometimes they will go off for awhile, then start working again. i wish i had a count of how many times i have had to have the bulbs changed, but i did not keep track. *tr

Instrument panel - complete failure while vehicle was in service. was driving down i95 near richmond va and the speedometer did not decrease in speed while i was slowing down. when i accelerated the speedometer would increase and would not drop. the speedometer final reached 120mph. safety issue as one is unable to know what speed one is traveling which could have led to an accident. took vehicle to gmc / buick / cadillac dealer in athens ga. took one week to get a replacement cluster box. cost of repair $401.50. contacted gm. *tr

I have a 2004 chevrolet trailblazer. all the gauges in the instrument panel are failing! first the speedometer stopped working, then the rpm gauge, and now the oil pressure gauge. *tr

The speedometer has quit working properly in a 2004 chevrolet trailblazer with 71,000 miles. it is impossible to know the rate of speed of the vehicle while driving. the repair has not been made yet. *tr

I own a 2004 chevrolet trailblazer and the speedometer as well as all of the other gauges stopped working. i was driving down the road looked down and saw that the speedometer said i was traveling 100mph, which i knew i wasn't because i was in rush hour traffic. when i stopped at a traffic light the speedometer dropped down but got stuck on 55mph and now it will not move at all. i searched the internet for this problem and discovered that several other owners of the 2004 trailblazer had the same problems but chevrolet has failed to recognize this as a safety recall. i am requesting that this issue be brought up as a safety complaint due to this vehicle being our main transportation for myself and my family !! i am now in the process of getting price quotes from area automotive shops but i have read that the repair costs are from $400.00 to $800.00. i don't think i should have to pay this amount if chevrolet would recognize this as a safety hazard and just recall this certain problem. i also own a 2001 silverado and not too long ago i received a notice in the mail that there was a recall on the wire supports for the trucks tailgate(due to the current supports might break under the right circumstances). now i am wondering if a tailgate that i rarely use is a safety hazard then how is an instrument that is used to make sure you are operating your vehicle at a safe speed or making sure you do not run out of gas in the middle of the interstate not being recalled... thanks for all your help and concern in resolving this matter. *tr

2004 trailblazer, speedometer failed. needle sits at 60 mph when stopped, moves past 120mph as you drive. i consider it a safety issue if you are unable to monitor your speed.gm is repairing out of warranty 03/04 cadillac escalade, chevrolet avalanche, silverado, suburban, and tahoe; and gmc yukon for this same problem. i don't understand why trailblazer is not included.. *tr

Speedometer gauge only works correctly intermittently. numerous gauge problems and numerous headlight failures. *tr

We own a 2004 chevrolet trailblazer. on the way home from christmas we noticed our speedometer was not moving. the speedometer was either to fast or not fast enough. we hope to bring it to carmax, since the vehicle is hopefully still under warranty. this problem could cause an accident or a ticket for the person driving the car. *tr

Intermittent speedometer and inoperative tachometer. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 chevrolet trailblazer. he stated that the instrument panel would intermittently fail. he verified that the speedometer and fuel level indicator would not read properly. there were also other random warning lights that would illuminate sporadically. the dealer stated that the vehicle could be repaired at the owners expense. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 62,000 and the current mileage was 63,500. updated 05/13/10. *lj

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving 55 mph, the speedometer indicated a speed of 0 mph. each time she operated the vehicle, the contact stated that the speedometer would display an improper reading. the vehicle was taken to a local repair shop where it was repaired. three days later, the failure occurred again. in addition to the speedometer, the fuel gauge also gave incorrect readings on the fuel level and the rpm gauge also displayed incorrect readings. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the fuel tank had to be removed and the rpm gauge failure had been repaired three times. the problems had not been remedied. the failure mileage was approximately 120,000 and the current mileage was approximately 142,000.

This issue needs to be addressed, my speedometer and trans meter on left of speedometer started showing my chevrolet speed was 80 miles an hour even in park. then while i drive it will move to 100 miles an hour while i'm driving 35, and it moves up and down depending on my speed. some times it will work other times it will not show the correct speed, or acceleration on trans meter to the left of speedometer. i have went online and seen 1000's of people saying the same thing at the same miles of the chevrolet. 70,000-90,000 most are around 80,000. shouldn't this have been recalled years ago? and why have this issue been ignored for so long? *tr
