My car has a sticky, clear substance all over it from where the vents are to the windshield. it is dangerous because it causes a glare and when the sun is out especially it is extremely hard to see. i have tried everything to get it off and nothing is working. i didn't spill anything on it either for it to be this way. it just started happening.
Our 2008 nissan altima dashboard has melted leaving it sticky and shiny causing distracting and glaring reflections off their windshields. i'll taking it to dealership twice about dashboard but they stated they was unaware of any issue with this vehicle dashboard. the second time i told them about the multiple lawsuits i found on-line and they directed my to nissan consume department. nissan told me the unit was out warranty and will not assist.
The dashboard area on the car is completely breaking down and melting. this melting has created a very dangerous shine and reflection on the front windshield (along with an odor). its become so bad then on many days its difficult to see the car or objects in front of you or you simply cannot see almost causing accidents. this is dangerous and clearly a manufacture defect that has been well documented and in some states was a class action lawsuit. it needs to be a national recall! someone is going to get seriously hurt and the information is available that proves this is a blatant problem. it is the vehicle safety authorities responsibility to force a remedy for this issue before an innocent individual is killed. nissanusa has refused to remedy or accept responsibility for this expensive issue when contacted. lives are at risk! the consumer is being ignored. my car is predominate garage kept with under 100k on it, this should not be an issue. something needs to be done immediately. clearly business interests are more important then consumer safety.
I was driving down a dirt road and my car died i tried to start it back up but it wouldn't do anything i can't turn on any lights unlock or lock the car nothing. shows a light on the dash that looks like the key fob and looked it up and it says that something under the steering column can cause the issues and has a recall
While driving at low speed, my sunroof exploded. it was closed at the time, and fortunately sun shade closed so glass did not fall in on me. reading many others with nissan cars dealign with this. no cars in front of me, so not debris hitting could have caused.
The front dashboard is melting and very sticky to the touch. a glare results on the windshield during sunny days, which is an extreme hazard. i can't see large portions of what's in front of me due to the glare. this issue is well documented on the web and needs to be addressed by nissan.
Driving down the highway and my sunroof just seemed to have exploded. we just head a loud pop and shattered glass. we did not see anything hit it and there's no rocks or anything yo be found
Melting dashboard. shiny and sticky. very dangerous to drive in direct sunlight as it reflects and can drastically increase chances of an accident.
My car is making a banging noise when its started. my mechanic diagnosed as the exhaust manifold. other altima vin#s have been recalled, why hasnt mine?
The dashboard is melting. the stickiness from the melted dashboard creates a glare that can make it difficult to see at times. this could cause an accident.
I bought a used 2008 nissan altima, it drive fine for the test drive i started driving on the highway to bring it home it started jerking real bad and then when i got to 40 mph the rpms started dropping so i couldn't go faster then 20mph so i took it to a shop it said the whole transmission needs to be fixed on it , i started doing searches in it said that for those make in models of cars it said the transmissions were bad in to have a recall done
The dashboard in my car is slowly breaking down. the composition of the materials has degraded, over time, so bad that it has lost its surface texture in areas and is now smooth and highly shiny/reflective. the sun is now reflected on to my window shield and i am completely blinded and unable to see the road, pedestrians and cars in front of me.
Found dashboard melting and cracking around flat surface areas and a/c vents. extreme glare when driving!

1) clear coat and black paint fading to primer (year 2017-2018) 2) 124,000 miles - transmission whining as vehicle speeds up on streets and highways (march 22,2018) 3) black dash has melted, cant see out windshield while driving facing the sun (2017-2018)
I can drive the car for several hours then after several hours the car shuts down slows down and then cuts completely off tries to restart the car it completely dies have to get a jump start. couldn't get a reading on the car no codes would show up it's been doing this for several months now. it's very dangerous to drive not knowing when it will just shut off on me and my daughter.
Car stopped, would not start, yellow key light on the left dashboard stays on. car will not start at all
While driving home after work my sunroof on my 2008 nissan altima exploded it was not hot or cold temp was approximately 75 degrees no other vehicles were around me at the time . speed was 50 mph on a city street i never use the sunroof it's always on the close position no prior cracks or scrapes on the sunroof date of incident 2/02/2018 . i did report incident to nissan as of 2/9/2018 no response
My driver's side door is not locking with the key fob. this allows anyone to open my door, but it does set off my alarm. my car has been broken into twice while parked in a secured access garage because they are able to open the door, snatch and grab. i read online that this is a safety issue because drivers should be able to lock their doors.
Dashboard is melting due to heat and sun in texas. melting glue is creating a severe glare on the windshield, causing dangerous driving conditions as it's hard to see how the windshield. visibility is extremely limited. dashboard is sticky and cannot be cleaned or wiped off.

Currently, i live in florida and am an owner of 2008 nissan altima. this car is usually in the garage and rarely is impacted by the sun. i have noticed in the last week 3 cracks appearing on the dashboard of the vehicle. i called nissan and they stated to me that there was nothing that they could do because i was out of warranty. i then looked on line and noticed that there was a lawsuit for this same problem with altima's in the years of 2008 and 2009. nissan know s that there dashboards were made with a defective material that was not able to withstand the humidity of florida. the lawsuit had come and past. i was 6 months from the deadline of april 29th 2017. the issue though with this dashboard is a visability while driving. the dashboard is melting and shines from the glare of the sun which impedes driving.
My dashboard is melting and separating, and it has a caustic smell. i've brought it into my local nissan dealership where they did indeed confirm that my dashboard is melting, has an odor and needs replacement. i have actually put my fingernail into the melting dash by accident and it has left a mark! i take excellent care of my car, including keeping it quite clean inside and out . i have been in touch with nissan via email and phone, i was told that my 2008 altima se is now out of warranty and was given an "oh well, not our problem" type of attitude and response. i am beyond concerned since the dash is degrading and shiny causing decreased visibility due to a glare. my greatest fear is that this melting dashboard will effect the mechanics of the airbag deployment in an accident, as well as the electronics that the dashboard protects. i am dismayed that nissan can treat customers with legitimate safety issues with a carte blanche or laissez-faire attitude. there was a class action suit in florida because the dashboard melting affected so many altimas! complaints are not limited to the florida class action suit, there are various complaints from other nissan owners in multiple states with the same problem. the materials are obviously defective and not meant to last any car owner more than a few years. i fear for the safety of myself and any passengers in my car! my car has 11,000 miles on it, and is well maintained. i take it in for oil changes and other routine maintenance; no consumer should ever have to worry about a melting dashboard no matter the age of the car, or have materials in it that degrade to the point that it causes major safety issues for any person riding in that vehicle. there needs to be a major recall on the 2008 altima, or any nissan made with this defective, faulty material. this is hazardous to one and all.
My dashboard is melting. the interior dashboard is beginning to melt and deteriorate creating a glare when driving which is dangerous and distracting.
At around 11:50 pm monday august 21, 2017 my son parked his nissan altima on residential street in front of a friends house while he ran in for a bit before heading home, about 10 minutes later 2 loud "pops" rattled the home. they stepped out front to find that his 2008 nissan altima was fully engulfed in flames 20-30 feet high. at 00:11 the fire department arrived and worked to extinguished the car, finally finding it safe to leave at 01:17. they car is obviously a total loss. i am requesting an investigation into the cause of this random "explosion" of the vehicle while parked. thankfully, no one was injured and no other structures were damaged (possible damage to the city road), this very well could have resulted in a devastating outcome.
The dash is melting, and has been for years, forming some kind of sticky, shiny residue. this residue causes the dash to reflect off the windshield, making it very difficult to see while driving.
Melting nissan dashboard , due to this issue unable to see while driving under sun , lot of glare is coming and image reflection on screen.
2008 nissan altima dashboard is melting and cracked. the dashboard produces a glare making it difficult to see when it is sunny. material for dashboard is defective.
Nissan altima 2008 melting dashboard. unfortunately, my car's dashboard is melting; thereby, creating a dangerous, hazardous glare on the front window.
I am the owner of a 2008 nissan altima with a defective dashboard due to use of low quality materials. when the dashboards become exposed to heat and sunlight it converts into a vicious, sticky and reflective surface that projects a glare onto windshield obstructing the driver's view, thus endangering everyone on the road. i purchased the vehicle in missouri but came special order from texas according to my salesman. a class action lawsuit was filed and settled in florida because of this reason, but nissan will not taking responsibility for their inferior quality product for those living outside of fl stating these are isolated incidents.
My vehicles dash is melting and it crates areas that have a very dangerous glare when driving in sunlight. the dash has also become extremely sticky and hard to clean. the real issue is in the glare as it can lead to an accident. unfortunately the dash was already like this when i purchased my vehicle so i am unaware of when it happened.
Dash pad, which also covers the passenger air bag is now cracked, and is sticky. i know that nissan settled with florida residents for this problem, however, other cars are affected. in southeast texas, we have just as much, if not more heat that seems to be causing failure of the dash cover. we are now afraid to drive the car, as since it is cracked and sticky, we do not know if we will be properly protected with the air bag should we have a problem. this is a serious safety issue, not just cosmetic, and all cars should be included, not just florida. please review this issue, and get all of us covered.
The dashboard is melting and spreading to the windshield it is causing the lights and sun to glare off the melting plastic impairing emu view.
Sticky, melting shiny dash and coming apart at seams. there was a class action law suit on this and i reported it on 5/31/2017 . this was confirmed at dealership service dept. but because i live 0.8 of a mile into ga they will not cover these damages. the car was bought in fl. and i work in fl. daily. am going to take this up with bbb.i reported this to nhtsa. gov several months back and never heard a word from this company and uploaed photos in march when this first started to happen to dash
The dash has a gummy feeling and is splitting around all the vents, all of the electrical areas, and the entire area above the steering wheel
The dashboard has developed a glossy reflective sheen that produces a hazardous glare which greatly reduces visibility especially on sunny days.
Failure of electronic steering column lock (escl) unit. vehicle was totally disabled, with no prior warning, leaving me stranded. nissan issued letter in 2013 stating that due to a manufacturing irregularity the escl may malfunction. their solution was to extend warranty to 6 years / unlimited miles. my car has approx 61,000 miles, but past their time limit. nissan denied any responsibility and dealer charged $678.14 for the part which is readily available for under $400. total cost for repair was $991.37, plus my towing charge of $37. dealer service dept had quoted a price of high $800 to $900. why was vehicle not recalled and repaired when nissan knew that the part could fail without any warning? i was fortunate that vehicle was not disabled in a more dangerous area. we had two visits from aaa before we discovered the likely problem through the internet.
Just like many customers in florida. we in texas have the same issue with out dashboard melting on our 2008 nissan altimas. the main difference is the only customers in florida were offer replacement and not customers in other states like texas.
Dashboard is sticky and melting
The dashboard of the car has cracked and become sticky. there was no reason for this to happen.
Purchased a used 2008 nissan altima coupe. after a coupe months i noticed the top of my dashboard was really shinny. when i touched it the dash wash very stickyand melting. as time as gone on and the days getting warmer and sun brighter it's getting worse. the glare from the melting dash has made me unable to see at times while driving and i've almost been in 3 accidents so far due to this.
My nissan altima's dashboard is melting. the entire dash is melting leaving a bright sticky substance that will not come off when i try to clean it. this is not just a cosmetic issue. the melting dash leaves a massive glare on my windshield when driving toward any sunlight. i am blinded by the reflection every time the sun is out. this is not an isolated issue. i have seem hundreds of complaints online and the state of florida already had a class action lawsuit settled with nissan in january about this issue. this needs to be fixed! i dont know the exact date that i noticed the issue but i have been trying to get this fixed for a while now. i have contacted nissan consumer affairs as well as the lawfirm associated with the lawsuit in florida. nobody will help me and i know there are hundreds if not thousands of people just like me. just google melting dash nissan altima...
The dashboard seems to be melting. the material is becoming sticky and can easily be peeled off, almost like playdough. also in some areas it produces a glare and is very bothersome and if it continues to get worse will even become quite dangerous as it sort of blinds the driver to some degree.
When driving on long and sometimes short trips, the air flow stops blowing, like a vent was closed. the blower fan motor is still working and the a/c is still working because it is still cold at the vent but there is no air flow. *tr
Since purchasing the vehicle in 2014, the dashboard has been continuously melting and cracking to the point where the glare from the black melted dashboard has severely decreased visibility. additinally, as more cracks have appeared the car no longer recognizes when a passenger is in the passenger seat and shows the airbag as 'off.'
My dash board is cracked in several places and is very soft and sticky all around. my fingernails gouge the dash material very easily with very little effort. the stickiness of my hands negatively affects my grip and release of the steering wheel.
I bought this car with no title and i would like to get a title for it. please can someone tell me what the process is.
